Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer Discussion

I always get really close and the game ends or something stupid happens. I've gone 21-0 and it's ended. Another time I was like 13-0 and got a chopper gunner so I hid in a corner and used it. When I came out I was 30-2 so someone found me and killed me but I would have gotten one.

The Tactical Nuke isn't practical in Team Deathmatch as you have to get 1/3 of your team's kills without dying. It's much more likely to occur in other game modes.

What's the deal with the level Rust? Was it disabled for awhile on TDM or what? My friend said it was a FFA map but I got it for the first time a few days ago (it was a first for everyone in the lobby as well). Needless to say it was insane and camping excelled as everyone (everyone) ran straight into you. I haven't run into it since.

I also don't understand why the EMP requires such a high killstreak; I do understand that they don't want it spammed like a motherfucker throughout the game but at the same time it's not that hindering. Risk vs. Reward, it's much more beneficial to choose some other killstreak. It can be obtained from Care Packages of course (done it myself once), but standalone it's no good. Anybody have good experiences with this thing or care to defend it?

Has anyone got a nuke yet?

Me and one of my friends went 36&3 and 25&0 on a game of domination on scrap yard, with a 25 kill streak each, but neither of us had the nuke equipped (We don't normally do that well).

I'm really liking hardline. With a kill streak setup of uav, counter uav, and predator missile their uav is pretty much down all the time.

Well I picked the game up on tuesday, I owned COD4, never really played it much though, still this game is very fun. I play using smgs, snipers, and assault rifles equally, and when i'm on high rise I use a riot shield. I'm pretty sure i'm around 23 by now. I'm probably the least intense player in this thread, but I have fun, My KDR is probably horrific, because I got murdered the first day I had the game getting used to maps, but i'm doing better now.

Anyways great game.

I wouldn't really try and get a nuke in anything other than FFA( no chance your air support will be shot down) or domination, be it ground war or the playlist of that name. If you do want to get a nuke and you dont have a plan then i think i may be able to help from what ive seen first hand.

Firstly class:

Assault Rifle - either the ACR or the TAR and a silencer, being unseen/heard is very important (good iron sight means red dot unnecessary and therefore you don't need to use bling although you could if you want to ).

Secondary weapon: Dual magnums is always good as you pull them out so quickly a shotgun like the AA with the grip can also clear a room, but of course takes longer to switch to.

Equipment: Semtex, Frag or my personal favourite Claymore. Not that important but can be useful, obviously dont use something like the tactical insertion.

Perks:

First Slot: Scavenger Pro or Sleight of Hand Pro, personal preference is Scavenger Pro.
Second Slot: Stopping Power Pro, but i actually prefer Hardline.
Third Slot: Ninja Pro or Steady Aim.

Now for the most important part Killstreaks. Use Harrier, Chopper GUnner and nuke. Play defensively and eventually you should be able to get the nuke. The key here is to get the 6/7 kills for your harrier and then you, yourself should have little work to do. Once you end your chopper gunner streak you should either have it or have little to do to get it.

Hope we get some nukes now.

I am using my old XBL GT so feel free to add "Pet Giraffe UK". Currently sitting on a 1.12 to KD not great but i'm really getting the hang of the game, so expect a lot better if we get a party going.

I have another issue with the game. What do you guys think about the camouflage for the various teams? I find that on Sub Base and Estate Spetsnaz have a huge advantage. So thoughts, opinions.

In contrast I also find that playing as an English speaking team is helpful because I know when a "Tango" is down and therefore that an area is safe. Although on the other hand again, I love listening to the stuff the militia say even though i'm completely clueless about what they say.

Obviously these problems pale in comparison to a lot of these games faults but i just want to spark some discussion.

My new issue with this game arises from the Javelin/Stinger Glitch people have found and playing around with, needless to say it's annoying as hell.

Primary - SMG/Sniper, the faster you can run the better.
Secondary - Javelin/Stinger - Javelin is more Powerful
Equipment - MUST be Semtex/Throwing Knife

Perk1 - Marathon
Perk2 - Danger Close
Perk3 - Commando

When you spawn switch to you Javelin then cook your Semtex or hold your knife, then switch to Javelin and then run into your enemies, upon your death if you cooked for long enough is that the Javelin will explode upon your death, generally taking the person that killed you.

Once your Javelin is glitched you cannot switch weapons or you have to recook, so you basically run around knifing people until you die and take out any that kill you (Mate of mine took out 5 people at once doing this x2 in one game)

I personally do not use this, but for those that want too....

EconBiscuit very interesting, what is the source of your information is it a forum, if so what is it? Thanks in advance.

My information about this is related from people from my Gaming Community. I do not know how they found out about it, but they told me over XbL today

I got my first tactical nuke last night in a game of TD on Rust (of all maps lol). I only got it by accident since I was playing HQ beforehand.

Game starts to get a lot campier in the higher ranks. Not that I'm complaining--I have an answer to camping.

When I notice that there are a lot of campers, I switch to my ninja class, which is Marathon + Lightweight + Commando (all pros). I usually support my team by roaming the buildings and taking out any campy snipers.

The ninja's also really damn good in Domination, which is probably my favorite game type. You move really fast in between points, you take out defenders really quickly (the knife lunge is huuuuuge) and Claymores are godly. =D Went 32-6 with him in Domination once.

I've been using that kind of set up in team deathmatch, with Riot Shield/Pistol+Tacitcal Knife/Semtex/Stun Grenades. It only works really well on maps with a lot of enclosed space, if I have to sprint in the open I usually end up dead.

Had a match on Estate last night, my team had the house locked down inside, the other team was coming from the Boat side. I sprinted around the Green House and came up behind them. 5 kill-streak with the knife and an Extreme Cruelty. Good times.

Playing TD on Quarry earlier start of a match I spawned topside, ran down the slope and up the construct ramp got first blood knife kill and and another 3 within about 5 seconds...

Also, a bit annoyed just lost a game of Headquarters, I went 50/16 and we lost 200 - 0.... After me the second best on my team went KD wise 9 - 15... had 2 kids go over - 20 >.>

Holy fucking shit I've run into so much retarded shit recently, the javalin glitch is pretty much the most retarded thing ever, and I hope IW will fix it soon, because it's ridiculously stupid. Also I'm really tired of people running around with akimbo model 1887s, just the number of people hiding behind every corner ready to shoot you in the back with them is depressing, and a shotgun shouldn't be able to kill at 10 meters.

hmm never seen someone do this
and yeah it would be annoying
sounds interesting though

Yeah the ninja type class is fun to play with, I was using it on afghan today, went for around a 10 kill streak with just knife kills, then got an emergency airdrop. Pavelow, stealth bomber, and that match ended pretty quickly.

Also my friend and I were in a match at wasteland, three minutes into the match a tactical nuke is activated by a teammate. He was 33-4 at the end of the match. My friend and I couldn't believe how fast he was able to get the nuke.

I haven't played in like 2 weeks, because I had to ship my Xbox in to be repaired, but I'd like to chime in on a few of these topics.

I got several Nukes and I stopped because I went to Hardcore which is my preferred game type, but I find the best class set up is:

SCAR w/ Red Dot/Holo
M93 w/ Red Dot/Holo
Claymore
Scavenger Pro
Hardline Pro
Steady Aim Pro
Kill Streaks: Harrier, Chopper Gunner/AC-130, Nuke

Usually before I switch to Nuke mode I check the room, if people are running Stingers and Javelins, you might have to find a new game, the people that use those weapons have a vendetta against air support and will shoot them down right away. You can opt for the AC-130 as it works a tad better against those weapons but it makes it harder obviously since you have to be pretty good to chain the AC-130 to the Nuke. Once I feel I can get a Nuke I go into slow and methodical mode, set Claymores behind you so your back is protected and when you get kills set another Claymore (remember you can only have 2 out). Just slowly go around and pick people off, you don't have to camp but it helps, once you get the Harrier look where the other team seems to be spawning, though often times it seems best to put it near a flag they own, if they don't shoot it down you got your Chopper Gunner, hide somewhere and possibly protect yourself with a Claymore. From there it is just getting the rest of the kills and if no one uses Stinger or Javelin you are on the road to the Nuke. Sometimes you will be close to the Nuke but the Chopper gets shot down or just ends, go back to slow and steady and finish it off. Though at this point you will be like 21-0 and people will begin to hunt for you so be extremely wary, everyone knows the Nuke is coming and the other team wants to stop it at any cost. This is just my most common Nuke set up, but I've gotten Nukes sniping on Derail, sniping on Underpass, rushing around on Favela, etc. I've also had quite a few close calls where I was 22-0, 23-0, etc and the team goes nuts after me or I just fuck up and miss a kill that I should've had.

On Hardcore the weapon differences rarely make a difference, but in regular I have noticed a few weapons do stand above the rest. The SCAR is in my opinion the best gun in the game, I didn't use it much because I really liked the M-16 and M-4, but when you go to the SCAR you feel the difference, the game gets so much easier. CQC is cake with the SCAR which is one of the few knocks on the M-16, and Scavenger is almost a must have when you use the SCAR, but it is so flexible for long range and close quarters stuff, and doesn't need Stopping Power to get kills so you can use your Hardline or Cold Blooded. If you're not Sniping or using the Riot Shield there is no reason not to use the SCAR, hell sometimes I use he SCAR with the M203 which is a perfect pairing for Scavenger, throw Danger Close on the class and go to town with noob tubes.

As for secondaries there are a few quality guns, the M93 is a pocket M-16 and is just a beast best machine pistol overall, though if you want something for CQC the G18 is pretty ballin', nice clip size, damage, and rate of fire, though it loses its effectiveness beyond close range which isn't a problem for the M93. Shotgun-wise I haven't been able to use the 1887 outside of picking it up because I had to stop at level 66, but the AA-12 and Striker are beasts for room clearance and general CQC. I like the Striker a bit more because the larger clip and you can reload shells at will and the rate of fire is based on how fast you can shoot. I really don't see any use for the normal pistols other than a knifing class, though in MW1 I often just went pistol only because it was just incredibly fun and the fact I have a very fast trigger finger and can ADS with pistols like its second nature so when I do get my Xbox back I'm going to work on getting a Tac Knife and going to town with some pistols.

I agree that the scar is a good gun but I still would put it behind the M16, mainly because scavenger is pretty much required and I find that I get stuck in a reload at bad times especially if their are multiple enemies. Also went 22-1 with the tactical knife on derail today which is basically the only map you could do that on.

I don't particularly like LMG's, and Riot Shield is garbage so

I've been having lots of fun with this set up

killstreaks: uav counter uav, predator
equipment: claymores

tar/scar w/ holo sight
magnum w/ tactical knife
slight of hand pro
hard line pro
commando pro

I find its a really good class for just rushing around in hard core. With hardline you get all the kill streaks like nothing. I tried air drop for a little bit, but I kept on getting destroyed waiting for it. so I switched to counter uav to help out the team. I always end up with really long kill streaks with this, not that their very usefull, since I get all my kill streaks so soon, but its fun to use, so I don't mind. way to many comas.

Well Lately I've been running these two classes.

FAL w/holo and silencer
Magnum .44 w/ tactical knife and FMJ
Flash x2 Frag x1

Bling pro
Stopping Power pro
Scrambler pro

P90 w/ holo
Magnum .44 w/ tactical knife
Flash x2 Semtex x1

Marathon pro
Lightweight pro
Commando pro

Killstreaks: UAV, Care Package, Emergency Airdrop

These classes will probably change, but I'm working on mastering the FAL and P90 right now, and so far both have been working out fine. I get Emergency Airdrop 3/5 times, and after I get that I usually do quite a bit of damage.

Riot Shield isn't too bad. You just need extensive team support to make it work, which often doesn't happen in matchmaking. People are too stupid to follow/cover you.

Riot Shield can be used offensively too.

Riot Shield
-Your Choice of Secondary-
Throwing Knives
Marathon and Commando perk, other perk is basically filler.

Just let them waste their ammo, and when they reload own them with a knife.

That works sometimes but it's not that easy. People can get around your Riot Shield with shooting, grenading, knifing, outsmarting, and depending on the map. Still it's freaking fun to use I'm getting decent with throwing knives.
