Mario Kart Wii

Could anyone explain something to me?

Why do the heavy karts feel as if they're much slower even when they have close to maximum speed?
I was using the Petey Piranha and Flamer karts and they never seemed to build up a good amount of speed. Is it because of terrible acceleration?

The problem be off-road. Off-road karts are aweful.

Wolt, you don't need to time aything, if you're wheelieing when the POW block hits you'll see some bluey rings around you and you just spin a little.

Also is anyone bothering with the time trial thing because I think I won coconut mall if people actually bothered ?_?

Sure... I don't really care, but sure.

Nah im just gonns crap it, nobody cares enough to bother with it. So I guess this should stay here seeing as it's just discussion, nothing competitive.

So people have been finding lots of exploits and glitches lately and since none have been posted here I thought it would be interesting. Although atm I can only remember a couple, and I don't feel like reasearching into it much.

Grumble volcano exploit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joMbFFk6WZ8

I found out about this when omastar sent me a ghost of him doing it a few days ago. If you haven't seen it, I don't want to spoil it because you'll either be totally shocked and laughing or pissed at exploits etc.
But to quote my comment on the linked video:
"like anyone will pull this of online where theres item hax, people hitting you, random palcement at the start of the race, no mushrooms, and the rock dissapearing after roughly a minute...seriously, be real. This is hard enough in time trial, almost impossible in wifi"
Nintendo apparently are purging ghosts raced this way.

Disconnect exploit

Yeah the bane of all Nintendo wifi is back with a vengeance. If you turn off your router mid-race, you gain points and are counted as being first. I don't know all the details because I told myself im not gonna be doing it. It's shitty.

You'd think they'd have fixed this by now >_>

Why would you gain points for trning it off? Thats just stupid! I completely agree about the shortcut however, although it is cool.

Gamecube controller. A Wavebird actually, but I'm gonna change to a cord controller soon, because it's been starting to bug out on me, and I've lost some races because of it.

I prefer the classic controller, given the choice I'd take it over the bulkiness of the GC controller, even though I don't dislike the GCC

I'm coming 2nd world wide for mushroom gorge. :D And first in Australia obviously. I'm going to try and come first but i have to agree that guy called dude did it in a good time.

Also this is like a shortcut in mushroom gorge but it doesn't work so well. At the start keep driving to the left then use the mushroom to get you a boost then you reach a bouncing mushroom then bounce on the other one in front and land on the brown logs. So it's left of the starting line, it's fun to do when you have a mushroom at that point in a vs race.

I use the wii remote and nunchuck. I think it's easier to do wheelies. Only a few more days until brawl comes out here i might do more tracks as i am extremly bored.

I use the Wii *Wheel. It feels very natural to me.
I don't use the B button though which is the only real difference to the official attachment.

yeah vidd I too like to play mario kart wii using the wii
Ha, don't know how I did that.

I was beating the person who is coming first in mushroom gorge worldwide but then i fucked the last jump up. Yay i'm 1st worldwide now.

Man I recently took up mario kart DS because I never played it competitively in the past, and my thumbs are suffering from SSS (sudden snaking syndrome) e_e
I'm pretty shit though, can't PRB. Also playing two MK games with very different styles at the same time is annoying because I find myself pressing up in DS, and taking wide corners in Wii

I've already seen that done successfully online. What you do is backtrack until you fall in the lava, causing Lakitu to place you on the ramp behind the starting line. Then you simply position yourself and hold the break and gas at the same time to get a rocket boost across. Then proceed to lap around the rock until you win. You'll be in last place up until the last few seconds, so you shouldn't need to worry about items.

The other day when I was doing pretty badly I did some single player and got me a one star rating, and alongside 8200 VR, I look pretty intimidating on wifi =D

I've usually noticed having stars is a way of getting people to disconnect too much. I have 1 star, along with about an 8000 VR, and people just quit after losing the first race against me, it is quite annoying. This sort of thing also happened in MK:DS, so I'm not too surprised.

I've never had problems with disconnecting due to the amount of possible players in one race, though it annoys me when you join a match with only a few people in :/

to be more precise my VR (what does that even stand for? virtual reality?) is 8400 and on the rise
