[OVERVIEW]

* Magnet Pull trapping Steel-types is the prime reason to use Magnezone. Being able to eliminate bulky Steel-types such as Skarmory, Celesteela, and Ferrothorn can open a lot of opportunities for Magnezone's teammates to sweep.
* Magnezone can be a fantastic lure with either Chople Berry and Thunder Wave or Mirror Coat, or using Air Balloon and Magnet Rise.
* Steel / Electric provides 11 resistances and an immunity; this is ideal for helping to handle Pokemon that Magnezone doesn't trap sometimes, such as Tapu Koko.
* Mediocre Speed and exploitable typing create problems for Magnezone when it is not trapping Steel-types. Even with Choice Scarf, Magnezone's Speed is rather underwhelming.

Moves
========

* Volt Switch is mainly used for momentum and double switches. Its low risk allows Magnezone to switch out while providing damage, and this helps Magnezone in situations where it can be taken advantage of.
* Hidden Power Fire is best used for KOing Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Genesect. It also allows Magnezone to revenge kill other Magnezone locked into Flash Cannon or Thunderbolt.
* Flash Cannon gives Magnezone another STAB attack to utilize while doing hefty damage to Pokemon that resist Electric-type moves, such as Landorus-T, Alolan Marowak, Zygarde, and Hippowdon.
* Thunderbolt is the best option for a STAB Electric move otherwise. Choice Specs Thunderbolt is powerful enough to 2HKO Sassy Celesteela.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature gets the most out of Magnezone's attacks.
* Choice Specs is utilized to maximize Magnezone's damage output at the cost of freely switching attacks.
* 128 Speed EVs allow Magnezone to outspeed minimum Speed Scizor while leaving the remaining EVs to be invested in HP to provide a little more bulk.
* 176 Speed EVs allow Magnezone to outspeed maximum Speed Adamant Azumarill.
* Maximum Speed prevents Magnezone from being outrun by more Pokemon, though it can cut into Magnezone's bulk a bit. For an added bonus, it will always outspeed Azumarill and get the jump on Scizor that opt to run some Speed EVs.
* A Timid nature can be utilized instead of Modest to outspeed Jolly Azumarill, though be aware that +6 Aqua Jet still has a very high chance to OHKO.

Usage Tips
========

* Choice Specs is utilized with Magnezone if outspeeding Steel-types isn't a concern, but being able to KO them is.
* This set works very well against Pokemon such as Celesteela, which can otherwise be problematic for some teams to handle if it obtains Special Defense boosts through Beast Boost.
* Once Magnezone has nothing left to trap it can be used to create major dents in teams if locked into STAB Thunderbolt or STAB Flash Cannon.
* Choice Specs is very powerful; however, being locked into Volt Switch or Thunderbolt can scream bad news for Magnezone as this leaves it prone to switch-ins such as Dugtrio and other Ground-types. Other Magnezone can attempt to KO Magnezone if it is trapped while locked into Flash Cannon. In situations such as these, where Magnezone can't trap the opposing Pokemon, the opponent has a Dugtrio or Magnezone that might switch in, or you simply can't decide between Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt, it is best to switch out rather than use Volt Switch.
* If the brutal power isn't necessary from Choice Specs after certain threats are gone, Magnezone can be sacked instead. Magnezone's poor Speed and inability to switch moves can make it a liability.
* Volt Switch is a move that can be great for momentum as Magnezone is usually slower than the average Pokemon.

Team Options
========

* As this Magnezone set is primarily a support Pokemon that leaves heavy dents, anything that appreciates the removal of Steel-types works well with Magnezone. Such examples are Mega Pinsir, Mega Aerodactyl, Tapu Bulu, Choice Scarf Nihilego, and Mega Alakazam.
* Stealth Rock and any other entry hazards are highly recommended with Magnezone. Landorus-T makes a great partner for Magnezone thanks to U-turn and access to Stealth Rock; it is well-known for drawing in Skarmory and Celesteela, two Pokemon that Choice Specs Magnezone easily traps.
* U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Tapu Koko can be great partners for this set as they can give Magnezone an easy switch in. As an added bonus, Tapu Koko can provide Electric Terrain to help maximize Magnezone's damage output with STAB Thunderbolt; it also lures in Steel-types such as Ferrothorn for Magnezone to pivot in, trap, and KO.
* Water-types that can help eliminate Ground-types are a big help for Magnezone. Keldeo, Manaphy, Greninja, and Azumarill are Pokemon that, once again, can help with that while appreciating key threats such as Ferrothorn and Celesteela being knocked out.
* Ground-types really appreciate the removal of levitating Steel-types while Magnezone threatens the majority of Water-types in the tier. Mamoswine, Garchomp, and Landorus-T all can take advantage of Magnezone applying pressure to Water-types and Grass-types with its STAB combination.
* Dragon-types such as Dragonite and Latios also appreciate the removal of Steel-types while being able to handle the majority of Ground-types thanks to their immunity to Earthquake.
* The basic premise of Magnezone's team partners is simple—if it appreciates key Steel-type Pokemon such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela out of the picture it is likely a good teammate for Magnezone.

Moves
========

* Thunderbolt is your best attack against most Steel-types such as Mega Metagross, Skarmory, and Celesteela. It also provides consistency versus Water-types and Flying-types.
* Hidden Power Fire gives Magnezone an attack to shut down Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Genesect.
* Thunder Wave cripples many Pokemon by halving their Speed. This is great when Magnezone might miss a clutch KO and a teammate can pick up, such as against Hammer Arm Mega Metagross.
* Mirror Coat is a great move that can redirect special attacks back at the opponent. Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Hoopa-U will need to think twice before using Focus Blast on Magnezone as Magnezone will survive with the Chople Berry and OHKO them back.
* Flash Cannon provides Magnezone a way to cover against Grass-types and can deal good damage to Fairy- and Rock-types. It's also Magnezone's only attack versus Ground-types and Alolan Marowak.
* Magnet Rise is a viable option as it allows Magnezone to trap and kill Excadrill. This should only be used with Air Balloon.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature provide optimal attacking power.
* 128 Speed EVs are for outspeeding minimum Speed Mega Scizor with the added benefit of the remainder of the EVs to help Magnezone remain bulky.
* Maximum Speed with a Modest nature is okay for this set as being able to outspeed as many variants of Mega Scizor as possible (barring those that heavily invest in Speed) is important, and it also gets the jump on some of the slower walls that don't invest in Speed. Furthermore, it also means Magnezone will always be faster than Jolly Azumarill.
* Maximum Speed with a Timid nature gets an honorable mention as Metagross that lack Earthquake always lose to Magnezone one-on-one. Magnezone has roughly a 90% chance to 2HKO with two Thunderbolts while Hammer Arm will make Mega Metagross slower than Magnezone.
* Air Balloon gives Magnezone a Ground-type immunity (which also prevents it from being trapped via Arena Trap). It also allows Magnezone to safely set up Magnet Rise against Excadrill and Mega Metagross lacking Hammer Arm.
* Occa Berry allows Magnezone to trap and KO Genesect that do not carry or are not locked into U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

* This set plays differently from the other Magnezone sets, as Magnezone has the freedom to switch moves in exchange for the Special Attack or Speed boost from the Choice Specs and Choice Scarf sets, respectively.
* As the set doesn't necessarily display its item Magnezone can bluff either of its Choice sets. This is incredibly devastating against opponents that think they can take advantage of Magnezone hypothetically being locked into a single attack.
* Chople Berry allows Magnezone to overcome different threats such as Pheromosa cocky enough to use High Jump Kick, Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam using Focus Blast, Tornadus-T using Superpower or Focus Blast, Mega Metagross using Hammer Arm, Mega Pinsir using Close Combat, and Keldeo locked into Sacred Sword.
* Thunderbolt is usually Magnezone's go-to move with Flash Cannon and Hidden Power Fire being used for specific threats.
* Mirror Coat is Magnezone's best move against Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele if they aren't setting up Calm Mind. This works especially well against Choice-locked Tapu Lele.
* In situations where Magnezone cannot OHKO the opposing Pokemon, it is worthwhile to use Thunder Wave instead. Remember that Magnezone is still slower than some Pokemon after their Speed is reduced. Mega Alakazam, for example, is still faster than Magnezone and will Speed tie if Magnezone is running maximum Speed with a Modest nature.

Team Options
========

* Stealth Rock support from Landorus-T is great as the added bonus of U-turn and Intimidate support is greatly appreciated. Since Landorus-T can draw in Celesteela and Skarmory, the U-turn from Landorus-T means easier trapping of these Pokemon.
* Removal of entry hazards with Latios, Excadrill, and Tapu Fini is a must in situations where Magnezone may have to take a +1 Focus Blast from Mega Alakazam.
* U-turn and Volt Switch support is greatly appreciated with Magnezone. Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Tapu Koko are great partners for Magnezone; Tapu Koko further assists Magnezone by bolstering its STAB Thunderbolt. Additionally, Rotom-W and Tapu Koko can lure in Ferrothorn, and Tornadus-T can lure in Steel-types in general for Magnezone to trap.
* Water-types such as Gyarados, Manaphy, and Keldeo can assist Magnezone with keeping Ground-types at bay while taking advantage of Pokemon that Magnezone removes or scares off.
* Slower Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Hoopa-U can take advantage of Pokemon crippled by Thunder Wave while still continuing to run a train through the rest of the opponent's team.

This is just a smidgen slower than base 115 Speed Pokemon such as Zygarde-10%, though thankfully it allows Magnezone to outspeed most Steel-types in the OU tier. Ultimately, this means Magnezone will be slower than Dugtrio and Greninja.
* Maximum Special Attack investment is for maximizing damage output.

Usage Tips
========

* This set attempts to be a hybrid of sorts by trapping Steel-type Pokemon while being moderately faster than its previous sets; however, it is more vulnerable to counterplay.
* Bear in mind Choice Scarf Magnezone is slower than many Pokemon in the tier such as Zygarde-10%, Greninja, and Dugtrio and weaker in power than its previous sets.
* The primary goal of Magnezone is to trap and either KO or weaken Steel-types, though it can also be used for revenge killing Pokemon slower than it or handling other threats that can put a damper on Magnezone's teammates. Such examples are non-Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, Mega Pinsir, and Kyurem-B.
* Under some circumstances, such as facing slower teams that have been weakened, Magnezone can be a late-game cleaner. Make sure that special walls and Ground-types have been eliminated first.
* Be very wary of using Magnezone if the opponent is carrying Magnezone and / or Dugtrio. Dugtrio can easily take advantage of Magnezone locked into an Electric-type attack and threaten to KO Magnezone with STAB Earthquake. Opposing Magnezone can take advantage of Magnezone locked into Thunderbolt or Flash Cannon.

Team Options
========

* Setup sweepers such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Pinsir, and Magearna appreciate Magnezone's assistance.
* Offensive powerhouses such as Mega Alakazam, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Lele can take advantage of Steel-types being removed.
* Tapu Koko gets an honorable mention as it can provide Magnezone with Electric Terrain, while Magnezone can clear out Ferrothorn and Scizor for Tapu Koko.
* Pokemon with Volt Switch and U-turn pair well with Magnezone as they can provide it with an easy switch in. Consider Pokemon such as Landorus-T, which also provides access to Stealth Rock—a key entry hazard to help Magnezone secure KOs. With Landorus-T drawing in Ground-immune Steel-types, it makes it that much easier for Magnezone.
* Fire-types such as Heatran and Volcanion can assist with the removal of Grass-types and keep Ground-types from switching in safely.
* Removal of Ground-types is something Magnezone greatly appreciates. Azumarill, Keldeo, Manaphy, and Greninja are Pokemon that can help drown out Ground-types while appreciating Ferrothorn being removed.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Thunder can be used over Thunderbolt in situations where Magnezone is being used on a rain team. Be aware of the accuracy drop outside of rain.
* Assault Vest helps Magnezone check threats such as Tapu Koko better; it also helps with surviving a Focus Blast from Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam if Magnezone is at full health.
* Magnet Rise eliminates one of Magnezone's biggest weaknesses. Air Balloon can also help assist with this strategy. This is mostly utilized for trapping Excadrill, which is otherwise difficult for Magnezone to trap.
* Discharge's 30% paralysis rate is worth considering on Magnezone if power isn't of concern. Bear in mind paralysis only cuts Speed by 50% in SM.
* Hidden Power Ground is for more specific situations where Magnezone is trapping Heatran and other Magnezone.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dugtrio:** Dugtrio gets a top mention because it can effectively trap Magnezone most of the time with Arena Trap and KO it with STAB Earthquake. If Magnezone dares to use any Electric-type moves Dugtrio will likely take advantage of Magnezone everytime.

**Magnezone:** Ironically, enemy Magnezone can counter Magnezone under certain circumstances. Choice sets not locked into Hidden Power Fire can fall to opposing Magnezone.

**Ground-types:** Due to the quadruple weakness, Ground-types are the bane of Magnezone's existence; outside of Flash Cannon, Magnezone doesn't really have a lot of options to quickly eliminate them, either. Excadrill, Landorus-T, Garchomp, both formes of Zygarde, and Hippowdon can take advantage of Magnezone locked into Thunderbolt or Volt Switch and set up. Zygarde-10% gets a special mention as it will outspeed Choice Scarf Magnezone. Many Ground-types should be aware of switching into Choice Specs Flash Cannon as it can do a significant amount of damage.

**Fighting-types:** Pherosoma, Conkeldurr, and Terrakion threaten Magnezone with powerful Fighting-type attacks. Conkeldurr can be worse for Magnezone as it bypasses Magnezone's Speed with STAB Mach Punch and can heal off Magnezone's damage with STAB Drain Punch.

**Fire-types:** Mega Charizard X, Alolan Marowak, and Heatran are Pokemon Magnezone doesn't often want to mess with. Though Heatran can be at risk with its Steel typing, it can usually win out against slower Magnezone or outspeed Choice Scarf Magnezone with its own Choice Scarf. Alolan Marowak is not a Pokemon that enjoys constantly switching into STAB Flash Cannons, though it can take advantage of its Electric immunity while resisting Hidden Power Fire.

**Earthquake:** Though Magnezone can trap Steel-types, some threats such as Metagross, Celesteela, and Excadrill are often equipped with Earthquake.

**Special Walls:** Pokemon suited to take special attacks such as Chansey are best at shutting down Magnezone offensively. Chansey can wear Magnezone down with Seismic Toss while having access to recovery.

It's about the same from XY - nothing too different IMO. I left Magnet Rise in Other Options - I am not opposed to writing it if enough people think it is worthy of being added.

i think specs should be the first set mostly because i think scarf is kinda bad since its speed tier is even worse this gen and its a lot worse for trapping things like ferro and celesteela. should also mention that magrise/air balloon is a dedicated excadrill trapper and not good at anything else really. also chople w/ twave should be mentioned in oo because it can shut down things like megazam really well

Mention Occa+Mirror coat in OO to trap Tran and add the potential for Mirror Coat alongside Chople to take Focus Blast from Zam and OHKO back. AV's a thing in Battle Spot and it doesn't seem that much worse in 6v6 than it does there from my limited playtime with it so yeah maybe give it a mention there too.

Honestly I think scarf could probably be dropped to OO tbh. It isn't fast enough to forgo timid but it really wishes it had the extra power of even just modest behind it, and it is neither a good trapper nor a good set in general. Honestly the fact that Chople even works well (underrated set btw; I personally find it more consistent than scarf, but maybe that's just me) is testamount to how much of an effect being able to run modest has on it's viability, and it really shows every time scarf doesn't deal enough damage to stop something using Spikes or whatever.

What do you think of HP Ground to lure opposing Magnezone, Marowak and Heatran ? HP Fire is almost set for a variety of Pokemon, but if you go for your own Scizor sweep or try to win with another steel prone to trapping for example, it can be quite useful. It needs Team support to deal with steels that are 4 times weak to Fire though

HP Fire is almost set for a variety of Pokemon, but if you go for your own Scizor sweep or try to win with another steel prone to trapping for example, it can be quite useful. It needs Team support to deal with steels that are 4 times weak to Fire though
Since Magnezone is one of those Pokemon designed to fit around your team and not so much what Magnezone wants, I think it's okay to mention in Other Options. Some teams don't necessarily struggle with Ferrothorn and Scizor.

I wouldn't use it for the sole sake of Marowak though. I guess I would consider it an "added bonus".

I might do some more ladder testing. I'm thinking the Chople Mirror Coat is a little more worthwhile considering the popularity of Tapu Lele / Mega Alakazam and, no lie, Electric-types locked onto Electric-type moves are bar none the worst in my personal opinion. I reserve exceptions for Magnezone due to trapping, but sometimes it can be pretty awful if it's not trapping a Steel.

Posting to say that I was rather impressed with Chople Berry Magnezone. I won't praise that it's a godly Pokemon, but the surprise factor that it has really can screw up a lot of players that think they get a free Focus Blast on Magnezone. Being a solid check to Focus Blast Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam is something that is pretty admirable. It also can help in a dire situation with Pheromosa as, if it stays to High Jump Kick, Magnezone can survive with the Chople Berry so long as Magnezone remains fairly healthy. The real benefit, though, was the ability to switch attacks. I'm probably one of the biggest haters of Choice Electric-types, and I admit I have a bias. Magnezone is probably the closest (next to Zekrom, though even then I preferred the LO sets) that I have accepted for a while. Occa is pretty solid with this setup too. Usually Mirror Coat / Volt Switch / HP Fire / Flash Cannon will do the trick just like listed above. Occa really should use HP Ground IMO since it generalizes more of a Heatran trapper than trapping something like Ferrothorn.

As for Assault Vest, I think it's pretty OO worthy. There are a couple cool things about it like being a Pokemon that can handle Tapu Koko if it gets some healing support, but that might be rare in teams that don't really specialize in slowing down either. This is probably the more notable of calculations with it:

252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 128 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone in Electric Terrain: 84-100 (26.8 - 31.9%) -- 0.8% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

I feel Assault Vest would almost need a more specially defensive oriented variation of EVs, which could also cut into Magnezone's effective power. I think I'm with you in OO at best. I think the only other noteworthy mon it helps with is Tornadus-T maybe defensive Celesteela that lack Earthquake. So I'll at least "mention" them.

I'll see what other QC people think on Chople. I think it carves a potential set, but I am not going to tear heads if it doesn't exist.

overview

although magnezone's main role is to trap steel types for teammates, it can run various sets effectively. also, even though magnezone provides support in its main niche (steels), i wouldn't label it solely as a support poke considering the fact that it can be a wallbreaker due to its strong spatk stat alongside specs, revenge killer for specific pokes, or even a tailored check / lure to stuff like excadrill with air balloon + magnet rise, for example. to give a clearer explanation, you can mention that magnezone can still be useful depending on the matchup even if there are no steels to trap, this is a pretty important point as you don't want dead weight on any build. magnezone is annoyed by common offensive types such as ground, fire and fighting, while prevalent ground types disallow you from spamming volt switch easily. i guess a pretty important thing to mention is that it maintains its niche in s/m due to the popularity of steel types to cover other threats in the metagame, making it more effective in a larger number of matchups.

although every move is important in some way, i don't think hp fire should be listed last considering thats what allows it to trap ferrothorn and mega scizor. set can probably go something like volt | flash cannon | hp fire | tbolt. this is mainly because tbolt is solely used when the extra power is needed against something like celesteela, while hp fire actually allows it to trap the pokes i mentioned. this can be finalized by the final qc but thats imo.

sorta tough to talk about a single spread for it but i guess enough for bulky mscizor works (i'd honestly speed creep some more if i'd use this, but for the sake of the analysis i'll leave it like that). just remove the mention of 144 speed cause that won't be accomplishing much if the main target is minimum speed tran, a non-existent spread in s/m. i'm iffy on the 176 one as well but i've seen a bunch of different azu variants so idkkk, its something to discuss. make a brief mention of choice specs as the chosen item too pls. something i often run on my magnezone's is modest w/ max speed which is nice for min speed rotom-w, mega venusaur, and random stuff around that speed tier.

usage tips (spex)

its like half-mentioned, but it would be much better with a clear statement that magnezone should be used to trap problematic steel types for the rest of your team. if there is nothing to trap (left), magnezone can either be used as sack fodder to keep up momentum or punch holes into the opponent's pokes. very good examples were made w/ duggy n other grounds as well as opposing zone, but the opening line of that point can be as with any choiced poke, be careful of what you lock yourself into. in general, punch holes into the opponent's team whenever possible with strong volt switches, tbolts and cannons.

idk how i feel about saying magnezone should be used as a support poke. instead of that, your points afterwards on its objective being to trap steel types, revenge kill certain threats, and pivot around via volt switch / doubles is optimal. again: if there is nothing to trap (left), magnezone can either be used as sack fodder to keep up momentum or revenge kill stuff like mega pinsir for example.

(twave) chople berry is a nice tech on zone, i'd be cool w/ keeping that oo as i know you had doubts. i've used analytic specs on some more fun teams throughout oras but for sake of analysis i would omit it, sry! av seems /decent/ for tanking hits from the mentioned mons, but as i am not 100% sure, i'll leave it to the last qc member.

Occa really should use HP Ground IMO since it generalizes more of a Heatran trapper than trapping something like Ferrothorn.
Just a note, but you trap Heatran about as effectively without sacrificing HP Fire if you run Mirror Coat, and this is generally better because they key thing Occa Mag has going for it over Dugtrio (aside from the bulk) is it's ability to trap ground-neutral Steel-types like Ferrothorn and bulky Mega Scizor at the same time.

vs. 252 HP / 0 SpA Tran, Mirror Coating Lava Plume puts it in range of Thunderbolt, meaning that it takes the same number of turns to eliminate it as it would if it were using HP Ground. If the same spread carries Magma Storm, Mirror Coat actively deals more than HP Ground does, and offensive variants just faint due to both hitting harder and having less HP to take the hit with.

I made the changes Nedor . You may want to do a second sweep of it real quick. I tried to clean it up (I also tried to emphasize the other roles the other sets have - after all Specs Flash Cannon can spook Tangrowth and Mega Venusaur). After all I think it's more of a support Pokemon (which isn't bad in itself) that dual functions depending on its set.

This DOES mean, though, with the changes made I would like to suggest adding the Lure set. I feel after a couple of people have mentioned that they also have secretly used them (and stealth confirm from nedor qc approval - sorry m8) I think they are worthy of a set. After all, the Lure sets really fuck around with a lot of teams that are reliant on Fighting-type attacks while giving Heatran the middle finger in another limelight.

I am a little nervous on Occa as Heatran can still Earth Power Magnezone to oblivion and there is no way to outspeed it outside of Sticky Webs / paralysis. For what it's worth - I think Chople is very worthy of a set. Occa I'm a little 50/50 on, but since the analysis currently mentions how it can be used as a lure and it has been used for that in the past (and even sometimes in the present) it's worthy of discussion. This set could also include the Air Balloon and Magnet Rise set as a Moves option / Set Details as well.

Timid in Set Details. You want Modest majority of the time, but Timid has roughly 90% chance to beat Hammer Arm Mega Metagross one-on-one (have to be damn near max Speed though).

I've personally used Volt Switch, but I get it's not always an ideal move to have with this set and some people have used both Thunder Wave and Mirror Coat on the same set. Furthermore, Thunderbolt is better for scenarios like Celesteela.

I added the Lure set. I also fleshed out Genesect as an option for Occa Berry (primarily I think this is the only alluring reason to use it at this point, but Heatran is okay I guess?).

I don't think I'll get too much flak for it, but I put it over the Scarf set which I think is probably the set the most amount of people care least about anyway.

p2 and Nedor may just want to quick glance it or approve / deny it. Since this wasn't in the original QC checks you had I just don't want to step over the toes.
 
Something else you could add for team options would be M-Aerodactly, since its Pursuit set forms a great Dual Trapping Core with Specs or Balloon Magnezone (Scarf set would be redundant because Aero already acts as a RKiller), and those two have near perfect type synergy

This is confusing since Mag sorta beats down water types. Please clarify.

Grass types can be a section in checks and counters, for their ability to take on non Specs Mag comfortably. The caveat of Volt Switch should be mentioned of course

  • Once Magnezone has nothing left to trap it can be used as to create major dents on teams if locked into STAB Thunderbolt or STAB Flash Cannon.
  • Choice Specs is very powerful; however, being locked into Volt Switch and Thunderbolt can scream bad news for Magnezone as this leaves Magnezone it prone to switch-ins such as Dugtrio and other Ground-types. Other Magnezone can attempt to KO Magnezone if it is trapped onto Flash Cannon.
  • If the brutal power isn't necessary from Choice Specs after certain threats are gone, (add comma) Magnezone can be used to take a hit from Knock Off. Though the damage might be a bit brutal from some Pokemon such as Bisharp, the freedom of selecting moves is sometimes ("sometimes" is a bit redundant with the "some teams" at the end) can be more worthwhile against some teams.

  • As this Magnezone set is primarily a support Pokemon that leaves heavy dents, (add comma) anything that appreciates the removal of Steel-types are Pokemon that works well with Magnezone. Such examples are Mega Pinsir, Mega Aerodactyl, Tapu Bulu, Choice Scarf Nihilego, and Mega Alakazam.
  • Stealth Rock and any other entry hazards are highly recommended with Magnezone. Landorus-T makes a great partner for Magnezone thanks to U-turn and access to Stealth Rock.   • Pokemon that can utilize U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Tapu Koko can be great partners for this set as they can give Magnezone an easy switch in with this Magnezone to help ease Magnezone coming in as well.   • Maximum Speed with a Timid nature gets an honorable mention as Metagross that lack Earthquake always lose to Magnezone one-on-one. Magnezone has roughly a 90% chance to 2HKO with two Thunderbolts while Hammer Arm will bring make Mega Metagross slower than Magnezone.
  • Air Balloon gives Magnezone a Ground-type immunity (which also prevents it from being trapped via Arena Trap). It also allows Magnezone to safely set up Magnet Rise against Excadrill and Mega Metagross lacking Hammer Arm.

  • This set plays differently from the other Magnezone sets, (add comma) as you have more freedom with your attacks Magnezone has the freedom to switch moves in exchange for the Special Attack or Speed boost from the Choice Specs and Choice Scarf sets, respectively.
  • As the set doesn't necessarily display your its item Magnezone can bluff either of its Choice sets. This is incredibly devastating against opponents that think they can take advantage of Magnezone theoretically hypothetically (more pertinent in this context imo) being locked into a single attack.
  • Chople Berry allows Magnezone to overcome different threats such as Pheromosa who are cocky enough to use High Jump Kick, Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam using Focus Blast, Tornadus-T using Superpower or Focus Blast, Mega Metagross using Hammer Arm, Mega Pinsir using Close Combat, and Keldeo locked into Sacred Sword.
  • Thunderbolt is usually Magnezone's go-to move with Flash Cannon and Hidden Power Fire being used for specific threats.
  • Mirror Coat is Magnezone's best move against Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele if they aren't setting up Calm Mind. This works especially well against Choice-locked Tapu Lele.
  • In situations where Magnezone cannot OHKO the opposing Pokemon, (add comma) it is worthwhile to use Thunder Wave instead. Remember that Magnezone is still slower than some Pokemon after their Speed is reduced. Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Tapu Koko are great partners with for Magnezone; (semi-colon) Tapu Koko further assists Magnezone with by bolstering its STAB Thunderbolt. Additionally, Rotom-W and Tapu Koko can lure in Ferrothorn, and Tornadus-T can lure in Steel-types in general for Magnezone to trap The added benefit of Rotom-W and Tapu Koko drawing in Ferrothorn while Tornadus-T can usually draw just about any Steel-type makes it great for Magnezone to come in and secure a trap.

  • Thunder can be used over Thunderbolt in situations where Magnezone is being used on a rain team. Be aware of the accuracy drop outside of rain.
  • Occa Berry with Mirror Coat can be used to prank Genesect when it uses its Fire-type moves and potentially OHKO it back. This also works well against Heatran under circumstances that where Magnezone may flee to a Pokemon immune to Earth Power.
  • Assault Vest helps Magnezone check threats such as Tapu Koko better; it also helps with surviving a Focus Blast from Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam if Magnezone is at full health.
  • Magnet Rise eliminates one of Magnezone's biggest weaknesses. Air Balloon can also help assist with this strategy. This is mostly utilized for trapping Excadrill, which is otherwise who otherwise is difficult for Magnezone to trap.
  • Discharge's 30% paralysis rate is worth considering on Magnezone if power isn't of concern. Bear in mind paralysis only cuts Speed by 50% in SM this time around.
  • Hidden Power Ground is for more specialty specific situations where Magnezone is trapping Heatran and other Magnezone.
Checks and Counters

**Dugtrio:** Though a Pokemon that could be mentioned in both Ground-types and Earthquake category, (unnecessary fluff imo; that Dugtrio is mentioned separately is rather self-explanatory) Dugtrio gets a top mention because it can effectively trap Magnezone most of the time with Arena Trap and KO it with STAB Earthquake. If Magnezone dares to use any Electric-type moves Dugtrio will likely take advantage of Magnezone everytime.

**Magnezone:** Ironically, (add comma) enemy Magnezone can counter Magnezone under certain circumstances. Choice sets not locked into Hidden Power Fire can fall to opposing Magnezone.

**Ground-types:** Due to the quadruple weakness, (add comma) Ground-types are the bane of Magnezone's existence; outside of Flash Cannon, (add comma) Magnezone doesn't really have a lot of options to quickly eliminate them, either. Excadrill, both Landorus formes, Zygarde 50%, Hippowdon, and Garchomp can take advantage of Magnezone. Garchomp, both versions formes of Zygarde, and both versions formes of Landorus can take advantage of Magnezone locked into Thunderbolt or Volt Switch and use Magnezone to set up. Zygarde-10% gets a special mention as it will outspeed Choice Scarf Magnezone.

**Fighting-types:** Though rare in the OU tier nowadays, (add comma) Pherosoma, Infernape, Conkeldurr, and Terrakion threaten Magnezone with powerful Fighting-type attacks. Conkeldurr can be worse for Magnezone as it bypasses Magnezone's Speed with STAB Mach Punch and can heal off Magnezone's damage with STAB Drain Punch.

**Fire-types:** Mega Charizard X, Alolan Marowak, and Heatran are Pokemon Magnezone doesn't often want to mess with. Though Heatran can be at risk with its Steel typing, (add comma) Heatran it can usually win out against slower Magnezone or outspeed Choice Scarf Magnezone with its own Choice Scarf. Alolan Marowak is not a Pokemon that enjoys constantly switching into STAB Flash Cannons, though it can take advantage of both Volt Switch and Thunderbolt its Electric immunity while resisting Hidden Power Fire.

**Grass-types:** Though Grass-types need to be wary of Choice Specs Flash Cannon, Amoonguss and Mega Venusaur don't normally fear a whole lot from Magnezone's repertoire. Amoonguss can switch into anything and recover safely with Regenerator, (add comma) while Mega Venusaur threatens Magnezone out with either Hidden Power Fire, Leech Seed, or Knock Off to further cripple Magnezone. Tangrowth needs to be even more wary of the Choice Specs set; however, Assault Vest Tangrowth can usually switch into Magnezone without many issues. (nitpicking, but perhaps mention that Venusaur and Tangrowth can also carry Earthquake either here or under "Earthquake")

**Earthquake:** Though Magnezone can trap Steel-types, (add comma) some of them threats such as Metagross, Celesteela, and Excadrill are often equipped with Earthquake. Metagross, Celesteela, and Excadrill are reminders of this.

**Special Walls:** Pokemon suited to take special attacks such as Chansey are best at shutting down Magnezone offensively. Chansey can wear Magnezone down with Seismic Toss while having access to recovery.

  • Magnet Pull, great typing, and workable stats are the prime reason to use Magnezone. combine this statement into the rest. While many players probably do understand the implications of these traits (ie Magnet Pull trapping, rather than Magnet Pull itself, is one of the reasons to use Magnezone; checking a variety of threats because of great typing, is another reason), many (newer) players probably don't yet know what kind of traits imply what functions. Emphasizing "analysis" will help people's mindsets in general.
  • Magnezone is a great support Pokemon that can specialize in dealing a significant amount of damage with Chocie Specs or be utilized as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf.
  • Magnezone is also well-known for being a fantastic lure with Air Balloon and Magnet Rise or using Chople Berry with Thunder Wave or Mirror Coat.
  • Steel / Electric provides 11 resistances and an immunity - ideal for helping to handle Pokemon that Magnezone doesn't trap sometimes such as Tapu Koko.
  • Mediocre Speed forces Magnezone to often get outpaced by a lot of the meta. Thankfully, majority of Magnezone's trapping options don't exceed Base 110 Speed.

Really sorry to intrude after a GP check, but the analysis needs to be more critical towards Magnezone.

Overview

It's not a bad Pokemon by any means, but the overview doesn't convey the idea that Magnezone is a medium risk, high reward Pokemon. It can give you a huge advantage if team matchup works out in your favor, but it can also hinder you due to how exploitable it is. Its low Speed doesn't give much utility against offense, and Scarf can be played around (not to mention the fact that it's still outsped by a bunch of stuff), though Lure is decent here. There needs to be more emphasis on the fact that its weaknesses undermine its large number of resistances, since a significant portion of the metagame a chance to hit it for Super Effective damage. That said, Steel / Electric is pretty dang handy for certain Pokemon like the Tapus and Genesect, so it's definitely not all bad for Magnezone in that regard. To go into more detail:

  • Magnet Pull, great typing, and workable stats are the prime reason to use Magnezone.
It's ability to trap Steel-types is pretty much the only reason to use Magnezone. I would rework this line so that Magnet Pull is emphasized, while its typing and workable stats are used to support the idea of using it as a Steel-type killer.

  • Magnezone is a great support Pokemon that can specialize in dealing a significant amount of damage with Chocie Specs or be utilized as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf.
I think "great" is too strong of a word for Magnezone, as it's definitely more of a niche Pokemon. I would also get right to the point on why one would use Magnezone; its unique ability to trap and demolish Steel-types without counterplay (for now...) is downright game changing. You should list several of these Pokemon by name (Skarmory, Celesteela, Ferrothorn, Scizor etc) and then go onto to mention that teams that rely on these Pokemon as a defensive Pokemon are crippled by Magnezone.

  • Magnezone is also well-known for being a fantastic lure with Air Balloon and Magnet Rise or using Chople Berry with Thunder Wave or Mirror Coat.
Is it well known? I didn't even know this was a thing until now (especially since it wasn't a set in the previous generation.) This sentence is fine, but i'd just remove well-known part.

Magnezone's mediocre Speed (+exploitable typing) is a huge, huge, huge problem for it and this line doesn't give the reader that sense at all. The Pokemon that it can't trap that outspeed it are numerous, and most of them can OHKO it.

Choice Specs

  • Volt Switch is mainly used for momentum and double switches. The benefit of Volt Switch on this moveset in comparison to the previous set is that Volt Switch is slower - allowing more Pokemon to switch into the field with smaller risk of being harmed.
You'll need to change this now the set is #1 but also, you should mention that Volt Switch's main benefit is that it's an incredibly low risk damage option that puts you in an advantageous situation (extra nice since it avoids giving opponents an opportunity to abuse Magnezone) and deals noticeable chip damage due to Magnezone's high base SpA. It's not always free due to the significant amount of Electric immunes in the tier, but with the exception of Marowak, Magnezone can make these Pokemon regret directly switching into it via Flash Cannon.

  • Volt Switch is a move that can be great for momentum as Magnezone is usually slower than the average Pokemon.
Kind of a useless sentence on its own. Maybe change this to telling the player to use Thunderbolt where the extra boost in power is appreciated (Since most of the time you'll be clicking Volt Switch)

  • If the brutal power isn't necessary from Choice Specs after certain threats are gone Magnezone can be used to take a hit from Knock Off. Though the damage might be a bit brutal from some Pokemon such as Bisharp, the freedom of selecting moves is sometimes more worthwhile against some teams.
I'd rework this entirely. Instead of mentioning Knock Off, you should advise the player to sack Magnezone period after its done its job due its limited utility. (Knock Off generally does a considerable amount of damage to its so it won't be able to switch into them anyway)

Usage tips

  • Choice Specs is very powerful; however, being locked into Volt Switch and Thunderbolt can scream bad news for Magnezone as this leaves Magnezone prone to switch-ins such as Dugtrio and other Ground-types. Other Magnezone can attempt to KO Magnezone if it is trapped onto Flash Cannon.
What's your tip here? I would suggest that if you find yourself in a situation where you can't trap the opposing Pokemon, they have Dugtrio or Magnezone waiting in the wings, or you simply can't decide between using Flash Cannon or Thunderbolt, it might be best to just switch out manually instead of Volt Switching.

Lure

  • Chople Berry should be treated with special care, so make sure that Magnezone avoids Knock Off at all costs.
I wouldn't go that far. Chople's definitely good for one upping certain Pokemon, but if you find yourself in a situation where it's better to tank a Knock Off and KO a Pokemon, then by all means go ahead. Otherwise you shouldn't directly switch into a Knock Off user anyway.

Choice Scarf

  • Magnezone should be utilized as a Support Pokemon, though can still be utilized to revenge kill certain threats and even clean if there are few Electric- or Steel-types remaining.
More emphasis should be placed on the fact Choice Scarf Magnezone falls short of some key Pokemon. Choice Scarf functions as a hybrid set of sorts, allowing Magnezone to trap Steel-types, but also giving it enough Speed to "keep up" with the metagame. Unfortunately, it trades a lot of power and is even more vulnerable to counterplay when using this set, but it's still decent.

  • Magnezone should often be used as a revenge killer; however, Magnezone can attempt to switch into some Pokemon such as Ferrothorn without too many issues.
It actually struggles to revenge kill most of the metagame due to its underwhelming Speed tier. Mentioning that it's a hybrid mon works best here.

Team Options

  • Fire-types such as Heatran, Volcanion, and Mega Charizard Y can obliterate Grass-types. Though they don't necessarily appreciate the removal of Steel-types, they do appreciate Magnezone being able to remove Water-types.
Magnezone can't really be used to remove Water-types. At best it can force out bulky water-types, but Magnezone struggles to directly switch into Water-type moves in general.

Counters

**Ground-types:** Due to the quadruple weakness Ground-types are the bane of Magnezone's existance. Outside of Flash Cannon Magnezone doesn't really have a lot of options to quickly eliminate them, either. Excadrill, both Landorus forms, Zygarde 50%, Hippowdon, and Garchomp can take advantage of Magnezone. Garchomp, both versions of Zygarde, and both versions of Landorus can take advantage of Magnezone locked into Thunderbolt or Volt Switch and use Magnezone to set up. Zygarde 10% gets a special mention as it will outspeed Choice Scarf Magnezone.
You should mention that some of these Pokemon take non-insignificant damage from Flash Cannon (and downright lethal damage from Choice Specs Flash Cannon), so it wouldn't be accurate to say that they're the bane of its existence. The're still amazing checks/counters of course.

**Fighting-types:** Though rare in the OU tier nowadays Pherosoma, Infernape, Conkeldurr, and Terrakion threaten Magnezone with powerful Fighting-type attacks. Conkeldurr can be worse for Magnezone as it bypasses Magnezone's Speed with STAB Mach Punch and can heal Magnezone's damage with STAB Drain Punch.
Take out the "rare" line and remove Infernape. Also mention that they cannot directly switch into Magnezone without taking significant damage.

Remove the Grass-type section entirely. None of them can take on Magnezone using Specs Flash Cannon in a 1v1 matchup, with the exception of EQ Venusaur, but even that takes (51.2 - 60.4%) from Flash Cannon which is quite a bit of damage.

AVest Magnezone is quite good tbh - let's it come in more freely on lele and Fini etc. and I'm ot entirely convinced on chople berry anyway since a lot of pokemon are dropping their fighting coverage. shuca / avest would be better options imo

  • Assault Vest helps Magnezone check threats such as Tapu Koko better. Also helps with surviving Focus Blast from Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam if Magnezone is at full health.
