I think the alternative Weepinbell evolution and Farfetch'd evolution being scrapped from Gold and Silver was a mistake.

finding out weepinbell was going to evolve into both a pitcher plant and a catcher plant but they cut it was a bummer
it was even baseball themed...

Speaking of the cut Weepinbell evolution, was there ever any evidence that its name was originally going to be Bellossom, or is it another Flygon situation of "yeah it sounds like this name was for a different mon at some point but no it really is just a coincidence"

If we're talking about the name "Bellossom" I would hazard a guess that Weepinbell's evolution was scrapped well before localization would get their hands on the game. It got the name because it kind of looks like a hand bell, its leaves make a bell sound and its Japanese name had bell in it (beacuse of the former 2 things)

If we're talking about said Japanese name, also no, since they coexisted and the Victreebel line never had the "bell" pun in Japanese. It was always about pitchers & buds, including Tsubomitto

The rooftops of most of the big buildings actually are their respective district’s color… they’re just so muted that they’re not terribly useful as an immediate visual distinction.

You know, before I posted this, I said "I wonder if there is some sort of an indicator and I've just missed it." And then I realized that if there is and it's so subtle that I can miss it, it's bad design on their part anyways.
