Media Metalheads Thread III

Apparently Mastodon is nearly done recording their new album.

Anybody here listen to Violent Soho? They're a really good Australian Rock band that I've liked for quite some time, and after seeing them live i can safely say that they're one of the my favorite bands and are probably my favorite band that is still together. I'll leave a link for anyone interested

the new Hexis album is fucking evil.
trooly a brootal record :toast: i liked it!

found a one-man folk/symphonic/melodic black metal band called Dark Forest, whose Aurora Borealis was really good, and i just found out he's scheduled to put something out on the 28th.

man this will be a great year for metal

hey guise it's my brother's birthday in a few days and i was meaning to present him with a motorhead or acdc dvd. which would you recomend?

EDIT:
ok to be on topic here's stuff i like a lot: dream theater, rush, santana, kiss, queen, bacamarte, vg music, beatles, santa esmeralda, black sabbath, elvis, deep purple, ccr.

to expand on vg music a bit these are my favorite osts: chrono trigger, chrono cross, golden sun, golden sun 2, okami. fallout series gets a special mention for introducing our generation to a few awesome artists we'd never hear of other wise such as the ink spots and roy brown.

like to varying degrees: kc and the sunshine band, abba, boston, eagles, america, pantera, gorillaz, steppenwolf.

want to test out: backlog is huge mostly due to individual songs my brother forces me to hear that aren't actually shit and influences on some of my favorite bands but of note are sonata artica, early prog (yes, floyd...), night ranger, rainbow, the last one of the holy trinity (led zep).

don't really like but dont hate either: megadeth and similar.

hate: anything even remotely similar to dragonforce and cannibal corpse.

you tell me how much of a metalhead i am.

If you hate anything similar to Dragonforce, I don't think you'll enjoy the early Sonata Arctica stuff too much.
Also Megadeth are the best band ever, come on :/.

The new Behemoth was quite good.

Requesting something from Hexis!!! they kinda rule
haven't listened to Behemoth yet, but it's in queue.

you better believe you'll hear some Hexis.

not this week though, i've had my first set ready for like a month now, so some of the newer stuff i'm finding won't be present.

ok.

now answer my previous questions really its important :[

i think Motorhead and AC/DC are both shit.

actually i think most of what you list in that post are shit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ummm...try this?

EDIT: here's a few more tracks to sample:

Well, early SA is power/speed, so I really think you won't like the first 2 albums. SA is one of my favorite bands, so I think I know what I'm talking about :P.
Also Megadeth are like totally amazing, are you sure you just haven't heard some shit from the last album or something?

While it might sound weird at the beginning, after extensive listening to the band, I can't imagine any other singer in there. Mustaine's voice really fits the music, and it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Well I'm biased, so I think you understand why I can't agree with that :). Megadeth and Metallica went into such different directions that I don't think you could change the vocalist in either without significantly affecting the overall quality.
In the end, only someone who hasn't heard either of the bands before could judge that, because obviously we both have our preferences which cloud our judgment :).

live at river plate is a pleasant suggestion because i don't need to order it. still, motorhead is my brother's favorite band so if anyone wants to recommend something from them i'm all ears. also guys stop saying motorhead or acdc sucks. it is ultimately irrelevant because the purchase isn't even for myself so i'd appreciate if you stopped.

i believe what you said about SA. i mentioned it because i thought a couple individual tracks i was forced to listen to weren't even bad. now about megadeth being the best band ever, i believe the only full album i listened to was the one with mr torture which if i recall correctly was alright but not my cup of tea.

rust in peace is my favorite album from megadeth. as much as i rag on them for mustaine's shitty voice/being overrated, i do like them every now and then. countdown to extinction is also cool, i'd say get those.

also last year's aftershock was way better than what i expected from motorhead, for what that's worth.
