1v1 Mega Aggron [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Aggron is one of the best physical walls in the 1v1 metagame, with amazing defensive stats that allow it to take hits from a wide range of Pokemon, such as Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, and Haxorus. It can make use of its amazing abilities in Sturdy and Filter to avoid getting KOed while hitting back with powerful moves such as Heavy Slam, Head Smash, and Metal Burst. The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst allows Mega Aggron to neutralize Choice item users such as Naganadel, Greninja, and Genesect, while the combined typing and high Base Power of Heavy Slam and Head Smash let it deal with a plethora of different Pokemon, such as Mega Diancie, Togekiss, Victini, and Mega Charizard Y. Earthquake and Avalanche are strong coverage moves that can give it a better matchup against Pokemon like Aegislash, Heatran, Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, Zygarde, and Garchomp. Mega Aggron also has access to Taunt, which allows it to beat Pokemon that want to play around Metal Burst, like Manaphy, and can shut down certain fast sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon. Mega Aggron's major flaw is its low Special Defense. The need for higher HP and power to beat threats such as Mega Charizard X makes it very vulnerable to specially offensive Pokemon that can play around Sturdy. Metal Burst can also be played around, by either hitting it with a less damaging move in the first turns or using status moves, such as Substitute and Will-O-Wisp. Taunt helps avoid this situation, although it's not very reliable. Taunt also isn't enough to prevent losing to common stall threats such as Mega Sableye, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Slowbro, as Mega Aggron has no reliable way of boosting its offenses outside of Curse. Its typing leaves it weak to Water-, Ground-, and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Primarina, Donphan, and Sawk.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Metal Burst is a very useful move for Mega Aggron's arsenal. Combined with Filter and Sturdy, it can take out threats such as Haxorus, Naganadel, Mega Lopunny, and Dragonite. Head Smash's high Base Power and Rock STAB combined with Sturdy can let Aggron take out both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Be wary, though, as its poor accuracy and heavy recoil might lead to losing some matches, especially against Mega Charizard X and Y. Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's most reliable STAB move. Its damage is based on its weight, which makes it have a consistently high Base Power, with Mega Aggron being one of the heaviest Pokemon in the metagame. It can easily defeat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Mega Altaria. Earthquake is a strong Ground-type coverage move that can super effectively hit most of the typings that resist Heavy Slam and Head Smash, making it a reliable choice to beat the likes of Aegislash and Mega Metagross. Taunt is a very useful move that can beat semi-stall Pokemon like Porygon2 and help Mega Aggron's matchup against fast sleep users such as Vivillon and Jumpluff.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP investment maximizes bulk and allows Mega Aggron to deal as much damage as possible with its Metal Burst. This spread also allows it to tank two hits from both Mega Charizard X and Choice Scarf Haxorus. Maximum Attack investment with a Brave nature gives it as much offensive power as possible in order to solidify matchups against Z-Reflect Tapu Lele, Will-O-Wisp Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Charizard X. 4 Defense EVs are leftovers that further augment its defensive capability. 0 Speed IVs allow Aggron to get outsped by the majority of the Pokemon in the metagame, letting it use Metal Burst successfully as often as possible against slow Pokemon such as Scrafty; it also helps by letting it move last against Aegislash and knock it out with Earthquake.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Aggron's massive physical bulk and strength make it a good choice against most physically offensive Pokemon, like Mega Tyranitar and Tapu Bulu, and against anything that Heavy Slam or Head Smash can reliably OHKO, such as Tapu Lele, Mega Diancie, Araquanid, and Mega Charizard X or Y. The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst makes it ideal to face Choice item users such as Kartana and Garchomp. Against Pokemon that might set up offensively like non-Taunt and non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados and Manaphy, you can use Taunt turn 1 to force them to attack and take a boosted attack through Metal Burst. When facing any of Charizard's Mega Evolutions, your best bet is to not Mega Evolve and retain Aggron's Rock typing, then hit them with a STAB Head Smash. Even if an opposing Mega Charizard X decides to use Will-O-Wisp, it will not be able to KO regular Aggron even after recoil damage, while Head Smash will certainly 2HKO. Against opposing Mega Lopunny, you can Mega Evolve after the Fake Out and use Metal Burst. If it hits Mega Aggron with High Jump Kick, Filter will prevent it from dying, while the reflected damage will most likely KO Mega Lopunny. If Metal Burst ends up not KOing, there is a good chance that Mega Aggron will take the following attack. If they decide to hit Mega Aggron with a weaker coverage move first, Metal Burst will put Mega Lopunny in Heavy Slam KO range, while Mega Aggron will still tank a High Jump Kick. When up against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Porygon2, neutralize them with Taunt as soon as possible, and then KO them with Heavy Slam or Metal Burst.

Team Options
========

Mega Aggron's lack of Special Defense can really put it at a disadvantage against Pokemon that can negate Sturdy before it can attack, such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise, so a specially bulky teammate like Mega Gardevoir or Togekiss would cover that weakness greatly. In exchange, Mega Aggron can provide an immunity to Poison-type attacks from Pokemon like Naganadel and Nihilego and good physical bulk to make up for its teammate's lack of it, which would otherwise lose to other Steel-types like Kartana. Pokemon like Greninja and Zeraora can make up for Mega Aggron's lack of Speed, dealing with Pokemon like Volcarona, while Mega Aggron compensates for their lack of bulk by beating strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Darmanitan and Haxorus. Mega Aggron is easily dealt with by very physically bulky Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, so strong special attackers like Porygon-Z and Tapu Lele pair perfectly with Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron beats Pokemon with massive Special Defense, such as Mega Gardevoir and Araquanid. Fake Out or Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Excadrill can deal with other Sturdy Pokemon like Golem, Magnezone, and Carracosta, which pose a threat to Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron can deal with strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Victini and Garchomp.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

Mega Aggron can make use of Avalanche, which combined with Aggron's low Speed can give it the upper hand against 4x Ice-weak Pokemon like Landorus-T, Zygarde, and uninvested Dragonite. Curse and Rest are a good combination of moves, since Mega Aggron isn't very concerned about the Speed drops and can use its boosted stats to very easily deal with threats like non-Taunt Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Metagross. Rest is also a reliable way to beat Jumpluff in a PP war, as Taunt would be replaced in case this move is used.

Checks and Counters
========

**Taunt Stallers**: Mega Aggron's low Speed prevents it from Taunting opposing Pokemon before they can make a move. Thus, Pokemon like Kee Berry Mew can Taunt Mega Aggron to prevent being affected by Taunt themselves, and then go on with the stall.

**Mold Breaker**: Mold Breaker can bypass Aggron's Sturdy and Filter, so Pokemon like Excadrill and Taunt Mega Gyarados can hit it without worrying about getting KOed by Metal Burst.

**Sturdy**: Sturdy Pokemon like Magnezone, Carracosta, Donphan, and Golem can comfortably 2HKO Mega Aggron while evading an OHKO thanks to their ability.

**Non-Choiced Bulky Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Magnet Rise Aegislash, Primarina, and Heatran can hit Aggron with a weak move to neutralize its Sturdy without getting KOed by Metal Burst and then KO it with a strong special move.

So first off we decided to slash on EQ over Taunt and Head Smash in order to increase the number of options the main sets have. Hitting opposing Aggron, Mega Metagross, and Aegislash is very important, and Taunt isn't as central to the metal burst strategy as it appears, as opponents can still choose to attack and often 2hko Aggron on turns it chooses to taunt. Head smash, on the other hand, is good stab when unmegased, but isnt essential against char x and isn't as essential or reliable when compared to Heavy Slam. So yeah.

Bolded is additions, strikethrough is stuff that should be removed, underline needs to be edited in some way, red is comments. All information I bring are based on 1630 Usage stats (considering anything at or above 6% as of April 2019 usage relevant) and Calcs.
[OVERVIEW]
  • Mega Aggron is one of the best physical walls in the 1v1 metagame, its amazing defensive stats allow it to take hits from a wide range of Pokemon, such as Dragonite, Mega Charizard X and Haxorus.
  • It can make use of its amazing abilities Sturdy and Filter to avoid getting KO'd, while hitting back hit what back? with powerful moves such as Heavy Slam, Head Smash and Metal Burst.
  • It's pitiful speed and special defense are what holds this Pokemon back from being an unbreakable wall, never mix the positives and negatives. Move this down to the bottom. but it makes up for it by using the combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst, which can allows Mega Aggron to neutralize special Choiced threats since several special threats can work around Metal Burst. such as Volcanion you can probably find a more relevant example, like Naganadel , Greninja and Genesect .
  • Its movepool gives it access to moves like Avalanche, to deal more easily with pokemon like Zygarde, Landorus-T and Garchomp; Curse, to set-up and beat Bulky Offense Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Mega Metagross, and Taunt to deal with speed traps like Vivillon and Jumpluff. this is on the main set, move it up, more important
  • mention earthquake
  • mention Head Smash
  • mention how Metal Burst can be played around with, and that many opponents will be prepared to face Metal Burst Aggron, although thats somewhat helped with Taunt
[SET]
name: Metal Burst also change the move order since Metal Burst is the most important move
move 1: Heavy Slam Metal Burst
move 2: Head Smash Heavy Slam
move 3: Metal Burst Taunt / Earthquake
move 4: Taunt Head Smash / Earthquake

Moves
========
  • Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's refer to the mon as Mega Aggron unless you're specifically talking about a quality of Aggron most reliable STAB move. It makes use of its massive weight to deal the most damage possible vague to newer players, say that its damage is based off Mega Aggron's weight compared to its opponent, which is great because its one of the heaviest Pokemon in the game, or something like that, and kill Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele and Clefable
  • Head Smash is a strong move that gives Rock-type coverage. It's high BP and STAB combined with non-mega Aggron's Sturdy can take out both Mega Charizard forms. Although its 80% accuracy and the 50% recoil damage makes it quite unreliable. If its unreliable, it shouldn't be on the main set. Maybe instead say to be wary of the relatively low accuracy and recoil, but not that its unreliable
  • Metal Burst is a very useful move for Mega Aggron's arsenal. Combined with Filter and Sturdy it can take out threats such as Haxorus, Naganadel, Mega Lopunny and Dragonite.
  • Taunt is a very useful move that can beat stall pokemon like Type: Null, help Mega aggron's matchup against speed traps such as Vivillon and Jumpluff, and stop Pokemon like Magearna from boosting their stats. Since Magearna is a 50/50, you may just want to bring this up in usage tips rather than as a main example of why u run Taunt
  • Add earthquake, rearrange move order to better fit this
  • move the order to reflect the new set move order

This IV choice solidifies matchups against specially offensive Pokemon like Kommo-o not rlly a good example, bc they run bulky/sub/live metal burst and can 2hko with soulblaze into flamethrower.
  • 0 Speed IVs allow Aggron to get outsped by the majority of the Pokemon in the meta, since Metal Burst only works if the user is slower than the opponent. When does this help?

Checks and Counters
========

**Taunt stallers**: Mega Aggron's low speed prevents it to Taunt opponents before they can make a move. As such, Pokemon like Mew and Whimsicott you body it with heavy slam can easily taunt it before it can taunt back, and then go on with the stall.

**Mold Breaker** : Mold Breaker can bypass Aggron's Sturdy and Filter, so Pokemon like Excadrill and Mega Gyarados you keep saying Mega Aggron wins can hit it without worrying about getting killed by Metal Burst.

**non-choiced Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Aegislash since you're running eq on main and Primarina can hit Aggron with a low damage move to neutralize its sturdy without getting killed by metal burst, and then kill it with a strong special move.

Lots of stuff. Tag me if you have any qs. Particularly I want to know if i'm confused about the lop matchup

but isnt essential against char x
what do you mean. You need it to reliably beat zardX, otherwise it can just flame charge you a couple times or set up with dragon dance. Also, you would have to guess if it's zardx or y in team preview, cause zardY just bodies you without it. Head Smash also reliably takes care of non-willowisp Victini, rotom-heat, volcanion and every other fire/ice/flying type in general.

Kommo-o not rlly a good example, bc they run bulky/sub/live metal burst and can 2hko with soulblaze into flamethrower.
while I searched for a long time for matchups that 0 SpD IVs mAggron reliably helps beat, I couldn't find anything reliable enough to mention in an analysis. It is generally good against most things but not a game-changer. Kommo-o is the only matchup where (given the most common spread) aggron can metal burst back the z move and kommo-o doesnt survive. If you want I can look up more matchups, but I'd end up mentioning much less relevant matchups. Or I can remove the IV choice entirely, but that wouldn't be optimal for the set. let me know

Mention what to do if you don't run Head Smash
Again, there really isnt a reliable course of action to deal with zardX if you dont run head smash. They survive a metal bursted +1 flare blitz, so taunting t1 is not the play. if you metal burst t1, they can set up after that and take you out, since heavy slam doesnt kill them. So you basically cant reliably take them out without head smash, even assuming they don't run will o, flame charge, swords dance and other shit. That's why Head Smash is to me a very important move, since it allows you to reliably beat both zards, while eq is dealt with by magnet rise, air balloon and hammer arm metagross.

Uhhhhh Mega Lopunny 2hkoes Mega Aggron a great amount of the time and avoid being knocked out by Metal Burst most of the time just by using High Jump Kick twice after fake out.
I have gotten this matchup a great deal of times and 90% of the time I win it, so I thought this would be the case. Doing the calcs it appears that 1 out of 4 times mLopunny gets a damage roll that is too high and ends up dying to the metal burst. If it gets low enough rolls then it doesnt 2hko and it gets into heavy slam range. If it decides to go for a weaker move first it just dies. Lopunny has to get a low enough roll the first time around, then a high enough roll during the second hit. Imho this matchup is about 60/70% in aggron's favor, but unreliable nonetheless.

Landorus-T, Zygarde and uninvested Dragonite, who are all x4 weak to Ice.
Uh, doesn't taunt burst do this well enough?
No, it doesnt. Lando-T and Zygarde can both just sub, and landot usually also carries stuff like rock tomb. Special dnite can just espeed and then kill, while physical you have to guess. If they use espeed into eq you can heavy slam into head smash and win, while if they eq t1 you have to metal burst. It's not a reliable matchup at all.

you keep saying Mega Aggron wins
that is a thing I have to work out. It does win if they dd t1 and you taunt, but if they taunt you, you lose. Idk how it works out if they eq t1, or just dont run eq. Curse+rest is the only way to beat it reliably

but don't u win with taunt?
I'm taking for granted that if you use Curse+Rest you're gonna change taunt and head smash, since those are the most replaceable move.

Since Magearna is a 50/50, you may just want to bring this up in usage tips rather than as a main example of why u run Taunt
I mean, true, but its hard to find some kind of reliable example. 99% of matchups of this type become 50/50s. I'd either have to list something from like, C tier, or just remove it completely.

How about Toxic? seems potentially useful
no

you body it with heavy slam
252+ Atk Aggron-Mega Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 44+ Def Babiri Berry Whimsicott: 226-267 (69.7 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
it does become a 50/50, so I wouldn't know if to include it or not

I'll be doing my own qc later but just a couple points I thought I might point out:
Aggron's low speed can give it the upper hand against Pokemon
Avalanche has negative priority so speed is irrelevant. believe i know, i tried running scarf rampardos with avalanche as a garchomp check only to realise that i was still slower.
On that note, add garchomp to the list of things that avalanche beats.

it does become a 50/50, so I wouldn't know if to include it or not
generally don't include 50/50s unless its an important matchup (eg vs high priority mons)

You right, youd need to re ev to allow this. This set may be better instead:

move 1: Heavy Slam Metal Burst
move 2: Head Smash Head Smash
move 3: Metal Burst Heavy Slam / Earthquake
move 4: Taunt Taunt / Earthquake

So, I'm saying this bc Heavy Slam can be replaced with EQ to beat some of the fairies, coupled with Metal Burst (mgard, clef, maybe lele), alongside the aforementioned megagross and aegislash

would obviously require your moves to be reordered in favor of the new move order
Kommo-o not rlly a good example, bc they run bulky/sub/live metal burst and can 2hko with soulblaze into flamethrower.

Metal Bursting back the z move won't kill. Def can speak from experience. Its fine to mention mons below B rank.

ye. refer to the other edit, head smash stays

Uhhhhh Mega Lopunny 2hkoes Mega Aggron a great amount of the time and avoid being knocked out by Metal Burst most of the time just by using High Jump Kick twice after fake out.

ye. not saying the mu is impossible, but there are more reliable examples.

No, it doesnt. Lando-T and Zygarde can both just sub, and landot usually also carries stuff like rock tomb. Special dnite can just espeed and then kill, while physical you have to guess. fair. Points fine then.

you keep saying Mega Aggron wins

that is a thing I have to work out. It does win if they dd t1 and you taunt, but if they taunt you, you lose. Idk how it works out if they eq t1, or just dont run eq. Curse+rest is the only way to beat it reliably
so just say maggron beats non taunt and non eq mega gyarados. Eq mgyara will 3hko on any run spread, leaving it down to several 50/50s of ddance or eq, taunt wins easily.

but don't u win with taunt?

I'm taking for granted that if you use Curse+Rest you're gonna change taunt and head smash, since those are the most replaceable move.
Then mention that Rest lets you beat pluff even without Taunt.

you body it with heavy slam

it does become a 50/50, so I wouldn't know if to include it or not
Then specify that you beat non-babiri Whimsicott, with is about 75% of whimsi

Alakazam it's done. I decided to simply remove the 0 spdef IVs since it wasn't game-changing against any matchup and leaving it in without further examples or explanation would've been simply confusing.
There are overall some weird example choices, but when faced with a mon like Mega Aggron it's very fucking hard to find reliable examples.
If you wanna take a quick third look

stableprince569 you forgot to remove some of my edits, I'll point them out with strikethrough here

-[SET]
name: Metal Burst also change the move order since Metal Burst is the most important move
move 1: Metal Burst
move 2: Head Smash
move 3: Heavy Slam / Earthquake

-Also add Aegislash and Mega Metagross for Earthquake examples, thats literally the reason you run the move

-and stop Pokemon like Xurkitree from boosting their stats.

(so if theres really no stat booster that Mega Aggron uses Taunt for you can remove this point. Idt xurkitree works bc it can outplay simply by going first.)

-252 HP maximizes bulk and allows Mega Aggron to deal as much damage as possible with its Metal Burst. mention hits you also bulk due to max HP
(in set details)

-most phyisically offensive Pokemon such as?,
(in usage tips, also give an example)

-can reliably OHKO. such as?
(in usage tips, also give example)

-face Choice item users. such as?

So yeah, add that then qc 1/3

  • Mega Aggron is one of the best physical walls in the 1v1 metagame, its amazing defensive stats allow it to take hits from a wide range of Pokemon physical attackers, such as Dragonite, Mega Charizard X and Haxorus.
  • It can make use of its amazing abilities Sturdy and Filter to avoid getting KO'd, while hitting back with powerful moves such as Heavy Slam, Head Smash and Metal Burst.
  • The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst allows Mega Aggron to neutralize Choiced threats such as Naganadel, Greninja and Genesect.
  • Heavy Slam is its most reliable offensive move. It uses Mega Aggron's high weight to kill Fairy-, Rock- and Ice- type Pokemon such as Togekiss and Mega Diancie
  • Head Smash its strongest move. This 150 BP STAB (when in non-mega form) move allows it to deal with Bug-, Fire-, Flying- and Ice- type threats, such as Mega Charizard Y and Talonflame.
  • Earthquake is a strong coverage move that can give it a better matchup against Pokemon like Aegislash, Heatran and Mega Metagross.
  • Its movepool gives it access to moves like Avalanche, to deal more easily with pokemon like Zygarde, Landorus-T and Garchomp; Curse, to set-up and beat Bulky Offense Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Mega Metagross
  • Taunt is a good utility move, that allows Mega Aggron to deal better with setuppers who are trying to play around its Metal Burst, like Manaphy, Stall Pokemon, like Type:Null, and speed traps such as Jumpluff and Smeargle. This ain't the move details part bud, this is the overview, you gotta shorten and group these moves to certain parts. Aggron's stab moves (Heavy Slam and Head Smash), coverage moves (EQ and Avalanche), and utility moves (Taunt and Curse).
  • Mega Aggron's major flaw is its low Special Defense. The need for higher HP and offensive power to beat threats such as Mega Charizard X makes it very vulnerable to specially offensive Pokemon that can play around Sturdy.
  • Metal Burst is a move that can be played around with, by either hitting with a less damaging move in the first turns or deciding to use set-up moves. Taunt helps avoid this situation, although it's not very reliable.

Moves
========
  • Metal Burst is a very useful move for Mega Aggron's arsenal. Combined with Filter and Sturdy it can take out threats such as Haxorus, Naganadel, Mega Lopunny and physical Dragonite.
  • Head Smash is a strong move that gives Rock-type coverage. It's high BP and STAB combined with base Aggron's Sturdy and Rock-typing can take out both Mega Charizard forms. Be wary, though, of its 80% accuracy and 50% recoil, as it might lead to losing some matches.
  • Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's refer to the mon as Mega Aggron unless you're specifically talking about a quality of Aggron most reliable STAB move What?. Its damage is based off of its weight, which makes it have a consistently high BP, being Mega Aggron one of the heaviest Pokemon in the metagame. It can easily kill Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele and Clefable.
  • Earthquake is a strong Ground-Type coverage in Mega Aggron's arsenal. It can hit super-effectively most of the typings that resist Heavy Slam and Head Smash, making it a reliable choice to beat Aegislash, Mega Metagross and others.
  • Taunt is a very useful move that can beat stall pokemon like Type: Null Can't beat Null, add pokemon like Magearna where they're forced in a position to only attack after taunt, and help Mega aggron's matchup against speed traps such as Vivillon and Jumpluff.
Set Details
========
  • 252 HP maximizes bulk and allows Mega Aggron to deal as much damage as possible with its Metal Burst. This spread also allows you to tank two hits from both Choice Scarf Excadrill and Choice Band Haxorus.
  • 252 Attack with Brave nature gives it as much offensive power as possible, to solidify matchups against Z-Reflect Tapu Lele, Will-O-Wisp Mega Gardevoir and Charizard Mega X.
  • 4 Defense EVs are leftovers that further augment its defensive capability.
  • 0 Speed IVs allow Aggron to get outsped by the majority of the Pokemon in the meta, since Metal Burst only works if the user is slower than the opponent. This helps against slow Pokemon such as Scrafty, Incineroar and Primarina.
Usage Tips
========
  • Mega Aggron's massive physical bulk and strength make it a good choice against most phyisically offensive Pokemon, like Mega Tyranitar and Tapu Bulu, and against anything that Heavy Slam or Head Smash can reliably OHKO, such as Tapu Lele, Araquanid or Mega Diancie.
  • It's amazing combo of Sturdy + Metal Burst make it ideal to face Choice item users, such as Kartana and Garchomp.
  • Against Pokemon who might set up offensively like non-Taunt and non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados add more examples here, Taunt+Metal Burst beats other mons too, you can Taunt them turn 1 to force them to attack and metal burst a boosted attack that will most likely not ohko.
  • When facing any of Charizard's mega forms, your best bet is not to Mega Evolve and retain your Rock-typing and hit them with a STAB Head Smash. Even if an opposing Mega Charizard X decides to use Will-O-Wisp, they will not be able to kill you even after recoil damage, while you will certainly 2hko, so you can non-mega Head Smash once more to kill them.
  • Against opposing Mega Lopunny, you can Mega Evolve after the Fake Out and use Metal Burst. If they hit you with the High Jump Kick your Filter ability will prevent you from dying, while the reflected damage will most likely kill them.If your metal burst ends up not killing them, there is a good chance that you will live the following attack. If they decide to hit with a weaker coverage move first, your Metal Burst will put them in Heavy Slam kill range, while you will still tank a HJK.
  • Against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Type: Null use a different example, neutralize them with Taunt as soon as possible, and then kill them with Heavy Slam.
Team Options
========
  • Mega Aggron's lack of Special Defense can really put him at a disadvantage against pokemon that can get rid of his ability before attacking, such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise, so a teammate like Mega Gardevoir or Togekiss would cover that weakness greatly. In exchange, Mega Aggron can provide immunity to Poison types like Naganadel and Nihilego, and good Physical Bulk to make up for lack of it in its teammate, who would otherwise lose to other steel types like Kartana.
  • Pokemon like Greninja and Zeraora can make up for its lack of speed, dealing with Pokemon like Volcarona, while Mega Aggron compensates their lack of defenses Beating strong Scarf Pokemon such as Darmanitan and Haxorus.
  • Mega Aggron is easily dealt with by very physically bulky Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, so teammates like Porygon-Z or Tapu Lele who can use very strong special attacks match up perfectly with Mega Aggron. In exchange Mega Aggron beats Pokemon with massive Special Defense, such as Chansey and Araquanid.
  • Fake Out or Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Excadrill I think changing Excadrill into Mega Gyarados would be better, can deal with other Sturdy Pokemon, like Donphan and Carracosta, who might pose a threat to Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron can deal with strong Scarf Pokemon such as Victini and Garchomp. Mega Gyarados already beats these mons
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
  • Mega Aggron can make use of the move Avalanche, an Ice-type move that does double the damage if the user moves last. This combined with Aggron's low speed can give it the upper hand against Pokemon like Landorus-T, Zygarde and uninvested Dragonite, who are all x4 weak to Ice.
  • Curse and Rest are a good combination of moves, since Mega Aggron isn't very affected about the speed drops, and can use its boosted stats to very easily deal with threats like non-Taunt Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar and Mega Metagross. Rest is also a reliable way to beat Jumpluff in a PP war, as Taunt would be replaced in case this move is used.
Checks and Counters
========

**Taunt stallers**: Mega Aggron's low speed prevents it to Taunt opponents before they can make a move. As such, Pokemon like Mew and Babiri Berry Whimsicott, and then go on with the stall.

**Mold Breaker** : Mold Breaker can bypass Aggron's Sturdy and Filter, so Pokemon like Excadrill and Taunt Mega Gyarados can hit it without worrying about getting killed by Metal Burst.

**Sturdy**: Pokemon like Magnezone, Carracosta, Donphan and Golem can comfortably 2hko Mega Aggron, while evading a OHKO thanks to their ability.

**Non-choiced Bulky Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Magnet Rise Aegislash and Primarina can hit Aggron with a low damage move to neutralize its sturdy without getting killed by metal burst, and then kill it with a strong special move.

couple of comments on the QC

physical attackers
over clarification seems unnecessary

you do easily beat special dragonite like 99% of the time

add more examples here, Taunt+Metal Burst beats other mons too
not reliably enough, I searched for a long time and most matchups are either a 50/50 or against an unset that isn't run on ladder. Magearna was as close as I could get but me and TDA agreed to remove it since it was way too shaky to fit in an analysis

add pokemon like Magearna where they're forced in a position to only attack after taunt
read above. If I'm not mistaken Magearna can win with a series of intricated moves but I'm not sure. Anyway, too shaky to fit in an analysis

Non-choiced Bulky Special Attackers
blacephalon is as frail as it gets and yet 252+ Atk Aggron-Mega Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Blacephalon: 189-222 (76.5 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO so I don't think that specification is necessary

I think changing Excadrill into Mega Gyarados would be better
I could, but then finding something that beats both mGyara and mLop and loses to mAggron would be kinda hard. I just now notice that excadrill doesnt actually beat donphan but I can switch that with golem or magnezone. Also I'd like to give a better variety of choices rather than suggesting to slap an S tier mon as a teammate in every analysis

I do agree on the parts about the moves being too detailed in the intro and mAggron losing to Type Null, those are my bad

Why are you not Head Smashing? Anyways, give non-bulky non-choiced special attackers as examples as well.
Agree with other parts. Tag me if you implement the stuff, I'll give it a read before giving a stamp :>

Tag me if you implement the stuff
Okay, I'm done. I decided to actually add the "bulky" to the counters part since most specially offensive Pokemon on the VR straight up die to Head Smash. Let me know if it's all good so I can remove the bullet points

The only things that really beat it are faster Pokemon) . Mega Aggron's major flaw is its low Special Defense. Taunt helps avoid this situation, although it's not very reliable. The only reason I can see Mega aggron being slower being useful is to underspeed Aegislash for Earthquake. If you can find better examples for min Spe, in terms of Metal Burst, by all means add them here, but the only base 50s that are relevant in 1v1 are: Donphan, Mawile, Registeel, all of which Metal Burst is basically useless against, unless you want to mention that Metal Burst vs Mega Mawile.

Mega Aggron is easily dealt with by very physically bulky Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, so teammates like Porygon-Z or Tapu Lele who can use very strong special attacks match up perfectly with Mega Aggron. In exchange Mega Aggron beats Pokemon with massive Special Defense, such as Mega Gardevoir Chansey (Chansey should be able to win with Charm and Seismic Toss, especially if you are running Slow Aggron, which cannot Taunt Chansey first) and Araquanid. Fake Out or Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Lopunny (Lopunny still loses to Donphan so I wouldn't highly recommend this. Maybe Primarina or Mega Gyarados would be a better suggestion) and Excadrill can deal with other Sturdy Pokemon, like Golem, Magnezone and Carracosta, who might pose a threat to Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron can deal with strong Scarf Pokemon such as Victini and Garchomp.

Other Options
========

Mega Aggron can make use of the move Avalanche, an Ice-type move that does double the damage if the user moves last. This combined with Aggron's low speed can give it the upper hand against Pokemon like Landorus-T, Zygarde and uninvested Dragonite, who are all x4 weak to Ice. Curse and Rest are a good combination of moves, since Mega Aggron isn't very affected about the speed drops, and can use its boosted stats to very easily deal with threats like non-Taunt Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar and Mega Metagross. (One issue i have with curse rest is that it doesnt really offer much outside of beating non taunt gyara. it already does decently vs ttar and metagross. Try and give better examples of things the Curse Rest set does better than the normal one does.) Rest is also a reliable way to beat Jumpluff in a PP war, as Taunt would be replaced in case this move is used.

Checks and Counters
========

**Non-choiced Bulky Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Magnet Rise Aegislash, (Not that relevant) Primarina, Heatran can hit Aggron with a low damage move to neutralize its sturdy without getting killed by metal burst, and then kill it with a strong special move.

implemented
couple of things I wanna mention:
its low special defense is a major flaw even with metal burst, since most special attackers can easily play around sturdy.
I kept magnet rise aegislash in since it's used enough and I am emotionally attached to the set
I decided to keep Curse Rest in, since finding other general examples is hard, and beating Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar and Mega Metagross semi reliably is quite a big deal.
I kept Mega Lopunny in as team option, since Excadrill doesnt beat donphan either, and I wanted to give other options than Mega Gyarados (which pairs up very well with any fucking Pokemon)

let me know

I wanted to mention this earlier, and this is more of a GP thing but try to refrain from saying 'kill' and replace it with something else like defeats or OHKOs.

[Moves]
It can easily kill Pokemon such as Mega Altaria, Tapu Lele, Clefable and Mega Altaria.
You had Mega Altaria there twice.

Otherwise, well done. Your points are fairly valid and that's the reason I left them as just underlined and not strike through. Sidenote: Excadrill does beat Donphan with Magnet Rise.

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Aggron is one of the best physical walls in the 1v1 metagame, its with amazing defensive stats that allow it to take hits from a wide range of Pokemon, such as Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, (AC) and Haxorus. It can make use of its amazing abilities Sturdy and Filter to avoid getting KO'd, KOed while hitting back with powerful moves such as Heavy Slam, Head Smash, (AC) and Metal Burst. The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst allows Mega Aggron to neutralize Choiced threats Choice item users such as Naganadel, Greninja, (AC) and Genesect, (comma) while the combined typing and high Base Power of Heavy Slam and Head Smash are its best STAB moves. Their combined typing and high base power let it deal with a plethora of different Pokemon, such as Mega Diancie, Togekiss, Victini, (AC) and Mega Charizard Y. Earthquake and Avalanche are strong coverage moves that can give it a better matchup against Pokemon like Aegislash, Heatran Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, Zygarde and Garchomp. Mega Aggron has also access to Taunt, which allows it to beat Pokemon who that want to play around Metal Burst, like Manaphy, and can deal with shut down certain speed traps fast sleep users (or w/e else more descriptive) such as Jumpluff and Vivillon. Mega Aggron's major flaw is its low Special Defense. The need for higher HP and offensive power to beat threats such as Mega Charizard X makes it very vulnerable to specially offensive Pokemon that can play around Sturdy. Metal Burst is a move that can also be played around with, by either hitting it with a less damaging move in the first turns or deciding to use using status moves, such as Substitute and Will-O-Wisp. Taunt helps avoid this situation, although it's not very reliable. Despite having Taunt (RC) it still loses also isn't enough to prevent losing to common stall threats such as Mega Sableye, Mega Venusaur, (AC) and Mega Slowbro, as it Mega Aggron has no reliable way of boosting its offenses outside of Curse. Its typing leaves it weak to Water-, Ground-, (AC) and Fighting-type (RH) Pokemon, such as Primarina, Donphan, (AC) and Sawk.

Moves
========

Metal Burst is a very useful move for Mega Aggron's arsenal. Combined with Filter and Sturdy, (AC) it can take out threats such as Haxorus, Naganadel, Mega Lopunny, (AC) and Dragonite. Head Smash's is a strong move that gives Rock-type coverage. It's high BP and Rock STAB combined with Aggron's Sturdy can let Aggron take out both Mega Charizard formes. Be wary, though, of as its 80% poor accuracy and 50% heavily recoil, as it might lead to losing some matches, especially against Mega Charizard X and Y. Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's most reliable STAB move. Its damage is based off of its weight, which makes it have a consistently high BP, being with Mega Aggron being one of the heaviest Pokemon in the metagame. It can easily defeat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Clefable and Mega Altaria. Earthquake is a strong Ground-type coverage in Mega Aggron's arsenal. It move that can hit super effectively (RH) hit most of the typings that resist Heavy Slam and Head Smash, making it a reliable choice to beat the likes of Aegislash (RC) and Mega Metagross and others. Taunt is a very useful move that can beat semi-stall pokemon like Porygon2 and help Mega Aggron's matchup against speed traps fast sleep users such as Vivillon and Jumpluff.

Set Details
========

252 HP maximizes EVs maximize bulk and allows allow Mega Aggron to deal as much damage as possible with its Metal Burst. This spread also allows you it to tank two hits from both Mega Charizard X and Choice Scarf Haxorus. 252 Attack EVs with a Brave nature gives give it as much offensive power as possible, to solidify matchups against Z-Reflect Tapu Lele, Will-O-Wisp Mega Gardevoir, (AC) and Mega Charizard Mega X. 4 Defense EVs are leftovers that further augment its defensive capability. (no point if they don't do anything concrete) 0 Speed IVs allow Aggron to get outsped by the majority of the Pokemon in the metagame, since letting it use Metal Burst only works if the user is slower than the opponent successfully as often as possible against. This helps against slow Pokemon such as Scrafty; (SC) and it also helps by moving letting it move last against Aegislash and knocking it out with Earthquake.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Aggron's massive physical bulk and strength make it a good choice against most phyisically offensive Pokemon, like Mega Tyranitar and Tapu Bulu, and against anything that Heavy Slam or Head Smash can reliably OHKO, such as Tapu Lele, Mega Diancie, Araquanid, (AC) and Mega Charizard X or Y. Its amazing combo The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst make makes it ideal to face Choice item users, such as Kartana and Garchomp. Against Pokemon who that might set up offensively like non-Taunt and non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados and Manaphy, you can use Taunt them turn 1 to force them to attack and metal burst take a boosted attack through Metal Burst. When facing any of Charizard's mega forms Mega Evolutions, your best bet is not to Mega Evolve and retain your Aggron's Rock typing, then hit them with a STAB Head Smash. Even if an opposing Mega Charizard X decides to use Will-O-Wisp, they it will not be able to kill you KO regular Aggron even after recoil damage, since you take neutral damage from Fire-type attacks, while you while Head Smash will certainly 2hko, 2HKO so you can non-mega Head Smash once more to kill them. Against opposing Mega Lopunny, you can Mega Evolve after the Fake Out and use Metal Burst. If they hit you Mega Aggron with the High Jump Kick, (AC) your Filter ability will prevent you it from dying, while the reflected damage will most likely kill them KO Mega Lopunny. If your Metal Burst ends up not killing them KOing, there is a good chance that you Mega Aggron will live take the following attack. If they decide to hit Mega Aggron with a weaker coverage move first, your Metal Burst will put them Mega Lopunny in Heavy Slam kill KO range, while you Mega Aggron will still tank a HJK High Jump Kick. When up against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Porygon2, neutralize them with Taunt as soon as possible, and then kill KO them with Heavy Slam or Metal Burst.

Team Options
========

Mega Aggron's lack of Special Defense can really put him it at a disadvantage against Pokemon that can get rid of his ability negate Sturdy before attacking it can attack, such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise, so a specially bulky teammate like Mega Gardevoir or Togekiss would cover that weakness greatly. In exchange, Mega Aggron can provide an immunity to Poison-type attacks (AH) from Pokemon like Naganadel and Nihilego (RC) and good physical bulk to make up for lack of it in its teammate's lack of it, who which would otherwise lose to other Steel-types (AH) like Kartana. Pokemon like Greninja and Zeraora can make up for its Mega Aggron's lack of speed, dealing with Pokemon like Volcarona, while Mega Aggron compensates for their lack of defenses bulk by beating strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Darmanitan and Haxorus. Mega Aggron is easily dealt with by very physically bulky Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, so teammates strong special attackers like Porygon-Z or and Tapu Lele who can use very strong special attacks match up pair perfectly with Mega Aggron. In exchange, (AC) Mega Aggron beats Pokemon with massive Special Defense, such as Mega Gardevoir and Araquanid. Fake Out or Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Excadrill can deal with other Sturdy Pokemon, like Golem, Magnezone and Carracosta, who which pose a threat to Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron can deal with strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Victini and Garchomp.

Mega Aggron can make use of the move Avalanche, an Ice-type move that does double the damage if the user moves last. This which combined with Aggron's low Speed can give it the upper hand against 4x Ice-weak Pokemon like Landorus-T, Zygarde, (AC) and uninvested Dragonite, who are all x4 weak to Ice. Curse and Rest are a good combination of moves, since Mega Aggron isn't very affected concerned about the Speed drops (RC) and can use its boosted stats to very easily deal with threats like non-Taunt Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, (AC) and Mega Metagross. Rest is also a reliable way to beat Jumpluff in a PP war, as Taunt would be replaced in case this move is used.

Checks and Counters
========

**Taunt Stallers**: Mega Aggron's low Speed prevents it to Taunt opponents from Taunting opposing Pokemon before they can make a move. As such, Thus, Pokemon like Mew and Babiri Berry Whimsicott (can do what?), and then go on with the stall.

**Mold Breaker** : Mold Breaker can bypass Aggron's Sturdy and Filter, so Pokemon like Excadrill and Taunt Mega Gyarados can hit it without worrying about getting killed KOed by Metal Burst.

**Sturdy**: Sturdy Pokemon like Magnezone, Carracosta, Donphan, (AC) and Golem can comfortably 2hko 2HKO Mega Aggron (RC) while evading a OHKO thanks to their ability.

**Non-Choiced Bulky Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Magnet Rise Aegislash, Primarina, (AC) and Heatran can hit Aggron with a low damage weak move to neutralize its Sturdy without getting killed KOed by Metal Burst (RC) and then kill KO it with a strong special move.
