Hey guys! myith314 here, after playing enough showdown and seeing what the current mainstream picks are, I more or less devised a team that either counters most of or a fair portion of the "meta picks". I hope to make this into a video exhibiting it's potential, I'll most likely post a link to the vid as a reply, but without further delay, let's get crackin'!
Terror Wing (Aerodactyl) (F) @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Brave Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Giga Impact
- Crunch
Ah yes, Aerodactyl, one of the series' swiftest since the very beginning. Let's start off with her Mega Evo, she kicks it off being the 6th fastest Pokemon with her Evo, losing only to Ninjask and Deoxys-Speed, tying with the likes of Mega Alakazam, and Normal and Attack Deoxys. 150 Base is not something to laugh at,combine that with a massive 135 Attack and Tough Claws makes for a potent slew of attacks. Sure he might not take the hardest punches in the world, but let's face it, one hard Giga Impact or Rock Slide is sure to leave a dent.
Yaminaki (Umbreon) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Mild Nature
- Moonlight
- Dark Pulse
- Toxic
- Confuse Ray
Umbreon is a very potent player in the field of tanks. 130 Sp Def and 110 Def are plenty enough to take a few hits, he can more or less shrug blows off with Moonlight and set up Poison and confusion in the midst. All while dealing counter damage to physical bruisers and giving status inflicters a taste of their own medicine. It's a wonder why no one considers him a contender for best Eeveelution.
Valkirai (Jolteon) @ Magnet
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naughty Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder Wave
Jolteon, on the other hand, is commonly seen as one of the best Eeveelutions out there. And, who could blame him? 130 Speed and 110 Sp. Atk. make him plenty a sweeper, but lets try a new twist. Jolteon is a sweeper scout, meaning that although he hits plenty hard with Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball(for pesky grounds), sometimes it's more fun to just tag in a buddy with Volt Switch or a Thunder Wave or two on some really fast sweepers.
Hwangxiang (Gengar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
- Psychic
Gengar, like Aerodactyl and Alakazam, finds himself as the O.G. of the OU tier from since the beginning. A special sweeper even to this day, more and more do people Mega Evo him for a kamikaze esq sweeper. I'm saying that the old bird deserves better, and decided to play into his favorite thing. Blowing everyone over with a solid 130 Sp. Atk and blowing by with a 110 Speed.
Longjintae (Garchomp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Crunch
Best physical sweeper ever. Oh Mega Kangaskhan? Mega Scizor? Heracross? Garchomp laughs and just demolishes anything standing in front of it. Unlike most physical sweepers adopted, except maybe Talonflame and Aerodactyl, Garchomp is wicked fast and even if there's a tank in front, you can assure that at least 1/5 of that bar's done in one shot.
Xingqi (Lucario) @ Lucarionite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
- Aura Sphere
- Dragon Pulse
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
Sometimes, Mega Aerodactyl just won't cut it. Thus was born Special Lucario...and yes SPECIAL. The main idea behind increasing his Sp Atk is to fully utilize Aura Sphere, not to mention that Mega Lucario gets bonus STAB off of an attack that never misses and has a base 60. Oh and Extremespeed pretty much blows by anything, even prankster, even fake out.
So there's my team. I refer to it as the anti-mainstream, mainly because most picks in the mainstream get counter-stomped or averted from sweeping. Here's a list of all of the "Mainstream Pokemon and their counter match.
Speed Boost Venipede:Aerodactyl(Mega or not)
Rotom(Any Form) :Jolteon, Garchomp
Poison Heal Gliscor: Ultimately anything with a massive burst
Mega Kangaskhan: Gengar or Lucario
Talonflame: Aerodactyl
Greninja: Lucario or Jolteon
Any tanks: Garchomp, Aerodactyl
So all in all, this team comp takes the cake on anything it takes on. I hope you enjoyed this. Thank so much for reading and I hope to have a video version of this real soon.
