1v1 Mega Lucario ( DONE )

[OVERVIEW]

With impressive offensive stats coupled with a compelling ability in Adaptability and a splendid movepool, Mega Lucario is a hard-hitter in the 1v1 metagame. Mega Lucario's high Speed lets it outspeed and KO top-tier threats like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, and Heatran, while its resistance to Normal-type attacks allows it to be a great counter to Porygon Z and Meloetta. In addition to this, its Steel typing provides a immunity to poison that gives it the upper hand against Mega Venusaur. Mega Lucario also is equipped with utility moves like Magnet Rise, which lets it defeat common Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, Donphan, and non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, and its pre-Mega evolution ability Inner Focus allows it to defeat Jirachi most of the time. Sadly, its typing also makes it weak to common offensive types including Fire and Fighting, which leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon like non-Choice Band Victini, Sawk, and Mega Charizard X, as well as the unique Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, which bypasses Magnet Rise. Mega Lucario also struggles to fit everything it wants on one set, leaving it vulnerable to common threats if it does not run the correct coverage move. Moreover, its subpar bulk doesn't help in taking other powerful attacks like Hydro Cannon from Greninja and Psycho Boost from Deoxys-S. Its physical sets get completely walled by Aegislash, while bulky Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Dragonite are able to take hits from it and retaliate with their moves. Due to these factors, it faces tough competition from other Fighting- or Steel-type Pokemon like Magearna, Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o.

Moves

Repeated usage of Substitute reduces Mega Lucario's HP and increases Reversal's power. At the same time, it safeguards Mega Lucario from Counter, Metal Burst, and status moves like Pain Split from Magearna and Leech Seed from stall Celesteela. Reversal is its main damaging move, reaching 200 Base Power on low health and, with the Adaptability boost, allowing it to KO the likes of Garchomp, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela. Meteor Mash is used to KO Fairy-type Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Bulu, non-Choice Scarf Togekiss, and Clefable. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to beat Magearna in conjunction with Substitute and even break through walls that resist Reversal, as well as take out bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron. Magnet Rise is used to allow Mega Lucario to defeat Pokemon that carry super effective Ground-type moves such as non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Donphan, and Golem. Rock Tomb
lets Mega Lucario outspeed Pokemon with Speed-boosting setup moves like Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X and Shell Smash + Earthquake Crustle, but it means it loses out against Blacephalon and bulkier variants of Mega Charizard Y.

Set Details
========

240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Mega Lucario outspeed base 110s such as Archeops, as well as Mega Charizard X and Y, non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant. 28 Special Defense EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest maximum Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The remaining 240 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible. Inner Focus as the pre-Mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching, which lets it defeat Jirachi most of the time. Adaptability boosts Reversal's power after factoring in the STAB boost, making it a 400-Base Power move after four uses of Substitute.

Usage Tips
========

It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Celesteela. Try to avoid matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash and Mega Sableye and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro or Primarina, as they would usually defeat it. Against Tapunium Z Tapu Fini, use Meteor Mash first. If they use Guardian of Alola, use Substitute before unleashing a devastating 200-BP Reversal. Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance to boost their Speed, use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down, and then use Substitute until Mega Lucario reaches the lowest amount of HP it can have. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use whichever move is most beneficial at that time. Against Ground-type Pokemon like Donphan and Golem, use Magnet Rise so as to not let their STAB moves KO Mega Lucario, before using Substitute to avoid a potential Counter. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on subsequent turns. When matched up against Jirachi, the best play is to start with Rock Tomb without Mega Evolving in order to outpace it. Mega Evolve on the next turn, and use Substitute to get Mega Lucario within range of high Base Power Reversal, which will let you win most of the time. Against stall Pokemon, use Swords Dance if Mega Lucario is faster; else, use Rock Tomb in order to avoid being Taunted by Pokemon such as Deoxys-S before boosting Mega Lucario's Attack.

Team Options
========

Choice Scarf Porygon-Z can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, and Naganadel, and as well as physically bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Mega Aggron for Porygon-Z, as well as Magearna if running Swords Dance and Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise. Bulky Mega Charizard Y appreciates Mega Lucario's ability to take on non-Taunt Heatran, Donphan, and Golem. Mega Charizard Y can help it by checking non Choice-Scarf Landorus-T, Calm Mind Mega Slowbro, Greninja, Tapu Fini, and Mega Mawile, which usually defeat Mega Lucario. This Mega Lucario set doesn't have any powerful move to hit Ghost-type Pokemon, so it requires teammates that can deal with them. Taunt Mega Gyarados can take on most of the Ghost-types including Aegislash and Mega Sableye. In addition, it also defeats Dragonite, Choice Scarf Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Victini, which defeat Mega Lucario. At the same time, Mega Lucario defeats Magearna, bulky Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, and Kartana, which are common Mega Gyarados checks.

Moves
========

High Jump Kick OHKOes Porygon-Z, Mega Aggron, and Meloetta most of the time. Meteor Mash lets Mega Lucario take on Psychium Z Tapu Lele and Mega Gardevoir. It also has a 20% chance to raise Mega Lucario's Attack stat by 1 stage, which can be helpful against Waterium Z Tapu Fini; however, this is naturally unreliable and should only be used as a last-resort tactic. Rock Tomb can be used to lower the Speed of stall Deoxys-S and Crustle while also OHKOing fast Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Mega Pinsir. Magnet Rise helps Mega Lucario in defeating Ground-type Pokemon like non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Groundium Z Landorus-T, Golem, and Donphan. Swords Dance allows Mega Lucario to break through bulky walls like Mega Venusaur and stall Mew, as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron.

Set Details
========

240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Mega Lucario outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, Mega Diancie, and Durant. 28 Special Defense EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest maximum Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The remaining 240 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna and Meloetta. Inner Focus as the pre-Mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching, which lets it defeat Jirachi.

Usage Tips
========

Send Mega Lucario out against Pokemon that it can immediately KO like Heatran, Porygon-Z, and Tapu Lele. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also use Rock Tomb against Crustle and stall Deoxys-S to outspeed them, after which Mega Lucario can finish off the latter with Meteor Mash or boost its offenses with Swords Dance against the former. When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb without Mega Evolving to avoid flinching and allow Lucario to outspeed it. Mega Evolve on the next turn and follow up with High Jump Kick to have the best possible chance to win. Use Magnet Rise when up against Pokemon like Donphan and Golem to avoid getting KOed by them. Even after using Magnet Rise, be wary of a potential Counter, so use Rock Tomb to break their Sturdy. Avoid sending Mega Lucario out against faster attackers like Greninja, Naganadel, and Pheromosa.

Team Options
========

Primarina is a good teammate for Mega Lucario, checking Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, and Genesect while Mega Lucario checks Mega Charizard Y, Porygon Z, Tapu Lele, and Mega Gardevoir. Since fast Pokemon like Zeraora, Pheromosa, and Mega Lopunny counter Mega Lucario, Flame Charge Mega Charizard X or Mega Blaziken can be used. In turn, Mega Lucario can beat Heatran, Meloetta, and Tapu Lele for them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Close Combat and Rock Slide can be considered as alternatives to High Jump Kick and Rock Tomb, respectively. Close Combat trades raw power for accuracy, which leaves it unable to secure some matchups that High Jump Kick wins like against bulky Incineroar; Rock Slide, while beating bulky Mega Charizard Y and providing a chance to flinch, does not lower Speed, which means Mega Lucario cannot beat Pokemon like Crustle and stall Deoxys-S. A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute can be utilized to check counters to Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Mawile and Mega Scizor. However, the subpar accuracy of Focus Blast and Lucario's general lack of reliable, strong special STAB moves makes Mega Lucario struggle significantly against many Pokemon like bulky Mega Gardevoir, and so it is generally outclassed by its physical sets. Bulk Up can be used to take care of Pokemon like non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados and non-Hammer Arm Mega Metagross, but since Mega Lucario is frail, it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making this move inferior to Swords Dance. Screech can also be used as an alternative to Swords Dance for Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire and Pyukumuku, against which Swords Dance does nothing. However, its accuracy is an issue, since this can cause Mega Lucario to lose key matchups against Iron Defense users like Magearna and stall Deoxys-S, against which Swords Dance is better. Ice Punch can be considered for foes like Garchomp and Jumpluff. A set of 252 Atk / 96 SpD / 160 Spe with a Jolly nature can be utilized so that Mega Lucario can tank Choice Scarf Genesect Flamethrower and OHKO back with High Jump Kick. While means that it will underspeed Pokemon like Kartana and Durant, it still outspeeds base 100 Speed Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir and Volcarona.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Pokemon**: Defensive Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Zygarde-C can take multiple hits from Mega Lucario with ease and either outstall it or KO it with their own moves. Bulky offensive Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Heracross, Aegislash, and Dragonite can take any attack from Mega Lucario and KO back with their own moves.

**Powerful Fast Attackers**: Naganadel, Greninja, Mega Lopunny, and Choice Scarf users like Garchomp and Victini outspeed Mega Lucario and are able to OHKO it with their powerful attacks before Mega Lucario gets a chance to retaliate.

**Water-types**: Most of the Water-type Pokemon in the tier like Greninja, Mega Gyarados, Primarina, and Tapu Fini defeat Mega Lucario, (AC) as they either outspeed (RC) it or can tank a hit and KO it.

**Flame Charge Mega Charizard X**: Mega Lucario loses to Mega Charizard X if it has Flame Charge in its moveset.

**Select Sturdy Pokemon**: Magnezone and Sawk can take one hit from Mega Lucario and OHKO back with their STAB moves. Golem with Fire Punch and Donphan with Superpower, though rare, can also take out the SubReversal Mega Lucario set despite it having Magnet Rise.

- Mega Lucario's high Speed lets it outspeed top tier threats like both Mega Charizard formes, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, and Durant, which allows it to fire off its powerful attacks without being forced to endure a great number of attacks from the foe.
- Mega Lucario's powerful Fighting / Steel type STABs provides it effective offensive coverage as well as key resistances to Dragon, Ice, Rock, and Normal which enables it to take on the likes of Porygon-Z, Magearna, Crustle, and Durant. Its Steel typing also provides immunity to Poison which gives it the upper hand against Nihilego and Mega Venusaur.
- It is also equipped with utility moves like Magnet Rise, which lets it defeat common Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, Donphan, and Choice Scarf Garchomp, as well as Landorus-T with its Special Attacking set.
- Mega Lucario's pre-Mega evolution abilities, Inner Focus and Steadfast, are also useful, and allow it to defeat Jirachi and Togekiss.
- Sadly, its typing is also weak to common offensive types including Fire, Fighting, and Ground which leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon like Victini, Sawk, . Moreover, its sub-par bulk doesn't help either in taking other powerful attacks like Hydro Cannon from Greninja and Psycho Boost from Deoxys-Speed. I'm not GP, but you've said "also" 4 times in the last 4 sentences - may want to reword a couple of them for flow.
- Its physical sets get completely walled by Mega Slowbro (and special doesn't? better example) and Mega Sableye, while bulky Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, Dragonite, and Aegislash are able to take hits from it and retaliate with their moves.

- Despite of having these drawbacks, Mega Lucario is one of the most reliable checks to some of the most common Pokemon in the metagame like Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y which lacks Flame Charge you said it was one of the most reliable and then contradicted yourself with "lacks Flame Charge" - fix, Magearna, and Donphan, as well as anti-meta Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Mega Altaria.

- Repeated usage of Substitute reduces Mega Lucario's HP and increases Reversal's power. At the same time it safeguards Mega Lucario from Counter and status moves and the Flare Blitz recoil which Mega Charizard X suffers upon breaking Substitute makes Reversal a guaranteed KO even on the bulkiest of Mega Charizard X.
- Reversal is its main damaging move in the set reaching 200 Base Power on low health and, with the Adaptability boost, allows it to KO the likes of Magearna, Mega Charizard X, Garchomp, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela
- Rock Tomb acts as a Speed control move which lets Mega Lucario outspeed Pokemon with speed boosting setup moves like Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X. It also lets Mega Lucario OHKO Blacephalon and Mega Charizard Y most of the time.

- Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to even break through walls that resist Reversal, most importantly Mega Venusaur as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron but it comes with the cost of losing to Ground-types like Golem and Donphan.
Is Meteor Mash not a contender for the last slot? Is Rock Tomb necessary? Won't force you to change set but would recommend
Rock Tomb / Swords Dance / Meteor Mash
Magnet Rise / Swords Dance / Meteor Mash

- 252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Charizard, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant.

- Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi. Adaptability boosts Reversal's and Meteor Mash's (if taking suggestion) power after factoring STAB boost to incredibly high levels making Reversal a 400 Base Power move at 3% HP and below.

Usage Tips
========

- It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as both Mega Charizard formes, Magearna, and Donphan. Try to evade matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and Mega Gengar, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Mega Venusaur, Primarina, and Tapu Fini as they would mostly defeat it.
Do you really recommend sending this against Charizard? Flame Charge is more popular than it used to be - better example
- Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance to boost their Speed, use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down and then start again with Substitute till Mega Lucario's reaches the least amount of HP it can. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use the more powerful move at that time, Reversal or Rock Tomb.
- Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns.
- When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme to avoid flinching and outpace Jirachi. Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with Reversal twice to win

Team Options
========

- Choice Scarf Porygon-Z equipped with Ice Beam can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, Naganadel, and Choice Scarf Garchomp as well as bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Magearna, Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise, and Mega Aggron, for Porygon-Z.
- Bulky Mega Charizard Y appreciates Mega Lucario's ability to take on Mega Charizard X, Heatran, Donphan, and Golem. With Flame Charge equipped, Mega Charizard Y can help it by checking Mega Gyarados, non Choice-Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Slowbro, Greninja, Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Mawile which usually defeat Mega Lucario.
- This Mega Lucario set doesn't have any powerful move to hit Ghost-type Pokemon. Taunt Mega Gyarados can take on most of the Ghost-types including Aegislash, and Mega Sableye. In addition, it also defeats Dragonite, Choice Scarf Garchomp, Sawk, and Choice Scarf Victini which defeat Mega Lucario. At the same time, Mega Lucario defeats Magearna, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, and Kartana which are common Mega Gyarados checks.

- High Jump Kick or Close Combat can be used as Mega Lucario's Fighting STAB. While High Jump kick provides more offensive output to KO Offensive Mega Charizard X after Flare Blitz recoil, Porygon-Z, Mega Aggron, and Meloetta most of the time, it has crash damage when it misses which is an especial setback on a frail attacker like Mega Lucario. Close Combat can also be used, which is a safer but lesser hitting version of High Jump Kick. Mention that CC lower defenses which is relevant in some mus
- Meteor Mash has relatively good accuracy and adds in a whole lot of possibilities to this set as it lets Mega Lucario take on Psychium Z Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Medicham, and Mega Venusaur. It also has a 20% chance to raise Mega Lucario's Attack stat by 1 stage which can be helpful against Waterium Z Tapu Fini.
- Rock Tomb hits Mega Charizard Y and Mega Pinsir. It can also be used to lower the Speed of stall Deoxys-Speed and Crustle, after which Mega Lucario can either boost its offense with Swords Dance against Deoxys-Speed or proceed to finish Crustle with Meteor Mash.
- Magnet Rise helps Mega Lucario in defeating Ground-type Pokemon like Garchomp, non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Golem, and Donphan.
- Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to break through bulky walls like Mega Venusaur and Celesteela, as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron but it comes with the cost of losing to Ground-types like Golem and Donphan.
Most Charizard Y can tank a Rock Tomb. Slash Rock Slide?

- 252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Charizard, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant.
- 28 SpD EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest maximum Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z.
- The remaining 228 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna and Meloetta
- Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi, Mega Medicham, and Togekiss.
Not megaing against Medicham is a consistently suboptimal play
Usage Tips
========

- Try sending Mega Lucario against Pokemon which it can immediately KO, like Heatran, Porygon-Z, and Tapu Lele.
- Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also use Rock Tomb against Crustle to outspeed it even after it uses Shell Smash, since you can tank an Earthquake from it. Follow it up with Meteor Mash on the next turn to secure the KO.
- When matched up against Jirachi or Togekiss, start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme to avoid flinching and outpace both of them. Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with your Fighting-type STAB move on Jirachi and Meteor Mash on Togekiss to secure the win.
- Avoid sending Mega Lucario against faster attackers like Greninja, Naganadel, and Pheromosa.

Team Options
========

- Primarina is a good teammate to Mega Lucario. While Primarina can check Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, and Genesect for Mega Lucario, the latter checks Mega Charizard Y, Porygon Z, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Fini for Primarina.
- Since fast Pokemon like Zeraora, Pheromosa and Mega Lopunny counter Mega Lucario, Belly Drum Flame Charge Mega Charizard X or Mega Blaziken can be used. In turn, Mega Lucario can beat Heatran, Meloetta, and Tapu Lele for Mega Charizard X and Mega Blaziken.

- A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute / Dark Pulse can be utilized to check Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Slowbro and Mega Venusaur in addition to Tapu Lele and Mega Scizor. But the sub-par accuracy of Focus Blast makes thunder lose to more Pokemon than win and so, is generally outclassed by its physical sets. What? Thunder? Last sentence doesn't make any sense. Slowbro isn't 2HKO'd by Dark Pulse.
- Thunder Punch is another option which can be used to defeat Mega Gyarados that anticipate a Fighting-type STAB incoming and may not mega evolve and attack straightaway but Mega Lucario finds it tough to make room for it. Similarly, Hidden Power Electric on the Special Attacking set helps in achieving the same goal, with the same drawback. Mention the importance of Rock Tomb in this matchup considering that TPunch and HP Ele don't OHKO
- Bulk Up and Calm Mind can be used as boosting options on the sets to take care of Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Primarina, but since Mega Lucario is frail, it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making these moves sub-optimal to Swords Dance and Nasty Plot respectively Mention how Bulk Up improves the Metagross matchup

**Bulky Pokemon**: Defensive Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Zygarde-C can take multiple hits from Mega Lucario with ease and either outstall or KO it with their own moves. Bulky Offensive Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Heracross, Aegislash, and Dragonite can take any attack from Mega Lucario and KO back with their own moves.

**Water-types**: Most of the Water-type Pokemon in the tier like Greninja, Mega Gyarados, Primarina, and Tapu Fini defeat Mega Lucario as they either outspeed or tank a hit and KO it.

**Flame Charge**: Although Mega Lucario is a good check to both Mega Charizard formes, it loses if they have have Flame Charge in their moveset.

**Some Sturdy Pokemon**: Magnezone and Sawk can take one hit from Mega Lucario and OHKO back with their STAB moves. Golem with Fire Punch, though rare, can also take out the SubReversal Mega Lucario set despite having Magnet Rise.

- 252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Charizard, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant.
- 28 SpD EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Scarf Modest max Special Attack Porygon-Z.
- The remaining 228 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna and Meloetta
- Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi. Adaptability boosts Reversal's power after factoring STAB boost to incredibly high levels making Reversal a 400 Base Power move at 3% HP and below.

Usage Tips
========

- It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Magearna and Donphan. Try to evade matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and Mega Gengar, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Mega Venusaur, Primarina, and Tapu Fini as they would mostly defeat it.
[Mention using Rock Tomb against Mega Charizard Y to avoid Flame Charge]
[Mention when to use Meteor Mash / Magnet Rise / Swords Dance]

Team Options
========

- Choice Scarf Porygon-Z equipped with Ice Beam can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, Naganadel, and non-max speed Choice Scarf Garchomp as well as bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and Landorus-T.

Moves
========

- High Jump Kick or Close Combat can be used as Mega Lucario's Fighting STAB. While High Jump kick provides more offensive output to KO Offensive Mega Charizard X, Porygon-Z, Mega Aggron, and Meloetta most of the time, it has crash damage when it misses which is an especial setback on a frail attacker like Mega Lucario. Close Combat can also be used, which is a safer but lesser hitting version of High Jump Kick. Close Combat lower defenses which is relevant in some match-ups like bulky Genesect and Custap Berry Porygon-Z.
- Rock Tomb or Rock Slide hits Mega Charizard Y and Mega Pinsir. While Rock Tomb can be used to lower the Speed of stall Deoxys-Speed and Crustle, after which Mega Lucario can either boost its offense with Swords Dance against Deoxys-Speed or proceed to finish Crustle with Meteor Mash [This should be in Usage Tips], Rock Slide helps secure KOs on bulky Mega Charizard Y and non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon

Usage Tips

[Include the earlier part about using Rock Tomb]
[Mention when to use Swords Dance and Magnet Rise]

Team Options
========

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute / Dark Pulse can be utilized to check Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Venusaur in addition to Tapu Lele and Mega Scizor. But the sub-par accuracy of Focus Blast makes Mega Lucario lose to more Pokemon than win and so, is generally outclassed by its physical sets.
- Bulk Up and Calm Mind can be used as boosting options on the sets to take care of Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, non-Hammer Arm Mega Metagross, and Primarina, but since Mega Lucario is frail, it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making these moves sub-optimal to Swords Dance and Nasty Plot respectively
- Screech can also be used as an alternative to Swords Dance; this helps it beat slower stall Pokemon like Kee Berry Mew, and Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire and Pyukumuku against which Swords Dance does nothing. However, its accuracy is an issue, since this lets it lose key Iron Defense matchups like Magearna and stall Deoxys-Speed, against which Swords Dance is better

Checks and Counters
===================

**Powerful Fast Attackers**: Naganadel, Greninja, Tapu Koko, Mega Lopunny, and Choice Scarf users like Garchomp and Victini outspeed Mega Lucario and are able to OHKO it with their powerful attacks before Mega Lucario gets a chance to retaliate.

[OVERVIEW]

With impressive Attack and Special Attack kinda irrelevant since its OO stats coupled with a compelling ability in Adaptability and a splendid movepool, Mega Lucario is a hard-hitter in the 1v1 metagame. Mega Lucario's high Speed lets it outspeed top tier threats like both Mega Charizard Y formes not beating Char x, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, and Durant, which allows it to fire off its powerful attacks without being forced to endure a great number of attacks from the foe. Mega Lucario's powerful Fighting / Steel type STABs provides it effective offensive coverage as well as key resistances to Dragon, Ice, Rock, and Normal which enables it to take on the likes of Porygon-Z, Magearna, non-Earthquake Crustle, and Durant clarify which matchups are gained through offensive coverage, and which is gained through resistance (primarily pz). In addition to this, its Steel typing provides immunity to Poison which gives it the upper hand against Nihilego and Mega Venusaur. It is equipped with utility moves like Magnet Rise, which lets it defeat common Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, Donphan, and non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, as well as Landorus-T with its Special Attacking set kinda irrelevant for General. Mega Lucario's pre-Mega evolution abilities, Inner Focus allow it to defeat Jirachi and Togekiss. Sadly, its typing is also weak to common offensive types including Fire, Fighting, and Ground which leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon like Victini, Sawk, Zygarde, and Mega Charizard X. Moreover, its sub-par bulk doesn't help either in taking other powerful attacks like Hydro Cannon from Greninja and Psycho Boost from Deoxys-Speed. Its physical sets get completely walled by Buzzwole and Mega Sableye, are there more relevant examples? move aegislash here while bulky Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, Dragonite, and Aegislash are able to take hits from it and retaliate with their moves. Due to these factors, it faces tough competition from other Fighting-type Pokemon as well as Steel-type Pokemon like Magearna, Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o. Despite these drawbacks, Mega Lucario is one of the most reliable checks to some of the most common Pokemon in the metagame like Mega Charizard Y, Magearna, and Donphan, as well as anti-meta Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Mega Altaria. how is luc beating mega alt consistently? i see it fire blasting in reg form and 2hkoing, or hyper voicing past sub, or cotton guard + roost spamming

Repeated usage of Substitute reduces Mega Lucario's HP and increases Reversal's power. At the same time it safeguards Mega Lucario from Counter and status moves and the Flare Blitz recoil which Mega Charizard X suffers upon breaking Substitute makes Reversal a guaranteed KO even on the bulkiest of Mega Charizard X. Flame Charge invalidates this. Talk about Magearna, how it blocks pain split Reversal is its main damaging move in the set reaching 200 Base Power on low health and, with the Adaptability boost, allows it to KO the likes of Magearna, Mega Charizard X, Garchomp, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela. Rock Tomb acts as a Speed control move which lets Mega Lucario outspeed Pokemon with speed boosting setup moves like Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X. most char x are Flame Charge nowadays, which rock tomb won't beat consistently at all. Is there any other reason to run it for speed control? if not, maybe consider slashing this elsewhere, as its basically a coverage move, as well as listing that it beats the rarer non-flame charge zard x It also lets Mega Lucario consistently OHKO Mega Charizard Y, as well of have a decent chance against and Blacephalon most of the time. clarifies that tomb ohkoes char y all of the time, instead of most. Magnet Rise is used to allow Mega Lucario to defeat Pokemon that carry super effective Ground-type moves such as Garchomp, Donphan and Golem. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to even break through walls that resist Reversal, most importantly Mega Venusaur as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron but it comes with the cost of losing to Ground-types like Golem and Donphan. implied since you are slashing it with magnet rise Meteor Mash is used to KO Fairy-type Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir Tapu Bulu, Togekiss, and Clefable.

Usage Tips

It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Magearna and Donphan I would choose an example that can be beaten by every variant of this set. Try to evade matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and Mega Gengar rock tomb into meteor mash kos this bad boy, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Mega Venusaur, you literally just said you beat mega venusaur. Either remove this or explain how venu actually loses Primarina, and Tapu Fini as they would mostly defeat it. Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance to boost their Speed, does this apply to any other pokemon besides char x? if so, which ones? use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down and then start again with Substitute till Mega Lucario's reaches the least amount of HP it can have. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use the more powerful move at that time, Reversal or Rock Tomb how about using swords dance? whats wrong with that. Against Ground-type Pokemon like Donphan and Golem, use Magnet Rise so as to not let their STAB moves KO you. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also, use Rock Tomb against offensive Mega Charizard Y to KO. which, if it doesn't KO, is useful to avoid Flame Charge. When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme to avoid flinching and outpace Jirachi. Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with Reversal twice to win. Against stall Pokemon, use Swords Dance if you are faster, or use Rock Tomb if the stall Pokemon is faster like Deoxys-Speed in order to avoid being Taunted before boosting your Attack.

Maybe Serperior? as well as bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Magearna, Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise, and Mega Aggron, for Porygon-Z. Bulky Mega Charizard Y appreciates Mega Lucario's ability to take on Mega Charizard X, Heatran, Donphan, and Golem. With Flame Charge equipped, Mega Charizard Y can help it by checking Mega Gyarados not really. Super rng reliant, non Choice-Scarf Landorus-T, Calm Mind Mega Slowbro, Greninja, Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur bruh, and Mega Mawile which usually defeat Mega Lucario. In addition, it also defeats Dragonite, Choice Scarf Garchomp, Sawk not super reliably, if sawk is cb or gets good reads with bulk up, and Choice Scarf Victini which defeat Mega Lucario. RTomb in AoA set is to outspeed SSmash EQ Crustle and DeoS, while it also usuallu kills ZardY and Blacephalon. RSlide just "seals" the win on the latter two Pokemon. RTomb is both 'chip' damage and outspeeding, so IDK why RSlide was the "better pick" there....

Apart from that, implemented everything, Alakazam

You don’t need to outspeed crustle tho. It can’t ohko you, and if it has EQ you already lose

252 240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed base 110s such as Archeops, as well as as many Pokemon as possible including Mega Charizard X and Y, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant. 28 20 SpD and 12 HP EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest max Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The 12 HP EVs also allows Mega Lucario to live 1 Flame Charge from Mega Charizard X, allowing Mega Lucario the chance to successfully win against Flame Charge X with Rock Tomb. The remaining 228 236 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna Swords Dance is all you need against Magearna and Mega Swampert. in retrospect just remove this, the justification of hitting as hard as possible is enough Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi most of the time and Togekiss . Adaptability boosts Reversal's power after factoring STAB boost to incredibly high levels making Reversal a 400 Base Power move at 3% HP and below.

Usage Tips
========

It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Magearna would change the example, since only one variant of Sub reversal wins. Try to evade matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Primarina, and Tapu Fini as they would mostly defeat it. Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance and Quiver Dance all relevant quiver dance users you use a rock move first no matter what or you die to them to boost their Speed, use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down and then start again with Substitute till Mega Lucario's reaches the least amount of HP it can have. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use the more powerful move at that time, Reversal or Rock Tomb, or boost your offense with Swords Dance. Against Ground-type Pokemon like Donphan and Golem, use Magnet Rise so as to not let their STAB moves KO you. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also, use Rock Tomb against offensive Mega Charizard Y to KO. include rock slide When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme to avoid flinching and outpace Jirachi. Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with Reversal twice to win fix this. Against stall Pokemon, use Swords Dance if you are faster, or use Rock Tomb if the stall Pokemon is faster like Deoxys-S in order to avoid being Taunted before boosting your Attack. add how you play mind games with flame charge char x

Choice Scarf Porygon-Z can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, Naganadel, and as well as bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Magearna, Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise, and Mega Aggron, for Porygon-Z. Bulky Mega Charizard Y appreciates Mega Lucario's ability to take on Mega Charizard X, non-Taunt Heatran, Donphan, and Golem. With Flame Charge equipped, Mega Charizard Y can help it by checking non Choice-Scarf Landorus-T, Calm Mind Mega Slowbro, Greninja, Tapu Fini, and Mega Mawile which usually defeat Mega Lucario. This Mega Lucario set doesn't have any powerful move to hit Ghost-type Pokemon. Taunt Mega Gyarados can take on most of the Ghost-types including Aegislash and Mega Sableye. In addition, it also defeats Dragonite, Choice Scarf Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Victini which defeat Mega Lucario. At the same time, Mega Lucario defeats Magearna, bulky Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, and Kartana which are common Mega Gyarados checks.

High Jump Kick or Close Combat can be used as Mega Lucario's Fighting STAB. While High Jump kick provides more offensive output to KO, Porygon-Z, Mega Aggron, and Meloetta most of the time, it has crash damage when it misses which is an especial setback on a frail attacker like Mega Lucario. Close Combat can also be used, which is a safer but lesser hitting version of High Jump Kick. Close Combat lower defenses which is relevant in some match-ups like bulky non-Flamethrower Genesect, Meloetta, and Custap Berry Porygon-Z. Meteor Mash has relatively good accuracy and adds in a whole lot of possibilities to this set as it lets Mega Lucario take on Psychium Z Tapu Lele and Mega Gardevoir. It also has a 20% chance to raise Mega Lucario's Attack stat by 1 stage which can be helpful against Waterium Z Tapu Fini; however, this is naturally unreliable, and should be used as a last resort tactic. Rock Tomb or Rock Slide hits Mega Charizard Y and Mega Pinsir. While Rock Tomb can be used to lower the Speed of stall Deoxys-Speed and Crustle, Rock Slide helps secure KOs on bulky Mega Charizard Y and non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon. Magnet Rise helps Mega Lucario in defeating Ground-type Pokemon like Garchomp, non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Golem, and Donphan. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to break through bulky walls like Mega Venusaur and stall Celesteela, as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron. Ice Punch can be considered for stuff like Garchomp and Jumpluff

252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Mega Charizard Y, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant. 28 SpD EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest maximum Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The remaining 228 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna and Meloetta. Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi and Togekiss.

Usage Tips
========

Try sending Mega Lucario against Pokemon which it can immediately KO, like Heatran, Porygon-Z, and Tapu Lele. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also use Rock Tomb against Crustle and stall Deoxys-Speed to outspeed them, after which Mega Lucario can either boost its offense with Swords Dance against Deoxys-Speed or proceed to finish Crustle with Meteor Mash. When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb while being in pre-mega forme to avoid flinching and outpace it. Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with your Fighting-type STAB move on Jirachi to secure the the best possible chance to win. Use Magnet Rise when up against Pokemon like Donphan and Golem to avoid getting KOed by them. Avoid sending Mega Lucario against faster attackers like Greninja, Naganadel, and Pheromosa.

Team Options
========

Primarina is a good teammate to Mega Lucario. While Primarina can check Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, and Genesect for Mega Lucario, the latter checks Mega Charizard Y, Porygon Z, Tapu Lele, and Mega Gardevoir for Primarina. Since fast Pokemon like Zeraora, Pheromosa and Mega Lopunny counter Mega Lucario, Flame Charge Mega Charizard X or Mega Blaziken can be used. In turn, Mega Lucario can beat Heatran, Meloetta, and Tapu Lele for Mega Charizard X and Mega Blaziken.

Other Options
=============

A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute / Dark Pulse can be utilized to check Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Venusaur remove this in addition to Mega Scizor. But the sub-par accuracy of Focus Blast makes Mega Lucario lose to more Pokemon than win and so, is generally outclassed by its physical sets. Bulk Up and Calm Mind can be used as boosting options on the sets to take care of Pokemon like Mega Gyarados clarify the mu further, non-Hammer Arm Mega Metagross, and non-Encore Primarina clarify that cm beats prima, not bulk up, but since Mega Lucario is frail, it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making these moves sub-optimal to Swords Dance and Nasty Plot respectively. Screech can also be used as an alternative to Swords Dance and Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire and Pyukumuku against which Swords Dance does nothing. However, its accuracy is an issue, since this lets it lose key Iron Defense matchups like Magearna and stall Deoxys-Speed, against which Swords Dance is better.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Most of the Water-type Pokemon in the tier like Greninja, Mega Gyarados, Primarina, and Tapu Fini defeat Mega Lucario as they either outspeed or tank a hit and KO it.

**Flame Charge Mega Charizard X**: Mega Lucario loses if they Mega Charizard X have have Flame Charge in their moveset.

**Some Sturdy Pokemon**: Magnezone and Sawk can take one hit from Mega Lucario and OHKO back with their STAB moves. Golem with Fire Punch, though rare, can also take out the SubReversal Mega Lucario set despite having Magnet Rise.

[OVERVIEW]

With impressive Attack stats coupled with a compelling ability in Adaptability and a splendid movepool, Mega Lucario is a hard-hitter in the 1v1 metagame. Mega Lucario's high Speed lets it outspeed and KO top tier threats like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, and Durant, which allows it to fire off its powerful attacks without being forced to endure a great number of attacks from the foe. Mega Lucario's powerful Fighting / Steel type STABs provides it effective offensive coverage as well as key resistances to Ice, Rock, and Normal types. This enables it to gain the upper hand against Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Heatran so you say that resistances to Ice, Rock, and Normal helps againts Heatran? that doesn't really make any sense. This sounds like you can summarize this by saying that "its Steel-typing lets it resist Normal-type attacks, allowing it to be a great counter to Porygon Z", bc you beat Heatran offensively not defensively by virtue of typing, and against through offensive coverage. In addition to this, its Steel typing provides immunity to Poison which gives it the upper hand against Mega Venusaur. you can also combine the immunity to the normal resistance It is equipped with utility moves like Magnet Rise, which lets it defeat common Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, Donphan, and non-Choice Scarf Garchomp. Mega Lucario's pre-Mega evolution abilities, Inner Focus, allow it to defeat Jirachi most of the time. Sadly, its typing is also weak to common offensive types including Fire, Fighting, and Ground would remove this bc magnet rise beats the grounds, its just that Zygarde has a way around it. which leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon like non-Choice Band Victini, Sawk, Zygarde, and Mega Charizard X, as well as the unique Thousand Arrows Zygarde, bypassing Magnet Rise. Moreover, its sub-par bulk doesn't help either in taking other powerful attacks like Hydro Cannon from Greninja and Psycho Boost from Deoxys-Speed. Its physical sets get completely walled by Aegislash, while bulky Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Dragonite are able to take hits from it and retaliate with their moves. Due to these factors, it faces tough competition from other Fighting-type Pokemon as well as Steel-type Pokemon like Magearna, Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o. Despite these drawbacks, Mega Lucario is one of the most reliable checks to some of the most common Pokemon in the metagame like Mega Charizard Y, Magearna, and Donphan, as well as anti-meta Pokemon like Mega Aggron and non-Choice Scarf Togekiss. redundant

Repeated usage of Substitute reduces Mega Lucario's HP and increases Reversal's power. At the same time it safeguards Mega Lucario from Counter and Metal Burst and status moves like Pain Split from Magearna and Leech Seed from stall Celesteela. Reversal is its main damaging move in the set reaching 200 Base Power on low health and, with the Adaptability boost, allows it to KO the likes of Garchomp, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela. Rock Slide lets Mega Lucario always KO Pokemon like bulky Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, bulky Volcarona, and non Choice Scarf Blacephalon. Rock Tomb acts as a Speed control move which lets Mega Lucario outspeed Pokemon with speed boosting setup moves like non-Flame Charge Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X and Earthquake Crustle, but loses out against Blacephalon and bulkier variants of Mega Charizard Y. It also lets Mega Lucario consistently OHKO Mega Charizard Y, as well of have a decent chance against Blacephalon. Magnet Rise is used to allow Mega Lucario to defeat Pokemon that carry super effective Ground-type moves such as non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Donphan and Golem. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to beat Magearna after being boosted by Swords Dance and even break through walls that resist Reversal, most importantly Mega Venusaur as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron. Meteor Mash is used to KO Fairy-type Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Bulu, non-Choice Scarf Togekiss, and Clefable.

It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Celesteela. Try to evade matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Primarina, and Tapu Fini as they would mostly defeat it. Against Tapunium Z Tapu Fini, use Meteor Mash first. If they use Guardian of Alola, use Substitute, before unleashing a devastating 200 BP Reversal. Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance to boost their Speed, use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down and then start again with use Substitute till Mega Lucario's reaches the least amount of HP it can have. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use the more powerful move at that time, Reversal, Meteor Mash, or Rock Slide, or boost your offense with Swords Dance. Against Ground-type Pokemon like Donphan and Golem, use Magnet Rise so as to not let their STAB moves KO you, before using Substitute to evade a potential Counter. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. When matched up against Jirachi, the best play is to start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme and outpace Jirachi. Then mega evolve on the next turn and use Substitute to get Mega Lucario within range of high Base Power Reversal, which will let you win most of the time. Against stall Pokemon, use Swords Dance if you are faster, or use Rock Tomb if the stall Pokemon is faster like stall Deoxys-S in order to avoid being Taunted before boosting your Attack.

Choice Scarf Porygon-Z can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, Naganadel, and as well as physically bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Magearna if running Swords Dance, Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise, and Mega Aggron, for Porygon-Z. Bulky Mega Charizard Y appreciates Mega Lucario's ability to take on non-Taunt Heatran, Donphan, and Golem. With Flame Charge equipped, (FC only potentially helps in like 1 matchup mentioned) Mega Charizard Y can help it by checking non Choice-Scarf Landorus-T, Calm Mind Mega Slowbro, Greninja, Tapu Fini, and Mega Mawile which usually defeat Mega Lucario.

High Jump kick provides more offensive output to KO Porygon-Z, Mega Aggron, and Meloetta most of the time. While Rock Tomb can be used to lower the Speed of stall Deoxys-Speed and Crustle, while also OHKOing Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Mega Pinsir. Rock Slide helps secure KOs on bulky Mega Charizard Y and non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon. (move this to oo) Magnet Rise helps Mega Lucario in defeating Ground-type Pokemon like non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Groundium Z Landorus-T, Golem, and Donphan. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to break through bulky walls like Mega Venusaur and stall Mew stall Celesteela, as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron. Ice Punch can be considered for stuff like Garchomp and Jumpluff. (definitely oo this)

Set Details

240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard Y, Non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant (issue I have here is that every single mon here (besides the beloved durant) mentioned is not covered by Lucario's STABs. you may as well be describing a rock pokemon.). 28 SpD EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest maximum Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The remaining 240 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible against foes like Magearna and Meloetta. Inner Focus as the pre-mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi.

Usage Tips
========

Then mega evolve on the next turn and follow up with High Jump Kick on Jirachi to the best possible chance to win. Use Magnet Rise when up against Pokemon like Donphan and Golem to avoid getting KOed by them. Even after using Magnet Rise, be wary of a potential Counter, so use Rock Tomb to break their Sturdy. Avoid sending Mega Lucario against faster attackers like Greninja, Naganadel, and Pheromosa.

Team Options
========

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]x
Other Options
=============

have more relevant options first. id say CC and Rock Slide should be first mentioned here. Cons of CC, less reliable vs incineroar. Cons of Rock Slide, no speed lowering for crustle, but pro more damage and flinch.
A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute / Dark Pulse (why are there 5 moves in the set lol) can be utilized to check Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Mawile and Mega Scizor. But the sub-par accuracy of Focus Blast makes Mega Lucario lose to more Pokemon than win and so, is generally outclassed by its physical sets. (I think also mention that its just isnt as strong, like it means that Lucario cant even ohko max hp garde) Bulk Up can be used as boosting options on the sets to take care of Pokemon like non Earthquake Mega Gyarados , non-Hammer Arm Mega Metagross, but since Mega Lucario is frail, it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making this move sub-optimal to Swords Dance. Screech can also be used as an alternative to Swords Dance and Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire and Pyukumuku against which Swords Dance does nothing. However, its accuracy is an issue, since this lets it lose key Iron Defense matchups like Magearna and stall Deoxys-Speed, against which Swords Dance is better.

adding set of 252 Atk / 96 SpD / 160 Spe Jolly so that it can tank Scarf Genesect Flamethrower. theres no relevant base 110 Speed mons that you reliably beat anyway. still outspeeds base 100s.
252+ SpA Genesect Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 96 SpD Lucario-Mega: 240-284 (85.4 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Most of the Water-type Pokemon in the tier like Greninja, Mega Gyarados, Primarina, and Tapu Fini defeat Mega Lucario as they either outspeed or tank a hit and KO it.

**Flame Charge Mega Charizard X**: Mega Lucario loses if Mega Charizard X have Flame Charge in their moveset.

**Some Sturdy Pokemon**: Magnezone and Sawk can take one hit from Mega Lucario and OHKO back with their STAB moves. Golem with Fire Punch and Donphan with Superpower, though rare, can also take out the SubReversal Mega Lucario set despite having Magnet Rise.

Interesting analysis. The main thing i was put off was that the two sets have very similar moves and sets, which resulted in a lot of unnecessary overlap. Honestly I feel like this would have turned out much better if the whole thing was rewritten rather than 'adapted' from zard8888's original analysis, as the meta has shifted so much.
With that being said, gotta work with what we've got. Implement this and get back to me so I can double check things.

[OVERVIEW]

With impressive Attack stats coupled with a compelling ability in Adaptability and a splendid movepool, Mega Lucario is a hard-hitter in the 1v1 metagame. Mega Lucario's high Speed lets it outspeed and KO top tier threats like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, and Heatran. Its Steel-typing(remove hyphen) lets it resist Normal-type attacks, allowing it to be a great counter to Porygon Z and Meloetta. In addition to this, its Steel typing provides immunity to Poison poison which gives it the upper hand against Mega Venusaur. It Mega Lucario is equipped with utility moves like Magnet Rise, which lets it defeat common Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, Donphan, and non-Choice Scarf Garchomp. Mega Lucario's pre-Mega evolution abilities ability, Inner Focus, allows it to defeat Jirachi most of the time. Sadly, its typing is also weak to common offensive types including Fire, (remove comma) and Fighting which leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon like non-Choice Band Victini, Sawk, and Mega Charizard X, as well as the unique Thousand Arrows Zygarde, bypassing which bypasses Magnet Rise. Mega Lucario also struggles to fit everything it wants on one set, leaving it vulnerable to common threats if it does not run the correct coverage move. Moreover, its sub-par(remove hyphen) bulk doesn't help either in taking other powerful attacks like Hydro Cannon from Greninja and Psycho Boost from Deoxys-Speed. Its physical sets get completely walled by Aegislash, while bulky Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Dragonite are able to take hits from it and retaliate with their moves. Due to these factors, it faces tough competition from other Fighting-type Pokemon as well as Fighting- or Steel-type Pokemon like Magearna, Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kommo-o.

Repeated usage of Substitute reduces Mega Lucario's HP and increases Reversal's power. At the same time it safeguards Mega Lucario from Counter(add comma) and Metal Burst(add comma) and status moves like Pain Split from Magearna and Leech Seed from stall Celesteela. Reversal is its main damaging move in the set(add comma) reaching 200 Base Power on low health and, with the Adaptability boost, allows allowing it to KO the likes of Garchomp, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela. Meteor Mash is used to KO Fairy-type Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Bulu, non-Choice Scarf Togekiss, and Clefable. Swords Dance is a useful setup move that allows Mega Lucario to beat Magearna in conjunction with Substitute and even break through walls that resist Reversal, as well as bulky setup Pokemon like Curse Mega Aggron. Magnet Rise is used to allow Mega Lucario to defeat Pokemon that carry super effective Ground-type moves such as non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Donphan(add comma) and Golem. Rock Tomb acts as a Speed speed control move which lets Mega Lucario outspeed Pokemon with speed boosting setup moves like Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X and Earthquake Crustle, (shouldn't this be Shell Smash, not Earthquake? since you're talking about boosting moves) but loses out against Blacephalon and bulkier variants of Mega Charizard Y(add period)

240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it outspeed base 110s such as Archeops, as well as Mega Charizard X and Y, Non non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, Mega Pinsir, Non non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Durant. 28 SpD EVs ensure that Mega Lucario survives a Hyper Beam from Modest max Special Attack Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. The remaining 240 EVs are invested in Attack to enhance Mega Lucario's offensive capability by letting it hit as hard as possible. Inner Focus as the pre-Mega mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching which lets it defeat Jirachi most of the time. Adaptability boosts Reversal's power after factoring in the STAB boost(add comma) to incredibly high levels making Reversal a 400 Base Power move at 3% HP and below.

Usage Tips
========

It's best to send Mega Lucario to battle if you predict the opponent to send Pokemon that get outsped and cannot stall it away such as Celesteela. Try to evade avoid matching Mega Lucario against Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Mega Sableye, and other bulky Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, (remove comma) or Primarina, as they would mostly defeat it. Against Tapunium Z Tapu Fini, use Meteor Mash first. If they use Guardian of Alola, use Substitute, (remove comma) before unleashing a devastating 200 BP Reversal. Against most Pokemon, start by using Substitute to reduce HP for increasing Reversal's power. If the opposing Pokemon set up with moves such as Dragon Dance to boost their Speed, use Rock Tomb on the following turn to slow them down and then use Substitute till until Mega Lucario's reaches the least amount of HP it can have. If the foe's attacks do not break Substitute on a turn, you can use whichever move is most beneficial at that time. the more powerful move at that time, Reversal, Meteor Mash, or Rock Slide, or boost your offense with Swords Dance. (This sentence boiled down to just listing the moves you're likely to have and saying "hey, use whichever is better" which should be common sense, which is why I reduced it. I'm only leaving this sentence in at all because I think it's valuable to mention that you get free reign when your Sub isn't broken on a turn.) Against Ground-type Pokemon like Donphan and Golem, use Magnet Rise so as to not let their STAB moves KO you, before using Substitute to evade avoid a potential Counter. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users such as Porygon-Z to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. When matched up against Jirachi, the best play is to start with Rock Tomb while being in regular forme and in order to outpace Jirachi. Then mega evolve Mega Evolve on the next turn and use Substitute to get Mega Lucario within range of high Base Power Reversal, which will let you win most of the time. Against stall Pokemon, use Swords Dance if you are faster, (remove comma) or use Rock Tomb if the stall Pokemon is faster like stall Deoxys-S in order to avoid being Taunted before boosting your Attack by Pokemon such as Deoxys-S.

Team Options

Choice Scarf Porygon-Z can be paired with Mega Lucario to defeat most of the Pokemon that outspeed it such as Greninja, Mega Lopunny, Naganadel, and as well as physically bulky Pokemon including Zygarde-C and non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Concurrently, Mega Lucario checks Magearna if running Swords Dance, Donphan and Golem if carrying Magnet Rise, and Mega Aggron, (remove comma) for Porygon-Z. Close Combat and Rock Slide can be considered as alternatives to High Jump Kick and Rock Tomb respectively. Close Combat trades raw power for accuracy which leaves it unable to beat some matchups that High Jump Kick beats like bulky Incineroar; Rock Slide, while beating bulky Mega Charizard Y and has providing a chance to flinch of flinching, does not lower Speed, which does not let it beat Pokemon like Crustle and stall Deoxys-S. A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute can be utilized to check counters to Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Mawile and Mega Scizor. (I believe this is what this sentence is meaning to say? Mega Maw and Zor counter physical Lucario, so special sets can be run to surprise them, correct?) But the sub-par(remove hyphen) accuracy of Focus Blast and its general lack of reliable, strong STAB moves makes Mega Lucario lose to more Pokemon than win struggle significantly against many Pokemon like bulky Mega Gardevoir and so, (remove comma) it is generally outclassed by its physical sets. 240 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature lets it let Mega Lucario outspeed as many Pokemon as possible including Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, non-Choice Scarf Blacephalon, Mega Diancie, and Durant. Inner Focus as the pre-Mega ability prevents Lucario from flinching, (AC) which lets it defeat Jirachi.

Usage Tips
========

Send Mega Lucario out against Pokemon which that it can immediately KO like Heatran, Porygon-Z, and Tapu Lele. Use Rock Tomb as the first move against potential Choice Scarf users to outspeed them on the subsequent turns. Also use Rock Tomb against Crustle and stall Deoxys-S to outspeed them, after which Mega Lucario can either finish off the latter with Meteor Mash or boost its offenses with Swords Dance against Deoxys-S or proceed to finish Crustle with Meteor Mash the former. When matched up against Jirachi, start with Rock Tomb while being in standard forme without Mega Evolving to avoid flinching and allow for Lucario to outspeed it. Then Mega Evolve on the next turn and follow up with High Jump Kick on Jirachi to have the best possible chance to win.

========

Primarina is a good teammate for Mega Lucario, (comma) While Primarina can checking Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Mega Metagross, Landorus-T, and Genesect for while Mega Lucario, the latter checks Mega Charizard Y, Porygon Z, Tapu Lele, and Mega Gardevoir for Primarina.

Other Options
=============

Close Combat and Rock Slide can be considered as alternatives to High Jump Kick and Rock Tomb, (AC) respectively. Close Combat trades raw power for accuracy, (AC) which leaves it unable to beat secure some matchups that High Jump Kick beats wins like against bulky Incineroar; Rock Slide, while beating bulky Mega Charizard Y and providing a chance to flinch, does not lower Speed, which does not let it means Mega Lucario cannot beat Pokemon like Crustle and stall Deoxys-S. A special attacker set with Flash Cannon / Focus Blast / Nasty Plot / Substitute can be utilized to check counters to Mega Lucario's physical sets like Mega Mawile and Mega Scizor. But However, the sub par subpar accuracy of Focus Blast and its Lucario's general lack of reliable, strong special STAB moves makes Mega Lucario struggle significantly against many Pokemon like bulky Mega Gardevoir, (AC) and so it is generally outclassed by its physical sets. Bulk Up can be used as a boosting option on the sets to take care of Pokemon like non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados and non-Hammer Arm Mega Metagross, but since Mega Lucario is frail, (AC) it usually needs firepower after the boost and not longevity, making this move inferior to Swords Dance. Screech can also be used as an alternative to Swords Dance for Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire and Pyukumuku, against which Swords Dance does nothing. However, its accuracy is an issue, since this can cause it Mega Lucario to lose key Iron Defense matchups against Iron Defense users like Magearna and stall Deoxys-S, (AC) against which Swords Dance is better. Ice Punch can be considered for foes like Garchomp and Jumpluff. A set of 252 Atk / 96 SpD / 160 Spe with a Jolly nature can be utilized so that it Mega Lucario can tank Choice Scarf Genesect Flamethrower and OHKO back with High Jump Kick. This While means that it will underspeed Pokemon like Kartana and Durant, however it still outspeeds base 100 Speed Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir and Volcarona.
