Sacrifice-mons
Do you want to combine abilities, items and movepools together onto one pokemon? Do you feel limited by other metagames, unable to make the ultimate pokemon... Now you can, but it requires sacrifices! You can designate pokemon on your team as sacrifices and their abilities, movepools and items will benefit the pokemon in the first slot! This can allow you to put your eggs in one basket... if you're happy to risk it...
Rules:
Mechanic: Pokemon that are nicknamed: "sacrifice" start the battle with 0 hp, but their moves are available to the pokemon in slot 1 of your party in addition to its original moves and other sacrifices, and they also have the sacrificed pokemon's items and abilities as well - there is no limit to the number of pokemon sacrificeable.
Clauses: Standard OMs, Sleep Moves Clause, Evasion Clause, Terastal Clause, OHKO Clause.
Bans: Items: Razor fang, King's rock, Bright powder. Abilities: Stench, Serene grace, Trapping abilities, neutralising gas. Moves: Baton pass, Last respects. Pokemon: probably most mons with high base stats.
Things unable to be sacrificed: Moves: revival blessing (other op moves depending on their severity). pokemon: (?) Abilities: good as gold
(Showdown limits on the number of moves may force a limit on the number of sacrifices allowed.)
Strategy:
By having a pokemon that can have more than one ability and more than 4 moves it can prove quite versatile, for example, putting setup moves like sticky web, tailwind and others on a bulkier mon that could survive long enough to use those moves. Or putting extra tech options such as heavy duty boots and regenerator on a super bulky mon with hazard removal and pivoting options.
Utility-stacking:
Putting lots of utility moves from a frail sacrifice onto one bulky mon can let it come in, set the pace of battle and leave when it has done its job.
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Baneful Bunker
- Haze
- Toxic Spikes
- Toxic
Grafaiai is sacrificed here for its ability and pivoting moves as well as some utility that toxapex doesn't usually get.
Grafaiai @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
- Parting Shot
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Super Fang
Weather-specialists.
Using weather setting abilities and speed boosts can make a potent combo (like in other OMs). For example Cetitan can set its own snow to outspeed all other mons, then use aurora veil to boost its bulk, and then use belly drum to set up for a sweep. - adding an additional mon for snow body and recovery could make this a near invincible wall and sweeper - unless your opponent has brought the right counter!
Cetitan @ Focus Sash
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
Abomasnow is sacrificed here as its base stats and typing are worse than Cetitan's.
Abomasnow @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Warning
- Ice Spinner
- Icicle Spear
- Aurora Veil
- Brick Break
Q&A:
Q: Can you revive the sacrifices with revival blessing as they start with 0hp?
A: Yes, but revival blessing cannot be on a sacrificed mon to avoid PP shenanigans.
Q: Can items, abilities or moves stack?
A: No, unless they have different names. Scope lens and razor claw stack, but 3 lum-berries do not.
Q: How do things like knock-off, skill swap or neutralising gas work?
A: They only affect the pokemon's original abilities, the abilities and item-effects acquired from sacrifices can't be removed, however the moves can be disabled, taunted or imprisoned (e.g by cursed body).
Questions for you:
What do you think could be overpowered that I might have missed?
What sets do you think would be interesting?
Should sacrifices be able to apply to mons other than the one in the first slot?
Please forgive me if a similar idea has been suggested like this.
