Nice work X-Act. Since I'm not great with stats, just how diverse is UU compared to OU?

After all the support for banning Abomasnow, since it gives 100% accurate Blizzards(amongst other things):

Blizzard 2.58%
edit: Oh, thanks X-Act.

Last month, the UU ladder metagame was much more diverse than the Standard ladder metagame. The higher the number of Pokemon in the metagame snapshot, the more diverse it is.

Thanks for the stats X-Act. I Earthquake is still immensly popular :)
EDIT: I indeed was wrong, sorry. Punishment is learned by a lot of pokemon, including Ho-oh. Thanks for pointing that out.

I thought that Arceus was banned? And if he is banned and is the only pokemon that can learn this move, how can it be used? I know Smeargle could scetch it, but wouln't it need an Arceus to scetch? Sorry if this is the wrong tread to ask, I just seems strange.
Ho-oh learns it. I think you're thinking about Judgment.

Thanks X-Act!

At the moment UU is a lot more diverse than OU. I think that fact that it was new is a major factor, as people will have been trying out all sort as different tactics and ideas, as was instructed by RB Golbat =)

This time next month, for me, this will be the major factor determining how I vote in the UU polls. For instance, the metagame is, in my opinion, quite nicely balanced at the moment. The real question is "is there enough Pokemon in the top used threats?" If it is balanced between 5 Pokemon (lol) then I would be inclined to get a few bans in to diversify the metagame, if the numbers are similar to that of OU, or less I will definately be inclined not to ban anything!

Great Job X-Act!

The Latias test was extremely heavy on ground attacks after about the first week. Probably to help take out Steels and Tyranitar. My standard team did not appreciate the rise at all.

I'm curious as to why Stone Edge is so high, especially above Stealth Rock.

I'm actually surprised to find EQ at number 1 and that high in UU with things like Starapter, Shaymin, and Crobat that resist it. Substitute is of high importance apparantly o.O

Another surprise; surf isn't top 2 in ubers. It's even below EQ. Seriously?? How does that happen?

I won't lie, I'm not really sure how to read the "snapshots."
They are read as they are written, really.

A typical Uber team has two Pokemon from Kyogre, Dialga and Groudon, three Pokemon out of Kyogre, Dialga, Groudon, Darkrai and Palkia, four Pokemon out of Kyogre, Dialga, Groudon, Darkrai, Palkia, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Lugia and Scizor, etc. There's really nothing to learn how to read them. They're read as they're written!

I'm curious as to why Stone Edge is so high, especially above Stealth Rock.
Most people just have one Stealth Rock user but Stone Edge is often carried by more than one pokemon on a team. Rock is still a good offensive type and Stone Edge is the best option for most pokemon that want a Rock move.

Another surprise; surf isn't top 2 in ubers. It's even below EQ. Seriously?? How does that happen?
There are more users of Earthquake than Surf in Ubers. Groudon, Rayquaza, Garchomp, Ho-oh, some Dialga. Surf is mainly used by Kyogre, and Manaphy. Even with Kyogre's huge usage, Earthquake essentially is more common.

Im pretty sure substitute is there soley because is spam it a solid 300 times each battle....

Thanks X-Act!!!

You did a great job with this, X-Act! Similarly to the statistics recently given out, this should give insight on the basic things to look for. =)

IIRC not many people used Dragon Pulse ( Heatran )

What's up with the increase in usage.
Kingdra is becoming more of a threat. Scarftran can revenge adamant +1 kingdra. Also, dragon pulse does have much better neutral coverage against things like gyarados.

2. DIALGA (Usages: 5291)

Average EVs: 140 HP, 28 Atk, 156 SpA, 88 SpD, 96 Spe
Average Nature Boosts/Reductions: -4.9% Atk, +1.4% SpA, +2.0% SpD, +1.5% Spe

Typical moveset:
- Draco Meteor
- Thunder
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast

* Outrage, Aura Sphere, Stealth Rock, Bulk Up, Rest and Sleep Talk can replace any of the four moves listed.
Wow Dialga really is a jack of all trades.

I think anyone that played at the tail end of last month in the UU ladder will attest to the diversity being somewhat skewed. I can guarantee that the majority of the battles took place within the first two weeks of play, but after the initial surge of popularity died down, it was pretty bog standard from there on out. My most successful team employed 5 of the current suspects in the nominations thread, and I know for a fact that the top battlers on the tier did nearly the same. It's certainly not as diverse as the numbers would make it appear as the tier settled down pretty quickly after the first couple of weeks.

One question X-Act. Would this imply that [if it was based on data over a longer period of time] those pokemon not in the UU snapshot would be the new NU (sans a pseudo-ban tier in between)?

No, it wouldn't. The metagame snapshots algorithm and the OU algorithm are different. The latter tends to provide a shorter list of Pokemon than the former. I intend to use the OU algorithm for the UU metagame to separate NU from UU.
