It's offical, the new formes DON'T work on wifi or union room.

I bet Sky Forme isn´t allowed on Wifi because us Americans over here don´t know about it yet, at least not officially. Remember that it was revealed during the months before Pokemon Movie 11, so suddenly having a Grass/Flying Shaymin over Wifi wouldn´t make any sense to anyone outside of Japan. Most likely when American Platinum comes out, it will be Wifi usable, overriding the Japanese coding. That´s what happened with Japanese Pursuit: new overrides old.
Why would it be unable to participate in Japan Platinum vs Japan Platinum then? Also, I doubt official sources think people would import games, so as far as they're concerned, only Japanese people know of Platinum.

I wonder if Platinum Orb has its 20% effect still when fighting Diamond......

Or what will happen when A Diamond Frisker is sent out when Origin-tina is out.......

That I don´t know, but I guess that since Wifi is a big room now, they can´t ensure that it will be Platinum vs. Platinum. Though they could always just make it to where the games recognize each other...

Whether official sources think that or not, Wifi does not concern itself with imports, etc, you just battle with whoever is online at the time. Thus the need to keep Skymin hidden. Either way, I get what you are saying and I really don´t think this needed to be so complicated. Hopefully it will be fixed with the American version.

Banette: Let's take a look-see... WHAT IS THAT THING!!???!? *head explodes*
O-Giratina: Sweet, free kill.
Banette's trainer: Well, Stantler's not going to be a good choice...

I thought it was funny. No, I don't know why anybody would use Banette and Stantler in Uber.

EDIT: What happens with Rotom in local battles? And what happens when Transform gets involved? For that matter, how did Transform work in Advance with Deoxys?

My thats an interesting idea for a test. As far as i know, species is copied up to the point of weight for Grass knot and Low kick. My guess would be it takes the stats of the opposing pokemon. I don;t know, however, which sprite Platinum would show.

I'll test it with Skymin right now, I don't have an Oritina. I'm 99% sure that whatever the result for Skymin ends up being is also the result for Oritina, though.

Platinum as the host: Skymin stays Skymin. Shows Skymin sprite on Platinum, Hedgehog sprite on Diamond. Takes not-very-effective damage from a Fighting attack. Wow, that was unexpected. I thought it'd fail for sure.

Diamond as the host: Skymin stays Skymin, again.

So that proves that there are no compatibility issues between D/P and Platinum's alternate forms. They appear to the D/P player as their regular sprites, but stats and typing are that of their new forms.

Looks like GameFreak just hates wi-fi players for whatever reason. What the fuck, GayFreak?

good god, I thought it would fail for sure!

Was the .sav file not hacked? Is it just regular old Diamond with nothing in it. Against a Platinum with Skymin?

WHAT. THE. FUCK?

so can skymin be used on wifi or? cause the last page kinda confused me o.O

basically, this just means that Diamond Pearl does not have a problem ACCEPTING Skymin as data.

But they ban it on wifi because the D/P player won't know it is a skymin.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

Sadly, the Skymin wifi ban is in the coding of Platinum itself, and not simply the wifi server rejecting it as a pokemon. I tried talking to the lady to connect to wifi, saying NO when it asked me if I wanted to connect, and when I checked my party I still had a land Shaymin. So barring a patch for the actual game itself, it will never work on wifi, since it reverted back without me even having to connect.

I'm declaring shenanigans on this, they could have at least allowed it to work between two platinum games *sigh*

Has anyone tried using PBR?

As far as I know, the process to upload Pokémon is different there. Maybe we could get at least the glitched Land Grass/Flying. It may be worth the shot.

I could be very wrong, though.

I just had a brainwave.
The reason why this issue hasn't been raised in Japan might be because Giratina, Shaymin and Rotom are Banned Pokemon in Pokemon Tournaments, and the Japanese tend to play by these rules on Wi-Fi, hence why nothing has been heard about it.

I was also wondering about this myself. I was also curious as to if PBR had any problems uploading pokemon from Diamond, which were FROM Platinum, and have Platinum Move Tutor Moves. Is this possible?

PBR allows all sorts of illegal movesets that are not possible with Platinum tutors, so I don't think that would be a problem.

Why is Rotom banned? O.o

And where can we look for more information on this? (Japanese is fine)

Here:

I got the banned Pokemon list, and added in the names in english for convenience.

上記ポケモンのうち、「ミュウツー」 (Mewtwo)
「バンギラス」(Tyranitar)
「カイオーガ」(Kyogre)
「グラードン」(Groudon)
「レックウザ」(Rayquaza)
「ロトム」(Rotom)
「ディアルガ」(Dialga)
「パルキア」(Palkia)
「ギラティナ」は使用できません。(Giratina - All Forms)
特別なポケモン「ミュウ」(Mew)
「ルギア」(Lugia)
「ホウオウ」(Ho-oh)
「セレビィ」(Celebi)
「ジラーチ」(Jirachi)
「デオキシス」(Deoxys)
「フィオネ」(Fione)
「マナフィ」(Manafi)

Dragonite isn't on there, probably because of the recent Saikyo event that offers him at a lower level

It amazes me how the continue to ban Phione, yet they allow Lati@s.
