Megahorn Rhyperior
rhyperior.gif

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn

This Rhyperior set can switch in taking little damage and lure Reuniclus who could just set up again or Psyshock if expecting a Roar, Rhyperior will force Reuniclus out and the next time this switch It will be at less than 50% and né less of a threat, u can just weaken it again if needed.
If you don't have Z yet you can use Buginium Z to beat it better but it won't KO and it's not needed to lure Reuniclus and you lose passive recovery.

16+ Atk Rhyperior Megahorn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 222-262 (52.3 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Reuniclus Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Rhyperior: 84-99 (19.3 - 22.8%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 0 SpA Reuniclus Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Rhyperior: 126-148 (29 - 34.1%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Offensive LO Chesnaught

Chesnaught @ Life Orb
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Drain Punch
- Rock Slid/Earthquake
- Super Fang

Reuniclus is so bulky that generally checks Chesnaught; Magic Guard also makes Leech Seed useless.
This set allows Chesnaught to cut in half Reuniclus' HP and, then, OHKOing it with its STAB.
This EVs spread is unexpected because never expects a Chesnaught so fast. Adamant nature + max EVs are there to hit as much hard as possibile.
Super Fang acts as a jolly towards many otherwise checks and counters; the extra Spe punishes many switch-ins this way.

252+ Atk Life Orb Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 212-251 (50 - 59.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (OHKO after a Super Fang)

Virizion @ Grassium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge / Zen Headbutt
- Swords Dance

Virizion is an interesting choice in RU that often gets overlooked in favour of the more prominent (but slower!) Fighting types present in the tier. Grassium Z allows Virizion to break through Reuniclus, which otherwise has little trouble dealing with it thanks to maximum defense investment and Psyshock bypassing Virizion's great special bulk, hitting it on the physical side. However, after a Swords Dance boost Virizion can smack Reuniclus with a Bloom Doom, instead:

+2 248 Atk Virizion Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 382-451 (90 - 106.3%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

It needs some prior damage to ensure the OHKO on max HP/max Def variants but since Reuniclus does not commonly run Leftovers anymore and most opt for a good amount of speed (outspeeding Doublade + Milotic, when paralyzed) anyway, thus further cutting into its bulk, it shouldn't be hard to accomplish this requirement.

Alternatively, X-Scissor + Buginium Z can be used to surprise other, even bulkier Psychic types like Cresselia and Necrozma, further enhanced by the boosted Savage-Spin-Out that Buginium Z provides: (+2 248 Atk Virizion Savage Spin-Out (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 466-550 (109.9 - 129.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO). The idea of bug coverage on Virizion originated in ORAS UU to catch the omnipresent Celebi off guard. Generally, Grassium offers a greater spectrum of targets though, which is why it is preferred on most teams, being able to break Gligar on its own for instance.

Here is a replay from RUPL showcasing Virizion's worth (albeit not vs. a Reuniclus) in RU.

SD + Ghostium-Z Bewear

th

Bewear @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Superpower
- Shadow Claw

I saw this set brought up during Bewear's suspect, and while it was fairly outclassed by Pangoro/Hera as an SD breaker it's still a great lure for Reuniclus. Normal non-CB Shadow Claw only does 39 max, and Psyshock Reuniclus can 2HKO it/set up Trick Room and beat Bewear 1v1. Offensive Psychic variants obviously OHKO it. However, with SD + Ghostium, Bewear can blow Reuniclus back, doing 66-78 to fully defensive variants unboosted, and OHKOing the less common OTR variants, and completely blowing defensive CM back after an SD. If the defensive Reuniclus has some chip, it can even switch in on the Psyshock and proceed to KO with Never-Ending Nightmare without needing Swords Dance. Here's the calcs:

252+ Atk Bewear Never-Ending Nightmare (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 282-332 (66.5 - 78.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (Shadow Claw KOs after this)
+2 252+ Atk Bewear Never-Ending Nightmare (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 562-662 (132.5 - 156.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Bewear Never-Ending Nightmare (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Reuniclus: 410-484 (96.6 - 114.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

(Extra Note: this can function as a lure for cress/necro too)

(ayyy 200th post hype)

Week 4: Swords Dance Doublade
doublade.gif

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Shadow Claw/Sacred Sword/Toxic
- Shadow Sneak
Standard old Doublade. 59/150 physical bulk paired with an Eviolite allows it to act as a blanket check to a ton of physical attackers in the tier, while threatening to use them as setup fodder with Swords Dance and a priority move to bypass its pitiful base 35 speed. Iron Head is for STAB, Shadow Claw is typically chosen to allow Doublade to check Reuniclus lacking Shadow Ball, and Toxic is selected to let Doublade pressure common Doublade switch ins such as Mantine or Gligar.

WP Bewear

Bewear @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return/Facade
- Superpower
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

252+ Atk Bewear Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 110-130 (34.1 - 40.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+2 252+ Atk Bewear Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 218-258 (67.7 - 80.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This set aims to get a +2 boost stomaching one super-effective hit and activating Weakness Policy. Bewear has a workable bulk even on the special side thanks to its high base HP.
This way you can switch moves but still be threatening with the +2 boosts.

ill do dark z hc durant

durant.gif

Durant @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Hone Claws

+1 252 Atk Hustle Durant Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 324-382 (100.6 - 118.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Hustle Durant Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 216-256 (67 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Hustle Durant Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 110-130 (34.1 - 40.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

^ pretty effective lure since it ohkos with black hole eclipse at +1 atk. alternatively, a crunch + black hole eclipse also does the job.
grabbing a hc boost shouldnt be that hard tho since durant forces a lot of switches that can be capitalized on.

hc durant is the only durant set id ever endorse hustle is dumb

Araquanid @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Surf

252+ SpA Choice Specs Water Bubble Araquanid Scald vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Doublade: 236-282 (73.2 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Water Bubble Araquanid Surf vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Doublade: 270-318 (83.8 - 98.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Usually, Araquanids like to be physical, and with excellent physical defense with the Eviolite boost, Doublade will most likely to come in to an incoming Liquidation but voila. Even with a terrible base 50 Special Attack, the combination of Water Bubble and Choice Specs can boost the power of Scalds and Surfs to near infinity

When you look at Virizion and you have a Doublade, you think you have the counter, the only way Virizion SD could 2HKO Doublade is if it somehow get to +6 with Bloom Doom into Leaf Blade and it's still a roll, while +2 Iron Head will KO Virizion. That's where CM (with HP Fire) Virizion comes, you 2HKO most of the time after CM (100% with Rocks or when it loses at least 6% of it's HP) and can take Iron Head into Shadow Sneak even after Rocks.

Virizion @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

+1
252 SpA Virizion Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Eviolite Doublade: 152-180 (47.2 - 55.9%) -- 79.3% chance to 2HKO (guaranteed after Rocks)
252+ Atk Doublade Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 168-198 (52 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Doublade Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 84-100 (26 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Specs Araquanid lmao and Doublade even with Sacred Sword, shouldn't meant to beat Bewear, you can bluff Band with Bear but still...so I'm voting for my Virizion CM and Lord Esche's Durant (it's not exactly a lure but I love Darkinium Z because u have a +2 Boost or a Dark type nuke, it's very useful, it's probably my favorite set after Scarf).

Week 5: Curse Snorlax
snorlax.gif

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 188 HP / 128 Def / 192 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Frustration
- Rest
- Sleep Talk/Crunch
CurseLax! Snorlax's tried and true set. Thick Fat provides Snorlax with resistances to the common attack types Fire and Ice. Snorlax's commendable 160/110 special bulk allows it to act as a blanket check to special attackers, and potentially use them as setup fodder. Curse allows Snorlax to increase its both physical bulk and offensive power at the same time. Frustration is chosen for STAB. Rest provides Snorlax with recovery and longevity against status such as Toxic and burn. Sleep Talk is usually chosen over Crunch to prevent Snorlax from being setup fodder during Rest turns, however Crunch is an option to prevent Snorlax from being walled by Ghost types.

reserving taunt umbreon

197.png

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Taunt
- Foul Play

Umbreon is fat. Really fat! Fat enough to take a +1 frustration with ease. Normally a Snorlax wouldnt care and will just set up infront of it since only a crit foul play would save Umbreon's ass.
BUT!
Umbreon was sick of being used as set up fodder and has been plotting something nasty in order to counter this! He came up with the move Taunt!
Taunt basically shuts Snorlax down. Especially since Umbreon can just heal up with in the 3 Taunt turns back to full while taking max 49.4% from a +1 Frustration.

The obligatory calcs:
Receiving:
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Frustration vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 165-195 (41.8 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Dealing:
+1 0- Atk Umbreon Foul Play vs. +1 188 HP / 128 Def Snorlax: 133-157 (26.1 - 30.9%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

oh shit lol

Sneasel @ Life Orb
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

Low Kick does a hefty amount of damage to Snorlax, enough that any prior move aside from Ice Shard is likely to put it in KO range with some Stealth Rocks chip.

252 Atk Life Orb Sneasel Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 188 HP / 128 Def Snorlax: 328-387 (64.5 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Sneasel Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 188 HP / 128 Def Snorlax: 199-234 (39.1 - 46%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Sneasel Icicle Crash vs. 188 HP / 128 Def Thick Fat Snorlax: 87-103 (17.1 - 20.2%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Sand Veil / Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Defog / Stealth Rock
- Taunt

Taunt on Gligar allow you to have a reliable way to beat CurseLax and CM Reuniclus, two very threatening slow win condictions, Gligar is usually a fodder for Lax, but with Gligar is able to force it out (and 1v1 it if Snorlax allow it to), a spread with SpD for Salazzle can be used but it make Gligar worse against Snorlax and Reuniclus.

0 Atk Gligar Earthquake vs. +1 188 HP / 128 Def Snorlax: 67-81 (13.1 - 15.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 0 Atk Snorlax Frustration vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Gligar: 84-99 (25.1 - 29.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

bronzong.png

Bronzong @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Trick
- Earthquake

So luring this thing is actually borderline impossible since either Pokemon have coverage for it, or they flat out lose and are setup bait so... I resorted to some old gens that may hold up some value in this gen, even a slight one. Here is a DPP relic, except with a choice scarf instead of a choice band cause banded frustrations can hurt. So, Bronzong despite looking like a counter on paper (it resists normal, it must beat snorlax right?!) it is absolutely helpless the monster that is snorlax since they can just rest off the toxic, so you can proceed to cripple it by tricking it a scarf and getting some free leftovers. The fact that bronzong is still slower with a scarf than regular curselax (0 IVs -Spe scarf bronzong reaches 94.5 speed, which rounds down to 94 and Snorlax is base 30, so is 96 speed) comes really handy as well, since it can curse first and you can lock it into curse after the snorlax has used it.

CRIPPLED, AND LURED!

This could come handy to cripple other bulky setup sweepers perhaps... if Z-Moves werent a thing, lul.
