Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer Discussion

Anyways finally decided to run a full stealth class.

P90 w/ silencer
PP2000 w/silencer
Throwing Knife
Flash Grenades
Marathon Pro
Cold-blooded Pro
Ninja Pro.

Hey. What's the point of using a PP2000? With the P90's large magazine size, you won't get in many situations where you have to switch to the PP2000 to get a kill. Basically another automatic gun.

I'd change your secondary weapon to the M1014 w/grip. It'll come in handy whenever two or three people are rushing you, or whenever you wanna get a garanteed kill against someone who is holding down a power position on a map.

Seeing as you've got cold-blooded, you won't even appair on the radar without silencer. Even if the enemy hear your shotgun, they won't be certain where it came from and with marathon you'll be somewhere else before they can find you.

yeah I just put it on there for the hell of it, I don't have the m1014 yet so I guess I'll go with another shotgun.

Alright, so I've been using the barrett .50 cal as my main sniper since I got the gun, but now have just unlocked the M21 EBR. Looking at its stats, which doesn't say much, the two guns are about even with the barrett having a little better damage. However, looking online, they deal the same damage (70-70), except for head-chest-stomach the barrett is 1.5-1.5-1.1 while for the M21 its 1.5-1.1-1.0. Since I use stopping power, this means that stomach shots will not ohko for the M21 but will for the Barrett right?

Also, the two guns seem very similar in other aspects, such as magazine size and recoil. Is there any other advantage that one might have over the other?

The M21's recoil is WAY better than the 50 cal's, that's the difference. The M21 can place 2 shots in the same spot almost right away, I like the M21 for hardcore since it still kills everything, but in core there are many times I need to one shot kill a dude and the M21 would fail to do that. As for the snipers I used to use the Intervention and got nearly every challenge completed with it, however there were situations when the bolt action really messed me up, so I went to the WA2000, but it just didn't kill in one shot sometimes when I needed it to, so I went back to the 50 Cal which provides the best of both worlds, semi-auto but a ton of damage.

As for melee classes, I suggest everyone try this one:

SMG/Sniper
Anything
ThrowingKnife/Stun
Marathon
Lightweight
Commando

On another class have Hardline, and make sure you have Care Package as one of your kill streaks, when you get the Care Package DON'T USE IT, switch to the class mentioned above, hold your Care Package out then run like the wind. When you hold your Care Package granade you run insanely fast, then you just go around knifing dudes. I easily get scores like 30-5 just doing this, it also has the added bonus of comedy, when you go to knife a dude you bend over at a 90 degree angle and wave your arms about, its hilarious, try it in 3rd person or watch a kill cam.

My brother is a beast at this game, he got it when he was 13. He just turn 14 in December though.

I like using the Ump45 with the ACOG scope and fmj equipped with sleight of hand, stopping power, bling, and whatever else I feel like having as perks.

current gun infatuations include the UMP, acr, and RPD.

rpd
bling holo/grip
cold blooded pro
ninja pro

pretty nasty on hardcore and isnt too bad on core either.

im thinking of going back to a few guns like the vector and p90, or m4. i have been trying out the acr and its alright.

I just tested out this theory in split-screen mode, just for the hell of it (with "radar always on" off, obviously...).

The attacker showed up on the minimap when he fired of an unsilenced shoot, regardless of his own cold-blooded perk. So I believe your claim is incorrect, unless the rules are different under online play.

Are you trying to make a connection between age and video game skill?

Anyways I hate this game...

SPAS-12 is a beast of a gun, with Grip (Holo adds range but causes more spread) and Steady Aim it's range is intense and will more often than not one hit kill, I made it my secondary on my sniper class and its great for moving around maps. The rate of fire sometimes gives me issues when I need to clear a room, but the sheer range of it more than makes up for it, I think it might be the best all around shotgun now after the Model nerfs. Head to head I've handled quite a few Akimbo Models with the SPAS, it takes some getting used to, the pumping is weird and there is this weird delay when killing someone.

Are you fucking serious, wow. Haven't tested it online myself, I just was using logic.. hmmm. Maybe Zerowing or someone can confirm this?

I've had some really great games with the M16 since I unlocked it. I really like the feel of this gun; it's sort of a lovechild between the SCAR and the FAL, both of which I've been using for a while. I've been using this class:

M16A4 w/ Holographic and Heartbeat Sensor
Ranger
Semtex / Stun
Bling Pro
Cold-Blooded Pro
Commando Pro
Final Stand

Like zerowing, I really only take shots when I need to (my accuracy as I type is 30.02%), and I haven't really found myself using the Ranger much. Any suggestions for a secondary?

Andeby is definitely right.
On a side note, I've been trying to get marathon and lightweight pro (since I've gotten everything else) and I've just been running around like mad with the acr. Its doing fantastic. I've always thought I needed stopping power in non hardcore, but I can certainly still go positive without it. Unfortunately it takes like a whole clip to kill someone...
Edit: Pidge thats hilarious also:
what do marathon pro and lightweight pro do?

lol just had something very funny happen, not competitive but plain hilarous.

So I see 2 good friends from smogon (dragonfruit and SoT) on and playing xbl. They were in the middle of matches so i decided to play by myself. Suddenly after 2 games I notice that I kill someone with the exact gamertag of dragonfruit (no i didnt invite him lol) and we start wondering what were the odds of that happening, when all of a sudden SoT appears and I literally laugh my ass off (even though i dont know if df invited SoT).

@ darkie: you can always try a Stinger or a rocket launcher for fun++

Thanks for confirming cold blooded. It's a real shame =/.

Marathon Pro allows you to climb ladders faster.
Lightweight Pro, decreases the delay from sprinting to being able to shoot your weapon.

@darkie, I'm a bit dissapointed your using the heartbeat sensor, but then again I used it up until I started to understand the game better. Like typical routes players take, hiding spots and the maps in general.

I promise you, once you stop using the heartbeat sensor, the game will become twice as exciting, and you'll never use the sensor again!!!

Just noting that marathon pro not only increases ladder climb speed, but the speed you vault over obstacles and leg-up ledges, which vastly increases your flow of movement, it's rad.

Not to burst your bubble but there is a "Join session in progress." After they finished their games they likely looked you up and chose that option.

Silenced SMGs are killer. I hated the silencer in MW1 but with the new perk allowances and the fact that most people forego UAV it's worthwhile. I also didn't notice how much mobility was affected weapon to weapon until I started using my most recent class (granted it's still pretty old). Before I would carry Stinger's to shoot things out of the air but when I lost access to it and equipped a thumper, I thought I put on lightweight by mistake. It's incredible.

I think people give way to much importance to K/D. How you start your account off determines how it will reflect down the line. Minor adjustments can be made but overhauls are very very unlikely. My former account was at .86 and it stuck; occasionally I could increase it a point or two but to get a 'good' K/D would take ages. My new account is 1.23 because I started it off well. I don't care if a guy has a 0.5 K/D because he sucked when the game came out; if he's 18-7 or similar consistantly now, I'll give him props and call him a good player, not call him out on his K/D. I hate when people bring it up because the system is broken.

Just got a nuke on HC TDM on Afghanistan using this set up.

FAL w/ HBS & Thermal
PP2000 w/silencer
Claymore
Bling Pro
Hardline
Ninja Pro

Using the FAL as a sniper on HC is amazing and that was the first nuke I had seen on HC TDM.

Anyone been in one of those matchs where everyone's foot speed is stupid fast? Like, Marathon+Lightweightx2, seriously. It's a bug no doubt, but God is it funny, especially on Highrise with people falling off everywhere. The ground goes all slippy too so you can go prone and slide about.

When are they gonna release the real CoD multiplayer and stop the beta eh? ;)

Yeah I got in a few of those yesterday. Chasing people around the map with akimbo shotguns is hilarious, I wish it was an actual game mode.

I uploaded a video if anyone is interested.

I've only experienced the super speed game mode once, but I'm so sick or glitches that I pretty much only play mosh pit, it seems to be one of the game modes where you don't run into many gliched games.

I just unlocked the M21 again, and fallen in love with it again, it's a beast with a silencer, sure it takes two shots, but with almost no recoil, it's simple to squeeze out a quick double. Also without worrying about one shotting people you can get rid of stopping power in favour of better 2nd perks.
during this prestige I pretty much exclusivly used SMGs, but lately I've rediscouvered my passion for the LMG, specifically in the M240. It's high accuracy and rate of fire let you put a good 5-6 shots into people really fast, getting rid of the need for stopping power again, and sided with a shotgun covers alot of ranges.

But enough of me ranting about my favorite guns, what are you guy's favorite sidearms? I usually go with the usp/m9 because they're great all purpose side arms that you easily use independantly if you run out of ammo, also the quick draw is amazing.

Yeah I saw one of those super speed matches when my brother was playing on the 360, hasn't happened to me on my PS3 yet though.

Oh yeah and sidearms, just started using the m9 a few hours ago, around 7 matches later i'm at 42 kills with it. Great gun.

I don't know why half of you rag about your K/D on smogon, or why you think that even matters when you (the aforementioned group, i don't want to offend anyone) so obviously play deathmatch and free for all. anyways the most fun class in the world

Riotshield
(whatever gun you prefer, i suggest raffica or akimbo glocks)
C4
'scavenger
danger close
commando

As long as you always detonate with XX and never rb and keep in mind that the riot shield IS glitched and programmed against you can have alot of fun. But for those of you who actually think your K/D is important, this might be unacceptable. please go try gamebattles.
