Megas For All (Read the whole 1st post and check current slate)

True, true. I forgot Roost was directly related to wings. Drifblim does have Pain Split though, so new recovery may not be that necessary (but definitely helpful).

so, can we post our submissions for the next slate yet? for those wondering, I'm thinking about an X and Y version of Lopunny with a new -ate ability. For Krow, I got something similar to Gale Wings. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception I get for them.

Let's not go crazy with Drifblim's defenses, it's not meant to be a wall so let's not turn it in to one. We could give it Prankster, but Drifblim doesn't look very mischievous, and the dex entries make it seem pretty lazy. I like Flare Boost, as it's very unique, but it's so fucking niche that I can't really see much of a use for it. Maybe as a switch-in to Scalds and Will-O-Wisps, as Conkeldurr kind of operates similarly, but Conk also benefits from T-Wave and Toxic, whereas Drifblim does not. So I would be fine with leaving it, as it's the only pokemon line that has it, but it's very niche, so we'd have to give it other buffs. Drifblim's HP is too massive to effectively use Pain Split, so I think Recover or Slack Off would be good options for it. Hurricane is a possible option too, as stranger things learn it.

As for other possible abilities, two come to mind: Shadow Tag and Magic Bounce. The sight of a trapping ability makes many want to flip their shit, but Drifblim lacks what makes Shadow Tag so broken on Mega Gengar and Gothitelle a nightmare against stall. It doesn't have Taunt, so the Blobs aren't completely helpless, and it can be worn down by things like Toxic, whereas Mega Gengar cannot. It also cannot Trick away its mega stone, so nothing scary there. But it can trap things that can't really hurt it, like the (predicted) standard Mega Snorlax set and Skarmory and certain Blob variants and proceed to set up on them, at which point it can either attempt a sweep or Baton Pass its boosts to a teammate.

Magic Bounce because Drifblim is a balloon and balloons are bouncy.

We can't make X and Y versions in case two separate people win because then we'll have one person's X and Y Mega and someone else's... that won't work.

Recover/Roost and Magic Bounce are the best ideas so far.

slack off is a cool choice. I'd like to see a Serene Grace Paraflinch Drifblim. Because we clearly need more of those.

Gale Wings is Talonflame's signature ability, and signature abilities are typically frowned upon when given to other pokemon here. So if you were planning on that for Honchkrow, I'd recommend something else. As for Lopunny, I don't know what you're planning on doing, so go crazy.

? how so... it's one concept in general, so if someone posting an X and Y version wins, then they win the Lopunny mega slot. It wouldn't be "let's vote for a seperate X and a seperate Y version". you're voting for one pokemon that just has two different Mega versions, it's still only one concept.

no, it uses the concept of Gale Wings, giving priority to a certain move typing.

Is this not a good reason to give it Slack Off as recovery move. Also we can maybe give it Speed Boost as an ability to make up for the loss of Unburden. Also Shadow Tag on Drifblim y/y.
Speed Boost would be pretty cool too, although it's pretty bulky already, and with access to CM and a possible recovery move, we'd run the risk of it possibly being overpowered. But then again, maybe not, as I really have no idea how it'd actually play in battle.

Sorry, we've got a rule in place. Only one submission per mon per round

No, if two people tie in votes, than the X and Y of one person and the single mega of the other person win, and then we'd have 3 megas. If everyone submits one and two people tie, on becomes X and the other becomes Y

If Drifblim gets auto-Tailwind it should probably have either higher special attack or be bulkier than Suicune overall. They shouldn't really have too many problems with each other.

A sillier idea for Driblim is to go with a "Weather Balloon" theme and give it an ability (I called it "Weather Report) that summons a random weather when it comes into the field. It's primary typing (Ghost) would also change according to the weather (Hail = Ice, Sandstorm = Rock, Sun = Fire, and Rain = Water). This assures that Weather Ball will always get STAB. It would also change typing after switching in, so it never actually takes the 4x damage from SR. It would also get Hurricane. I haven't worked out a good spread for it, but something that focuses it to be a bulky attacker is ideal.

This is of course a more silly idea. Magic Bounce is cool too.

My concepts will be submitted a tad later than usual due to the loss of my computer for the night (so many Steam Sales downloading, figured it best to just let it sit and download all 45 of them).

No sprites b/c lazy
Mothim
Winner: Dilasc
Mega Mothim
Bug / Flying ----> Bug / Flying
Swarm / Tinted Lens ----> Mineral Dissolve (Rocks do no damage and heal the user by 1/4. This includes Stealth Rocks which are then removed, and sand, which is also removed.
70 / 94 / 50 / 94 / 50 / 66 ----> 70 / 104 / 90 / 104 / 90 / 66
New Moves: Hurricane, Heatwave, Work Up

Concept: Mothim isn't going to be destroying the metagame, but he is going to stop you from rocking his world. Mineral Dissolve make him immune to all hazards and gives a very welcome immunity. As it stands, Mothim will still have problems, namely its nonexistent speed, and the fact that 70/90/90 defenses can only get you so far. Still, the Rock immunity is tremendous, as it literally walls Terrakion's every move except the very rare HP Ic. It also walls Breloom who cannot use Rocks on it, and must consider Thunder Punch and its terrible coverage. Rhyperior must have Ice Punch! You get the idea. The number of things this thing puts a damper on is huge, though 104 itemless offenses aren't going to shatter anyone's meta any time soon.

Cherrim
Winner: acestriker19

Mega Cherrim
Type: Grass -> Grass / Ice
Ability: Refridgerate
New Moves: Earthquake, Double-Edge, Quick Attack

HP: 70 -> 70
Atk: 60 -> 105 (+45)
Def: 70 -> 80 (+10)
SpA: 87 -> 92 (+5)
SpD: 78 -> 93 (+15)
Spe: 85 -> 110 (+25)

Concept: Where do cherries go... on Vanilluxe which is a playful way to add ice typing and Refridgerate. Mega Cherrim is designed to be an ice type mega pinsir. While it has a terrible defensive typing if it sets up SD it can be incredible threatening with Refridgerate boosted ice attacks combined with good ground type coverage and Refridgerate quick attack for priority. While sacrificing some of Cherrim original flavor this mega can perform an interesting and new role in the metagame.

Pachirisu
Winner: nightsitter

Mega Pachirisu
Type: Electric -----> Electric
Ability: Run Away, Pickup, Volt Absorb -----> Regenerator
New Moves: Recover

HP: 60 -> 60
Atk: 45 -> 55 (+10)
Def: 70 -> 100 (+30)
SpA: 45 -> 55 (+10)
SpD: 90 -> 115 (+25)
Spe: 95 -> 120 (+25)

Concept: Cute little bitchmon ready to annoy everyone. Nuzzle/U-Turn/Regenerator is a terrifying combination, as it will most likely paralyze more than half of the opponent's team before it faints. Recover and Regen are added because Pachirisu's tail is capable of generating electricity, on which it sustains itself.

This also begins the submission period for Honchcrow, Drifblim, Lopunny, and Gastrodon
