Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Also, when calibrating, it's probably more helpful to aim for a seconds that isn't :00. RNG Reporter generates an exception if you have the minimum greater than the maximum for Generate Adjacent Spreads, so if you're aiming for 14:00 (mm:ss) and you end up hitting 13:59, it won't show up in the adjacent spreads output, and you won't be able to check the delay\offset of the spread you got instead.

Aim for a seconds value around :20 to :40 until you consistently have your seconds calibration down. Then you can aim for numbers closer to :00.

p.s. Another tip: try to keep one NPC visible on the screen when you save. Even though my average offset when I mash A and talk to the Day Care Man as soon as the game starts is 3-4, I've been able to very consistently hit an offset of 7 if I wait for the NPC to turn or move 1 step and then immediately talk to the man. Still haven't gotten a great Chimchar yet, but it's only a matter of time.

p.s.s. After more experimenting, I've refined a technique for getting the same offset more consistently:

1) Wait for one NPC to be on screen while standing by the Day Care Man.

2) Immediately after that NPC moves, save.

3) If the NPC moves right after you save, then you can start resetting for good IVs. If not, repeat steps 1-2 until this is true.

4) Wait for that NPC to move before talking to the Day Care Man.

If the NPC was scheduled to move right after the save, then every time you reload the game, it will move at the same time. This was true when I was getting really consistent offsets of 7. Further testing will show whether or not it works most of the time.

I've got a quick question. I'm sure it's been asked before, but if I battle someone(to scetch moves onto Smeargle) will the RNG advance? if so how would I change the taps acordingly. I need to do 369 happieness taps and 4 coin flips. I need to scetch three moves onto Smeargle, so three battles. anyone know the answer? or should I just scetch the moves, and then look for another impish spread?

I've got a question also, I'm locked into a Rash / Shiny / Male egg, and I'm wondering if it's possible to use RNG Reporter to get the IV Spread I want but keep the contents of the egg the exact same? Or does doing that screw up the shiny IRNG stuff?

once you've saved onto the shiny egg, and the egg's still in the day care, the pokemon is permenately(spl) shiny. so now you can abuse IV deal and make it flawless, and it'll still be shiny. I reset and now I'm doing something else, but I'd still like to know the answer to my question above

I decided to search for a clock, and I found one, I added it to my website, heres the link: http://platinum.x-treem.nl/clock.php, the time doesn't really matter, because, when I want 20:40:00, I change my DS time to 20:39:00 and I synchronize the seconds with my website clock.

Very nice, any idea how accurate it is?

<Snipped some, as you sort of revisit this in the next post and I will discuss it there>

What I think could help here is the ability to search for good spreads on a particular day, so if you have your offset range down you won't have to mess it up by resaving.

Perhaps, but I tend to think offset is pretty random anyhow. I think the thing to do is to get your journal gone and then start working on the offset. It can be "controlled" to some extent so I am actually thinking of removing it from the calibration steps altogether, as the offset you get when calibrating is not going to just be the same the next time you have to re-save.

Wow, nice find. I did "something dumb"(tm) and will fix it.

The reason I never personally noticed it, though, is that I never search on "00". I always search "00" + how many seconds it takes me to get from reset to in game. This makes it easier for me to not have to even synch both of my clocks to the actual second, but just a 10 second interval. IE. If I set my DS clock to 00:00 at the time my computer clock is 12:10 I know that when the second sweep comes back around to 10 I should reset.

Aim for a seconds value around :20 to :40 until you consistently have your seconds calibration down. Then you can aim for numbers closer to :00.

Are you actually aiming for spreads that land on :00? If so you might be making things a little more difficult for yourself than they have to be. If it takes you 15 seconds from reset to ingame look for spreads at 15 seconds. Then you can reset at 00 and your seed seconds will be 15.

Interesting. For offsets, just save until you are getting the one you want. Having them on screen (or at least the 3 of 6 that you can get on screen) can be helpful for visualizing what your best save times are.

I do think it might be worthwhile, at least for lower offsets to simply re-save until you get consistent results on offset with a button mash.

It should not matter. As far as we know, every single thing that advances the IRNG is explicitly listed in the OP. If there was something else it would be there. If you do this and can conclusively prove that using the VS seeker for a double battle advances the IRNG please let us know.

Hey mingot, I'm on Step 2 in the DPPt RNG thread, it says make a note of the time and date.

Do I just make a note, or do we have to enter it somewhere on the RNG Reporter?

Also, what's the date? I only see the time, which is 102:38 on my DS. How do I find the date?

You will end up entering it into the Dppt Seed Finder. Watch the video, it explains everything.

Your date is kept track by your ds. Just check it. how do you have 102 for time, thought it went up to 24 only.

Ok, got that.

So I make a note of the date and time.

The exact time, right?
I just saw 11:03, but it's 11:04 now, so which one do I enter?

11:04, 4/18, 2009.

the time on your DS when you clicked "continue" on your game screen is the time you enter. so if you hit continue at 11:14:59, then the time you enter is 11:04, despite being one second away from 11:05

You wrote 14 instead of 4. lol just so he doesn't get confused, thought I would point that out.

When I hit Continue? But I'm still on the first screen where I choose whether I want to play Pokemon Pearl or Emerald, or go onto Pictochat.

So, do I on my DS, make a quick note of the time, click on Pokemon Pearl, click Continue and check the time on Pokemon Pearl?

Perhaps you should try a wristwatch with a seconds hand or seconds display. It completely takes the speed of your computer out of the equation. Plus they look nice on your wrist.

Wait guys, in torsoboy's video, there's a >> button next to the Hexadecimal format, but there's no button on the 4.01 Version.

Help?
