With Sablenite, Mandibuzz acts as a consistent defensive answer to a plethora of special attackers including Chandelure, Noivern, Dragapult, and Mewtwo. However, the combination of boosting moves and super effective coverage can prove too much for it. Foul Play allows Mandibuzz to at least dent these Pokemon and to avoid passivity versus threats such as Excadrill and Necrozma-DM, punishing their setup attempts. U-turn allows it to gain momentum versus Pokemon like Hydreigon that can use Mandibuzz as setup bait. To gain momentum, it is sometimes worth sacrificing a portion of Mandibuzz's health and U-turn against threats to it like Terrakion, Rhyperior, Kyurem, and Zeraora. Defog provides entry hazard control. Alternatively, Toxic is an effective punish to several of Mandibuzz's common switch-ins, such as Altarianite Arcanine, Terrakion, and Zeraora.

Mandibuzz has a few issues: a vulnerability to Stealth Rocks impacts its overall effectiveness. If it's inflicted with the poison or burn status, Mandibuzz will be severely crippled. Furthermore, Magic Bounce is insufficient to avoid status, considering the omnipresence of Scald on bulky Water-types. Mandibuzz also struggles to keep Stealth Rock off the field against threats like Mamoswine, Terrakion, and the ever present Ampharosite Clefable. Since Mandibuzz is faster than Sablenite Corviknight, it will fail to gain momentum when facing it. Finally, the prevalence of Altarianite Arcanine, Zeraora, Zekrom, and Terrakion is unfavorable to Mandibuzz. To alleviate these matchups, the following are adequate partners: Manectite Mew, a good defensive blanket check; Ampharosite Clefable, bringing a key Electric resistance, Stealth Rock, and Heal Bell support; Banettite and Latiasite Toxapex, absorbing status moves and Fairy-type attacks and effectively countering Arcanine, with Latiasite Toxapex also countering Mamoswine. Other bulky Water-types such as Rotom-W and Jellicent can work as Arcanine counters that can burn other physical attackers and, in Rotom's case, form a VoltTurn core with Mandibuzz. Defensive staples such as Corviknight and Hippowdon are good partners for Mandibuzz, yet both compete with it for the Sablenite slot. To pair either one with Sablenite Mandibuzz, Venusaurite is a valid alternative. In Hippowdon's case, Altarianite can also be run, making it a consistent Terrakion answer. Considering Mandibuzz's role as a slow pivot, pairing it with frail breakers such as Terrakion, Zeraora, and Dragapult is ideal. Mandibuzz also appreciates Altarianite Arcanine as a teammate, for it pressures many threats to Mandibuzz, such as Terrakion, Zeraora, Lucario, Kommo-O, and Zekrom, as well as Pokemon that would set up on it, such as Keldeo and Hydreigon. In return, Mandibuzz can take on Pokemon that bother Arcanine like Hippowdon, Manectite Mew, and Banettite Jellicent.

With Sablenite, Mandibuzz becomes a consistent defensive answer to a plethora of special attackers including Lunala, Noivern, Dragapult, Mew, I would leave out the Mew mention. Too many scenarios where Mew is capable of Nasty Plotting with a ton of different stones and 2HKOing Mandi at +2 while Mandi can't KO back with Foul Play. Gengar, and Mewtwo. However, the combination of boosting moves, boosting items, and super effective coverage can prove too much for it. Foul Play allows Mandibuzz to dent these Pokemon and to avoid passivity versus threats such as Pinsirite Arcanine, Excadrill, and Necrozma Dusk Mane, punishing their set-up attempts. U-turn allows it to gain momentum, and it's the recommended move versus Pokemon like Keldeo or Hydreigon that can use Mandibuzz as set-up bait. Defog provides hazard control. Alternatively, Toxic is an effective punish to several of Mandibuzz's common switch-ins, such as Altarianite Arcanine, and Reshiram, and Hydreigon. I don't think Hydreigon usually wants to switch into Mandibuzz considering Mandibuzz wants to pivot out with U-turn most of the time regardless and Hydreigon can't really threaten Mandibuzz that hard unless it manages to set up before Mandibuzz gets in.

Mandibuzz has a few issues: a vulnerability to Stealth Rocks impacts its overall effectiveness. If it's inflicted with the poison or burn status, Mandibuzz will be severely crippled. Magic Bounce is insufficient to avoid status, considering the viability of Zekrom, Reshiram, and Ampharosite Clefable. Mention Scald burns from bulky Water-types as well The latter also thwarts Mandibuzz attempts at clearing Stealth Rocks, similarly to Terrakion and Lucarionite Mamoswine. Since Mandibuzz is faster than Sablenite Corviknight, it will fail to gain momentum when facing it. Finally, the metagame prevalence of Altarianite Arcanine, Zeraora, Zekrom, and Terrakion is unfavorable to Mandibuzz. To alleviate these match-ups, the following are adequate partners: Manectite Mew, a good defensive blanket check; Ampharosite Clefable, bringing a key Electric resistance, Stealth Rock, and Heal Bell support; Bannettite and Latiasite Toxapex, absorbing status moves and Fairy Type attacks and effectively countering Arcanine, with Latiasite Toxapex also countering Mamoswine; other bulky Water-Types such as Rotom-Wash and Jellicent can work as Arcanine counters that can burn other physical attackers and, in Rotom's case, form a VoltTurn core with Mandibuzz.
Defensive staples such as Hippowdon and Corviknight are, in theory, good partners for Mandibuzz, yet both compete with it for the Sablenite Stone. Provide some examples for alternative stones for these two guys. Mainly Venusaurite, and then Altarianite is pretty neat for Hippo to wall out Terrak. Considering Mandibuzz's role as a slow pivot, pairing it with frail breakers such as Terrakion, Zeraora, or Gengar is ideal. Mandibuzz also appreciates Altarianite Arcanine as a teammate, for it pressures many threats to Mandibuzz, as well as Pokemon that would set up on it. There are a lot of things like Rotoms, Mamoswine, Rhyperior and Glalite Toxtricity that are able to beat both of these mons and Mandibuzz and Arcanine tend to be able to beat a lot of similar things. If you want to keep this pairing be a little less general and hone in on stuff like Arcanine's ability to revenge Hydreigon, Alt Kommo-o, Lucario and Dracozolt and mention that Mandibuzz can take on stuff that bothers Arcanine like Gengar, Manectite Mew, Lunala, and Chandelure.

With Sablenite, Mandibuzz becomes a consistent defensive answer to a plethora of special attackers including Lunala, Noivern, Dragapult, Gengar, and Mewtwo. However, the combination of boosting moves, boosting items Very few Pokemon actually use an item aside from a Mega Stone - change this maybe?, and super effective coverage can prove too much for it. Foul Play allows Mandibuzz to dent these Pokemon and to avoid passivity versus threats such as Pinsirite Arcanine, Excadrill and Necrozma Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM, Excadrill and Gengar, punishing their set-up attempts. U-turn allows it to gain momentum, and it's the recommended move versus Pokemon like Keldeo Unused mon, try something more relevant, or reword this to note how Mandibuzz can sacrifice some of its health to get momentum against threats that it commonly loses to, like Terrakion or Zeraora or Hydreigon that can use Mandibuzz as set-up bait. Defog provides hazard control. Alternatively, Toxic is an effective punish to several of Mandibuzz's common switch-ins, such as Altarianite Arcanine, Terrakion and Reshiram. I would tend to argue that Reshiram isn't really the best example for Mandibuzz, as it isn't really too heavily harmed by it despite being inflicted by Toxic, and Reshiram isn't very common anyway.

Mandibuzz has a few issues: a vulnerability to Stealth Rocks impacts its overall effectiveness. If it's inflicted with the poison or burn status, Mandibuzz will be severely crippled. Magic Bounce is insufficient to avoid status, considering the omnipresence of Scald on bulky Water-types Are any of these Water types are worth switching into? Most are actually slower than Mandibuzz and thus momentum is difficult to obtain reliably. as well as the viability of Zekrom, Reshiram Zekrom and Reshiram aren't very major in the metagame, I would rather change this to mention Mamoswine and Terrakion instead., and Ampharosite Clefable. The latter also thwarts Mandibuzz attempts at clearing Stealth Rocks, similarly to Terrakion and Lucarionite Mamoswine. Redundant as per the above comment. Since Mandibuzz is faster than Sablenite Corviknight, it will fail to gain momentum when facing it. However, the combination of boosting moves and super effective coverage can prove too much for it. (not sure how this one fits in context, boosting moves from chandelure / noivern et al? mandibuzz can check them -> however they can overwhelm it -> in those cases dent them with foul play?) Foul Play allows Mandibuzz to dent these Pokemon and to avoid passivity versus threats such as Excadrill and Necrozma Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM, punishing their set-up setup attempts.
