Magic: The Gathering

it always looked to be a decent 1-of finisher in ub control, so i'm not really surprised by that. it was a very good read though.

modern has good ramp available; you can suspend for ramp t1 (don't remember the card name), then sakura-tribe elder or rampant growth t2 (3 land) for a t3 sad robot (6 land), giving you a reasonable chance to get to 8 on t4 but you're better off just slamming down titans from then on. there's also the issue of rdw and zoo smacking you in the face basically every turn and killing you before you do anything other than ramp, and twin can win t4 as well. then you have the problem of not really being able to do anything to these decks if you're heavily in green.

Would like to introduce the idea of Horde Magic. this is mainly for edh players, but I think it is very interesting, and because it is so flavourful, definitely appeals to me.
I won't be around for a while, but I think this would be interesting to give a try. It would definitely make a change, as often we're at each others throats on the battlefield!

so i'm thinking of setting up a draft tournament of sorts, spread across a few weeks (not sure how many would be good as it'd probably be interest dependent) with a points table and all that jazz. the only problem i had was whether it would be better to organise it via a draft sim like ccgdecks or something, or just by doing it via pm. i can see a few pros and cons for either method, which is why i'm torn. via pm means we don't all need to be on at a set time, which makes it easier for participants and myself as host (or whoever hosts, as i'd like to participate too >_>) due to work / school / timezones in general. but if it's done on a draft sim it means the drafting is all done far quicker (although we have had a bit of difficulty when drafting because #mtg wants to, which makes me less inclined to do it this way). basically i'm leaning towards handling it via pm because it seems to just be easier and requires less commitment.

thoughts?

With inspiration from that article, last Friday, I set out to make a similar deck, but crafted it more towards what my own collection can provide and my playstyle. Took 3rd/4th at an FNM with it, for what it is worth, and it seemed to run quite fine.

Never mind the color and links. I just recopied it from another place I have posted it (a thread which prompted zero responses...).

You guys wanna talk tourney or what? I'm still willing to set it up for you all

Currently I'm dicking around with a UG Aggro grave-based deck. It's all kinds of hilarious. I've had 12/12 tramplers out on turn 4 with any luck, for instance, all of which get bigger. And I noticed that this deck could pretty much go straight scarecrow tribal. CAW CAW MOTHERFUCKERS.

If you want to improve your deck's consistency, you should increase the number of key cards and remove some of the extra fluff you have in there. I would recommend adding another Boneyard Wurm, 2 more Merfolk Looters, a few more Armored Skaabs, and increasing the number of mana creatures. Putting spells in your deck that don't do anything when you mill them is risky, so I would rather have 4 Dream Twist, a few Spider Spawning, and things like that. Bonehoard is probably strong enough to put it in regardless, though. I don't like the creature enchantments, the random 1 of Garruk, the Postmortem Lunges, and some of the creatures (Slime, skinshifter, emissary, that high of a number of mindshriekers). 4 Alchemys is probably too many as well, considering you are an aggressive deck.

A quick question about Inkwell Leviathan... can he be revived by Reanimate or any other card with "target" in its text? I'm thinking he can, because the guy who made Graveborn seems to know what he's talking about, but he has shroud....

EDIT: If you've got an extra $.99, I advise checking out the mtg master app for the itouch, iphone.

@fatsnorlax, yes, Inkwell Leviathan can be targeted while in the graveyard, because shroud only works while it's a permanent, and it's only a permanent while it's on the battlefield. Once it's in the graveyard, it's a card, not a permanent, and therefore can be targeted.

So I played like my first game of this like ever. A friend showed it to me.

Holy shit this card game.

It feels like everything you use is pretty much godlike and capable of wrecking shit so bad. It blows my mindddddd

Do you kids want me to set up another tourney?

Been about a month since I last asked

Get tourney got approved, what format do you guys want? Should I go with what everyone was talking about above or new vote?
