Gross Sweep
Plan Ahead
Meowth @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SpA / 36 SpD / 196 Spe
IVs: 9 HP
Hasty Nature
- Fake Out
- Feint
- Aerial Ace
- Water Pulse / Hidden Power Fighting
Everyone’s favorite Team Rocket member is not just a beloved character in the anime, it is also a solid threat in the metagame. Meowth is a great revenge killer thanks to Technician-boosted double priority in Fake Out and Feint, allowing Meowth to handle common threats like Caravanha, Abra, and Zigzagoon. Without priority, Meowth is still fast, reaching a maximum Speed of 19, which allows it to outpace most of the unboosted metagame and Speed tie with threats like Abra, Wingull, and Ponyta. Meowth can also serve as a functional anti-lead, being able to threaten common leads such as Mienfoo and Onix with its combination of Fake Out and coverage moves. Fighting-types with priority like Timburr and Croagunk are very threatening to Meowth, so teammates that can switch into these like Spritzee and Mudsbray are great. Meowth is also a very frail Pokemon that enjoys teammates with access to Volt Switch and U-turn like Magnemite and Vullaby, which can help it gain safe entrance to the field.
