[OVERVIEW]

Meloetta has a solid typing of Normal / Psychic, only having two weaknesses: Bug-types and Dark-types, both of which are not very common typings in the 1v1 Metagame. With Meloetta's 100 HP and 77 Def, it can tank strong attacks like Garchomp's Tectonic Rage, and Pinsir-Mega's Giga Impact with the right EV investment. Since Meloetta has 100 HP and 128 SpD it can easily tank strong Special Attacks with no EV investment. Some of the attacks it can tank include Primarina's Hydro Vortex, Naganadel's Choice Specs Draco Meteor, and Greninja's Choice Specs Dark Pulse. Meloetta can tank strong attacks from the metagame's most powerful Pokemon like Landorus-Therian's Tectonic Rage, Kartana's Bloom Doom, Lopunny-Mega's Fake Out + Giga Impact, and even Donphan's Tectonic Rage + Ice Shard. It can also tank Charizard-Mega Y's Blast Burn and Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam. Meloetta does have the down side of losing to some of the most common offensive threats such as Snorlax, Mimikyu, Physical Dragonite, and Metagross-Mega. Since Meloetta has a base speed of 90, it makes it susceptible to strategies like Curse Mimikyu, Stall Mew and PP stall Deoxys-S.

Moves
========

Hyper Beam allows for the most powerful Z-Move possible. It's Meloetta's main STAB move and with a Normalium Z it can OHKO many Pokemon that don't resist Normal typing, such as Garchomp, non-Special Defense invested Charizard-Mega X, and even Landorus-Therian. Calm Mind allows Meloetta to set up versus opponents. With its great Special Defense it can tank multiple hits while boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense at the same time, which allows it to beat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Primarina, Tapu Fini, Magearna, if running Laser Focus, Heatran, and even Aegislash if it is not running Steelium-Z + Metal Sound.
Psyshock is another great STAB move for Meloetta to have. Psyshock allows Meloetta to take on Poison-types such as Nihilego and Gengar-Mega. It is great to have versus other Special Defense boosting Pokemon. When you're in a Special Stat boosting match, it's handy to be able to Psyshock your opponent's Pokemon as their Physical Defense stat might not have been boosted, thus dealing more damage. Shadow Ball is nice to have versus mainly Ghost-types such as Aegislash that doesn't run Steelium-Z + Metal Sound or non-Snarl Sableye-Mega. It also helps to beat some Steel-types like Aggron-Mega. Uproar is used for Substitute Pokemon like Whimsicott, Jumpluff, Substitute Lopunny-Mega, Substitute Charizard-Mega X and Y, Landorus-Therian, and even Pinsir-Mega. The perk of running Uproar over Hyper Voice is it doesn't allow your opponent to use a sleep-inducing move on you or heal up with Rest. However, you're locked into it for three turns. Laser Focus can be used on other set up Pokemon so that when you're both done setting up, you use Laser Focus and it makes your next move automatically crit. It is very useful for set up Pokemon like Magearna, Stall Mew that doesn't Taunt turn one, and Calm Mind Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini. You can also make use of Z-Laser Focus to beat PP stall Deoxys-S.

Set Details
========

Normalium Z is the best item for Meloetta because it is able to OHKO things that Choice Specs Meloetta can like Landorus-Therian, while also allowing you to set up, unlike the Choice Specs set. 204 HP + 252 Defense is used mainly to tank Lopunny-Mega's Adamant Fake Out + Giga Impact. It also allows it to survive Landorus-Therian's Tectonic Rage, Donphan's Tectonic Rage + Ice Shard, Pinsir-Mega's Giga Impact, Garchomp's Tectonic Rage / Devastating Drake, and so much more. The Timid nature + 16 Speed allows Meloetta to outpace Max Speed Magnezone, giving it a favorable match up. It also outpaces standard Zygarde-C sets and Tapu Fini sets. 252 HP + 132 SpD allows Meloetta to tank a Charizard-Mega Y's Modest Blast Burn. The rest of the EVs are put into Special Attack to maximize the roll to OHKO uninvested Mega Charizard Y. This Specially Defensive Meloetta set deals with Magnezone much better.

Usage Tips
========

Meloetta matches up well versus 1v1's dominant special attacking Pokemon like Magearna, Tapu Lele, Magnezone, Porygon-Z, Aegislash, Primarina, and Tapu Fini. It can easily tank multiple hits and set up in their face, while the opposing Pokemon can't do anything about it. Meloetta is a good pick versus frail Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Naganadel as it can soak up hits and OHKO it with a Breakneck Blitz. Meloetta can be sent out against common physical threats like Landorus-Therian, Donphan, and even Zygarde-C. Meloetta has a straight foward playstyle. It should Breakneck Blitz against Pokemon it can OHKO like Naganadel and Lopunny-Mega and it should Calm Mind against other set up Pokemon like Tapu Fini and Slowbro-Mega or Calm Mind against Pokemon Meloetta cannot OHKO like standard Zygarde-C or Primarina.

Team Options
========

Meloetta struggles versus most Steel-type and Rock-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Aggron, and Genesect, Golem, Crustle, and Tyranitar-Mega. For this reason, Ground-types are solid teammates for Meloetta such as Zygarde-C or Landorus-Therian. Meloetta is weak to Dark and Bug-type Pokemon. Some examples of these would be Gyarados-Mega, Genesect, Volcarona, and Sableye-Mega. Pokemon like Calm Mind Fini or Bulky Charizard-Mega X could be helpful.
Meloetta is defeated by faster stall Pokemon such as Deoxys-S and Mew. It also stuggles versus Pokemon that can tank multiple hits due to their ability, these Pokemon include the likes of Mimikyu and Dragonite. This is why Flame Charge + Swords Dance Charizard-Mega X would make a solid partner. Steel-types in general also make solid partners for Meloetta, beating the likes of Mimikyu and fast plus strong special attacker like Gardevoir-Mega.

Moves
=======

Hyper Beam is Meloetta's strongest STAB attack and helps in OHKOing Zygarde-C, non-Specially Bulky Tapu Lele, and even Primarina. Uproar is used because it helps defeat Substitute and Sleep users like Whimsicott, and Jumpluff. Hitting Pokemon behind Substitutes is all around handy. Meloetta can run many moves in its next slot. Focus Blast helps beat Heatran, non Mirror Coat Magnezone unreliably, Ferrothorn unreliably, and even Porygon2. Psyshock can be used for Pokemon like Nihilego and Blissey, whoch otherwise wall Meloetta. Shadow Ball works well against Aegislash, and can even win match ups against PP stall Deoxys-Speed. The last option is Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt lets Meloetta always beat Slowbro-Mega, helps it beat Tapu Fini and can even pull out win against non Crunch and fast Gyarados-Mega's. In the last slot we have Hidden Power Fire or one of the moves mentioned above, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, or Thunderbolt. Hidden Power Fire lets Meloetta beat Genesect, Ferrothorn reliably, non Mirror Coat Magnezone reliably, Choice Specs Magearna, and even has better chances of beating Metal Burst Aggron or Metal Burst Aggron-Mega.

Set Details
=======

136 Speed allows Meloetta to creep Heracross-Mega and OHKO with a Choice Specs Hyper Beam. 252 Special Attack is used to maximize offensive power and give it the advantage to OHKO Pokemon like Primarina and even OHKO Specially Defensive Charizard-Mega X. The rest of the EVs are placed into HP to make it as bulky as it can be.

Usage Tips
=======

Since Meloetta has amazing Special bulk it should be sent out against dominant Special Attackers like Naganadel, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Greninja, Genesect and even non fast Kommo-o, as it can take a hit from any of them and OHKO back or 2HKO. Meloetta can win against a lot of wall in the Metagame like Slowbro-Mega, Venusaur-Mega, and Blissey. Meloetta is good against Physical attackers it can outspeed and OHKO or live a hit and OHKO like, Tapu Bulu, Choice Scarf Garchomp, and even Specially Defensive Charizard-Mega X. Meloetta should not be sent out against faster Pokemon that can OHKO or Pokemon that can live a hit and OHKO like fast Landorus-T, Lopunny-Mega, Donphan, Golem, Charizard-Mega Y, Mimikyu, Metagross-Mega, and Snorlax.

Team Options
=======

Since Meloetta is weak to Dark-types and Bug-types, Pokemon like Mawile-Mega or Magearna can cover Meloetta's weaknesses and bait in Pokemon like Genesect to lose to Meloetta. Since Meloetta struggles against many Steel-types, due to both of its STABs being resisted, Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Landorus-T can cover Meloetta's weakness to Steel-types. Pokemon such as Excadrill help Meloetta out against Pokemon like Snorlax, Mimikyu, and Metagross-Mega.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scarf Meloetta is very uncommon and is used as a niche type set. Scarf allows it to beat Pokemon like Charizard-Mega X without having to predict, Lopunny-Mega, while not having to run bulk, and even non-Choice Scarfed Durant. Choice Scarf Meloetta would run Hyper Beam, Uproar, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Hidden Power Fire, Psyshock, and Shadow Ball. Choice Scarf Meloetta doesn't beat much in the Metagame and is overall very gimmicky. Trick Room is another move option for the Normalium-Z Meloetta. Trick Room is usually only handy for Charizard-Mega X and Y, and Slowbro-Mega. Trick Room helps Meloetta scout for Substitute on both Charizard-Mega forms. To reliably beat Slowbro-Mega with Trick Room, Meloetta needs to set up three Calm Minds. After setting up three Calm Minds, Meloetta should then use Trick Room. Meloetta then finishes setting up its Calm Minds and there will be one turn of Trick Room left. On the last turn of Trick Room Meloetta should use Breakneck Blitz followed by a Hyper Beam. Since Slowbro-Mega moves first it can't heal up after you use your Z-Move. Then you outspeed it the next turn and finish it out with Hyper Beam. The main reason this wasn't included in the main set is because it is only there for a few Pokemon, Charizard-Mega X and Y, and Slowbro-Mega.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pokemon like Metagross-Mega, Mawile-Mega Genesect and Excadrill wall it or OHKO it before it can KO them.

**Bug-types**: Pretty much any viable Bug-type in 1v1 OHKOs Meloetta or at least lives a hit and 2HKO back. These Pokemon include Genesect, Volcarona, Heracross-Mega, Pheromosa, and Crustle.

**Hard-hitting physical attackers**: Pokemon such as Physical Dragonite, Mimikyu, Snorlax, Sawk, Tapu Bulu, Medicham-Mega are too much for Meloetta to handle. All of these Pokemon either OHKO Meloetta or can tank a hit.

**Dark-types**: Although there isn't many Dark-types in 1v1, few can still be somewhat troublesome for Meloetta. Gyarados-Mega, Sableye-Mega, Hoopa-U, and Greninja can all pose a threat. Now, most of these Pokemon can actually be handled by Meloetta. For example, Gyardos-Mega not carrying Crunch will lose to Meloetta, Hoopa-U not running Darkinium Z, fast Choice Band, or Choice Scarf will lose to Meloetta, and Greninja running the common Choice Specs set loses to Meloetta. However, these Pokemon can carry certain moves or items to beat Meloetta. Gyarados-Mega can run Crunch to beat Meloetta, Hoopa-U can run Darkium, fast Choice Band, or Physical Choice Scarf, and Greninja can run Darkinium Z + Modest to OHKO Physically Defensive Meloetta. Greninja can also run Shadow Sneak to play mind games and come out with the win.

**Stall Pokemon**: There are two stall Pokemon in particular that pose a threat to Meloetta. Those would be Stall Mew, and Deoxys-S. They both are much faster than Meloetta and can use Taunt or Amnesia. If Mew or Deoxys-S isn't running a lot of special bulk or don't Taunt turn one then Meloetta can sometime get away with a first turn Laser Focus, then OHKO Mew or Deoxys-S. This is relied on basically a 50/50. Another Stall Pokemon that gives Meloetta trouble is a Toxic Chansey that uses Soft-Boiled correctly. This can be played around at times, but it isn't ever an easy win.

  • In ORAS 1v1 Meloetta was generally better in viability and usage then in USUM.However,this is not an ORAS analysis,and consequently you will have to remove this part.
  • Don't let that deteriorate you, however.It is generally not recommended to use comments in an analysis. With the release of Z-Moves, Meloetta is still able to reek havoc in the current 1v1 Metagame.I'm not sure about this phrasing
  • Meloetta has a solid typing of Normal / Psychic, only having two weaknesses: Bug and Dark(Mega Gyarados?),both of which are not very common typings in the 1v1 Metagame.
  • Meloetta is generally played as Offensively Bulky, but has the speed that it can play a Fast Offense too.I don't think this section is needed.
  • Meloetta has a solid stat-line, 100 HP, 77 Defense, 128 Special Attack, 128 Special Defense, and 90 Speed. With Meloetta's great stat-line it can run a Defensive style set and still dish out big damage. Since it has the natural bulk to live many hits, it can also run a full Offensive set to deal as much damage as possible.
  • The point of this section is to generally talk about the Pokemon's strengths and weaknesses (first the strengths,then the weaknesses).You might have to write it all over.

Moves
========

  • Hyper Beam allows for the most powerful Z-Move possibls. It's Meloetta's main STAB move and with the-a Normalium Z it can OHKO many Pokemon that don't resist Normal typing or are EV invested.
  • Calm Mind allows Meloetta to set up vs opponents. With its great Special Defense it can tank multiple hits while boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense at the same time,which allows it to beat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Primarina, Tapu Fini, Magearna (Laser Focus set)-with Laser Focuz, Heatran, and even Aegislash if not carrying Metal Sound+Flash Cannon.
  • Psyshock is another great STAB move for Meloetta to have. Psyshock allows Meloetta to take on weird-this adjective isn't needed Poison-types such as Nihilego and Gengar-Mega. It is great to have versus other Special Defense boosting Pokemon. When you're in a Special Stat boosting war, it's handy to be able to Psyshock your opponent's Pokemon as their Physical Defense stat has not been boosted. Thus, dealing more damage because of Pyshock's mechanics.
  • Shadow Ball is nice to have versus mainly Ghost-types such as Aegislash or Sableye-Mega While Shadow Ball is a generally nice move to have,Aegislash loses to Calm Mind Psyshock (unless Steelium-Z Metal Sound in which case it wins anyway),and Mega Sableye can Snarl over and over to slowly defeat Meloetta. It also helps as a better option verse other Psychic-type Pokemon you play against. It is pretty handy to have so most Steel-types can't reliably wall you.
  • Uproar is used for Substitute Pokemon like Whimsicott, Jumpluff, Substitute Charizard-Mega X and Y, Landorus-Therian, and even Pinsir-Mega. The only drawback of this move is you're locked into it for three turns explain how Uproar prevents sleep too and that this is the reason why you are using it over Hyper Voice (because otherwise Hyper Voice is far superior on a non choice-locked set
  • Laser Focus is a very fun and useful move. Laser Focus can be used on other set up Pokemon so that when you're both done setting up, you hit them with a Laser Focus and it makes your next move automatically crit. It is very useful for set up Pokemon like Magearna, Stall Mew, and Calm Mind Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini.
  • Trick Room is really only used for Charizard-Mega X and Y. It is basically to scout Substitute and play according off of that. Trick Room also helps reliably beat Mega Slowbro how?
Set Details

  • Normalium Z is the best item for Meloetta in the current 1v1 Metagame.
  • 204 HP + 252 Def is used mainly to tank Lopunny-Mega's Adamant Fake Out + Giga Impact. It also allows it to survive Landorus-Therian's Tectonic Rage, Donphan's Tectonic Rage + Ice Shard, Pinsir-Mega's Giga Impact, Garchomp's Tectonic Rage / Devastating Drake, and so much more.
  • The Timid nature + 16 Speed allows Meloetta to outpace Max Speed Magnezone, giving it a somewhat favorable match up. It also outpaces "Meta" Zygarde sets, and "Meta" Tapu Fini sets. The rest of the evs are put into Special Attack.
  • 252 HP + 132 SpD allows Meloetta to tank a Charizard-Mega Y's Modest Blast Burn. The rest of the EVs are put into Special Attack to maximize the roll to OHKO uninvested Mega Charizard Y. This Specially Defensive Meloetta set deals with Magnezone much better.
Usage Tips
========

  • Meloetta is a good pick versus frail Pokemon as it can soak up hits and OHKO most frail Pokemon that Breakneck Blitz hits.
  • Meloetta can safely beat common physical threats by tanking their attacks and OHKOing with Breakneck Blitz.
  • Meloetta has other moves such as Uproar that can defeat Substitute Pokemon that want to block your Breakneck Blitz.
  • Keep in mind that in every matchup Meloetta will either fire of a Breakneck Blitz, set up Calm Minds, or use the occasional Trick Room first.
Team Options
========

  • Meloetta struggles versus most Steel-type and Rock-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Aggron, and Genesect, Golem, Crustle, and Tyranitar-Mega. Ground-types are solid teammates for Meloetta such as Zygarde-C or Landorus-Therian.

It also stuggles versus Pokemon that can tank multiple hits due to their ability, these Pokemon include the likes of Mimikyu and Dragonite. This is why Gyarados-Mega would make a solid partner out of what you mentioned,Gyarados-Mega only reliably beats Dragonite
  • Steel-types in general also make solid partners for Meloetta,beating the likes of Mimikyu and fast plus strong special attacker like Gardevoir-Mega.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Meloetta can run a Choice Specs set and a even more niche Choice Scarf set.
  • Choice Specs was ran with success in ORAS 1v1, while still a solid set, it isn't what it used to be since the introduction of USUM again this is not a "Meloetta over the generations" article. Common moves on Specs Meloetta are Hyper Beam, Uproar, Psychic / Pyshock, Hidden Power Fire, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, and Trick. Specs Meloetta usually ran a simple set of 252 HP and 252 SpA. It was good for breaking Pokemon like Slowbro-Mega with ease.reminder to also remove the past tense when you change that
  • Scarf Meloetta is very uncommon and is used as a niche type set. Scarf allowed it to beat Pokemon like Tapu Koko (when it wasn't banned), Charizard-Mega X without having to predict, and even Lopunny-Mega. Choice Scarf runs the same set as Choice Specs would.
  • I personally believe that Choice Specs does have to be included as a second set.Even if you disagree however,you will have to mention why those sets aren't viable in your opinion.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: I'm referring to Meloetta's Z move set Don't use I-form in an analysis
Pokemon like Metagross-Mega, Aggron-Mega, Mawile-Mega, Genesect and Ferrothorn wall Meloetta completely (you will only have to specify that you are talking about the Z-Move set if you add a Choice Specs set)

Gyarados-Mega, Sableye-Mega, Hoopa-U, and rarely Greninja Greninja is more common than both Hoopa-U and Sableye-Mega,but at the same time it also cannot possibly defeat Meloetta without Darkinium-Z or Shadow Sneak,you even mention it yourself later can all pose a threat. Now, most of these Pokemon can actually be handled by Meloetta. For example, Gyardos-Mega not carrying Crunch will lose to Meloetta, Hoopa-U not running Darkinium Z, fast Choice Band, or Physical Choice Scarf will lose to Meloetta, and Greninja running the common Choice Specs set loses to Meloetta. However, these Pokemon can carry certain moves or items to beat Meloetta. Gyarados-Mega can run Crunch to beat Meloetta, Hoopa-U can run Darkium, fast Choice Banded, or Physical Choice Scarf, and Greninja can run Darkinium Z + Modest to OHKO Physically Defensive Meloetta. You are repeating yourself here,I believe you should rephrase this section.

**Stall Pokemon**: There are two stall Pokemon in particular that have been increasing in use, those would be Stall Mew, and Deoxys-S. They both are much faster than Meloetta and can fire of a Taunt or Amnesia "fire off" is usually used referring to an attack. If Mew or Deoxys-S isn't running a lot of special bulk or don't Taunt turn 1 then Meloetta can sometime get away with a first turn Laser Focus, then OHKO Mew or Deoxys-S. This is relied on basically a 50/50. Another Stall Pokemon that gives Meloetta trouble is a well played Toxic Chansey that uses Soft-Boiled correctly. What I mean by well played is Chansey recovers its HP at the right times. remove the underlined sections This can be played around at times, but it isn't ever an easy win

I had a few comments though.
Running Shadow Ball on Meloetta is a guaranteed win against Aegislash, even if Metal Sound. I'll show you a scenario:
Turn 1: Meloetta uses CM, Aegislash uses MS. End of Turn 1: Melo is a -1 SpD, but at +1 SpA
Turn 2: Meloetta uses CM, Aegislash uses Metal Sound. End of Turn 2: Melo is now at -2 SpD, but at +2 SpA
Turn 3: Meloetta uses Shadow Ball, Aegislash uses Flash Cannon.
+2 36 SpA Meloetta Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 206-244 (63.5 - 75.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Flash Cannon vs. -2 204 HP / 0 SpD Meloetta: 258-304 (65.8 - 77.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
"Greninja is more common than both Hoopa-U and Sableye-Mega,but at the same time it also cannot possibly defeat Meloetta without Darkinium-Z or Shadow Sneak" What I meant was Greninja can "rarely" beat Meloetta if it runs Darkinium Z. Not that it isn't used much. I reworded it.
For the Specs Meloetta set I included it on "Other Options" I was following what other analyses makers did, adding other Pokemon's good set to that section instead of repeating the steps of making another set. If that isn't okay I'll gladly make an extra set for Specs.

I believe I did mention I was talking about Steelium-Z Aegislash.
Also,I thought it was obvious that you are allowed to repeat the steps to add a second set if you think it's good enough.
I personally think you should do it but it's up to you.
Also I don't see anything implemented tbh.
Last but not least,a small clarification:here I meant "Hyper Beam allows for the most powerful Z-Move possible",but I said possibls

Moves
========

  • Hyper Beam allows for the most powerful Z-Move possible. It's Meloetta's main STAB move and with a Normalium Z it can OHKO many Pokemon that don't resist Normal typing or are EV invested isn't every Pokemon EV invested?.
  • Calm Mind allows Meloetta to set up vs opponents. With its great Special Defense it can tank multiple hits while boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense at the same time, which allows it to beat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Primarina, Tapu Fini, Magearna with if running Laser Focus, Heatran, and even Aegislash if it is not running Steelium-Z + Metal Sound.
  • Psyshock is another great STAB move for Meloetta to have. Psyshock allows Meloetta to take on Poison-types such as Nihilego and Gengar-Mega. It is great to have versus other Special Defense boosting Pokemon. When you're in a Special Stat boosting war, it's handy to be able to Psyshock your opponent's Pokemon as their Physical Defense stat has not been boosted. Thus, dealing more damage because of Pyshock's mechanics.
  • Shadow Ball is nice to have versus mainly Ghost-types such as Aegislash that doesn't run Steelium-Z + Metal Sound or Snarl Sableye-Mega. It also helps as a better option verse other Psychic-type Pokemon and versus some Steel-types like Aggron-Mega.
  • Uproar is used for Substitute Pokemon like Whimsicott, Jumpluff, Whimsicott, Substitute + Flail Lopunny-Mega, Substitute Charizard-Mega X and Y, Landorus-Therian, and even Pinsir-Mega. The perk of running Uproar over Hyper Voice is it doesn't allow your opponent to use a sleep-inducing move on you or heal up with Rest. The only drawback of this move is you're locked into it for three turns.
Trick Room also helps reliably beat Mega Slowbro.
  • Hidden Power Fire is used to beat threats such as Ferrothorn, and Genesect. Meloetta doesn't have a guaranteed win against Genesect and only the Specially Defensive set should run Hidden Power Fire for Genesect.

Usage Tips
========

  • Meloetta matches up well versus 1v1's dominant special attacking Pokemon like Magearna, Tapu Lele, Magnezone, Porygon-Z, Aegislash, Primarina, and Tapu Fini. It can easily tank multiple hits and set up in their face, while the opposing Pokemon can't do anything about it.

========

  • Meloetta struggles versus most Steel-type and Rock-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Aggron, and Genesect, Golem, Crustle, and Tyranitar-Mega. For this reason,Ground-types are solid teammates for Meloetta such as Zygarde-C or Landorus-Therian.
  • Meloetta is weak to Dark and Bug-type Pokemon. Some examples of these would be Gyarados-Mega, Genesect, Volcarona, and Sableye-Mega. Pokemon like Calm Mind Fini or Bulky Charizard-Mega X could be helpful.
  • Meloetta is defeated by faster stall Pokemon such as Deoxys-S and Mew. It also stuggles versus Pokemon that can tank multiple hits due to their ability, these Pokemon include the likes of Mimikyu and Dragonite. This is why Flame Charge + Swords Dance Charizard-Mega X would make a solid partner.
  • Steel-types in general also make solid partners for Meloetta, beating the likes of Mimikyu and fast plus strong special attacker like Gardevoir-Mega.

Other Options
=============

  • Choice Specs - Choice Specs Meloetta is a very common and good set. It's still very effective and comes and is almost as good as Normalium Z Meloetta, but is slightly less effective in beating threats than the Normalium Z set. Common moves on Specs Meloetta are Hyper Beam, Uproar, Psychic / Pyshock, Hidden Power Fire, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, and Trick. Specs Choice Specs Meloetta can beat both Genesect and Venusaur-Mega easier than Normalium Z. Choice Specs Meloetta can tank a Genesects Choice Specs Bug Buzz and OHKO back with a Hidden Power Fire. While Normalium Z Meloetta can still beats most Venusaur-Megas, Choice Specs has a much easier time. Instead of faster Venusaur-Mega spreads getting sleep rolls and Sludge Bombing + Leech Seeding Meloetta to death, Choice Specs can simply spam Uproar to not be put to sleep or spam Psyshock to beat the uncommon Amnesia Venusaur-Mega In any case Psyshock should be the better option,since Venusaur can't really touch you even if it puts you to sleep.Also you should explain why you think this set is subpar.
  • Scarf Meloetta is very uncommon and is used as a niche type set. Scarf allowed it to beat Pokemon like Tapu Koko (when it wasn't banned) I don't think Tapu Koko needs a mention, Charizard-Mega X without having to predict, and even Lopunny-Mega and even non-Choice Scarfed Durant. Choice Scarf runs the moves set as Choice Specs Meloetta would Again,why is this set subpar?.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stall Pokemon**: There are two stall Pokemon in particular that have been increasing in use this analysis will stay,so I don't think you should mention stuff about the current metagame, those would be Stall Mew, and Deoxys-S.

-Mention why is Normalium-Z the best item on Meloetta
-I'd remove "meta" and just write standard

Usage Tips
-Mention atleast 2 examples for each bullet point. frail Pokemon such as? Example of common physical threats?

qc 2/3

AM QC incoming-
[OVERVIEW]

  • Meloetta has a solid typing of Normal / Psychic, only having two weaknesses: Bug-types and Dark-types, both of which are not very common typings in the 1v1 Metagame.
(Since this line does not add much information to the overall analysis, can you just remove this, and incorporate the EVs wherever the tanking has been mentioned, like mentioning "Meloetta's 100HP/77 Def, with proper investment enables it to tank powerful attacks like.... ")
  • Meloetta can tank strong attacks from the tiers metagame's most powerful Pokemon like Landorus-Therian's Tectonic Rage, Kartana's Bloom Doom, Lopunny-Mega's Fake Out + Giga Impact, and even Donphan's Tectonic Rage + Ice Shard. (I'd also include some powerful Special Attacks there here, like Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Blast Burn)
  • Meloetta does have the down side of losing to some of the most common offensive threats such as Snorlax, Mimikyu, Physical Dragonite, and Metagross-Mega.
  • (Mention how its Speed makes it the target of strats like Curse Mimikyu, SubSeed Jumpluff and PP stall Deoxys-S)

Moves
========

  • Hyper Beam allows for the most powerful Z-Move possible. It's Meloetta's main STAB move and with a Normalium Z it can OHKO many Pokemon that don't resist Normal typing.. (Give few examples here of Pokemon that it can defeat while not being boosted)
  • Calm Mind allows Meloetta to set up vs opponents. With its great Special Defense it can tank multiple hits while boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense at the same time, which allows it to beat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Primarina, Tapu Fini, Magearna if running Laser Focus, Heatran, and even Aegislash if it is not running Steelium-Z + Metal Sound.
  • Psyshock is another great STAB move for Meloetta to have. Psyshock allows Meloetta to take on Poison-types such as Nihilego and Gengar-Mega. It is great to have versus other Special Defense boosting Pokemon. When you're in a Special Stat boosting war match, it's handy to be able to Psyshock your opponent's Pokemon as their Physical Defense stat has might not been boosted,(RP and AC) Tthus, dealing more damage because of Pyshock's mechanics.
  • Shadow Ball is nice to have versus mainly Ghost-types such as Aegislash that doesn't run Steelium-Z + Metal Sound or Snarl Sableye-Mega. It also helps as a better option verse other Psychic-type Pokemon (give examples here) and versus some Steel-types like Aggron-Mega.
  • Uproar is used for Substitute Pokemon like Whimsicott, Jumpluff, Whimsicott, Substitute + Flail Lopunny-Mega, Substitute Charizard-Mega X and Y, Landorus-Therian, and even Pinsir-Mega. The perk of running Uproar over Hyper Voice is it doesn't allow your opponent to use a sleep-inducing move on you or heal up with Rest (RC) The only drawback of this move is though you're locked into it for three turns.
  • Laser Focus is a very useful move. (You could also mention here that Z-Laser Focus has the potential to beat PP stall Deoxys-S)
Set Details
========

  • Normalium Z is the best item for Meloetta because it is able to OHKO things that Choice Specs Meloetta can(I think you meant cannot) like Landorus-Therian, while also being able to set up, and take strong attacks like Lopunny-Mega's Fake Out + Giga Impact.
  • 204 HP + 252 Defense is used mainly to tank Lopunny-Mega's Adamant Fake Out + Giga Impact.
It also outpaces standard Zygarde-C sets, (RC) and "Meta" Tapu Fini sets. The rest of the evs are put into Special Attack. (Since you haven't finished explaining the defensive EVs at this point, this line is not suitable here)
  • 252 HP + 132 SpD allows Meloetta to tank a Charizard-Mega Y's Modest Blast Burn. The rest of the EVs are put into Special Attack to maximize the roll to OHKO uninvested Mega Charizard Y. This Specially Defensive Meloetta set deals with Magnezone much better.
  • The rest of the EVs are invested into Special Attack

Usage Tips
========

  • Meloetta is a good pick versus frail Pokemon like Porygon-Z and Naganadel as it can soak up hits and OHKO it with a Breakneck Blitz.
  • Meloetta matches up well against common physical threats like Landorus-Therian, Donphan, and even Zygarde-C. (Since Donphan has the supposed favorable match-up against Meloetta, wouldn't it be better if you write "Landorus-T, Zygarde-C, and even Donphan)
  • Meloetta has other moves such as Uproar that can defeat Substitute Pokemon like Landorus-Therian and Pinsir-Mega that want to block your Breakneck Blitz. (Rephrase this to say that you can bring this against common Substitute users like Landorus-T and Mega Pinsir if you have Uproar as one of your moves, since you have not mentioned Uproar as a must-have option)
  • Meloetta has a straight foward playstyle.

========

  • Meloetta struggles versus most Steel-type and Rock-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Aggron, and Genesect, Golem, Crustle, and Tyranitar-Mega. For this reason, Ground-types are solid teammates for Meloetta such as Zygarde-C or Landorus-Therian.
  • Meloetta is weak to Dark- (AH) and Bug-type Pokemon.

=============

  • Choice Specs - Choice Specs Meloetta is a very common and good set. It's still very effective and comes and is almost as good as Normalium Z Meloetta, but is slightly less effective in beating threats than the Normalium Z set(Provide examples here). Instead of faster Venusaur-Mega spreads getting sleep rolls and Sludge Bombing + Leech Seeding Meloetta to death, Choice Specs can simply spam Psyshock to beat any Venusaur-Mega set. Meloetta's Normalium Z set can simply beat more Pokemon then its Choice Specs set. That is probably the major drawback of Choice Specs not being as good as Normalium Z.
  • Scarf Meloetta is very uncommon and is used as a niche type set. Scarf allowed it to beat Pokemon like Charizard-Mega X without having to predict, Lopunny-Mega and even non-Choice Scarfed Durant. Choice Scarf runs the moves set as Choice Specs Meloetta would. Choice Scarf Meloetta is not beating near as much as a Normalium-Z set or Choice Specs set. Choice Scarf doesn't even beat Pokemon that Meloetta should (remove italicized text) be beating like Primarina and Tapu Fini. It's overall a very gimmicky set.
  • Trick Room is usually only handy for Charizard-Mega X and Y, and Slowbro-Mega.
  • Hidden Power Fire is used to beat threats such as Ferrothorn, and Genesect. Meloetta doesn't have a guaranteed win against Genesect and only the Specially Defensive set should run Hidden Power Fire for Genesect. Hidden Power Fire is much better on a Choice Specs Meloetta set rather than a Normalium Z set.
  • (If at all, you could add RestSnore as an Other Option; ryyjyywyy and another dude I forgot uses/used it to devastating effect)
