Isn't there a quite popular rom hack that already has Triage Grass/Fairy Meganium? ... based on past decisions by GameFreak, I feel that GameFreak researches what is "already out there" , and thus does things differently.

EDIT 1:
- It seems that Eelektross-Mega has an ability called Ion Battery. The description only shows up once in Teambuilder (something like levitate + 1.5x for electric moves) but then says "illegal" for description forever more. There's no way to look up what the ability does at the moment I believe.

EDIT 2:
Nevermind, you can look up the new abilities during battle with " /ds 'Ability Name' " . And also Meganium currently has Flower Veil, which seems fine!

Thank you so much OP and all those contributing to this!! It's a big achievement in my opinion to get this going so fast, and great choices for "filling in the blanks" , such as the great name "Brass Bond" and more!

Just stopping by to say how awesome it is we have an actual tier setup and so quickly. Giving out abilities is a great move.

Removing paradox mons is a bit sad but at the same time they were overshadowing the megas quite a bit in the recent tournaments hosting by blunder so its probably for the best.

Just dropping by to say thank you for giving Pyroar special Orichalcum. idc if its “too strong”, it is literally never ever going to be good for the foreseeable future (unless gamefreak actually gives it this lol) so I enjoy being able to actually muscle past mons with it. It doesn’t even look good while doing it.

That being said, if actually good players are saying it is consistently too strong then a downgrade to Drought, Competitive, and Adaptability have my votes. overall I think Adaptability would be best to boost it normal type moves and his “coverage” but Drought makes it useful to its team and having solarbeam is always nice.

Mega Scrafty's ability is now Shed Skin. A lot of people suggested this and I agree that it fits somewhat better flavorwise on the mega than Moxie, but there's still so many good choices for this. Open to ideas still.
idk if anyone suggested this but maybe a copy of shield dust flavored after covert cloak makes sense? considering mscraftys white hood and all. idk if itd be any good, but yea

Yeah my bad lol! I was just more or less trying to say not to repeat what has been done already, when 'filling in the blanks'. But good points really!

you clearly didnt read what i put.

i didnt say it was useless, i said it was significantly outclassed in almost every way to chesnaught bar 1 specific set without triage.

Well that’s kind of saying its useless.
But it’s also wrong too as the only roles they similarly have are being bulky Grass types, and even so Meganium has several advantages over Chesnaught.
Most obvious being typing. Both resist Water, Dark, Ground, and Grass, but unlike Chesnaught, Meganium isn’t weak to Fairy, Psychic, or x4 weak to Flying, which is usually worse than Meganium’s x4 weakness to Poison. Ironically that Fairy typing also means Meganium counters Chesnaught too since you resist Fighting.
The other advantage is totally blanking Parting Shot and Sableye/Mega Sableye. That’s a pretty big deal since Sableye is really good now and enables a bunch of offensive threats and crippling them. Mega Chesnaught can be threatened by Wisp, Toxic, Parting Shot, and Sableye can always come into Chesnaught and Encore it. Meganium can still be Encored, but only move that’s Encore weak is Synthesis, and Sableye gets OHKO’d by even uninvested Dazzling Gleam.
Might not seem that much, but Sableye is a menace with Parting Shot, and there are Scrafty and Pangoro.

I also would compare Meganium closer to something like Clefable because they have more similarities. But comparing Meganium to Chesnaught does make sense and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Well that’s kind of saying its useless.
its not, its the same story as mega latias - it has a niche as a para spreader with a good defensive typing, but you should otherwise just use mega latios. same applies for mega meganium; just use the stallbreaker set otherwise use chesnaught. if you want a fairy type, use clefable, florges, sylveon, or mega floette unless you're trying to stallbreak.
But it’s also wrong too as the only roles they similarly have are being bulky Grass types, and even so Meganium has several advantages over Chesnaught.

this isnt actually benefitial in practice, all the fairy types in the meta 1v1 meganium and the psychic types are starmie (beats meganium without triage), alakazam (just wins), gardevoir (barely viable + also wins with specs mfire), and the slow/glow twins. of that list, meganium handles 2. it also has very little support utility outside of the stallbreaking knock + dtail set.

this is partially why i said it has a niche as a stallbreaker, but thats not really even that helpful in comparison to just... stallbreaking.

clef isnt really similar at all outside of knock. clef has mguard, a much better defensive typing for the meta, rocks, actual coverage, and setup in calm mind. youre better off comparing it to mega floette or florges, both of which are generally superior.
 
First off just wanna say thanks for making this tier and giving everyone a ladder to try out the new Megas. Really happy this is a thing so quickly after the release of the game, even if it’s an unofficial pet mod. Personally I really like the dex being limited to ZA bc it actually feels like a different metagame I’m playing like some weird xy fusion with new Megas which I find cool. The only issue I have is national dex moves being in this mainly hidden power and toxic, I find these to be not fun to play with as they’ve been gone for multiple gens now and it just feels weird to have to account for something like HP ice pyroar when it already has a god ability. Also not crazy about boots or choice items being in it, but I think most people enjoy those so Im not gonna die on that hill. Don’t really have any complaints other than that - the custom abilities are cool, obviously some are going to be revealed to be imbalanced but like it’s a pet mod so who cares you just change it if it’s busted lol

I also dislike Hidden Power but to me Toxic is a good balancing tool in order to give defensive playstyles a lot of more diversification in the limited dex, especially without a tool like Tera in the picture. Also unsure about the multple gens justification, wasn't Toxic allowed on virtually every pre gen 8 mon for Sword and Shield? That'd only really be one gen (gen 9) where toxic wasn't everywhere.
 
Nobody talking about this but Pyroar is absolutely broken. I want to keep it a secret but it is legit one of the best special wallbreakers i've ever used. Basically Miraidon but with no immunities to worry about for it's boosted stab type. Absolutely nuts.

I completely agree with natdex learnsets, it's somewhat overwhelming at times but on the other end of the spectrum we have the issue of obnoxious hazard spam and zero hazard removal. I don't really know which is better but I also don't know if I wanna be the guy who bans stealth rock lol, but time will tell.

I've only built a little and haven't actually played, so take this with a grain of salt, but...

I think we should be able to mega evolve multiple mons per match.

Not only do I think this would make the meta more fun overall, but this would solve two issue:
1. People only getting to choose one mega despite the whole idea of the meta being to try the array of new megas
2. Making people use unviable mons to fill up slots due to the lack of viable non-megas

I dont like writing forum posts but... whatever. I'll give a quick sumamry on my mgyara thoughts because its probably the most shocking thing here (not ordered within ranks)

Mgyara kinda cooks the common clef, slowbro and mgren that are kinda everywhere, its good into zyg, it spreads para well and is super threatening into most other things. its also p nice into mphox despite the coverage and is alright into alternative waters. Also meowstic is so annoying who gave this guy every hazard with prankster.

Might as well just call the meta "Megas Only" at that point lol. The balancing would be absurd if 6 megas were allowed. You'd never see another mon lol
