Kingdom Hearts

You're forgetting that the 7 lights are all keyblade wielders. Yen Sid, Donald, and Goofy don't count, js.. Ansem the Wise could very well be a possibility... Also Ventus isn't absorbed, only a part of his heart. That's why Roxas looks the way he does. However, Roxas is a very high possibility after 3D due to the epiphany that Nobodies can develop hearts. Same would go for Xion.

Except xion is not a possibility really...first of all, she is not a nobody, but a replica, and how/if/when replicas can develop hearts is unknown (and that's setting aside the blatant fact that she's dead...). Roxas is a strong candidate, but isn't he still combined with sora? Granted Roxas becoming his own person again is completely possible, but that's just something to keep in mind. Also, i cant imaging mickey not being one of the lights. Sora becoming a darkness is totally possible actually...

Kingdom Hearts!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to be obsessed with KH1 when I was younger haha. It was like... the peak of PS2 gaming for me during my childhood; It had an interesting story, decent characters, some FF characters ranging from good to meh, and a godlike battle system. Seriously the KH battle system is one of my all time favorite RPG battle systems, ever! I remember being dedicated to 100% the game when my friend bragged about unlocking it on his own ( still call bullshit to this day). I'll never forget that summer where I finally achieved my goal... good times.

You know, at the time I actually really ended up enjoying KH2. I was one of the many KH players who didn't play chain of memories before playing KH2 so I understood jack SHIT, but it was still a fun experience. Looking back on it, I agree with the posters in this thread who were disappointed in KH2. It was a overall step down from KH2; the gimped worlds (they're ridiculously small in kh2 -.-) lame partner system, stupidly OP limits, subpar sidequests. But KH2 had Drives, a cool set of villains and a more interesting story so it gets a pass. FYI: KH2: Final Mix+, the japan only enhanced remake of KH2 is the best KH in the series. No question. It fixes nearly every single one of KH2s flaws. After KH2, my KH fanaticism started dying down a bit...

I got around to playing chain of memories, Re: Chain of memories, Days, Birth by sleep and Re:coded. Both of the chain of memories games were solid games in their own right and had arguably the best writing in the series, but I played them past their prime (like late 2008 lol and after KH2...) so it kind of weakened the experience for me. Days was really disappointing. What I wanted was a clear look at Roxas' time in the organization and his interactions with each of the memories, specifically xemnas. (Oh and some Samurai Nobodies as partners :p). What Instead got was a sappy soap opera between Roxas / Axel / Xion and a decent~mediocre gameplay experience. Fun fact, I ended up playing through that game 3 times (once in japanese, twice in english)

Birth By Sleep, is one of the best KHs in the series (my second favorite after KH1!). It basically sets the stage for all future KH plots, introduces a TON of characters, and is a helluva fun. The 3 leading characters were likeable; Terra the gullible idiot who gets played like a violin. Ven, who gets forced into the worst possible scenarios, and Aqua the person who fixes most of the messes caused by the above 2 characters and is a true keyblade master (try saying that sentence out loudlol!). Seriously BBS gets bonus for straight up introducing Aqua, one of the best KH characters period (2nd after Sora). Xehanort is fully established grand villain of the series, and jesus christ that guy is a magnificent bastard. The battle system is arguably the best in the series as well. The ability to customize is almost limitless, and the melding system was a great way to achieve skills at your own pace. Command styles were basically drives, but easier to use and more frequent too ^_^

So after BBS got released, my enthusiasm for KH kind of vanished. RELEASE KH3 NOW NOMURA, THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME! DO IT. We got KH: ReCoded.

It was bad.

So when DDD was announced, that was basically the last fucking straw. "Release KH3 now or... i'll stop buying shitty SE games! (we all know how that turned out :9). I wasn't impressed with the trailer, but I decided to give the actual game a chance and... DDD was actually good. It was really good. After I resigned myself to the fact that "we ain't getting KH3 for a long, long time" I found it a lot easier to appreciate this game.

DDD has arguably the best world's in the series. They're large, and fun to explore and abusing flow motion to get to places is obviously great. The world selection is small, but quality trumps quantity, and DDD has some of the best worlds in the series. Country of Musketeers, Symphony of Sorcery, The Grid and Pranksters paradise (Sora's side) are rank up there in my top favorite worlds of all time. Plot progression wise, DDD is unremarkable until near the very end where things start ramping up. The boss battles were great too.

Thoughts on time travel & the 13 Xehanorts? I love it, screw the haters. Nomura established some very strict rules for time travelling so he won't end up fucking himself over with plot inconsistencies. Time travel is fun when executed properly :D. I basically can't wait for KH3 now (DDD re-lit the KH spark) but knowing SE, we won't get it until 2015 at the earliest :/

7 Lights are probably Sora / Riku / Mickey / Kairi* / Aqua* / Lea* / Ven*

(*obviously means that they're not guaranteed)

Finally, somebody that actually gave ddd a chance instead of being all 'it isn't kh3 so it must be shit ghejghdjfkgb'...

In any case, from what I've heard kairi was basically confirmed to be one of the lights in the secret ending of ddd. Lea is also an extremely strong candidate, and Roxas shouldn't be ruled out after what we learned about nobodies devloping hearts. Basically right now there are about 10 keyblade wielders that *could* be lights...riku, Mickey, and kairi are basically 100% locked by now. As for the rest, we have sora, aqua, ventus, Roxas, lea, and to a lesser extent xion and ansem...come on nomura we need some help here!

Let's see, Sora wavered right before the fight with Xemnas, meaning that he himself is not sure of which side he wants to be on. Aqua is extremely likely as she is in the realm of darkness currently (along with Ansem). Ven and Roxas can't coexist, so odds are Ven is one of the 7, but not Roxas. Lea has a keyblade yes, but from my understanding, he only rescued Sora in hopes that he could figure out a way to bring back Roxas. Xion died and would end up absorbing the strength of Sora anyway, so that probably won't happen. Ansem is the only character from that list that hasn't been established as a keyblade wielder.

It's actually pretty likely that these battles don't have to take place all at once in the same time period. The only reason is because I'm pretty sure Terra is past the point of getting back, even though the BBS secret ending would say otherwise.

</3 Isa being established as a major villain (again)

question: at the end of both BBS and DDD secret endings there was a final message....

"RECONNECT"
KINGDOM HEARTS

Any ideas as to what this means? clearly it has something to do w/ KH3...

Also I was more fond of KH2 than alot of the other people, but hey what can ya do? :p. My rankings go KH1 > KH2 > BBS > DDD for reasons that have all been talked about already. Oh and did anything else kind tear up when Aqua shed a tear after hearing Sora's name??? It was so pretty dang amazinggg.

Yondie what was the DDD secret ending? I feel like the reconnect thing might be a reference to BBS and DDD basically connecting the past and current generations of Keyblade wielders. Also I don't think you ever said why you didn't like DDD~

Also there's no reason why Ven and Roxas can't coexist-they are coexisting right now, and once Sora gives Ven his heart back (which will definitely happen in KH3) it is highly likely that Roxas will be able to split off from Sora (like he was for most of KH2) and be one of the lights. Also, yes, Aqua, and by extension Ansem, will almost definitely be freed from the Realm of Darkness at some point. There's no absolute reason that the battle has to take place in one time period (although DDD kinda suggests otherwise), but keep in mind Terra may very well not be one of the lights, which Xehanort kind of alluded to. Actually I wouldn't be surprised to see him as one of the darknesses in some form.

Also, some food for though; what determines what somebody's Keyblade looks like? Does anybody have any ideas?

I didn't like DDD because I am not a huge fan of 3DS to begin with. Flow motion was kinda stupid imo (cool at first, but got really old very quickly). I also didnt like the dream eater spirit thing I thought it was kinda lame. The story was important and all, but I just didn't feel the same magic like I did in the other 3.
This ending also implies that the 7 lights are: Sora, Riku, Mickey, Aqua, Ven, now Kairi and I believe the last light could be Yen Sid instead of Terra... but that's just me it'll probably end up being terra. I guess Lea is a possibility now too..

edit: all i remember is yen sid saying he wasn't a key blade 'master' anymore

Yen Sid is no way. He's formally said he's not a keyblade wielder anymore and Nomura wouldn't suddenly reverse that. Lea is just much more likely.

Master Eraqus. Why are we all forgetting him? He's also a viable seventh light.

I think he's dead...and besides, I don't think Nomura wants the old guys to be the lights. This is more about the new generation stepping up I think.

I'm a bit confused on to how Kairi can be a princess of heart and her own pure light guardian, then again the the whole back story of KH is so convoluted it might be based on the whole "her heart was with Sora's" thing from before.

I don't think it's that complicated. She's a princess of heart and a keyblade wielder so she can be one of the seven protecting lights. I think that's all there is to it.

Aqua gave her the ability to use the keyblade IIRC, and Kairi was radiant gardens princess of heart.

God I hope he's dead. His death scene was one of the most powerful scenes in the series (only slightly marred by Terra's horrible VA). Some say his heart resides in Terra, but I hope they mean it symbolically or some shit. Like he's carried on his new will.

kingdomhearts3dsecretmessage.png

The secret message. The past will be awakened...sounds like Ven. But nothing not already speculated.

Some people speculate that the message means that they'll be remaking the first few games in HD. Probably for the PS3. Of course the last line means what everyone thinks it means.

I wish I could get back into Kingdom Hearts, but the shit has just gotten so ridiculous and convoluted...

I will always believe that Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of the greatest games of all-time. It was nearly flawless. But in the grand scheme of the series, everything after KH2 has been stupid and they're just trying to money-grab now. Enough shitty filler that means very little to the series as a whole (looking at you, Coded, you filthy disgrace), and just give us a legit KH3 now, please. Enough messing around with handhelds. I want a full-blown Kingdom Hearts 3 that's long, epic, challenging, and is actually tied to the story. Until then, I'm just going to cry to myself as I start Kingdom Hearts 2 over for the 2903754975th time, knowing that a legit KH3 is STILL not in my immediate future.

Sad to say that we will never get Final Mix games from Square, bar BBS. But keep dreaming and maybe you'll be able to alter your own reality (yay references!)
P.S. that would be pretty badass

You're probably right. SE is far too lazy of a company to translate / redub some scenes in english.

My heart is telling me to keep believing though.
