Metagame SV Mix n' Boosted

Mix n' Boosted

What is Mix n' Boosted?

Mix n' Boosted is a mashup of Mix and Mega and Bad n' Boosted, where stat modifications from Mix and Mega apply first. This means that any of your custom megas with a stat of 70 or less will have that stat doubled by Bad n' Boosted, leading to some very high BSTs! This leads to a powerful metagame with a high amount of variability, encouraging creativity in teambuilding. Because stat changes from Mix and Mega apply first, Sablenite Skarmory, for example, has base stats 130/90/190/120/120/80.

Diancite

Diancite is far and away the best mega stone in this format, as its usual drawback (lowered defenses) can be used to lower middling stats below 71, letting them be doubled. Diancite also boosts most quick Pokémon beyond the base 140 speed threshold, allowing them to avoid common speed ties. Because of this, it is often a valid teambuilding strategy to pick a Diancite user and build around them. Some of the best users include:
  • :iron-crown: Iron Crown: (90/132/120/182/136/158) - Powerful Calm Mind sweeper
  • :darkrai: Darkrai: (140/150/100/195/100/185) - Immediate power with strong Sucker Punch priority
  • :tyranitar: Tyranitar: (100/194/140/155/120/121) - Dragon Dancer who needs no speed investment
  • :rotom-wash: Rotom formes: (100/125/134/165/134/146) - Bulky, Fast, Strong, with access to Nasty Plot, Will-o-Wisp, and Volt Switch
  • :mew: Base 100 legendaries: (100/160/120/160/120/160) - Mew: Dragon Dance or Nasty Plot with perfect coverage
  • :gholdengo: Gholdengo: (87/120/110/193/102/144) - Incredible wallbreaker with Nasty Plot + Make it Rain
  • :zarude: Zarude: (105/180/130/130/110/165) - Threatening Bulk Up sweeper
  • :terrakion: Terrakion: (91/189/100/132/100/168) - Swords Dance hole-puncher
  • :kyurem: Kyurem: (125/190/100/190/100/155) - High set versatility
Some more niche users include
  • :keldeo: Keldeo: (91/132/100/189/100/168) - Limited coverage and accuracy
  • :hydreigon: Hydreigon: (92/165/100/185/100/158) - Largely outclassed by Darkrai and Tyranitar
  • :sandy-shocks: Sandy Shocks: (85/141/114/181/90/161) - Poor Coverage, but access to hazards
  • :heatran: Heatran: (91/150/132/190/132/137) - Sub-140 speed is a tragedy
  • :dragapult: Dragapult: (88/180/70/160/70/202) - Very frail, but extremely fast

Forgive me for posting this unfinished, I just don't have that much free time right now. I'll come back and edit it when I can!

While we still don't know any of the ZA abilities (potential exception to starmie), I'd like to throw out some theorymons:

Zygardite
Holy nuke potential
  • :Deoxys-speed: I mean surely this ball of stats with nasty plot cant be bad, right?
  • :Dudunsparce: Boomburst goes crazy
  • :Exeggutor: Potentially good with growth in sun? Its coverage sucks so probably not usable, but great stats
  • :Armarouge: Potential trick room abuser with only 90 speed -- also potentially good on screens to get a WA proc?
  • :Crawdaunt: Sure man what the hell
Heatranite
Seems to me like this thing is getting an immunity ability of some type, either ground of fire. Even if not, losing some speed can always be helpful in this metagame
  • :Hoopa-unbound: If this guy wasnt restricted...
  • :Mamoswine: Fire immune Mamoswine is so funny to me, and the stats aren't bad at all
Darkranite
Maybe I'm just not creative enough but I really don't see any potentially great users, at least with the current ability. Maybe with a better ability, pokemon like :gengar: Gengar, :espeon: Espeon, or :latios: :latias: the Latis could be good?

Scolipite
Similar to Darkranite to me -- even tho base 120 mons are able to take advantage of that -50 speed to jump to 140, there doesn't seem to be a good base 120 speed mon outside of :sneasler: Sneasler to me. Maybe this stone will be relegated to trick room? Or maybe it'll get an insane ability that makes running it on victory dance :lilligant-hisui: Hisuilligant worth it?

Excadrite
With its current ability sand rush, slapping this thing on to the hardest hitter (preferably with swords dance) you can find is a very valid strategy. However, nobody knows if sand rush will stick around.

Garchompite-Z
The -10 defense this stone provides (along with its insane speed jump) could make it very interesting if paired with a good ability. For now, I'm keeping my eye on :Latios: Latios as a potential abuser, breaking the 140 speed boundary with nearly 200 spa

Skarmorite
Another stone with -defense, I could see this being used on
  • :Ogerpon: 180 atk with150 spe and access to SD? hmm...
  • :Iron-Boulder: 180 atk with 164 spe and access to SD? double hmmm.....
  • :Iron-Valiant: 190 atk with 156 spe and access to SD? triple hmmmm........

Froslassite
Probably not super useful unless it gets a great ability, but if it does, I expect some of the best abusers to be
  • :Flutter Mane: currently restricted, but would definitely be the best abuser
  • :Deoxys-speed: +60 attack is good for this speed demon, who woulda thunk
  • :Magnezone: Zone gets 140/115/120 bulk with 140 speed and 190 spa. Slightly hindered by that omnipresent speed tie but potentially interesting

Meganiumite
Very similar to Froslassite but with the HUGE addition of granting fairy type. With a good ability, I could see all of these guys being viable
  • :Deoxys-speed: this thing really likes a lot of the new mega stones
  • :Polteageist: If only you got dazzling gleam

Delphoxite
Another stone that could allow some pokes to escape the 140 speed hellscape
  • :Azelf: Huge 170 special attack with great coverage and 145 speed
  • :Thundurus: :Tornadus: similar to :Azelf: Azelf, but with 141 speed
  • :Inteleon: Another 170 spa mon with >140 speed, in this case 150(!)
Absolite-Z
Speaking of breaking out of speed-tie hell. There's a lot of mons here and I don't really have much to say about any of them, so I'll just list a few of them: :Dragonite: Dnite, :Excadrill: Exca, :Kleavor: Kleavor, :Great-Tusk: Tusk, :Bisharp: Bisharp

Dragoninite
This is totally unviable, but imagine belly drum :Eiscue: Eiscue with this

Here's a few teams to help with teambuilding with the ZA stones. Of course, the current ability list is temporary so the viability of many of these sets is subject to change but we just have to wait and see. These teams are definitely WIP and not sample quality but hopefully they provide a jumping off point for those who don't know where to start with the new stones.

:morgrem: :iron-crown: :armarouge: :primeape: :minior: :salazzle:

Pretty basic screens HO here with multiple sweepers that break 416 speed. Most interesting set here is the :Armarouge: (85/60/140/250/140/90) which hopes to get Weak Armor speed boost before mega. I think the best Absolite Z users will be making use of the added ghost type like :primeape: here. :minior: and :salazzle: were both fun things I found building that can catch opponents off guard with new immunities/typings and sweep with that opportunity.

:koraidon: :frosmoth: :shaymin-sky: :chandelure: :morpeko: :landorus-therian:

A ZA twist on the current sun sample. ZA gave us two Chlorophyll stones (for now at least) to abuse, here we have a 180 SpA :chandelure: with decent bulk. Eelektrossite :morpeko: serves as a spinner and semi bulky pivot (116/125/116/100/136/127) that out speeds 140s at +1 after either Spin or Aura Wheel. Dianc LandoT has been used before but mixed Weather Ball lets it threaten a new wall that otherwise would hard wall it: Chimechite :toxapex:.

:stonjourner: :magnezone: :tyranitar: :ursaluna: :conkeldurr: :latios:

I'd tried to make sand work before ZA and it was very disappointing. I had to resort to Garchompite Venusaur... However the weather got two good stones in ZA with Excadrite and Garchompite Z. There are a multitude of Excadrite users possible here, but I liked :conkeldurr: for its stats (105/170/135/140/130/120) and thought a fighting type looked good here. Garchompite Z :latios: doesn't particularly abuse the sand well, but can pivot in and out while dropping 191 SpA Dracos without taking sand chip. :stonjourner: is surprisingly good with sand force boosts and steelixite brings up its abysmal SpD to a point that it no longer falls over to a light breeze. This team has done pretty well in testing and won a room tour. I do think the tyranitarite user could be more optimized but :magnezone: does its job sufficiently.

This is a fun balance/BO with 5 ZA stones. Staraptite :avalugg-hisui: sheds it's ice typing to gain STAB Body Press and stays under 70 SpD to keep the boost (which is why we are using HAvalugg instead of Kalosian) for a respectable 95/214/132 bulk. It pairs nicely with the SpD Chimechite :toxapex: 's Poison/Steel typing and Levitate. The standard Manectite Alo rounds out the defensive core and wishpasses to our members without recovery. I've already showed Absolite Z :primeape: and Garchompite Z :latios: above but they act as fast pivots and threaten big Rage Fists and Dracos. Zeraorite :farigiraf: has a very nice 830 BST (120/135/140/155/140/140), provides the team with important electric and ghost immunities, and makes use of both it's boosted attacking stats.
