Its_A_Random vs Wikey

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to CAP ASB! As you can see we're getting back to basics for this one; just a simple, clay bottomed battle arena with nothing funky going on to mess with the pure battling styles of our contenders.
I am Lord Jesseus, and I will be your referee and commentator for today. But enough about me - yes I'm sorry too but we have a battle to focus on. So let's meet the combatants!
On one side we have Its_A_Random! This is his first battle so please folks make him feel welc-
OH AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!
Alright alright, now on the Other side we have Random's challenger, the slightly more experienced Wikey!
OH AND THE CROWD GOES WIKEY!
I mean... eh you get the idea.
Anyway, let's get to it! Random, as the Match seeker you will send out your first Pokemon. Wikey will then send out his own Pokemon and give his orders. Then once Random gives out his commands, the ACTION CAN BEGIIIIN!
Oh and remember folks these trainers need their concentration, so try to keep quiet! No comments until the battle is complete.

[So just to be clear
Field: A simple pokemon battle arena like the ones seen In the anime, made of clay so diggable and such. No water or special circumstances. This is my first battle so I want to keep it simple.
1. Its_A_Random sends out his first pokemon. It's all abilities, so no need to pick one.
2. Wikey sends out his first Pokemon and issues his commands.
3. Its_A_Random issues his own orders.
4. REFFING!
And so on you know the drill]

Okay, I summon Stortamus the Hippopotas in Defence mode! (Sorry for the Yu-Gi-Oh reference) And activate his effect to cast the field in Sandstorm!

EDIT: Oh, yeah, he's holding an Oran Berry. Thanks for the VM Wikey.

Alright, I'll send out Holden the Gligar holding a Chesto Berry.

Let's start by taking advantage of all this sand. Blast Stortamus in the face with a Sand Attack. Then go right at him and Knock Off his Berry. Finish the round out with an Earthquake.

Let the battle begin!
Both players send out their starting Pokemon, Random with Stortamus the Hippopotas and Wikey with Holden the Gligar. Upon hitting the field Stortamus immediately kicks up a storm of sand with Sand Stream! But Holden to your hats - Gligar seems more than happy with this outcome and uses the sandy conditions to his advantage with a Sand Attack to Stortamus' face. Hippopotus is used to having sand flying about him but usually manages to keep it out of his face, so he draws upon the resulting anger and irritation to fuel a powerful Curse!
Holden however is not yet on the offensive; seeing the Defensive boosts as irrelevant for now, he opts to Knock Off his opponents Oran Berry, which is lost in the swirling sands. Annoyed, Stortatus responds by also utilising the sand as a weapon with a Sand Attack of his own, now leaving both Combatants with impaired vision.
This insults Holden and triggers him to take the offensive striking fiercely with an Earthquake. Unsurprisingly due to the attack's nature, it manages to land despite the sand in his eyes. Stortatus stomps the ground harshly to cause a Rock Slide but is not so lucky; between the sand in his eyes from the sand attack, and Holden's sand veil combined with his own sand stream, it turns out all this sand is just too much sand for him to sandle! Er, I mean handle. The hippo does not realised he has missed however, and feeling satisfied the curse ends.

That went well...

Stortamus, lets get rid of Holden's Chesto Berry, by Yawning on it, Then further impair its vision with Sand Attack, & finish of with Rock Slide, & hope we can make some inroads into this Gligar.

Summary of Actions:
Yawn > Sand Attack > Rock Slide

All right, Holden, that was great.

Let's start off with a Swords Dance. Follow that up with another Earthquake. Finish the round with a never-miss Faint Attack.

Apparently happy with the way things are going, Holden does a celebratory Swords Dance, raising his spirits further and boosting attack. Stortamus cannot see this however, and thinking his opponent is doing nothing Yawns due to boredom. Gligar hears this however, which makes him realise how tired he is after such an energetic dance.
For now however, he shakes off his exhaustion and delivers a second Earthquake which hits its mark for considerable damage. Hippopotas blasts a Sand Attack in the direction he thinks the quake came from, but while he was correct in his assumption, Holden had already taken to the air for his next attack.
In fact, the Earthquake was not only a powerful attack, but also, as it turns out, a skillful feint. Ignoring the sand in his eyes as well as the oncoming need to sleep, Holden successfully delivers a sharp Faint Attack from behind! By the time Stortamus manages to turn around Gligar is already lost amongst the sand, rendering his Rock Slide useless. Gligar almost falls to sleep after all his efforts but manages to keep himself alert by nibbling at his Chesto Berry.

Yeah I'm sorry Its A Random, but it seems the not-quite-as-random number generator hates you.

Wikey says aloud that "Fortune favours the Bold" leading Random to wonder if Impish was the right nature for Stortamus, and then opts to try a less direct route to vitory. Holden however has no such inclination - now with the sand gone from his eyes and some power left from the previous round, the Gligar begins a vicious assault, causing yet another Earthquake. Hippopotus shrugs it off however and Yawns, apparently not bothered by the attack.
Insulted, Holden performs another Swords Dance, wanting to be sure that his next attack will not be taken so lightly. Upon completion he once again notices that he is becoming sleeping and curses himself for falling for the same trick again. Meanwhile, Stortamus does some Cursing of his own, boosting his defenses in anticipation of Holdens increasingly fierce attacks.
Now feeling high on is own power, Holden unleashes his most powerful Earthquake yet and does some significant damae. Stortamus however somehow retains a nochalante composure and rather than giving Gligar the satisfaction of responding, merely Slacks Off to receover some lost HP. Seeing the hippo rest reminds Holden once ogain of how tired he is, and reluctantly he swallows the remains of his berry.

Delighted at the current course of the battle - all those rounds without taking any damage - Holden Swords Dances yet again, more enthusiastically than ever. However his confidence is breifly shattered as a third Yawn from the steadily losing Hippopotas induces tiredness yet again.
Infuriated at both his opponent and himself, Holden ferociously Night Slashes the more collected Stortamus. In reply, Stortamus continues to do nothing direct and instead bolsters his own defense against the oncoming onslaught with Curse.
Unsatisfied, Gligar Night Slashes yet again, but still fails to take down the hippo, who ignores Holden completely and pulls of yet another Curse. Exhausted from his angry outburst, Holden at last succumbs to an intense, almost comatose sleep, giving Stortamus a chance to turn things around, even if he's low on energy.

His persistence finally paying off, Stortamus takes the Gligar's sleep as an opportunity to start getting back on the offensive and maybe even turning the match around. He begins with a Rock slide, however Holden's sand veil is still making him difficult to spot, espeically now that he's stopped moving. Realising he was getting himself and decides to Chill for a bit to regain some energy and have a careful look around for Holden. After all, that Gligar dropped like a stone; he won't be waking up for a while. Holden meanwhile enjoys a peaceful sleep and restores some energy. It doesn't last long however, as Hippoptas finally locates the unconcious Gligar and at long last inflicts some damage with another Rock Slide!

Okay, not as much damage as I hoped, but now that we know where Holden is...

Rock Slide x3
Hopefully we get some crit-hax, other than that, we should get ready, because next round Holden will be awake again & we need to do as much damage as we can before that happens.

You took that Rock Slide like a champ, Holden.

You may wake up early because of these attacks, if that happens just Chill.

Utilising his newfound opportunity to the max, Stortamus recklessly goes all-out and starts dropping rocks left, right and centre. LEFT! The Rock Slide hits for a fair amount of damage, making Holden's sleep a little restless
RIGHT! The next Rock Slide misses but the sound causes Gligar to suddenly jolt awake because of all the commotion.
Still in a half-awaken daze, Holden decides to just try and regain his senses and Chill. CENTRE! The final Rock Slide punsihes Holden for his patience and scores a Critical Hit, with many of the rocks landing pointy-side down onto Gligar's recently uprighted noggin. Stortamus has little time to celebrate however as he nearly collapses in exhaustion due to the fierceness of his outburst.

Senses returned, along with a newfound rage, Holden takes no time getting back on the offensive. He plans to finish this, and he plans to finish it NOW. He starts off with his most powerful and consistent attack - The mighty Earthquake! It hits as hard as ever, and yet Stortamus has no choice but to sit there and take it as he Chills.
As yet unsatisfied, Gilgar flies in close and strikes with a sadistic Night Slash to the hippos side. Stortamus tries to stop the inevitable, but it's too late; out of HP he slips into unconciousness. Having gotten rid of this inconvenience at last, Gligar takes this moment of peace to Chill and enjoy his victory.

Fun Fact: If Stortamus had started the round with just one more HP, he would have survived.

That one extra HP could've resulted in Stortamus living, thanks to Slack Off...

Okay Capers (Gligar), you're my only hope! I want you to keep as far away as possible & set up Swords Dance & Agility!

Summary of actions:
Keep your distance > Swords Dance > Agility

EDIT: I forgot the item again...Okay, Aspear Berry

Holden, you're not going to let that other Gligar show your flight skills up. Use your Agility to keep up with him. If he's still too far away close the distance with a Quick Attack, otherwise hit him with a Poison Sting. Finish the round off with a Night Slash.

Agility ~ Quick Attack / Poison Sting ~ Night Slash
