MS SQL 2005 was a huge improvement over previous versions of MS SQL, and I expect 2008 to be even better. Visual Studio 2008 is very powerful and has been out for a while now. I don't really know anything about Windows Server 2008, but it looks like it really improved everything that was wrong with Windows Server 2003 (which was a whole lot, so many features were lackluster/missing).

So if you are into programming/servers, you should totally go. This is an estimated ~$2000 of free software.
 
Visual Studio is probably the greatest IDE known to man for C++. I don't really care too much for MS SQL/Windows Server when stuff like MySQL/Postgres and FreeBSD is around though. Microsoft has never been really strong on the "server" side

That's pretty awesome that they just give away this shit though. I might go.
 
if anyone REALLY wanted me to get it for them in Dallas or San Antonio, then I could see if there is a concert in one of those two cities around that time to make it worth my while!
 
I don't really have any use for Windows software but even if I wanted to get the free swag, it seems that Montreal's event is already full.

Also don't get any of their cups. I've seen one explode :(
