Missing link?

*shrugs i couldnt care less about this to tell you guys the truth, im am christian though i dont care if someone is atheist or not this isnt affecting my faith at all lol

Still waiting on one of you evolutionists to explain how the puddle of seething soup of chemicals simply popped into existence on its own and the foundation that it laid upon.

That puddle of chemicals must've really been quite a genius, to think to itself one day "Gee, I'm tired of being a puddle of nothing. I think I'll become intelligent life. It might take awhile, like maybe "millions of years", but by golly, I'll figure it out. One of these days I'm going to become a human, and I'm going to be intelligent"

Science can't explain everything because all it does is fall into another wall of mystery.

What is the smallest particle? An atom? what about what created an atom; quarks? What are quarks made of?

Obviously the puddle failed in making entirely intelligent human life.
Incidentally, I've yet to see a religious person explain everything behind their holy scripture/way the world works.

Being Christian does not preclude you from accepting the theory of evolution. I think Francis Collins wrote a book about this.

i didnt say it does but this dosent mean your forced to agree
besides i dont get why people just love bringing up contriversal topics every forum has this, in my opinion (i know you guys wont agree)this is a no win arguement. atheists cant convince evryone that evolution is real and in turn christians and other religons cant make all other religons and atheists convert to their religon its not worth wasteing time argueing about. if you guys want to just talk about this stuff im sure theres entire sites that are devoted to these topics lol

So whats the deal with this thing being found in Germany? Would that mean that it isn't actually an ancestor of humans?

The ancestry of simians as a whole is probably from North America, as per Carpolestes and I think Purgatorius is from N.A. too. This group spread around and the rise of primates appears to have been in Europe. This group, as successful as it is, spread across the globe to give rise to apes apparently in Africa (Aegyptopithecus) and then Homonids in East Africa.

So no, it doesn't mean that at all. This is why you need to actually understand what you are looking at before making hasty conclusions.

Pokepaw, honestly nobody cares if you believe in fossils or not. Nobody cares if you believe this to be a silly topic because frankly, this topic is about the legitimate discovery of a fossil and not about your completely irrelevant opinions about it.

Time for conflicting statements!

First, you say that evolution and Christianity don't necessarily conflict, but then you pit atheistic evolutionists against Christian creationists. I really would love for you to clarify.

Oh, interesting. My knowledge of simian evolution goes back only about 2.5 million years, ala anthropology 101, so was in the "out of Africa" mindset. Until I read what you just said, I thought this German monkey thing smelled like another "Piltdown Man".

Piltdown man is from an age gone by in science to be honest. The only mistakes like that that are made these days are by places like National Geographic when they rush to publish something before researchers get their hands on the actual specimen.

It's obviously just a set-up by the Godless Left to trick children into having abortions and gay sex.

Whoops. I was channeling DK for a moment.

I think it's a significant breakthrough mostly because it is so amazingly intact. They even discovered that she ate fruit and leaves! How adorable.

GG evolution.

Hmmm... a theoretical primate who engages in mindless taunting to substitute for actual intelligence, self-identified as found in glacial structures.

Ladies and gentlemen it appears the missing link is revealed before our very eyes. It's the only living human protoform.

Is this shit going to go through the whole Lucy saga again? Hype is hype, adaptation is real, and quite frankly its rather irrelevant to get into petty fucking flamewars like 'ol one-track here.

Religion addresses morality, science addresses nature. lets keep those two things separate, shall we?

Just because you don't believe in God and National Geographic posts some evolution porn does not give you free reign to be a massive dick.

Hammurabi would argue that morality isn't tied to religion necessarily, and the twisted morality in some religions certainly isn't cool either, but yeah other than that great post DK.

Why keep them? All it takes is for it to be a small hinderance, or no longer helpful for it to be selected against.

Well if you chose to accept evolution, humans as a species has undergone adaption to remove unnecessary body parts.
Hmmm, looks like we'll only have 8 toes soon enough. :O

Tetrapods actually originally had around 8 toes.

We've also almost abolished most of our caecum, we call it an appendix. The only reason we have it is to re-establish our gut fauna if/when it is killed off.

Hmmm I was going to say the appendix. But I'm sure my biology teacher mentioned some out there use it has, apart from almost killing us! Something about creating useful bacteria for our intestines iirc?

Yeah it defends good intestinal bacteria in situations where they might be in danger of being wiped out by a disease. It has infection-fighting lymphoid cells, which leads biologists to consider it part of the immune system. But it was designed by God's retarded second son, which is why seven percent of people experience appendicitis.

I see. But there is no reason to be so sacrilegious about it. It would be so much easier if people didn't try to impose their views on others.

You are quite clearly unbelieving in religion, but to be so open about being against it you are being incredibly hypocritical as in essence you are doing the same as the people you chose not to accept, who preach to others about believing in god.

I'm quite firmly atheist but I would never dispute the existence of a 'god,' as everyone has the right to believe what we think is right.

What it comes down to is; unless there is definite proof, neither us, the scientifically minded folk, nor those who chose to believe in a divine power are necessarily right or wrong. Though this does take a step toward evolution. :D

Yeah, I understand, but I have extremely intense views about religion. Religion essentially used to be "science." But as a definite, empirical science emerged, religion turned into a primary tool of perpetuating ignorance and suppressing class consciousness. Don't bother arguing with me about this, because it will go on and on and on. Not a good conversation to have online, nonetheless on a forum.

Damn I always hate how I sound when I say stuff like that. Makes me feel like a South Park hippie.... YOUR PROFESSORS WILL OPEN YOUR MIND, MAN!

Match the bolded parts, I answered it before you even asked.
