History of Tiering Decisions for Gen 9 Monotype Almost Any Ability

Quick Ban #1 (2023/10/16):

:Kommo-o: - Kommo-o easily overwhelmed most team compositions due to the combination of Drain Punch, Belly Drum, and Triage, effectively rendering it impossible to revenge kill, wear down, or wall it. It's only bad matchup were Ghost teams due to the Fighting-type immunity and methods of managing it via Unaware and Dazzling existed, however, the former is difficult to fit on most types and the latter is typically on faster and more frail Pokemon that are easy to wear down by Kommo-o's teammates. Other abilities like Punk Rock and Adaptability would break physically defensive Pokemon attempting to answer Belly Drum sets, potentially turning the tide in most matches due to the unpredictability.

:Chi-Yu: - Due to it's nearly unresisted typing, great set of viable abilities, and deadly Special Attack, Chi-Yu cemented itself as a very scary wallbreaker with very little answers defensively. Chi-Yu often used Desolate Land and Sheer Force, typically alongside a Nasty Plot or Choice Specs set to break practically every wall in the metagame with ease. More niche options like Choice Scarf and Flame Charge surprised would-be revenge killers, allowing it to run rampant late-game and Magic Guard allowed for endless pivoting regardless of entry hazards. Specially defensive Water- and Dragon-types did well as switch-ins but were often overwhelmed by Nasty Plot and Ruination.

Unban #1 (2023/10/16):
:Zoroark-Hisui: - With the current state of Ghost and Normal teams and experience from many matches in live testing, Hisuian Zoroark has been made out to be tame unlike its time in standard Almost Any Ability. While Sheer Force sets were considered constricting due to it's ability to use mixed movesets, it's comparably weak to some already legal Ghost-types such as Gengar and Ceruledge and is often easy to revenge kill. Hisuian Zoroark also doesn't have a lot of flexibility and only viably uses Beads of Ruin and the aforementioned Sheer Force as well as the rare Magic Guard.

History of Tiering Decisions for Gen 9 Monotype CAP

Base banlist used: Monotype banlist

Quick Ban #1: (maintained from previous gen)
:cawmodore: Cawmodore - Cawmodore is one of the most dangerous Pokemon in CAP because of how devastating it can be as a sweeper when facing unprepared teams. If given the opportunity to set up, it is capable of easily 6-0ing a team that lacks a proper check.

Quick Ban #2: 2023/07/13
:heat-rock: Heat Rock - CAP brings Sun setters to Dark-, Grass- and Fairy-type teams, enabling devastating cores such as Flutter Mane + Jumbao and Roaring Moon + Malaconda. With Sun becoming as abusable as Rain in the CAP Mono metagame, the same item restriction should apply.

Quick Ban #3: 2023/07/31
:hemogoblin: Hemogoblin - Hemogoblin is an overbearing threat on both Fire and Fairy teams as it can single-handedly take down entire types without much effort.

Quick Ban #4: 2023/08/03
:fidgit: Fidgit - Persistent being able to set a 7 turn Trick Room and Fidgit being able to safely switch an ally in with Healing Wish results in an almost unstoppable TR Ground sweep thanks to partners such as Ursaluna and Camerupt.

Unban #1: 2023/09/18
:hemogoblin: Hemogoblin - The DLC1 metagame introduced new checks to Hemogoblin for various types, such as Galarian Weezing and Empoleon, as well as enabled certain threats such as Baxcalibur which Hemogoblin can provide an answer to. Hemogobling seems to have found a more balanced spot in the current metagame.

Quick Ban #5: 2023/11/12
:hemogoblin: Hemogoblin - Hemogoblin continues to be an overbearing threat on both Fire and Fairy teams as its Pixilate + Extreme Speed combination is a prominent, yet centralizing force in the metagame. Furthermore, Hemoglobin has great support in both of its typings; Fire and Fairy.

History of Tiering Decisions for Gen 9 Monotype Little Cup

Flittle, Diglett-Base, and Growlithe-Hisui have been unbanned.

Quick Ban#1: (01/07/2023)
Focus Band, King's Rock, Quick Claw, Damp Rock

Unban #2: (10/07/2023)

Gastly

Unban #3: (25/09/2023)
Vulpix, Vulpix-Alola

Quick Ban #2: (25/09/2023)
Heat Rock, Icy Rock

Quick Ban #3: (31/10/2023)
Flittle :Flittle: - With the addition of Vulpix and Vulpix-Alola, the metagame shifted in a way, where almost all dark types dissapeared, which left Flittle with little to no counterplay in the current meta except some very niche counters. With help from dual screens it could set up way to easily and often is an unstoppable force to deal with.

Quick Ban #3: (24/12/2023)
Minccino :minccino: - Tail Slap hits pretty hard when paired with a supporting item like Life Orb. Tidy Up makes Mincinno an overbearing force as it has minimal counterplay despite priority options like Corphish and Pawniard existing.

Hemogoblin @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pixilate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Extreme Speed
- Bitter Blade
- Spikes / Moonlight

Hemoglobin is a Fire / Fairy type that sticks out primarily because of its Pixilate + Extreme Speed combo. It also has a great Fire STAB in Bitter Blade which gives it longevity. Bulk Up is the perfect balance-move that boosts an offensive and defensive presence. Finally, it can opt for moves like Spikes, Moonlight, and Substitute for your team's needs. What do we think about this mon in the tier?

Hemogoblin is a really strong CAP Pokemon that has centralize the metagame, by being able to beat majority of the types due to Extreme Speed + Pixilate. Whether it's the common Bulk up or Choice Band, Amazing team support from dual screens Hemogoblin becomes very difficult to take out. If your not running walls like Venomicon, Toxapex, Heatran, and Skeledirge (Basically mons that naturally resist it) Its going to be a rough match for yall. Hemogoblin should be looked at closely if we want to develop the metagame :D

At glance this cute cap mon honestly looks harmless given fire fairy being a busted offensive type combination but a terribly defensive combination at the same time. You'd also be wrong to think that it can't sweep 17/18 types in this meta game alone with a extreme speed after 1 bulk up. Granted some of the replays are of me in various tours, I have come up with 2 good and fun sets for it that actually make this thing broken on both spectrums.

I cracked down and thought to myself on this one; "what if I use the special side of hemo with toxic spikes coverage to substitute stall and recover with moonlight while also catering to its special attacking side which can catch most off guard?" this also isnt a necessary set but to pair it on fire with toxic spikes coverage and volt switch it can be kind of a nuisance.

Hemogoblin @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pixilate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Moonlight
- Hyper Voice
- Flamethrower

And the other set is the basic bulk up variant that is a very very red alert sounding threat even at preview. Even with band too. This thing has to go, most teams aren't prepared or have the vernacular to possess a defensive capable ready mon that can survive off both stab pixilate extreme speed and bitter blade. It poses threats to literally 16/18 types and steel can barely handle it even with heatran.
