Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Are you implying that, in case there are no pokemons roaming:

# of frame advancement = Target frame - Monster frame - 10 (seed verification-optional) <<< ?

That's correct.

I apologize if this sounds stupid, but I have to ask. Where are there level 50+ Pokemon in Heart Gold that I can use to find my initial seed? I'm trying to use the Pokemon at the beginning of Mt. Silver, but they won't work. I don't want to have to get to the end of the cave every single time I want to find my initial seed. :/

Use "Find Seed by IV Range" in the Seed Finder and give a Rare Candy or two to that Mt. Silver Pokemon, using an IV calc to narrow down the IVs. Sometimes you don't need to use a Rare Candy.

At some point you will be able to input the captured critter's Hidden Power type and need no Rare Candies at all, assuming it is high enough level.

So I found the following mark I wanted to hit, (Platinum, IV abuse)

Seed: B8000267
Date: 2010 / 4 / 30
Time: 00:51:13
Delay: 605
Frame: 7
Spread: 31/A/A/A/31/30

Now, my first five resets were all odd delays, I even hit 605 delay twice in that time, hitting frame 6 and 9 (?) .

Then all of the sudden my delays switched to even, and I can't hit odd delays anymore.

What happened? And is there any way for me to get back on track to hit this mark? I cannot find another mark with a spread I like... My parent B is useless, my parent A is flawless.

I have never had this problem with seemingly random delays and frames. I always consistently hit the same frame... However this time I am going from 5-9, all values.

I noticed identical spreads showing up in multiple areas. Do they repeat themselves after awhile?

I figured it out myself!

If I have my DS plugged in, I get an odd delay. If I have my DS unplugged I get an even delay.

There was no mention of this anywhere that I read, very odd. Is this well known?

I believe you are the first person to mention about it. As far as I know, I haven't seen anyone mentioned about plugged/unplugged DS can affect the odd/even delays at all.

*trying it out right now*

I tested it out like 10 times, it is 100% working that way on my DS, with this setup:

R4 in main slot
EZFlash in the other slot

iirc, having GBA cartridge inserted will always switch the delay, from odd to even (or vice versa). I guess that since EZFlash is inserted into GBA cartridge slot also, maybe that's the reason why your delay switched and not because of you plugged/unplugged your DS.

Check your delay again, this time with EZFlash removed, to confirm your idea about the plugged/unplugged thing.

I did, the EZFlash being in/out has nothing to do with it. I haven't moved/touched the EZFlash drive since the like, the beginning of time. =)

Although, perhaps plugging it in is giving it power or something?

Ah nope, EZFlash cartridge runs on internal battery within the cartridge itself (you need to open the cartridge to be able to see it, though). If the battery runs out, then your EZFlash will become unusable until you replace the battery. Charging adapter only charge your DS :D

I have no idea then, can someone else try what is working for me? I am sure it shouldn't be working, as someone else would have ran into it already... but it does for me and it's making my life so much easier...so =P

Lucky you then :D
Anyhow, the scrolling down then up on the Continue screen still flip the delay for everyone else.

Can I use Raikou to do my delay/second calibration? Im not in a part of the game where I can catch high level pokemon to calibrate for my average delay and seconds and leveling up low level pokemon hasnt been giving any results at all.

well... yesss.... but the thing is you should really be using emloop... as it allows you to hit higher delays, and it is a lot easier to view just when you are resetting

does anybody have any tips on how to soft reset for your final result without emloop?

also, is it necessary to set the date 2 days after the current date before collecting the egg to check its ivs found in the frame?

I have finally 'mastered' flawless shiny breeding, and am now onto catching pokemon, Legendaries to be specific.

Before I get started on this, I will need to start a new game due to having them caught already in mine, correct?

And are there any legendary specific guides out there for doing this? I have the basic guide located in the front page, but last time I was linked to another one and it helped a lot more, thought I'd ask.

So, say I am going to catch Palkia. Do I start a new game and save right before him, and then do my RNG processes? Same with the birds and Azelf and such?

Thanks!

If my shiny egg comes up with the wrong IVs and I saved the game, does this mean that the next egg won't come out shiny and I need to start the whole process again? Please say no.

If you saved after you grabbed the egg then you need to start the process again, I think.

omg, i just hit the delay and the time, but the frame is different. what am i doing wrong?

edit: my target frame is 9, i have a frame of 7. i have a +2 advancement because i have a page which says caught, defeated pokemon. omg, how in the world did my frame increase by only 1?!

Your frame is not always the same, it changes depending on how consistent you are.

You hit frame 6 and advanced it to frame 8.

oh, is that right. so the frame changes, even though you confirmed it as your calibration frame?

oh maybe i entered a wrong value in the adjacent results. hmm let me try this again. D:

could you give me your average calibration frame resets?

My frame is entirely dependent on the current save. Sometimes my average frame is 7. Sometimes my average frame is 5. Sometimes its 8.

If you hit 7 twice, odds are you are going to hit either 6/7 or 7/8 the majority of the times, assuming you do things the same way.

so how many times can you say you did the frame calibration. about 4 is that alright?
