Kingdra (Uber ChestoRest)

K so I got the motivation to test this set out by seeing Atticus post the same set in OU QC and Fireburn post a ChestoRest for Kyogre in Uber QC. So I figured why shouldn’t this set work in Ubers if its so efficient in OU, so I tested. Results were what I expected. Half the time this Kingdra ends up playing the same way Standard Ubers Kingdra would, but ChestoRest has actually helped me pull off some sweeps like the standard dd king couldn’t have.

Why this set should be on-site:
• Functions great in Ubers, much like Standard DD Kingdra
• Rest + Chesto allows it to heal off damage increasing longevity, get multiple dragon dances, as well beat darkrai who can normally take one Waterfall/outrage
• Rest + Chesto also means Kingdra doesn’t mind Status, entry Hazards (as much) and Toxic Spikes, which plague Kingdra generally



Additional Comments:
• 176 speed EVs let it outspeed Scarfed Garchomp (In the Rain) while dumping the remainder in HP to maximize Bulk



Counters:
• Dialga Immediately threatens you as it is not OHKO’d by a +1 Outrage and you cannot rest on it due to its Dragon Attacks
• Groudon brings in sunlight and can take a +1 outrage, definitely the biggest counter to this (as well as all) kingdra set
• Lugia can setup reflect and phase Kingdra away while taking Kingdra’s hits



Teammates:
• Scizor makes a great teammate for Dragon Dance Kingdra due to its ability to function as a Dialga lure as well as being able to scout “safe” moments for Kingdra to come in
• Wobbuffet can Encore a Fire- or Water-type attack, a support move, or status move to allow Kingdra to have a free turn to use Dragon Dance.
• Kyogre, without a doubt, is mandatory due to bringing out rain for Kingdras swift swim ability, as well as Waterfall

Aww but you didn't put the log with my uber tentacruel in ... XD That aside it is a good set and does work, though if the same thing is being written for OU I think a mention of "This also works in ubers yadda yadda" in that sets AC would suffice because I dont think the moves would be any different.

The thing is ubers is a much different metagame than OU and therefore requires different teammates, different checks and counters, and different elaborations. It would be much too bulky to shove it all in one set.

oh, that tentacruel was a bitch, well i didnt put it for two reasons: at that point i had enough logs and #2, haze tentacruel isnt exactly common and i deviated from all uncommon appearences. so if i saw random mons i wouldnt save logs.

and the ubers environment is completely different, i would have to right whole paragraphs on the same analysis so im not sure if thats best. I suppose qc can decide though. I personally feel it should get its own analysis

I read through the logs and I kept thinking to myself "What can this do that Kingdra in Ubers can't already?" This set (a variant of it at least) is obviously extremely effective in OU, but honestly, there was only one log when you absolutely needed the Chesto Berry, against Darkrai, which could have been better handled with a Manaphy. A +1 Waterfall would have done 70.2% - 82.7% (with the current spread you have) to 244/76 Scizor in the rain, meaning the Rest and Chesto are uneccessary. The one against Groudon was sort of iffy, it seems like you got pretty lucky with those damage roles, and I obvious can't calc the min/max output since Groudon has so many viable spreads. There is no doubt that Kingdra is a good Pokemon in Ubers, but this set is pretty outclassed by other Kingdra sets (especially mixed with its amazing wallbreaker abilities). For this reason, I'm rejecting this set, sorry.
