Banned deucer.

[OVERVIEW]

Primal Groudon serves as one of the most potent threats in the metagame thanks to the sheer number of roles it can take on at once due to its great offensive and supportive movepools, amazing typing under the harsh sun, and exceptional stats. Access to moves such as Stealth Rock and Swords Dance alongside powerful offensive STAB options in Precipice Blades and Overheat enables Primal Groudon to disrupt the majority of threats in the metagame, permitting it to fit in numerous teams that value the immense offensive support it can provide. Due to its well-balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand. Its typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xerneas, and Victini. Its ability, Desolate Land, also provides it with an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight, as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory. This same typing, however, leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it vulnerable to Blue Orb users. A lack of reliable recovery also severely hinders Primal Groudon's defensive sets, as it tends to get worn down quite easily when considering its susceptibility to entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock provides both Primal Groudon and its teammates with immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of its checks that may attempt to wall it such as Hippowdon and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can set up and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, dealing a significant amount of damage against most targets with the slight drawback of it being inaccurate. Earthquake can be used as a more reliable option; however, the decrease in power can be noticeable at times especially when facing threats such as Buzzwole, Arceus-Ground, and Mew. Rock-type coverage complements Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex, respectively, so that Primal Groudon can hit them with its Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much, such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod.

Set Details
========

This set calls for maximized investment in Attack EVs with an Adamant nature to fully capitalize on Primal Groudon's amazing offensive presence, allowing it to 2HKO the likes of Lucarionite Zygarde and Altarianite Landorus-T with Precipice Blades. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoid being KOed by Altarianite Landorus-T's Earthquake and Arceus-Ground's Judgment. More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon; however, forfeiting defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats it's supposed to. Alternatively, Primal Groudon can run more Special Defense by forfeiting investment in Attack to better check threats such as Magearna and Primal Kyogre. Red Orb is required for Primal Reversion, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker with Desolate Land to activate harsh sunlight and blessing it with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves that permits it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage it provides can be extremely beneficial in breaking through the opposing team much more consistently. Primal Groudon can often find the opportunity to set it up due to the numerous switches it can force when facing threats such as Magearna and Raikou. However, one must be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users that can reflect Stealth Rock such as Blissey, Mew, and Buzzwole. In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using its attacking moves or setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten common Sablenite users subsequently on the switch. Smack Down can be properly used to lure in and exploit threats that can switch into Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Latiasite Toxapex, and Skarmory, as it can scare out the aforementioned threats after grounding them, potentially giving it an opportunity to setup entry hazards or boost its Attack via Swords Dance.

Team Options
========

Primal Groudon appreciates partners that can check opposing Ground-types such as Zapdos, Skarmory, and Golisopod, as the aforementioned Pokemon cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness. Special attackers such as Magearna, Lunala, Darkrai, and Tapu Lele appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to break through walls like Blissey, Sablenite Magerana, and Gyaradosite Toxapex, while the aforementioned wallbreakers can dent walls that Primal Groudon may struggle with such as Hippowdon, Buzzwole, and Giratina. Other physical wallbreakers can help apply additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks, overwhelming the opposing team. Good examples include Terrakion, Ho-Oh, Entei, and Lucarionite Zygarde. While Primal Groudon can switch into certain neutral special attacks due to the small investment in special bulk, it can still be easily worn down if repeatedly brought in against threats such as Magearna and Raikou. Therefore, teammates that can ease its burden such as Entei and Aggronite Mew may be beneficial as well. Pokemon that can use Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep late-game as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover their own checks as a result. Good examples of this include Celebi, Giratina-O, and Altarianite Zygarde. Entry hazard removal or reflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey, and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently, as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful, as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing its longevity immensely.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and its teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, allowing it to target the Fire-, Steel-, and Electric-types it's intended to check such as Raikou, Victini, and Magearna while still dealing consistent damage against most neutral targets. Overheat is a powerful secondary STAB option especially under the harsh sunlight that can break through threats that would like to come into Primal Groudon's Ground-type attacks such as Arceus-Ground and Aggronite Buzzwole. The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to its team, as it usually forces out offensive threats due to the fear of Overheat. Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, letting it check physical threats slightly better. Toxic is a great utility move that can cripple opposing walls such as Gliscor, Mew, and most support Arceus formes, preventing them from switching into Primal Groudon repeatedly throughout the match. Primal Groudon can run Roar over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping its team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to its other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

Set Details
========

160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. The rest of its EVs are invested in both HP and Special Defense to turn Primal Groudon into a respectable specially defensive tank that can check certain attackers such as Magearna, Azelf, Raikou, and Manaphy more consistently, allowing it to avoid the 2HKO from their coverage moves. Primal Groudon can still choose to run maximum investment in Special Defense with a Sassy nature to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcarona, but the lack in physically defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers like Kartana and Zeraora have a slightly easier time breaking through it. Desolate Land sets harsh sunlight, granting Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves, permitting it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy. Red Orb is required to undergo Primal Reversion, granting Groudon an additional Fire typing that lets it check Fairy- and Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against most specially attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcarona, force them out, and proceed to set up Stealth Rock reliably. However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible so it can pivot in against threats such as Entei and Magearna without being worn down. Therefore, sacrificing a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely. Moreover, Primal Groudon should set Stealth Rock whenever it is able to force a switch, as it can otherwise be worn down rather quickly if it chooses to set it up versus threats such as Terrakion and Kartana. Overheat is best used to hit key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move, as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free. Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Arceus-Fairy, severely hampering their longevity as they come in in an attempt to check Primal Groudon. Be mindful of common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can reflect Stealth Rock and Toxic, which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Manectite Mew, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon, as they help deal with the threats that can break through it like Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Wallbreakers that can capitalize on Primal Groudon's ability to set up Stealth Rock such as Kartana, Tapu Lele, and Zygarde may be considered as well due to the entry hazard chip weakening down their respective checks. Entry hazard removal can be very useful for Primal Groudon, as it is often pivoted in against many attacks, and the chip damage can wear it down significantly. Good partners for this role include Mew, support Arceus formes, and Zapdos. Due to Primal Groudon's ability to check most Magearna variants, teammates that are otherwise weak to Magearna such as Darkrai, Tapu Lele, and Arceus-Fairy pair well with it. Cleric support from teammates like Blissey and Magearna is also recommended due to Primal Groudon's tendency to be statused by the threats it usually comes in against such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod. Blissey is especially useful for passing Wish to Primal Groudon, which can help increase its longevity immensely.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock provides immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance is an alternative option if another teammate already has Stealth Rock, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdon after one setup boost. It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T due to it acting as a hybrid of its previous sets. Precipice Blades acts as a primary Ground-type STAB move that hits most neutral targets incredibly hard even when unboosted. Overheat is Primal Groudon's secondary STAB option that decimates the majority of its physical checks such as Arceus-Ground, Buzzwole, and Skarmory under the harsh sunlight, making Primal Groudon incredibly difficult to properly account for defensively. Eruption is a slightly more powerful option that can be used instead, as it does not lower Primal Groudon's offensive capabilities after every use; however, it relies on it staying relatively healthy. Stone Edge is a great coverage option that lets Primal Groudon target Flying-types that would like to come in against its Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Ho-Oh, and Pinsirite Entei. Smack Down may be used instead with the added benefit of grounding the aforementioned Flying-types so that Primal Groudon can target them with its Ground-type moves the following turn. However, it inflicts much less damage overall. Hidden Power Ice is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in and take out common Dragon-type switch-ins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, Zygarde-C, and Rayquaza, all of which can stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves. Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switch-ins, which include Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring them for the rest of the match.

Set Details
========

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred, as the reduced Defense from a Lonely nature would give Primal Groudon a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei and Kartana, and it still lets Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible both physically and specially. A Naive nature may also be used to maximize Primal Groudon's Speed, letting it outpace threats such as Adamant Altarianite Zygarde and Manectite Magearna. A Naive nature also allows it to outspeed threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Lunala with Sticky Webs support. However, the extra boost in power provided by a Naughty nature is usually more useful in most cases. Desolate Land provides Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves and a boost to its Fire-type STAB moves, letting it deal colossal damage to most neutral targets. Red Orb is required to allow Groudon to undergo Primal Reversion, turning it into a devastating wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

This Primal Groudon set aims at punching holes through the opposing team by utilizing its amazing mixed offensive potential to break through the majority of defensive threats in the tier. This means that Primal Groudon should primarily be using its STAB moves throughout the beginning of the match in order to wear down opposing walls for its teammates. Stealth Rock should be used when Primal Groudon can force and incoming check to switch in, as it can leave itself in a disadvantageous position if it decides to use the utility option versus common Magic Bounce users such as Blissey and Mew alongside other defensive threats that can threaten to wear it down immensely like Gliscor and opposing Primal Groudon. If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can exploit the switches it forces as an opportunity to set up and potentially break through its aforementioned checks. Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdon, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally, as otherwise it will be forced to switch out because of the Special Attack drops. If running Eruption, Primal Groudon should prioritize conserving its health to maximize the power of its Fire-type STAB move. Toxic is a great way to punish incoming defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options; however, be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again, as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Team Options
========
Additional wallbreakers such as Cameruptite Magearna and Tapu Lele can help provide additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks like Lucarionite Zygarde, Giratina, and Latiasite Toxapex, while the aforementioned threats also appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to set up Stealth Rock in return. Checks to opposing Ground-types, which include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh, can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon, as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight. Sticky Web support from setters like Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion, Kartana, and Tapu Lele; however, it should be noted that Primal Groudon should be running a Naughty nature if used in conjunction with Sticky Web. Partners that can set up Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOs against targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Alternatively, team members that can remove entry hazards such as Arceus-Ground, Zapdos, and Mew aid Primal Groudon by removing entry hazards that can wear it down over time. Partners that can combat offensive Sticky Web teams may also provide utility considering Primal Groudon's weakness to the aforementioned archetype. Good examples include Altarianite Zygarde, Pinsirite Kartana, and Yveltal. Cleric and Wish support from partners like Blissey, Magearna, Shaymin-S, and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its longevity immensely and increasing the power of its STAB move as well.

Rock Polish enhances Primal Groudon's Speed to respectable levels, enabling it to outpace key threats such as Diancite Tapu Lele, Terrakion, and Darkrai after one boost. Fire Blast is an incredibly powerful STAB move when used in conjunction with the harsh sunlight, permitting Primal Groudon to heavily dent most neutral targets that it hits, including most support Arceus formes. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's secondary STAB move, hitting the specially defensive walls that otherwise stomach its primary STAB move such as Blissey and opposing defensive Primal Groudon for considerable damage. Hidden Power Ice is a great coverage option that covers the Dragon and Flying-types that can otherwise wall Primal Groudon's STAB moves such as Zygarde, Mega Salamence, and Giratina-O. Stone Edge may be used instead to hit specific targets such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod for more considerable damage; however, Hidden Power Ice generally provides more coverage.

Set Details

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred, as the reduced Defense from a Lonely nature would give Primal Groudon a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei, and it still lets Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible both physically and specially. The Speed investment allows Primal Groudon to outspeed Necrozma-DM without any boosts and outspeed key threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Ultra Necrozma with Sticky Web support. Desolate Land amps up the power of Primal Groudon's Fire-type moves, letting it hit most neutral targets incredibly hard under the harsh sunlight. It also lets Primal Groudon soak up any Water-type moves used against it, enabling it to check threats it would otherwise be unable to like Primal Kyogre and Manaphy. Red Orb is equipped to allow Groudon to undergo Primal Reversion, turning it into one of the best mixed wallbreakers in the tier.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon should only set up once checks such as Venusaurite Hippowdon, Blissey, Ho-Oh, Lunala, Gliscor, and Arceus-Ground have been properly weakened beforehand, as it can otherwise lose the offensive momentum it needs if the aforementioned threats are kept relatively healthy beforehand. Its STAB moves should be spammed the majority of the time due to how much damage they can do against most neutral targets, where coverage options such as Hidden Power Ice and Stone Edge should be used to hit threats such as Zygarde and Ho-Oh, respectively.

Team Options
========

Due to this set's lack of Stealth Rock, partners that can set up the entry hazard are extremely beneficial, as they can wear down Primal Groudon's checks in Ho-Oh, Golisopod, and Zapdos. Good setters include Landorus-T, Arceus-Fairy, and Terrakion. Offensive threats such as Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Darkrai appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to break through most defensive cores, where the aforementioned threats can often clean up late-game once Primal Groudon has broken down walls such as Mew and Skarmory. Partners that can cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness to Ground-type threats when factoring in the effects of Desolate Land such as Golisopod, Landorus-T, and Pinsirite Cobalion may be useful, as they provide Primal Groudon a fail-safe option in covering Pokemon such as Arceus-Ground and opposing Primal Groudon. Entry hazard removers like Zapdos and Arceus-Ground can provide utility in eliminating the entry hazard chip damage that may severely weaken Primal Groudon throughout the match and leave it prone to being revenge killed. They also relieve it from the potential Speed drop of Sticky Web, which can otherwise hamper its sweeping capabilities.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

The combination of Rest + Swords Dance turns Primal Groudon into a potent stallbreaker that can set up against threats such as Blissey and Arceus-Fairy without the fear of being worn down by Toxic. However, the use of this set often requires cleric support as a result. Primal Groudon may choose to opt for a devastating setup sweeping set that features both Rock Polish and Swords Dance, turning it into an incredibly difficult threat to account for both offensively and defensively. However, Primal Groudon rarely finds the opportunity to set up both boosting moves in a game due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats deterring the overall effectiveness of the set. Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey; however, the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively. Sets utilizing the combination of RestTalk + Lava Plume may be used on more defensive teams, providing them a strong check to threats like Magearna. Toxic can be incorporated on Swords Dance sets to cripple Primal Groudon's checks in Arceus-Dragon and Giratina-O. However, this is often not needed, because Primal Groudon can already break through most walls when boosted. Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunder, Hidden Power Ice, and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory, Golisopod, and Lucarionite Zygarde; however, it causes Primal Groudon to be more easily checked by specially defensive walls like Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-resistant Pokemon like Venusaurite Zapdos.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor can all threaten to heavily dent or outright KO Primal Groudon through their STAB attacks. However, they all must be careful switching in against Primal Groudon's STAB moves, as they can risk being KOed themselves, especially by offensive Primal Groudon sets.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Giratina, Arceus-Dragon, and Mega Salamence can all both offensively and defensively check Primal Groudon, depending on the set they choose to run. They all resist Primal Groudon's Fire-type STAB moves and usually can take on its other coverage options unless it chooses to opt for Hidden Power Ice .

**Flying-types**: Apart from being completely immune to Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves, Flying-types such as Arceus-Flying, Venusaurite Mandibuzz, Zapdos, and Ho-Oh can all handle most of Primal Groudon's other coverage moves. However, they must be wary of certain offensive options such as Stone Edge, Smack Down, and Hidden Power Ice.

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Venusaurite Hippowdon, and support Arceus formes can all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves. However, Primal Groudon can easily muscle through the aforementioned threats if it manages to set up a Swords Dance boost or get Toxic off to cripple them.

**Blue Orb Users**: Pokemon that often carry Blue Orb such as Golisopod, Primal Kyogre, and Skarmory can all switch into Primal Groudon's Fire-type moves thanks to the heavy rain and proceed to threaten it out with either their Water-type STAB moves or status moves like Toxic. However, they cannot be relied on entirely, as Primal Groudon can easily revert the weather to the harsh sunlight when it comes in.

**Toxic**: Toxic can severely hinder Primal Groudon if it lacks cleric support from its teammates due to its lack of reliable recovery, and common users such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod can often lure in Primal Groudon and cripple it.

[OVERVIEW]

* Primal Groudon serves as one of the most potent threats in the metagame thanks to the sheer amount of compression it can form due to its great offensive and supportive movepool, amazing typing under the harsh sun, and exceptional stats which lets it perform multiple roles.
* Having access to moves such as Stealth Rock and Swords Dance alongside powerful offensive STAB options in Precipice Blades and Overheat enable Primal Groudon to disrupt the majority of threats in the metagame, permitting it to fit on numerous teams that value the immense offensive support it can provide. Due to it's well balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter how it chooses to run its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand.
* It's typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xeneas, and Victini. It's ability in Desolate Land also provides it an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight. Mention specifically what attackers it checks with that ability - Pokemon such as Primal Kyogre and Golisopod fail to muscle through it despite being modest switchins on Primal Reversion. The same can be said for Skarmory, which if Primal Groudon is brought on something it checks, it can easily force it out and do damage where the user is dependent on checking it.
* This same typing however leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it prone to Blue Orb users. I can't stress enough how much you NEED to mention Lucarionite Zygarde here. Its STAB is powerful enough to outright OHKO Primal Groudon whilst its typing protects against every set that isn't HP Ice - it can be REALLY tough for it to get past.
* A lack of reliable recovery alongside the inability to run items such as Leftovers severely hinders defensive sets as Primal Groudon tends to get chipped quite easily when considering entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Moves

* Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammate immense support by chipping down opposing threats.
* Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of it's checks that may attempt to wall it such as Arceus-Water and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can setup and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably as a result.
* Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, dealing a significant amount of damage against most targets with the slight drawback of it being inaccurate. Earthquake can be used as a more reliable option, however the decrease in power can be noticeable at times especially when facing threats such as Buzzwole and Mew. Note that this also has problems punishing Pokemon like Arceus-Ground that would otherwise be forced to recover when faced with hazard damage from the likes of Stealth Rock or Toxic Spikes.
* Rock-type coverage compliment's Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon for Primal Groudon like Zapdos and Latiasite Toxapex so that it can hit them with it's Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much such as Gliscor and Ho-Oh. Ho-oh is kind of a poor example here. I would rather mention how Latiasite Toxapex walls Primal Groudon if it isn't carrying Smack Down
* Fire Punch may be run as an alternative coverage option, providing Primal Groudon a secondary STAB move which deals incredible damage to most neutral targets under the heavy sunlight. Although this means it can be checked by certain threats such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Blue Orb Golisopod more reliably as a result.

Set Details
========

* 200 EVs in Attack alongside an Adamant nature ensures that Primal Groudon can OHKO Cameruptite Magearna with Precipice Blades alongside 2HKOing other miscellaneous threats such as Lucarionite Zygarde and Salamencite Landorus-T with it's coverage moves. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoid the 2HKO from moves such as Shadow Ball and Ice Beam from Cameruptite Magearna.
* More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor and opposing Primal Groudon, however the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats its supposed to as a result.
* Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker.
* Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.

Usage Tips
========

* Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage they provide can be extremely beneficial in aiding Primal Groudon and it's teammates break through the opposing team much more consistently. Primal Groudon can often find the opportunity to set them up due to the numerous switch ins it can force when facing threats that it can scare out such as Magearna and Raikou.
* However, one must be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users that can deflect the use of Stealth Rock such as Blissey, Mew, and Gliscor. In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using it's attacking moves or potentially setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten out common Sablenite users subsequently.
* While Primal Groudon can switch into certain neutral Special Attacks due to the set's little investment in special bulk, it can still be easily chipped if repeatedly brought in against threats such as Magearna and Raikou. Therefore, it should attempt to conserve it's HP as much as possible by only coming in against weaker attacks coming off of threats such as Arceus-Fairy, Entei and Zapdos as a result. In most cases, for a Primal Groudon, this is completely unavoidable - this is better in Team Options where mentioning teammates like Entei that remove pressure from Magearna in particular makes for a good way to solve an issue like this. Note that all three of the weaker attackers can use Toxic which will put Primal Groudon in range of certain SD + SR checks like Manectite Mew, and so getting off a free switch somewhere is arguably more important than this point, as it is able to battle Defoggers that would otherwise be capable of beating not only it but removing its capability of setting Stealth Rock.
* Smack Down can be properly used to lure in threats that can switch into Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Latiasite Toxapex, and Skarmory, as it can scare out the aforementioned threats after grounding them potentially giving it an opportunity to setup entry hazards or boost it's Attack via Swords Dance.

Team Options
========

* Primal Groudon appreciates partners that can check opposing Ground-types such as Zapdos, Gliscor, and Golisopod, as the aforementioned Pokemon cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness.
* Special Attackers such as Magearna, Lunala, Darkrai, and Tapu Lele appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to break through walls like Blissey, Sablenite Magerana, and Gyaradosite Toxapex, while the aforementioned wallbreakers can dent walls that Primal Groudon may struggle with such as Hippowdon, Buzzwole, and Giratina.
* Other physical wallbreakers can help apply additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks, overwhelming the opposing team as they struggle to properly handle the strain that Primal Groudon's team can apply. Good examples include Terrakion, Mega Salamence, Ho-oh, Entei and Lucarionite Zygarde. Is Megamence really a good example here? Most steels are able to check it quite well
* Note Pokemon that can use a lot of Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder. Primal Kyogre is probably the main example I would put down here, although Golisopod is also a great one, main reason being Golisopod struggles with Dragons

* Entry hazard removal or deflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing it's sustainability immensely.

Moves
========

* Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammate immense support by chipping down opposing threats.
* Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, letting it target the Fire-, Steel-, and Electric-types it's intended to check while still dealing consistent damage against most neutral targets.
* Overheat is a powerful secondary STAB option especially under the harsh sunlight that can break through threats that would like to come into Primal Groudon's Ground-type attacks such as Arceus-Ground, Sablenite Zapdos, and Aggronite Buzzwole. Against certain spreads of Sablenite Zapdos, Primal Groudon is not able to do anything versus it at all, as Overheat will do under half. I would mention that its burst damage particularly helps Primal Groudon bring momentum in the favour of the user's team.
* Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, making it check physcal threats slightly better.
* Toxic is a great utility move which can cripple opposing walls like Gliscor, Mew, alongside most support Arceus formes, preventing them from repeatedly coming into Primal Groudon throughout the match as reliably.
* Roar can be run over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Xerneas, Magerna, and Kartana, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to it's other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.
I would probably re-order the mons that you should be forcing out:
Manaphy / Xerneas / -ate Zygarde

Set Details
========

* 160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. The rest of it's EVs are invested in both HP and Special Defense a to turn Primal Groudon into a respectable specially defensive tank that can check certain attackers such as Magearna, Azelf, Raikou, and Manaphy more consistently, avoiding the 2HKO from their coverage moves as well. A Sassy nature with maximum Special Defense investment may also be run to improve Primal Groudon's special defensive bulk, improving it's matchup against special wallbreakers as a result. Redundant with the next line.
* Primal Groudon can still choose to run maximum Special Defensive investment with a Sassy nature to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcarona, however the lack in physical defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers such as Kartana and Zeraoara have a slightly more easier time breaking through it.
* Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.
* Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, granting Groudon an additional Fire-typing which lets it check Fairy- and opposing Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

* Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against the majority of specially attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcarona, where it can proceed to set up Stealth Rock consecutively after forcing out the aforementioned threats. Note that it is VERY important to preserve Primal Groudon's HP, especially when there's a threat that can be checked multiple times like Entei that would otherwise run through the entire team. So sometimes it may just be better to sack a mon to preserve Primal Groudon's HP if a wincon would otherwise be able to do its job when Primal Groudon is eliminated.
* Overheat is advised to be used in luring in key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free.
* Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Arceus-Water, severely hampering their sustainability as they come in an attempt to check Primal Groudon.
* Be mindful for common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz and Blissey, as they can deflect the use of Stealth Rock and Toxic against them which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

* Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Aggronite Buzzwole, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon as they help deal with the threats that can break through it such as Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. For clarification, Lucarionite Zygarde is the most common and effective offensive check to this variant. It simply denies most SD variants momentum as it will check basically any set a number of times and Pain Split can happily ruin its night. Spreading Glare isn't good either - this is the Pokemon that capitalizes on defensive Don the most and honestly could be a good reason why Cleric support from Pinsirite Magearna is nice for it.
* Wallbreakers that can capitalize on Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock due to it weakening their respective checks such as Kartana, Tapu Lele, and Zygarde may also be considered as well. Rewrite this so that it ensures that the sentence is talking about Kartana, Lele and Zygarde as wallbreakers that profit off of Stealth Rock, not Pokemon that are weakened by Stealth Rock.
* Entry hazard removal can be very useful for Primal Groudon as it is often pivoted in against many attacks, where entry hazard chip damage can wear it down significantly. Good partners for this role include Mew, support Arceus formes, and Zapdos.
* Cleric support from teammates like Blissey and Magearna is also recommended due to Primal Groudon's tendency in being statused by the threats it usually comes in against such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod.

Moves
========

* Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance is an alternative option if another hazard setter is already placed on its team, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdown after one setup boost. Note that this can also be used to lure common checks to SD and to mixed variants by doing both roles at the same time, such as Landorus-Therian. Therefore, preserving Overheat may make your opponent less wary of what may come out next.
* Precipice Blades acts as a primary Ground-type STAB move which hits most neutral targets incredibly hard even when unboosted.
* Overheat is Primal Groudon's secondary STAB option which decimates the majority of its physical checks in the metagame such as Arceus-Ground, Buzzwole, and Skarmory under the harsh sunlight, making it incredibly difficult to properly account for defensively. Eruption is a slightly more powerful option that can be used instead as it does not lower Primal Groudon's offensive capabilities after every use, however it relies on it staying relatively healthy as a result.
* Stone Edge is a great coverage option which lets Primal Groudon target Flying-types that would like to come in against its Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Ho-Oh, and Pinsirite Entei. Smack Down may be used instead with the added benefactor of grounding the aforementioned Flying-types so that it can target them with its Ground-type moves the following turn. However, this incurs a much less powerful damage option overall.
* Hidden Power [Ice] is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in common Dragon-type switchins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza which can all otherwise stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves.
* Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switchins in Arceus-Water, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats for the rest of the match.

Set Details
========

* EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon would have a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei and Kartana, while still letting Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum. Note down a Naive nature here.
* Desolate Land provides Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves alongside powering up its Fire-type STAB moves, letting it deal colossal damage to most neutral targets.
* A Red Orb is required to allow Groudon to Primal Revert, turning it into a devastating wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

* This Primal Groudon set aims at punching holes through the opposing team by utilizing its amazing mixed offensive potential to break through the majority of defensive threats in the tier. This means that Primal Groudon should primarily be using its STAB moves throughout the beginning of the match in order to wear down opposing walls for its teammates.
* Stealth Rock should be used when Primal Groudon can ensure a forced switch in from an incoming check, as it can otherwise leave itself in a disadvantageous position if it decides to use the utility option versus common Magic Bounce users such as Blissey and Mew alongside other defensive threats that can threaten to wear it down immensely like Gliscor and opposing Primal Groudon.
Note that if running Swords Dance, Primal Groudon can also bluff a move when certain checks are coming in - very few Pokemon can properly check mixed SD Primal Groudon at all and therefore rely on offensive checks like Lucarionite Zygarde, which are damaged heavily by Overheat.
* Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Pinsirite Cobalion Landorus-Therian. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally as a result due to the drop in Special Attack after every use means it usually will be forced to switch out.
* Toxic is a great way in punishing defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options, however be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Team Options
========

* Additional wallbreakers such as Cameruptite Magearna, Lunala, Lucarionite Zygarde, and Tapu Lele can help provide additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks like Zapdos, Arceus-Water, and Latiasite Toxapex, while the aforementioned threats also appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock in return. There's a lot I'd do to reword this. The main checks to this set are generally Dragon-types like Lucarionite Zygarde, Giratina, Arceus-Dragon and even Kyurem can cause issues. Therefore, Cameruptite Magearna and Tapu Lele sound alright, however Lucarionite Zygarde generally has a different set of checks that would not be willing to immediately switch into Primal Groudon.
* Checks to opposing Ground-types can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight, where good examples include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh.
* Partners that can setup Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOes versus targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include the likes of Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Sticky Web support from setters such as Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion and, Kartana and Tapu Lele. Note that with Sticky Web, Primal Groudon is best off with a Naive nature instead of a Naughty one.
* Cleric and Wish support off of partners like Blissey, Magearna and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its sustainability immensely as a result.

Moves
========

* Rock Polish enhances Primal Groudon's Speed to respectable levels, enabling it to outpace key threats such as Diancite Tapu Lele, Terrakion, and Darkrai after one boost.
* Fire Blast is an incredibly powerful STAB move when used in conjunction with the harsh sunlight, permitting Primal Groudon to heavily dent most neutral targets that it hits.
* Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's secondary STAB move, hitting the specially defensive walls that otherwise stomach it's primary STAB move such as Blissey and opposing defensive Primal Groudon for considerable damage.
* Hidden Power [Ice] is a great coverage option that covers the Dragon-, and Flying-types that can otherwise wall Primal Groudon's STAB moves such as Zygarde, Mega Salamence and Giratina-O.
* Stone Edge may be used instead to hit specific targets such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod for more considerable damage, although Hidden Power [Ice] generally provides more coverage.

Set Details
========

Primal Groudon isn't really a check to Kartana.
* Desolate Land amps up the power of Primal Groudon's Fire-type moves, letting it hit most neutral targets incredibly hard under the harsh sunlight. It also lets Primal Groudon soak up any Water-type moves used against it, enabling it to check threats it would otherwise be unable to like Primal Kyogre and Manaphy.
* Red Orb is equipped to allow Groudon to Primal Revert, turning it into one of the best mixed wallbreakers in the tier.

Usage Tips
========

* Primal Groudon should only proceed to setup once it checks such as Venusaurite Hippowdon, Gliscor, and Arceus-Water have been properly weakened beforehand, as it can otherwise lose the offensive momentum it needs if the aforementioned threats are kept relatively healthy beforehand.
* Its STAB moves should be spammed the majority of the time due to how much damage it can do against most neutral targets, where coverage options such as Hidden Power [Ice] and Stone Edge should be used to lure in threats such as Zygarde and Ho-Oh respectively.
* Be wary of potential priority users such as Pinsirite Entei, Genesect, and Arceus, as they can all threaten to revenge kill Primal Groudon if it low on health. Therefore, it should only try to sweep once the aforementioned threats have been properly accounted for.

Team Options
========

* Due to this set's lack of Stealth Rock, partners that can setup the entry hazard are extremely beneficial as they can weaken down Primal Groudon's checks in Ho-Oh, Golisopod, and Zapdos. Good examples include Landorus-T, Arceus-Fairy, and Terrakion.
* Offensive threats such as Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Darkrai appreciate Primal Groudon's ability in breaking through most defensive cores, where the aforementioned threats can often clean up late game once Primal Groudon has broken down walls such as Mew and Skarmory.
* Partners that can cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness to Ground-type threats when factoring in the effects of Desolate Land such as Golisopod, Landorus-T, and Pinsirite Cobalion may be useful as they provide Primal Groudon a fall-safe option in covering Pokemon such as Arceus-Ground and opposing Primal Groudon.
Cover Defoggers. Sticky Web is a massive pain for Primal Groudon in the long run - defoggers that can get this off lategame really bring out Primal Groudon's ability to clean up with this set.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

* Primal Groudon may choose to opt for a devastating setup sweeping set that consists of the use of both Rock Polish and Swords Dance, turning it into an incredibly difficult threat to account for both offensively and defensively. However, it often gets outclassed by other fast setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Terrakion and Dragon Dance Zygarde who often require less support to pull off a sweep. The biggest problem with this is that it will never be able to get off two realistically in one game. Rock Polish does not help it much - most of its checks are built to stop this from ever happening.
* Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey, however the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively.
* The combination of Rest + Swords Dance turns Primal Groudon into a potent stallbreaker that can setup against threats such as Blissey and Arceus-Water without the fear of it being worn down by Toxic. Although, the use of this set often requires cleric support as a result. Move this to the first bullet point IMO - it's a lot more consistent than Double Dance as that often requires screens to pull off
* Primal Groudon can opt to run maximum Speed investment alongside Eruption on Sticky Web based teams in order to turn Primal Groudon into a capable offensive threat, outspeeding as many threats as it can while firing off powerful hits consecutively. However, this forfeits Primal Groudon's ability to check certain threats due to it being unable to invest in its defenses opposed to its other wallbreaking sets. Remove this.
* Pure RestTalk with Lava Plume can be mentioned on stall teams as a strong Magearna check
* SD + Toxic can also be mentioned for longer games where the mixed SD variant would not put in work
* Special attacking lure with (Overheat / Eruption, Earth Power, Thunderbolt. HP Ice) could be a mentionable one but note that it gets walled heavily by special tanks like Blissey and still struggles to deal with Fire resists

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor can all threaten to heavily dent or outright KO Primal Groudon through their STAB attacks. However, they all must be careful in switching in against Primal Groudon's STAB moves as they can be threatened to be KOed themselves, especially from offensive Primal Groudon sets.

**Dragon-types**: Note that a lot of Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Rayquaza, Arceus-Dragon... can make both good offensive and defensive checks.

**Flying-types**: A bunch of Flying-types (see, Arceus-Flying, Mandibuzz) can take on Primal Groudon and usually beat out its non-SD sets quite well

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Vensaurite Hippowdon, and Arceus-Water can all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves. Altashough, Primal Groudon can easily muscle through the aforementioned threats if manages to setup a Swords Dance boost or can cripple them itself through Toxic.

**Blue Orb Users**: Pokemon that often carry Blue Orb such as Golisopod, Primal Kyogre, and Skarmory can all switch into Primal Groudon's Fire-type moves thanks to the heavy rain and proceed to threaten it out with either their Water-type STAB moves or status moves such as Toxic. However, they cannot be relied on entirely as Primal Groudon can easily revert the weather to the harsh sunlight when it comes in.

**Toxic**: Toxic can severely hinder Primal Groudon if it lacks cleric support from its teammates due to its lack of reliable recovery, where common users such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod can often lure in Primal Groudon and deter it as a result.

It's ability in Desolate Land also provides it an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory.
* This same typing however leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon (I'd either include Landorus-Therian over Primal Groudon or include both) can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it prone to Blue Orb users.
* A lack of reliable recovery alongside the inability to run items such as Leftovers severely hinders defensive sets as Primal Groudon tends to get chipped quite easily when considering entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Moves
========

Earthquake can be used as a more reliable option, however the decrease in power can be noticeable at times especially when facing threats such as Buzzwole, Arceus-Ground, and Mew.
* Rock-type coverage compliment's Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon for Primal Groudon like Zapdos Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex so that it can hit them with it's Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much such as Gliscor and Latiasite Toxapex. Zapdos

Set Details
========

* 200 EVs in Attack alongside an Adamant nature ensures that Primal Groudon can OHKO Cameruptite Magearna with Precipice Blades (Not sure about this wording as pdon only needs 96+ attack to 1hko Cam Mage, but 200+ does give it a favorable roll to 1hko Sablenite Magearna)alongside 2HKOing other miscellaneous threats such as Lucarionite Zygarde and Salamencite Landorus-T with it's coverage moves. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoid the 2HKO from moves such as Shadow Ball and Ice Beam from Cameruptite Magearna.
* More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon, however the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats its supposed to as a result.

Usage Tips
========

* However, one must be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users that can deflect the use of Stealth Rock such as Blissey, Mew, and Gliscor (Sablenite Gliscor isn't very relevant anymore, perhaps Sablenite Buzzwole could be put in this spot as it does check non-Fire Punch variants of this set well). In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using it's attacking moves or potentially setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten out common Sablenite users subsequently.

========

* Primal Groudon appreciates partners that can check opposing Ground-types such as Zapdos, Gliscor (Skarmory is a better check to grounds such as Arc-Ground and Landorus-Therian), and Golisopod, as the aforementioned Pokemon cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness.
Good examples include Terrakion, Ho-Oh, Entei, and Lucarionite Zygarde.
* While Primal Groudon can switch into certain neutral Special Attacks due to the set's little investment in special bulk, it can still be easily chipped if repeatedly brought in against threats such as Magearna and Raikou. Therefore, teammates that can ease the burden off of Primal Groudon such as Entei and Aggronite Mew may be beneficial as well.
* Pokemon that can abuse Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder such as Primal Kyogre and Golisopod may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep lategame as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover the aforementioned threats's own checks as a result.

Moves
========

* Overheat is a powerful secondary STAB option especially under the harsh sunlight that can break through threats that would like to come into Primal Groudon's Ground-type attacks such as Arceus-Ground and Aggronite Buzzwole. The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to it's team as it usually forces in passive threats due to the fear of Overheat.
* Roar can be run over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to it's other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

Set Details
========

* Primal Groudon can still choose to run maximum Special Defensive investment with a Sassy nature with to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcorona, however the lack in physical defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers such as Kartana and Zeraoara have a slightly more easier time breaking through it.

Usage Tips
========

* Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against the majority of specially attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcorona, where it can proceed to set up Stealth Rock consecutively after forcing out the aforementioned threats.
* However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible due to it usually being pivoted in against threats such as Entei and Magearna which can wear it down significantly over time is brought in too liberally. Therefore, sacking a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely as a result.
* Be mindful for common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can deflect the use of Stealth Rock and Toxic against them which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

* Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Aggronite Buzzwole (Agg Buzz is a poor ground check to anything other than Zyg, perhaps replace with Manec Mew), Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon as they help deal with the threats that can break through it such as Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor.
* Wallbreakers that can capitalize on Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock such as Kartana, Tapu Lele, and Zygarde may be considered as well due to the entry hazard chip weakening down their respective checks.

Moves
========

It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T, due to it performing the role of two of its other sets at once. Therefore, conserving the use of Overheat may be beneficial.
* Hidden Power [Ice] is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in common Dragon-type switchins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza +Zygarde-Complete which can all otherwise stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves.
* Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switchins in Arceus-Water, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats for the rest of the match.

Set Details
========

A Naive nature may also be used to maximize Primal Groudon's Speed, letting it outpace threats such as Adamant Altarianite Zygarde and Manectite Magearna. However, the extra boost in power provided by a Naughty nature is usually more useful in most cases.

Usage Tips
========

If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can abuse the switchins it forces as an opportunity to setup and potentially break through its aforementioned checks, where moves such as Overheat can also be used to lure in threats that may still be able to check Primal Groudon when boosted such as Manectite Mew and Aggronite Buzzwole. You mention the point in the bullet below this one so no need for repetitiveness
* Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T.

========

* Additional wallbreakers such as Cameruptite Magearna and Tapu Lele can help provide additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks like Lucarionite Zygarde, Giratina, and Latiasite Toxapex, while the aforementioned threats also appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock in return.
Sticky Web support from setters such as Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion, Kartana and Tapu Lele. Although it should be noted that Primal Groudon should be running a Naughty nature if used in conjunction with Sticky Webs. Make this a sepperate bullet
* Cleric and Wish support off of partners like Blissey, Magearna, and Jirachi possibly can mention shaymin-sky with healing wish can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its sustainability immensely as a result.

Moves

* Rock Polish enhances Primal Groudon's Speed to respectable levels, enabling it to outpace key threats such as Diancite Tapu Lele, Terrakion, and Darkrai after one boost.
* Fire Blast is an incredibly powerful STAB move when used in conjunction with the harsh sunlight, permitting Primal Groudon to heavily dent most neutral targets that it hits such as support Arceus forms.

Set Details
========

* EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon would have a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei, while still letting Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum.

Usage Tips
========

========

* Entry hazard removers such as Zapdos and Arceus-Ground can provide utility in eliminating the factor of entry hazard chip that may severely weaken Primal Groudon throughout the match and leave it prone to revenge killing. They also relieve it from the potential Speed drop of Sticky Web, which can otherwise hamper its sweeping capabilities as well.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

* The combination of Rest + Swords Dance turns Primal Groudon into a potent stallbreaker that can setup against threats such as Blissey and Arceus-Water without the fear of it being worn down by Toxic. Although, the use of this set often requires cleric support as a result.
Primal Groudon also rarely finds the opportunity to setup both boosting moves in a game as well due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats, deterring the overall effectiveness of the set.
* Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey, however the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively.
* Sets utilizing the combination of RestTalk + Lava Plume may be used on more defensive teams, providing them a strong check to threats such as Magearna.
* Toxic can be incorporated on Swords Dance sets to cripple Primal Groudon's checks in Arceus-Water and Giratina. However, this if often not needed due to Primal Groudon already breaking through most walls when boosted.
* Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunderbolt (Thunder is a better lure for Skarmory/Golis imo but whichever you want to put is fine), Hidden Power [Ice], and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory and Lucarionite Zygarde, however it lets Primal Groudon be more easily checked by specially defensive walls such as Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-type resists like Venusaurite Zapdos.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Giratina, and Arceus-Dragon + Salamence can all both offensively and defensively check Primal Groudon depending on the set they choose to run, as they all resist Primal Groudon's Fire-type STAB moves and usually can take on its other coverage options unless it chooses to opt for Hidden Power [Ice].

**Flying-types**: Apart from being completely immune to Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves, Flying-types such as Arceus-Flying, Venusaurite Mandibuzz, and Ho-Oh +Zapdos can all handle most of Primal Groudon's other coverage moves. However, they must be wary of certain offensive options such as Stone Edge, Smack Down, and Hidden Power [Ice].

QC check 2/3. Very nice analysis only note is Arceus-Water needs to be removed from the analysis entirely as it will soon be unranked. I bolded every instance of Arceus-Water I saw but double check if I missed any. In most cases it can be substituted for Arceus-Dragon or just removed entirely

[OVERVIEW]

Primal Groudon serves as one of the most potent threats in the metagame thanks to the sheer amount of compression it can form due to its great offensive and supportive movepool, amazing typing under the harsh sun, and exceptional stats which lets it perform multiple roles. Having access to moves such as Stealth Rock and Swords Dance alongside powerful offensive STAB options in Precipice Blades and Overheat enable Primal Groudon to disrupt the majority of threats in the metagame, permitting it to fit on numerous teams that value the immense offensive support it can provide. Due to it's well balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter how it chooses to run its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand. It's typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xeneas, and Victini. It's ability in Desolate Land also provides it an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory.

This same typing however leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it prone to Blue Orb users. A lack of reliable recovery alongside the inability to run items such as Leftovers severely hinders defensive sets as Primal Groudon tends to get chipped quite easily when considering entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.
Lack of leftovers isn't worth mentioning. Basically nothing runs that lol, there's like hooh.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammate immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of it's checks that may attempt to wall it such as Hippowdon and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can setup and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably as a result. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, dealing a significant amount of damage against most targets with the slight drawback of it being inaccurate. Earthquake can be used as a more reliable option, however the decrease in power can be noticeable at times especially when facing threats such as Buzzwole, Arceus-Ground, and Mew. Rock-type coverage compliment's Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon for Primal Groudon like Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex so that it can hit them with it's Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much such as Gliscor and Zapdos. Fire Punch may be run as an alternative coverage option, providing Primal Groudon a secondary STAB move which deals incredible damage to most neutral targets under the heavy sunlight. Although this means it can be checked by certain threats such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Blue Orb Golisopod more reliably as a result.
This section is mostly good. Remove fire punch mention tho, and update to new set.

200 EVs in Attack alongside an Adamant nature ensures that Primal Groudon can have a chance to OHKO Sablenite Magearna with Precipice Blades alongside 2HKOing other miscellaneous threats such as Lucarionite Zygarde and Salamencite Landorus-T with it's coverage moves. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoid the 2HKO from moves such as Shadow Ball and Ice Beam from Cameruptite Magearna. More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon, however the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats its supposed to as a result. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker. Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.
Fix this set for new evs.
it's max attack, enough defense to live altarianite Eq from lando, rest in spd (lives groundceus judge, among other benchmarks). Mention increasing SpD at cost of attack as a potential trade off to better check mage.
Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage they provide can be extremely beneficial in aiding Primal Groudon and it's teammates break through the opposing team much more consistently. Primal Groudon can often find the opportunity to set them up due to the numerous switch ins it can force when facing threats that it can scare out such as Magearna and Raikou. However, one must be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users that can deflect the use of Stealth Rock such as Blissey, Mew, and Buzzwole. In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using it's attacking moves or potentially setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten out common Sablenite users subsequently. Smack Down can be properly used to lure in threats that can switch into Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Latiasite Toxapex, and Skarmory, as it can scare out the aforementioned threats after grounding them potentially giving it an opportunity to setup entry hazards or boost it's Attack via Swords Dance.

Team Options
========

Other physical wallbreakers can help apply additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks, overwhelming the opposing team as they struggle to properly handle the strain that Primal Groudon's team can apply. Good examples include Terrakion, Ho-Oh, Entei, and Lucarionite Zygarde. While Primal Groudon can switch into certain neutral Special Attacks due to the set's little investment in special bulk, it can still be easily chipped if repeatedly brought in against threats such as Magearna and Raikou. Therefore, teammates that can ease the burden off of Primal Groudon such as Entei and Aggronite Mew may be beneficial as well. Pokemon that can abuse Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder such as Primal Kyogre and Golisopod may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep lategame as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover the aforementioned threats's own checks as a result. Entry hazard removal or deflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing it's sustainability immensely.

Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammate immense support by chipping down opposing threats.
* Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, letting it target the Fire-, Steel-, and Electric-types examples it's intended to check while still dealing consistent damage against most neutral targets. Overheat is a powerful secondary STAB option especially under the harsh sunlight that can break through threats that would like to come into Primal Groudon's Ground-type attacks such as Arceus-Ground and Aggronite Buzzwole. The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to it's team as it usually forces in passive threats due to the fear of Overheat. Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, making it check physcal threats slightly better. Toxic is a great utility move which can cripple opposing walls like Gliscor, Mew, alongside most support Arceus formes, preventing them from repeatedly coming into Primal Groudon throughout the match as reliably. Roar can be run over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to it's other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. Primal Groudon can still choose to run maximum Special Defensive investment with a Sassy nature with to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcorona, however the lack in physical defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers such as Kartana and Zeraoara have a slightly more easier time breaking through it. Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, granting Groudon an additional Fire-typing which lets it check Fairy- and opposing Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against the majority of specially attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcorona, where it can proceed to set up Stealth Rock consecutively after forcing out the aforementioned threats. However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible due to it usually being pivoted in against threats such as Entei and Magearna which can wear it down significantly over time is brought in too liberally. Therefore, sacking a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely as a result. Overheat is advised to be used in luring in key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free. Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Arceus-Fairy, severely hampering their sustainability as they come in an attempt to check Primal Groudon. Be mindful for common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can deflect the use of Stealth Rock and Toxic against them which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Manectite Mew, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon as they help deal with the threats that can break through it such as Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Wallbreakers that can capitalize on Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock such as Kartana, Tapu Lele, and Zygarde may be considered as well due to the entry hazard chip weakening down their respective checks. Entry hazard removal can be very useful for Primal Groudon as it is often pivoted in against many attacks, where entry hazard chip damage can wear it down significantly. Good partners for this role include Mew, support Arceus formes, and Zapdos. Cleric support from teammates like Blissey and Magearna is also recommended due to Primal Groudon's tendency in being statused by the threats it usually comes in against such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod.

Stealth Rock is great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance is an alternative option if another hazard setter is already placed on its team, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdown after one setup boost. It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T, due to it performing the role of two of its other sets at once. Therefore, conserving the use of Overheat may be beneficial. Precipice Blades acts as a primary Ground-type STAB move which hits most neutral targets incredibly hard even when unboosted. Overheat is Primal Groudon's secondary STAB option which decimates the majority of its physical checks in the metagame such as Arceus-Ground, Buzzwole, and Skarmory under the harsh sunlight, making it incredibly difficult to properly account for defensively. Eruption is a slightly more powerful option that can be used instead as it does not lower Primal Groudon's offensive capabilities after every use, however it relies on it staying relatively healthy as a result. Stone Edge is a great coverage option which lets Primal Groudon target Flying-types that would like to come in against its Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Ho-Oh, and Pinsirite Entei. Smack Down may be used instead with the added benefactor of grounding the aforementioned Flying-types so that it can target them with its Ground-type moves the following turn. However, this incurs a much less powerful damage option overall. Hidden Power [Ice] is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in common Dragon-type switchins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, Zygarde-C, and Rayquaza which can all otherwise stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves. Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switchins in Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats for the rest of the match.

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon would have a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei and Kartana, while still letting Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum. A Naive nature may also be used to maximize Primal Groudon's Speed, letting it outpace threats such as Adamant Altarianite Zygarde and Manectite Magearna. However, the extra boost in power provided by a Naughty nature is usually more useful in most cases. Desolate Land provides Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves alongside powering up its Fire-type STAB moves, letting it deal colossal damage to most neutral targets. A Red Orb is required to allow Groudon to Primal Revert, turning it into a devastating wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be used when Primal Groudon can ensure a forced switch in from an incoming check, as it can otherwise leave itself in a disadvantageous position if it decides to use the utility option versus common Magic Bounce users such as Blissey and Mew alongside other defensive threats that can threaten to wear it down immensely like Gliscor and opposing Primal Groudon. If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can abuse the switchins it forces as an opportunity to setup and potentially break through its aforementioned checks. Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally as a result due to the drop in Special Attack after every use means it usually will be forced to switch out. Toxic is a great way in punishing defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options, however be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Additional wallbreakers such as Cameruptite Magearna and Tapu Lele can help provide additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks like Lucarionite Zygarde, Giratina, and Latiasite Toxapex, while the aforementioned threats also appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to setup Stealth Rock in return. Checks to opposing Ground-types can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight, where good examples include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh. Partners that can setup Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOes versus targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include the likes of Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Cleric and Wish support off of partners like Blissey, Magearna, Shaymin-S, and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its sustainability immensely as a result.

Rock Polish enhances Primal Groudon's Speed to respectable levels, enabling it to outpace key threats such as Diancite Tapu Lele, Terrakion, and Darkrai after one boost. Fire Blast is an incredibly powerful STAB move when used in conjunction with the harsh sunlight, permitting Primal Groudon to heavily dent most neutral targets that it hits such as most support Arceus formes. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's secondary STAB move, hitting the specially defensive walls that otherwise stomach it's primary STAB move such as Blissey and opposing defensive Primal Groudon for considerable damage. Hidden Power [Ice] is a great coverage option that covers the Dragon-, and Flying-types that can otherwise wall Primal Groudon's STAB moves such as Zygarde, Mega Salamence and Giratina-O. Stone Edge may be used instead to hit specific targets such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod for more considerable damage, although Hidden Power [Ice] generally provides more coverage.

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon would have a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei, while still letting Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum. Red Orb is equipped to allow Groudon to Primal Revert, turning it into one of the best mixed wallbreakers in the tier.

Usage Tips

Primal Groudon should only proceed to setup once it checks such as Venusaurite Hippowdon, Gliscor, and Arceus-Ground have been properly weakened beforehand, as it can otherwise lose the offensive momentum it needs if the aforementioned threats are kept relatively healthy beforehand. Its STAB moves should be spammed the majority of the time due to how much damage it can do against most neutral targets, where coverage options such as Hidden Power [Ice] and Stone Edge should be used to lure in threats such as Zygarde and Ho-Oh respectively. Be wary of potential priority users such as Pinsirite Entei, Genesect, and Arceus, as they can all threaten to revenge kill Primal Groudon if it low on health. Therefore, it should only try to sweep once the aforementioned threats have been properly accounted for.
Priority is not really a threat to pdon.
Also definitally mention lunala / hooh / blissey as checks
Team Options

Due to this set's lack of Stealth Rock, partners that can setup the entry hazard are extremely beneficial as they can weaken down Primal Groudon's checks in Ho-Oh, Golisopod, and Zapdos. Good examples include Landorus-T, Arceus-Fairy, and Terrakion. Offensive threats such as Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Darkrai appreciate Primal Groudon's ability in breaking through most defensive cores, where the aforementioned threats can often clean up late game once Primal Groudon has broken down walls such as Mew and Skarmory. Partners that can cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness to Ground-type threats when factoring in the effects of Desolate Land such as Golisopod, Landorus-T, and Pinsirite Cobalion may be useful as they provide Primal Groudon a fall-safe option in covering Pokemon such as Arceus-Ground and opposing Primal Groudon. Entry hazard removers such as Zapdos and Arceus-Ground can provide utility in eliminating the factor of entry hazard chip that may severely weaken Primal Groudon throughout the match and leave it prone to revenge killing. They also relieve it from the potential Speed drop of Sticky Web, which can otherwise hamper its sweeping capabilities as well.

The combination of Rest + Swords Dance turns Primal Groudon into a potent stallbreaker that can setup against threats such as Blissey and Arceus-Fairy without the fear of it being worn down by Toxic. Although, the use of this set often requires cleric support as a result. Primal Groudon may choose to opt for a devastating setup sweeping set that consists of the use of both Rock Polish and Swords Dance, turning it into an incredibly difficult threat to account for both offensively and defensively. However, it often gets outclassed by other fast setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Terrakion and Dragon Dance Zygarde who often require less support to pull off a sweep. Primal Groudon also rarely finds the opportunity to setup both boosting moves in a game as well due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats, deterring the overall effectiveness of the set. Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey, however the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively. Sets utilizing the combination of RestTalk + Lava Plume may be used on more defensive teams, providing them a strong check to threats such as Magearna. Toxic can be incorporated on Swords Dance sets to cripple Primal Groudon's checks in Arceus-Dragon and Giratina. However, this if often not needed due to Primal Groudon already breaking through most walls when boosted. Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunder, Hidden Power [Ice], and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory. Golisopod, and Lucarionite Zygarde, however it lets Primal Groudon be more easily checked by specially defensive walls such as Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-type resists like Venusaurite Zapdos.
condense some of these points, sd + rp does not need that much description for one.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Giratina, Arceus-Dragon, and Mega Salamence can all both offensively and defensively check Primal Groudon depending on the set they choose to run, as they all resist Primal Groudon's Fire-type STAB moves and usually can take on its other coverage options unless it chooses to opt for Hidden Power [Ice].

However, they must be wary of certain offensive options such as Stone Edge, Smack Down, and Hidden Power [Ice].

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Vensaurite Hippowdon, and support Arcceus formes an all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves.

Due to it's its well balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter how it chooses to run its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand. It's Its typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xeneas, and Victini. It's Its ability, (AC) in Desolate Land, (AC) also provides it an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory.

A lack of reliable recovery alongside severely hinders Primal Groudon's defensive sets as Primal Groudon it tends to get chipped quite easily when considering entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's its teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of it's its checks that may attempt to wall it such as Hippowdon and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can setup and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably as a result. Rock-type coverage compliments's Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon with Levitate such as Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex, respectively, for Primal Groudon like Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex so that it Primal Groudon can hit them with it's its Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod.

EVs are maxed out in Attack with an Adamant nature to fully capitalize on Primal Groudon's amazing offensive presence, 2HKOing the likes of Lucarionite Zygarde and Altarianite Landorus-T with Precipice Blades. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoiding being KOed by Altarianite Landorus-T's Earthquake and Arceus-Ground's Judgement. More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon, however the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats its it's supposed to as a result. Alternatively, Primal Groudon can run more Special Defense by forfeiting investment in Attack to better check threats such as Magearna and Primal Kyogre. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker. Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage they provide can be extremely beneficial in breaking through the opposing team much more consistently. In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using it's its attacking moves or potentially setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten out common Sablenite users subsequently on the switch in. Smack Down can be properly used to lure in threats that can switch into Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Latiasite Toxapex, and Skarmory, as it can scare out the aforementioned threats after grounding them, (AC) potentially giving it an opportunity to setup entry hazards or boost it's its Attack via Swords Dance.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can abuse Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder such as Primal Kyogre and Golisopod may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep late-game as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover the aforementioned threats's own checks as a result. Good examples of this include Celebi, Giratina-O, and Altarianite Zygarde. Entry hazard removal or deflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing it's its sustainability immensely.

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and it's its teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. (you'll probably benefit from changing up the wording here to avoid repetitiveness since it's the same opener as the last set, but that's up to you) Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, letting allowing it to target the Fire-, Steel-, and Electric-types it's intended to check such as Raikou, Victini, and Magearna while still dealing consistent damage against most neutral targets. Overheat is a powerful secondary STAB option especially under the harsh sunlight that can break through threats that would like to come into Primal Groudon's Ground-type attacks such as Arceus-Ground and Aggronite Buzzwole. The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to it's its team as it usually forces in passive threats due to the fear of Overheat. Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, making it check physical threats slightly better. Toxic is a great utility move which can cripple opposing walls like such as Gliscor, Mew, alongside and most support Arceus formes, preventing them from having reliable switch-ins to Primal Groudon repeatedly coming into Primal Groudon throughout the match as reliably. Roar can be run over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to it's its other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

Set Details
========

160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. The rest of it's its EVs are invested in both HP and Special Defense to turn Primal Groudon into a respectable specially defensive tank that can check certain attackers such as Magearna, Azelf, Raikou, and Manaphy more consistently, allowing it to also avoiding the 2HKO from their coverage moves as well. Primal Groudon can still choose to run a maximum Special Defensive investment with a Sassy nature to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcorona, however the lack in physical defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers such as like (avoiding repetitiveness) Kartana and Zeraoara have a slightly more easier time breaking through it. Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing granting Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves, (AC) which permits permitting it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, granting Groudon an additional Fire-typing which lets it check Fairy- and opposing Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against the majority of specially attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcorona, where it can proceed to set up Stealth Rock consecutively reliably after forcing out the aforementioned threats. However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible due to it usually being pivoted in against threats such as Entei and Magearna which can wear it down significantly over time is if it's brought in too liberally. Therefore, sacking a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely as a result. Moreso, Stealth Rock should be set when Primal Groudon is able to force in a switch-in, as it can otherwise be worn down rather quickly if it chooses to set them up versus opposing threats such as Terrakion and Kartana. Overheat is best used in luring in key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free. Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite, (AC) Zapdos, (AC) and Arceus-Fairy, severely hampering their sustainability as they come in an attempt to check Primal Groudon. Be mindful for common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can deflect the use of Stealth Rock and Toxic against them which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Manectite Mew, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon as they help deal with the threats that can break through it such as like (avoiding repetitiveness) Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Due to Primal Groudon's ability to check most Magearna variants, teammates that are otherwise weak to Magearna such as Darkrai, Tapu Lele, and Arceus-Fairy may capitalize on this. Cleric support from teammates like Blissey and Magearna is also recommended due to Primal Groudon's tendency in being statused by the threats it usually comes in against such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod. Blissey is especially useful for passing off Wishes to Primal Groudon, which can help increase its sustainability immensely.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides immense support by chipping down opposing threats. (again, I think you should reword this for the same reason above) Swords Dance is an alternative option if another teammate is delegated the slot as the already has Stealth Rock setter, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdown after one setup boost. It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T, due to it acting as a hybrid of its previous sets. Hidden Power Ice is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in common Dragon-type switch-ins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, Zygarde-C, and Rayquaza, all of which are threats that can otherwise stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves. Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switch-ins in which include (in was okay but it sounded clunky when used after switch-ins) Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats for the rest of the match.

Set Details

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon would have a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei and Kartana, while still letting Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum. A Naive nature may also be used to maximize Primal Groudon's Speed, letting it outpace threats such as Adamant Altarianite Zygarde and Manectite Magearna. It A Naive nature (clarity) also allows it to outspeed threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Lunala with Sticky Webs support.

Usage Tips
========

If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can abuse the switch-ins it forces as an opportunity to setup and potentially break through its aforementioned checks. Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally as a result due to the drop in Special Attack after every use means it usually otherwise it will be forced to switch out because of the Special Attack drops. If running Eruption, Primal Groudon should prioritize conserving its health to maximize the power of its Fire-type STAB move. Toxic is a great way in punishing to punish oncoming defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options, however be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Team Options
========

Additional wallbreakers such as Cameruptite Magearna and Tapu Lele can help provide additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks like Lucarionite Zygarde, Giratina, and Latiasite Toxapex, while the aforementioned threats also appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to set up (space between set and up) Stealth Rock in return. Checks to opposing Ground-types, (AC) which include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh, (AC) can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight, where good examples include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh. Sticky Web support from setters such as like Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion, Kartana and Tapu Lele. (remove period)Although, (AC) however it should be noted that Primal Groudon should be running a Naughty nature if used in conjunction with Sticky Webs.(I think it's okay to combine both sentences since they relate back to the same thing) Partners that can set up (space between set and up) Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOes versus against targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include the likes of Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Alternatively, team members that can remove entry hazards such as Arceus-Ground, Zapdos, and Mew aid Primal Groudon by removing entry hazards which can wear down Primal Groudon it over time. Partners that can combat offensive Sticky Web teams may also provide utility considering Primal Groudon's weakness to the aforementioned archetype. Good examples include Altarianite Zygarde, Pinsirite Kartana, and Yveltal. Cleric and Wish support off of from partners like Blissey, Magearna, Shaymin-S, and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its sustainability immensely as a result. (although you imply it, maybe mention how it help Eruption to be consistent with big damage too)

Primal Groudon should only proceed to set up (space between set and up) once its checks such as Venusaurite Hippowdon, Blissey, Ho-Oh, Lunala, Gliscor, and Arceus-Ground have been properly weakened beforehand, as it can otherwise lose the offensive momentum it needs if the aforementioned threats are kept relatively healthy beforehand. Its STAB moves should be spammed the majority of the time due to how much damage it can do against most neutral targets, where coverage options such as Hidden Power Ice and Stone Edge should be used to lure in threats such as Zygarde and Ho-Oh, (AC) respectively. Therefore, it should only try to sweep once the aforementioned threats have been properly accounted for.

Team Options

Due to this set's lack of Stealth Rock, partners that can set up (space between set and up) the entry hazard are extremely beneficial as they can weaken wear down Primal Groudon's checks in Ho-Oh, Golisopod, and Zapdos. Entry hazard removers such as like (to avoid repetitiveness) Zapdos and Arceus-Ground can provide utility in eliminating the factor of entry hazard chip that may severely weaken Primal Groudon throughout the match and leave it prone to revenge killing. They also relieve it from the potential Speed drop of Sticky Web, which can otherwise hamper its sweeping capabilities as well. (I think as well can work if you mention entry hazard chip can cripple its sweeping capabilities in the last sentence, but that's just my opinion)

However, Primal Groudon rarely finds the opportunity to setup both boosting moves in a game as well due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats, deterring the overall effectiveness of the set. Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey, however the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively. Sets utilizing the combination of RestTalk + Lava Plume may be used on more defensive teams, providing them a strong check to threats such as like Magearna. Toxic can be incorporated on Swords Dance sets to cripple Primal Groudon's checks in Arceus-Dragon and Giratina-O. However, this if is often not needed due to because Primal Groudon can already breaking through most walls when boosted. Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunder, Hidden Power Ice, and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory. Golisopod, and Lucarionite Zygarde, however it lets causes Primal Groudon to be more easily checked by specially defensive walls such as like Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-type resists like Venusaurite Zapdos.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Giratina, Arceus-Dragon, and Mega Salamence can all both offensively and defensively check Primal Groudon, (AC) depending on the set they choose to run, (RC). (add period) as they They all resist Primal Groudon's Fire-type STAB moves and usually can take on its other coverage options unless it chooses to opt for Hidden Power Ice (remove brackets). (you use Hidden Power [Ice] and Hidden Power Ice in this write-up, but I'm not sure which one is correct or if it even matters, so I won't tamper with it but I recommend you make it one or the other depending one which one is the proper way to term it) (EDIT: just asked on the discord, there should be no brackets)

However, they must be wary of certain offensive options such as Stone Edge, Smack Down, and Hidden Power Ice (remove brackets). (see comments above)

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Vensaurite Hippowdon, and support Arcceus Arceus formes can all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves. Altashough However (I didn't know if altashough was a typo or an actual word, but I didn't get anything useful from Google, so even if it was a word it would be confusing, if not, then shrug), Primal Groudon can easily muscle through the aforementioned threats if it manages to setup a Swords Dance boost or can cripple them itself through Toxic get Toxic off to cripple them.

**Blue Orb Users**: Pokemon that often carry Blue Orb such as Golisopod, Primal Kyogre, and Skarmory can all switch into Primal Groudon's Fire-type moves thanks to the heavy rain and proceed to threaten it out with either their Water-type STAB moves or status moves such as like Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]

Primal Groudon serves as one of the most potent threats in the metagame thanks to the sheer amount of roles it can take on at once compression it can form due to its great offensive and supportive movepool, movepools, amazing typing under the harsh sun, and exceptional stats(. add period) which lets it perform multiple roles. Having access to moves such as Stealth Rock and Swords Dance alongside powerful offensive STAB options in Precipice Blades and Overheat enable Primal Groudon to disrupt the majority of threats in the metagame, permitting it to fit n in numerous teams that value the immense offensive support it can provide. Due to its well balanced well-balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter how it chooses to run its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand. Its typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xeneas, and Victini. Its ability, Desolate Land, also provides it an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory. This same typing however typing, however, leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it prone to Blue Orb users. A lack of reliable recovery also severely hinders Primal Groudon's defensive sets as it tends to get chipped worn down quite easily when considering entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and its teammates immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of its checks that may attempt to wall it such as Hippowdon and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can setup and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably as a result. Rock-type coverage compliments Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi. Smack Down is useful in grounding Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Skarmory and Latiasite Toxapex, respectively, so that Primal Groudon can hit them with its Ground-type STAB move the following turn. Stone Edge is a much more powerful option that can deal more immediate damage against threats where the effects of Smack Down would not matter as much(, add comma) such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod.

EVs are maxed out in Attack This set calls for maximized investment in Attack EVs with an Adamant nature to fully capitalize on Primal Groudon's amazing offensive presence, allowing it to 2HKO 2HKOing the likes of Lucarionite Zygarde and Altarianite Landorus-T with Precipice Blades. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoiding being KOed by Altarianite Landorus-T's Earthquake and Arceus-Ground's Judgement. More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon, however the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats it's supposed to as a result. Alternatively, Primal Groudon can run more Special Defense by forfeiting investment in Attack to better check threats such as Magearna and Primal Kyogre. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker with Desolate Land to activate harsh sunlight, wallbreaker. Desolate Land calls out the harsh sunlight, blessing Primal Groudon with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which permits it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.

Usage Tips

Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage they provide it provides can be extremely beneficial in breaking through the opposing team much more consistently. Primal Groudon can often find the opportunity to set them up due to the numerous switch ins switches it can force when facing threats that it can scare out such as Magearna and Raikou. However, one must be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users that can deflect reflect Stealth Rock such as Blissey, Mew, and Buzzwole. In this case, Primal Groudon should primarily attempt to properly break through the aforementioned threats by using its attacking moves or potentially setting up a Swords Dance so that it can threaten out common Sablenite users subsequently on the switch(. add period) in. Smack Down can be properly used to lure in threats that can switch into Primal Groudon's Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Latiasite Toxapex, and Skarmory, as it can scare out the aforementioned threats after grounding them, potentially giving it an opportunity to setup entry hazards or boost its Attack via Swords Dance.

Team Options

Primal Groudon appreciates partners that can check opposing Ground-types such as Zapdos, Skarmory, and Golisopod, as the aforementioned Pokemon cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness. Special Attackers (not capitalized) such as Magearna, Lunala, Darkrai, and Tapu Lele appreciate Primal Groudon's ability to break through walls like Blissey, Sablenite Magerana, and Gyaradosite Toxapex, while the aforementioned wallbreakers can dent walls that Primal Groudon may struggle with such as Hippowdon, Buzzwole, and Giratina. Other physical wallbreakers can help apply additional offensive pressure to Primal Groudon's checks, overwhelming the opposing team(. add period) as they struggle to properly handle the strain that Primal Groudon's team can apply. Good examples include Terrakion, Ho-Oh, Entei, and Lucarionite Zygarde. While Primal Groudon can switch into certain neutral Special Attacks special attacks due to the set's little small investment in special bulk, it can still be easily chipped worn down if repeatedly brought in against threats such as Magearna and Raikou. Therefore, teammates that can ease the burden off of Primal Groudon such as Entei and Aggronite Mew may be beneficial as well. Pokemon that can abuse Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder such as Primal Kyogre and Golisopod may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep late-game as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover the aforementioned threats's their own checks as a result. Good examples of this include Celebi, Giratina-O, and Altarianite Zygarde. Entry hazard removal or deflection reflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey(, add comma) and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing its sustainability longevity immensely.

The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to its team as it usually forces in passive out offensive threats due to the fear of Overheat. Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, making it check physical threats slightly better. Toxic is a great utility move which can cripple opposing walls such as Gliscor, Mew, and most support Arceus formes, preventing them from having reliable switch-ins switching in to Primal Groudon repeatedly throughout the match. Roar can be run Primal Groudon can run Roar over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to its other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. The rest of its EVs are invested in both HP and Special Defense to turn Primal Groudon into a respectable specially defensive tank that can check certain attackers such as Magearna, Azelf, Raikou, and Manaphy more consistently, allowing it to also avoid the 2HKO from their coverage moves. Primal Groudon can still choose to run a maximum Special Defensive investment in Special Defense with a Sassy nature to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcorona, however the lack in physically defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers like Kartana and Zeraoara have a slightly easier time breaking through it. Desolate Land calls out the sets harsh sunlight, granting Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves, permitting it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy. Red Orb is required to Primal Revert, granting Groudon an additional Fire-typing which lets it check Fairy- and opposing Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against the majority of most specially(- add hyphen)attacking threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcorona, where it can proceed to set up Stealth Rock reliably after forcing out the aforementioned threats. However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible so it can pivot due to it usually being pivoted in against threats such as Entei and Magearna without being worn down. which can wear it down significantly over time if it's brought in too liberally. Therefore, sacking a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely as a result. Moreso, Stealth Rock should be set when Primal Groudon is able to force a switch-in, Primal Groudon should set Stealth Rock whenever it is able to force a switch, as it can otherwise be worn down rather quickly if it chooses to set them up versus opposing threats such as Terrakion and Kartana. Overheat is best used in luring in to hit key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free. Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite(, remove comma) Zapdos(, remove comma) and Arceus-Fairy, severely hampering their sustainability longevity as they come in in an attempt to check Primal Groudon. Be mindful for common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can deflect the use of reflect Stealth Rock and Toxic against them which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Manectite Mew, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon as they help deal with the threats that can break through it like Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Due to Primal Groudon's ability to check most Magearna variants, teammates that are otherwise weak to Magearna such as Darkrai, Tapu Lele, and Arceus-Fairy may capitalize on this. Cleric support from teammates like Blissey and Magearna is also recommended due to Primal Groudon's tendency in being to be statused by the threats it usually comes in against such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod. Blissey is especially useful for passing Wish to Primal Groudon, which can help increase its sustainability longevity immensely.

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance is an alternative option if another teammate already has Stealth Rock, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdown after one setup boost. It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T, due to it acting as a hybrid of its previous sets. Eruption is a slightly more powerful option that can be used instead as it does not lower Primal Groudon's offensive capabilities after every use, however it relies on it staying relatively healthy(. add period) as a result. Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switch-ins which include Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats for the rest of the match.

Set Details
========

A Naive nature also allows it to outspeed threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Lunala with Sticky Webs support. However, the extra boost in power provided by a Naughty nature is usually more useful in most cases. Desolate Land provides Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves alongside powering up and a boost to its Fire-type STAB moves, letting it deal colossal damage to most neutral targets. Red Orb is required to allow Groudon to Primal Revert, turning it into a devastating wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========
If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can abuse the switch-ins switches it forces as an opportunity to setup set up and potentially break through its aforementioned checks. Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally otherwise it will be forced to switch out because of the Special Attack drops. If running Eruption, Primal Groudon should prioritize conserving its health to maximize the power of its Fire-type STAB move. Toxic is a great way to punish oncoming incoming defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options, however be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types, which include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh, can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight. Sticky Web support from setters like Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion, Kartana and Tapu Lele, however it should be noted that Primal Groudon should be running a Naughty nature if used in conjunction with Sticky Webs. Sticky Web. Partners that can set up 1Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOes against targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include the likes of Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Alternatively, team members that can remove entry hazards such as Arceus-Ground, Zapdos, and Mew aid Primal Groudon by removing entry hazards which can wear it down it over time. Partners that can combat offensive Sticky Web teams may also provide utility considering Primal Groudon's weakness to the aforementioned archetype. Good examples include Altarianite Zygarde, Pinsirite Kartana, and Yveltal. Cleric and Wish support from partners like Blissey, Magearna, Shaymin-S, and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its sustainability longevity immensely as a result and increasing the power of its STAB move as well.

Offensive threats such as Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Darkrai appreciate Primal Groudon's ability in breaking through most defensive cores, where the aforementioned threats can often clean up late game once Primal Groudon has broken down walls such as Mew and Skarmory. However, Primal Groudon rarely finds the opportunity to setup both boosting moves in a game due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats(, comma) deterring the overall effectiveness of the set. Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially(- hyphen)offensive Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey, however the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively. However, this is often not needed because Primal Groudon can already break through most walls when boosted. Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunder, Hidden Power Ice, and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory(, add comma)(. remove period) Golisopod, and Lucarionite Zygarde, however it causes Primal Groudon to be more easily checked by specially defensive walls like Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-type resists like Venusaurite Zapdos.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Vensaurite Hippowdon, and support Arceus formes can all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves. However, Primal Groudon can easily muscle through the aforementioned threats if it manages to setup a Swords Dance boost or get Toxic off to cripple them.

However, they cannot be relied on entirely as Primal Groudon can easily revert the weather to the harsh sunlight when it comes in.

**Toxic**: Toxic can severely hinder Primal Groudon if it lacks cleric support from its teammates due to its lack of reliable recovery, where and common users such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod can often lure in Primal Groudon and cripple it. deter it as a result.

[OVERVIEW]

Primal Groudon serves as one of the most potent threats in the metagame thanks to the sheer amount number of roles it can take on at once due to its great offensive and supportive movepools, amazing typing under the harsh sun, and exceptional stats. Having Access to moves such as Stealth Rock and Swords Dance alongside powerful offensive STAB options in Precipice Blades and Overheat enable enables Primal Groudon to disrupt the majority of threats in the metagame, permitting it to fit in numerous teams that value the immense offensive support it can provide. Due to its well-balanced stat spread, it can perform well both offensively and defensively no matter its EV investment, meaning it can be quite the unpredictable threat unless properly scouted for beforehand. Its typing allows it to check Fairy-, Electric-, Steel-, and Fire-types, meaning it can provide resistance against prominent threats such as Entei, Raikou, Magearna, Xeneas, aand Xerneas, and Victini. Its ability, Desolate Land, also provides it with an immunity to Water-type moves, making it even more difficult to properly break through as a result under the harsh sunlight, (AC) as it checks common Blue Orb users such as Primal Kyogre, Golisopod, and Skarmory. This same typing, however, leaves it weak to a common offensive type in Ground, meaning certain threats such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and opposing Primal Groudon can properly break through it. It also relies on the harsh sunlight to check certain threats such as Golisopod and Primal Kyogre, leaving it prone vulnerable to Blue Orb users. A lack of reliable recovery also severely hinders Primal Groudon's defensive sets, (AC) as it tends to get worn down quite easily when considering its susceptibility to entry hazard chip damage and its tendency to be pivoted into multiple attacks.

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides both Primal Groudon and its teammates with immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance enables Primal Groudon to break through some of its checks that may attempt to wall it such as Hippowdon and Sablenite Blissey, meaning it can setup set up and keep entry hazards on the opposing side more reliably as a result. Precipice Blades acts as Primal Groudon's primary STAB move, dealing a significant amount of damage against most targets with the slight drawback of it being inaccurate. Earthquake can be used as a more reliable option; (SC) however, (AC) the decrease in power can be noticeable at times especially when facing threats such as Buzzwole, Arceus-Ground, and Mew. Rock-type coverage compliments complements Primal Groudon's STAB Ground-type moves perfectly, hitting the Flying-and Grass-types that would attempt to switch into Precipice Blades such as Mega Salamence and Celebi.

Set Details

This set calls for maximized investment in Attack EVs with an Adamant nature to fully capitalize on Primal Groudon's amazing offensive presence, allowing it to 2HKO the likes of Lucarionite Zygarde and Altarianite Landorus-T with Precipice Blades. The given Special Defense and HP investment ensures that Primal Groudon can survive a +2 Focus Blast from Xerneas as well as avoid being KOed by Altarianite Landorus-T's Earthquake and Arceus-Ground's Judgement Judgment. More Speed investment can be given to enable Primal Groudon to outpace certain threats such as Necrozma-DM, Gliscor, and opposing Primal Groudon; (SC) however, (AC) the forfeiting of defensive investment means that it can struggle to properly check the threats it's supposed to as a result. Alternatively, Primal Groudon can run more Special Defense by forfeiting investment in Attack to better check threats such as Magearna and Primal Kyogre. Red Orb is required to for Primal Revert Reversion, turning Groudon into a devastating wallbreaker with Desolate Land to activate harsh sunlight (RC) and blessing Primal Groudon it with a crucial immunity to Water-type moves which that permits it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be set up as soon as possible, as the extra chip damage it provides can be extremely beneficial in breaking through the opposing team much more consistently. Primal Groudon can often find the opportunity to set them it up due to the numerous switches it can force when facing threats that it can scare out such as Magearna and Raikou.

========

Therefore, teammates that can ease the its burden off of Primal Groudon such as Entei and Aggronite Mew may be beneficial as well. Pokemon that can abuse use Primal Groudon's checks as setup fodder may also be handy in potentially securing a sweep late-game as well, while Primal Groudon is able to cover their own checks as a result. Good examples of this include Celebi, Giratina-O, and Altarianite Zygarde. Entry hazard removal or reflection from partners such as Arceus-Fairy, Sablenite Blissey(, add comma) Blissey, and Mew can aid Primal Groudon in coming in more frequently, (AC) as it can avoid entry hazard chip damage. Blissey is particularly useful, (AC) as it can provide both Wish and Heal Bell support for Primal Groudon as well, increasing its longevity immensely.

The burst damage also aids Primal Groudon in providing immediate offensive momentum to its team, (AC) as it usually forces out offensive threats due to the fear of Overheat. Lava Plume is a more reliable yet considerably weaker option that provides Primal Groudon the chance to burn its targets, making letting it check physical threats slightly better. Toxic is a great utility move which that can cripple opposing walls such as Gliscor, Mew, and most support Arceus formes, preventing them from switching in to into Primal Groudon repeatedly throughout the match. Primal Groudon can run Roar over either Overheat or Toxic to phaze out certain setup boosting threats such as Manaphy, Xerneas, and Altarianite Zygarde, preventing the aforementioned threats from sweeping Primal Groudon's its team. However, it generally offers much less utility compared to its other supportive options, making it less desirable as a result.

Set Details

160 EVs are invested in Defense with a Relaxed nature to ensure that Primal Groudon avoids the 2HKO from threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Necrozma-DM. The rest of its EVs are invested in both HP and Special Defense to turn Primal Groudon into a respectable specially defensive tank that can check certain attackers such as Magearna, Azelf, Raikou, and Manaphy more consistently, allowing it to avoid the 2HKO from their coverage moves. Primal Groudon can still choose to run maximum investment in Special Defense with a Sassy nature to better check threats such as Manaphy, Magearna, and Volcorona Volcarona, however but the lack in physically defensive investment means that certain physical wallbreakers like Kartana and Zeraoara Zeraora have a slightly easier time breaking through it. Desolate Land sets harsh sunlight, granting Primal Groudon a crucial immunity to Water-type moves, permitting it to come into threats it otherwise would be unable to such as Golisopod and Manaphy. Red Orb is required to undergo Primal Revert Reversion, granting Groudon an additional Fire typing (RH) which that lets it check Fairy- and Fire-types.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon is best used as a defensive pivot that is able to come in against most specially attacking (RH) threats such as Raikou, Azelf, Magearna, and Volcorona, where it can Volcarona, force them out, and proceed to set up Stealth Rock reliably after forcing out the aforementioned threats. However, due to Primal Groudon's lack of reliable recovery, it is advised to preserve its HP as much as possible so it can pivot in against threats such as Entei and Magearna without being worn down. Therefore, sacking sacrificing a teammate may be necessary at times to bring in Primal Groudon safely as a result. Moreso, Moreover, Primal Groudon should set Stealth Rock whenever it is able to force a switch, as it can otherwise be worn down rather quickly if it chooses to set them it up versus threats such as Terrakion and Kartana. Overheat is best used to hit key targets that would like to switch into Precipice Blades such as Zapdos, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T. However, one should not mindlessly spam the move, (AC) as the drop in Special Attack often forces Primal Groudon out alongside the fear of potentially letting in Blue Orb users in for free. Toxic should be used to cripple opposing defensive walls such as Venusaurite Zapdos and Arceus-Fairy, severely hampering their longevity as they come in in an attempt to check Primal Groudon. Be mindful for of common Magic Bounce users such as Mew, Mandibuzz, and Blissey, as they can reflect Stealth Rock and Toxic, (AC) which can leave Primal Groudon in an unfavorable spot.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types such as Manectite Mew, Skarmory, and Giratina-O can all be useful partners for Primal Groudon, (AC) as they help deal with the threats that can break through it like Lucarionite Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Wallbreakers that can capitalize on Primal Groudon's ability to setup set up Stealth Rock such as Kartana, Tapu Lele, and Zygarde may be considered as well due to the entry hazard chip weakening down their respective checks. Entry hazard removal can be very useful for Primal Groudon, (AC) as it is often pivoted in against many attacks, where entry hazard and the chip damage can wear it down significantly. Good partners for this role include Mew, support Arceus formes, and Zapdos. Due to Primal Groudon's ability to check most Magearna variants, teammates that are otherwise weak to Magearna such as Darkrai, Tapu Lele, and Arceus-Fairy may capitalize on this pair well with it.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is a great utility move that provides immense support by chipping down opposing threats. Swords Dance is an alternative option (doesn't reflect slashing) if another teammate already has Stealth Rock, enabling Primal Groudon to break through its checks such as Sablenite Mew and Hippowdown Hippowdon after one setup boost. It also helps Primal Groudon in covering threats that would otherwise check a purely mixed set such as Landorus-T (RC) due to it acting as a hybrid of its previous sets. Precipice Blades acts as a primary Ground-type STAB move which that hits most neutral targets incredibly hard even when unboosted. Overheat is Primal Groudon's secondary STAB option which that decimates the majority of its physical checks in the metagame such as Arceus-Ground, Buzzwole, and Skarmory under the harsh sunlight, making it Primal Groudon incredibly difficult to properly account for defensively. Eruption is a slightly more powerful option that can be used instead, (AC) as it does not lower Primal Groudon's offensive capabilities after every use; (SC) however, (AC) it relies on it staying relatively healthy. Stone Edge is a great coverage option which that lets Primal Groudon target Flying-types that would like to come in against its Ground-type STAB moves such as Zapdos, Ho-Oh, and Pinsirite Entei. Smack Down may be used instead with the added benefactor benefit of grounding the aforementioned Flying-types so that it Primal Groudon can target them with its Ground-type moves the following turn. However, this incurs a much less powerful it inflicts much less damage option overall. Hidden Power Ice is another useful coverage option that can be run in the last slot to lure in and take out common Dragon-type switch-ins such as Pinsirite Zygarde, Mega Salamence, Zygarde-C, and Rayquaza, all of which are threats that can otherwise stomach Primal Groudon's STAB moves. Toxic is a useful utility option that may be used to cripple some of Primal Groudon's most common switch-ins, (AC) which include Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Giratina-O, deterring the aforementioned threats them for the rest of the match.

Set Details
========

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred, (AC) as the reduced Defense otherwise means Primal Groudon from a Lonely nature would have give Primal Groudon a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei and Kartana, while still letting and it still lets Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum both physically and specially. Red Orb is required to allow Groudon to undergo Primal Revert Reversion, turning it into a devastating wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be used when Primal Groudon can ensure a forced switch in from an force and incoming check to switch in, as it can otherwise leave itself in a disadvantageous position if it decides to use the utility option versus common Magic Bounce users such as Blissey and Mew alongside other defensive threats that can threaten to wear it down immensely like Gliscor and opposing Primal Groudon. If Primal Groudon is carrying Swords Dance, it can abuse exploit the switches it forces as an opportunity to set up and potentially break through its aforementioned checks. Primal Groudon should utilize its Fire-type STAB move when luring in threats that would otherwise appreciate coming in against Precipice Blades such as Hippowdown Hippowdon, Aggronite Buzzwole, and Landorus-T. Primal Groudon should not utilize Overheat too liberally, (AC) as otherwise it will be forced to switch out because of the Special Attack drops. If running Eruption, Primal Groudon should prioritize conserving its health to maximize the power of its Fire-type STAB move. Toxic is a great way to punish incoming defensive threats that can take on any of Primal Groudon's attacking options; (SC) however, (AC) be mindful of potential Magic Bounce users again, (AC) as Primal Groudon does not appreciate having the status condition afflicted upon itself.

Team Options
========

Checks to opposing Ground-types, which include Gliscor, Golisopod, and Ho-Oh, can be extremely useful for Primal Groudon, (AC) as they can help cover its sole weakness when factoring in the effects of the harsh sunlight. Sticky Web support from setters like Shuckle may also be useful in order to enable Primal Groudon to outpace threats such as Terrakion, Kartana, (AC) and Tapu Lele; (SC) however, (AC) it should be noted that Primal Groudon should be running a Naughty nature if used in conjunction with Sticky Web. Partners that can set up Stealth Rock may be necessary if Primal Groudon chooses to forego the option itself, as the extra entry hazard chip damage can be crucial at times to secure certain 2HKOes 2HKOs against targets such as Mew and Zygarde. Good setters include the likes of Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Skarmory. Alternatively, team members that can remove entry hazards such as Arceus-Ground, Zapdos, and Mew aid Primal Groudon by removing entry hazards which that can wear it down over time. Partners that can combat offensive Sticky Web teams may also provide utility considering Primal Groudon's weakness to the aforementioned archetype. Good examples include Altarianite Zygarde, Pinsirite Kartana, and Yveltal. Cleric and Wish support from partners like Blissey, Magearna, Shaymin-S, and Jirachi can be used to great effect especially if Primal Groudon is running Eruption due to its lack of reliable recovery, prolonging its longevity immensely as a result and increasing the power of its STAB move as well.

Hidden Power Ice is a great coverage option that covers the Dragon and Flying-types that can otherwise wall Primal Groudon's STAB moves such as Zygarde, Mega Salamence,(space)and Giratina-O. Stone Edge may be used instead to hit specific targets such as Ho-Oh and Golisopod for more considerable damage; (SC) however, (AC) Hidden Power Ice generally provides more coverage.

Set Details

EVs are fully invested in Primal Groudon's Special Attack and Speed in order to maximize its offensive capabilities. A Naughty nature is preferred, (AC) as the reduced Defense otherwise from a Lonely nature means Primal Groudon would have give Primal Groudon a slightly harder time checking threats such as Entei, while still letting and it still lets Primal Groudon hit as hard as possible from both sides of the offensive spectrum both physically and specially. The Speed investment allows Primal Groudon to outspeed Necrozma-DM without any setup boosts and outspeed key threats such as Lucarionite Terrakion and Ultra Necrozma with Sticky Web support. Red Orb is equipped to allow Groudon to undergo Primal Revert Reversion, turning it into one of the best mixed wallbreakers in the tier.

Usage Tips
========

Primal Groudon should only proceed to set up once checks such as Venusaurite Hippowdon, Blissey, Ho-Oh, Lunala, Gliscor, and Arceus-Ground have been properly weakened beforehand, as it can otherwise lose the offensive momentum it needs if the aforementioned threats are kept relatively healthy beforehand. Its STAB moves should be spammed the majority of the time due to how much damage it they can do against most neutral targets, where coverage options such as Hidden Power Ice and Stone Edge should be used to hit threats such as Zygarde and Ho-Oh, respectively. Therefore, it should only try to sweep once the aforementioned threats (which aforementioned threats? if the ones in the first sentence then just remove this one outright tbh, repeated content) have been properly accounted for.

Team Options
========

Due to this set's lack of Stealth Rock, partners that can set up the entry hazard are extremely beneficial, (AC) as they can wear down Primal Groudon's checks in Ho-Oh, Golisopod, and Zapdos. Good examples setters include Landorus-T, Arceus-Fairy, and Terrakion. Offensive threats such as Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Darkrai appreciate Primal Groudon's ability in breaking to break through most defensive cores, where the aforementioned threats can often clean up late-game (AH) once Primal Groudon has broken down walls such as Mew and Skarmory. Partners that can cover Primal Groudon's sole weakness to Ground-type threats when factoring in the effects of Desolate Land such as Golisopod, Landorus-T, and Pinsirite Cobalion may be useful, (AC) as they provide Primal Groudon a fail-safe option in covering Pokemon such as Arceus-Ground and opposing Primal Groudon. Entry hazard removers like Zapdos and Arceus-Ground can provide utility in eliminating the entry hazard chip damage that may severely weaken Primal Groudon throughout the match and leave it prone to being revenge killing killed. They also relieve it from the potential Speed drop of Sticky Web, which can otherwise hamper its sweeping capabilities.

Other Options

The combination of Rest + Swords Dance turns Primal Groudon into a potent stallbreaker that can setup set up against threats such as Blissey and Arceus-Fairy without the fear of being worn down by Toxic. Although, However, the use of this set often requires cleric support as a result. Primal Groudon may choose to opt for a devastating setup sweeping set that consists of the use of features both Rock Polish and Swords Dance, turning it into an incredibly difficult threat to account for both offensively and defensively. However, Primal Groudon rarely finds the opportunity to setup set up both boosting moves in a game due to the pressure from opposing offensive threats deterring the overall effectiveness of the set. Fire Punch can be run on offensive sets opposed to specially offensive (RH) Fire-type moves in order for Primal Groudon to easily break through walls such as Blissey; (SC) however, (AC) the mixed offensive potential of the former options makes Primal Groudon more difficult to properly check defensively. However, this is often not needed, (AC) because Primal Groudon can already break through most walls when boosted. Specially offensive coverage moves such as Thunder, Hidden Power Ice, and Earth Power may all be placed on mixed sets to lure in specific threats such as Blue Orb Skarmory, Golisopod, and Lucarionite Zygarde; (SC) however, (AC) it causes Primal Groudon to be more easily checked by specially defensive walls like Blissey alongside sturdy Fire-type resists Fire-resistant Pokemon like Venusaurite Zapdos.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Arceus-Ground, Landorus-T, and Gliscor can all threaten to heavily dent or outright KO Primal Groudon through their STAB attacks. However, they all must be careful in switching in against Primal Groudon's STAB moves, (AC) as they can be threatened to be risk being KOed themselves, especially from by offensive Primal Groudon sets.

**Mixed Defensive Walls**: Defensive threats such as Sablenite Blissey, Vensaurite Venusaurite Hippowdon, and support Arceus formes can all take on Primal Groudon's attacking options and threaten to either cripple it with their status options or heavily dent it through their own STAB moves. However, Primal Groudon can easily muscle through the aforementioned threats if it manages to setup set up a Swords Dance boost or get Toxic off to cripple them.

However, they cannot be relied on entirely, (AC) as Primal Groudon can easily revert the weather to the harsh sunlight when it comes in.

**Toxic**: Toxic can severely hinder Primal Groudon if it lacks cleric support from its teammates due to its lack of reliable recovery, and common users such as Arceus-Fairy and Golisopod can often lure in Primal Groudon and cripple it.
