Project Monotype Room Events Megathread

I'm not entirely sure if I should be asking here or not but I was wondering if CCAT will return after HOME/DLC? Assuming it was stopped due to the low amount of team options pre-HOME.

Congratulations to ArkenCiel and Trichotomy as the April prize winners for the Room Events and Official Tournament Leaderboards, respectively.

Here is the May Room Event schedule! We've moved 8s to a slightly later time on Tuesdays, are keeping up with Monday OMs (MOMs for short), and are rotating which tiers are played in which timeslots so to be slightly more timezone friendly! We're excited and hope to see you participate :)

As an aside, with the impending release of Home, some events may be shuffled around and CCATs will likely start back up soon thereafter as well.

We did a ccat, this time around Ursaluna (Normal)

We first decided on Ursaluna's movepool, deciding against SD due to it being able to 2HKO anything anyway. Avalanche was considered over Fire Punch as a way to outright OHKO Garchomp and Dragonite, but we settled for Fire Punch as 2HKOing Corviknight unconditionally was great. Because of this, we provided Ursaluna enough Speed to outspeed and beat the bird into a crisp. Ursaluna has trouble getting in, so Cyclizar was the next Pokemon we added. With these two mons we have problems with wallbreakers of middling speed like Urshifu-R, so Hisui Zoroark was added. It has Trick to inconvinience bulky walls like Corviknight, and also is a Fighting-type immunity which is great for this team considering we are unlikely to have a physical wall. Ditto is Normal's best Pokemon, flipping the script against types like Dark and Fighting by copying threats like Chien-Pao and Iron Valiant, so that was an auto-add. Choice Scarf Indeedee helps against Zamazenta and provides Healing Wish to give the bear a second chance to cause a rampage. Blissey was chosen as the final Pokemon due to its excellent compression with it being a decent specially defensive wall, entry hazard setter, and Paralysis spreader which helps out Ursaluna and Hisuian Zoroark.

So we did our first ever Mono OM CCAT and decided to do CAP so without further ado, here is the team!

:venomicon-epilogue: :zapdos: :landorus-therian: :iron jugulis: :moltres: :corviknight:
We had the choice between Aurumoth, Venomicon, and Voodoom and !pick chose Venomicon so we decided to go with the Epilogue forme and build Flying as that seemed more interesting than building with the Prologue forme on Poison. After that, we decided we wanted something to slow down the opposing team and went with offensive Discharge Zapdos. Next up we needed somethingfor Speed control and settled on Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian. The next slot was a bit tricky but thought Iron Jugulis would be a good partner for Venomicon-Epilogue so originallywent with Specs but settled on an utility set to be able to get rid of the opponent's items such as Krilowatt's Life Orb. Moltres and Corviknight were added at the end to give the team a defensive backbone that can support the rest of the team with Will-O-Wisp and Defog support respectively. Team does kinda struggle with Krilowatt and Rotom-Wash so just be careful around them, but otherwise this is a solid team!
Huge shoutout to Swiffix for helping build and test it (sorry about all the Hydro Pump misses) and Dragapult for coming in at the tail end to give a bit of insight!

Ogerpon-Hearthflame is a prominent setup sweeper in the tier right now with its access to Swords Dance allowing it to break past Pokemon like Toxapex and Water Absorb Clodsire. Although Ogerpon-Hearthflame is great alone, its not enough to make Grass a top-type in the metagame. In fact, this type struggles against prominent types like :baxcalibur: Baxcalibur on Ice & Dragon and :chien-pao: on Dark & Ice. It's important to remember what matchups you can win when teambuilding. One of Grass's most notable losses this gen is :ferrothorn: and as Chaitanya would say..it just loses to "Ice Shard" :mamoswine: :chien-pao: :baxcalibur: this generation. Ogerpon-HF helps with types like Poison and Steel. Spikes Brambleghast compliments this as this chips Pokemon like Toxapex, Okidogi, and Iron Hands to put it in a better range for Ogerpon. Meowscarada is a standard Choice Scarf set that removes items like Heavy-Duty Boots, making hazards more effective. Shell Smash Torterra is very scary after a speed boost as it helps with similar types like Ogerpon-HF while also improving the Water and Dark matchups. Amoonguss prevents us from losing to Toxic Spikes and we have an :eject_button: to provide a 1-time safe switch to a teammate. Finally, Lilligant-Hisui is running Yache Berry as a lure to help with chien-pao: on Dark and Baxcalibur on Dragon (specifically).
