Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

hey , i have a question. or two

1. do i have to catch a pokemon and check its IVs every time i want to hatch a shiny or is once enough.
You'll have to check the IVs of a caught pokemon each time you want to lock into a shiny egg so that you can find your seed to figure out the number of taps needed.

If you are IV abusing then you should check your seed each time in the same way as stated above, but you could use the "coin flip trick" to find your seed, but you would still have to check your egg for IVs to make sure you still hit your frame. The coin flip trick will not indicate whether you hit your frame, only if you got the correct seed. Check the OP, it should be in there somewhere.

2. i keep running out of rare candies before metal kids IV checker can give an accurate result, i've been told to iv battle, so will that advance the seed and stuff etc
No, you cannot IV battle, that will randomize the seed (I think), but in any case an IV battle will not work when you want to lock into a shiny egg, and will force you to save if you are checking an eggs IVs meaning you are stuck on that particular egg.

no not IV abusing, so you saying my only hope i8s many many many rare candies?
WEll, that all depends...if you go to the Battle Area, you can just use 50 or so depending if you caught a lv.50 pkmn.
If you're trying to do this multiple times for different pairs of parents to breed and get a shiny offspring, then you'll need a lot. Which means you either get yourself an AR or beg for 300+ candies.

if i catch a high level pokemon the chances ok accurate IV caluculation are higher?

Sounds like a good idea. I do plan to update with information about the methods for TV Rotom, Fossils, Grass pokemon at some point, too.

Rotom, Fossil Pokemon, Bebe's Eevee and the Veilstone Porygon are all method 1 Pokémon.
I thought that might be useful for you to know :)

@Deathwish-ex: Yes, the higher the level of the Pokemon, the more accurate are it's IV's.
For a lvl 55 Pokemon, you should get 3, 2 or 1 possible IV's for a certain stat, though it's usually 1 or 2.

Rotom is Synchronizable. I'm pretty sure it's a Method J Pokemon. Any Pokemon who you get into a wild encounter with immediately after their PID\IVs are generated seem to be Method J.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.
Anyways, I'm sure the others I mentioned are Method 1, as I got both Shiny Porygon and Eevee, aswell as a Shiny Cranidos from a fossil.

for some reason everytime i use the RNG method i end up with something else, im inputing my stats right so i need to know if anything that i did was wrong

saved a stark mountain
caught a machoke level 56 (checked IVs and entered them)
did the poke flip thing 4 times as requested (however i did start from the flip coin if that makes a difference
put parents in day care (over here i accidently put the worng pokemon in so i withdrew it and re place it)
got egg
hatched egg. not jolly shiny as supposed. what did i do wrong

Viletung, the spreads in this spreadsheet, are used for which method?
Just wat oddsok said; they are for both, but you must check the frame number, because some of the spreads are generated as method 1 spread, so method j spread will have a different Frame number.

Hmm mingot, would it be possible to make the next RNGReporter version automatically save the search results as .csv every, say, ten minutes? My last search is running for half a day (literally) and it still hasn't finished, but I want to see the first thousands of results already (and I can't cancel the search anymore).

Why can't you cancel? I really doubt that I'll do this, though. Your run (or someone elses) mega high frame run will finish and a spreadsheet will be published and no one will ever do it again. Seems like a lot of trouble.

mingot - When you generate all your Incubation RNG lists of natures/abilities/genders, do all of those have a set IV range? Or do they vary everytime by the RNG and offset etc.? I'm guessing the latter, but I'm not 100% sure.

The Time Finder just won't stop, I press the cancel button like crazy and it just goes on. And it's because I'm looking for high offset shinies (as the low-offset ones weren't good enough).

Heh, I guess I can wait another twelve hours for the conclusion.

What happens if there's no initial seed, only a monster seed

Then you don't have an initial seed. Either your delay was too high (more than a minute, am I right mingot?) and the RNGReporter ignored that, or you got your time wrong, or the pokémon's IVs/Nature.

The IRNG, which is responsible for nature/ability/shiny fires when old man is holding your egg. IVs are set independently when you collect the egg. I take it you never soft reset much?

IVs were entered incorrectly

or

You were too slow in getting from soft reset to in game (you have just about 60 seconds)

or

You waited too long after entering game before catching a monster.

or

The time you entered into the initial seed finder was incorrect. Especially the hour. Which is 24 hour format. 0-23.

That sucks, I wonder why. At this point I am going to imagine you are well past the 4 billion and have rolled the counter over into negative numbers, too, which has probably blown up the progress indicator.

So what are you going for that is not included in either of the spreadsheets that have already been published?

Yeah I figured as much, just wanted to make sure, and no I've only ever SR for two legends, pre-RNG abuse. I don't see how that's relevant :P. Thanks for the reply.

Yup, it blowed up twice already. Or even thrice. I'm looking basically for HP shiny spreads. I've found some already at low thousands, but I wanted better ones. Basically, it's me being perfeccionist again :/
