Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I mean, I searching my frames on Xtrem, and reseting for the same wild pokemon since 2 days, I always found my seed, but this time, I cant.

Does sweet scent not work in hail? I was trying to get a shiny swinub

Sweet scent does not work in hail and sandstorm. Things like swinub and beldum can't be SS so are harder to abuse. What you can do is use the white flute with a seed that has multiple targets and run through the grass and hope you battle it with the right frame.

A lot of thanks to those people who answer my posts. I can already use the RNG for obtaining pokemon. A while ago, I captured a shiny Regigigas with just 1 SR. Next thing I will try is hatching perfect pokemon.

Tnx to Mingot.

Happy playing to all of you.

I'm still having great difficulty capturing the right wild pokemon via RNG (Platinum). First, here is my calibration data (note that it's not in chronological order):

14 590
14 594
14 598
14 600
14 600
14 600
14 600
14 604
14 608
14 614

Ideally that means, I should go for a seed with a 600 delay - but in order to do that I'd need to change the year to under 2000, which you can't do on a DS, so I settled with 598. I've been trying to hit my target time for DAYS, but I can never manage to do it, and it's getting quite irritating.

For example, the time I need to hit is 00:57 (45 sec).
I sync clocks at 00:56 exactly, load, then SR at 00:57 (31 secs due to the 14 second calibration).

I've did this for days and still can never hit the right seed, is there something I'm doing wrong?

PS I used the right dates, times, etc.

Mingot:

Can you change the OP to say that sweet scent advances by 2, so when doing calcs, for example, 70.

70-2 = 68 /2 = 34 flips.

Also change the +7 to after you battle a pokemon and add it to the method 1 frame of the pokemon you battled.

I am really not inclined to do so, because that's not correct information in the context of the section where that is listed. That section is a list of how many RNG advances certain actions will generate and since the scent + the battle are really an atomic operation it makes sense to just give the entire advance. I may change the text to say "Sweet Scent + Battle", though.

Also, the information that people want (the 2 or 3) IS listed in the capture section, which is where people should probably be looking.

Just found out that Emloop timer is not exactly an applet, as it is made in Flash. I was able to download the SWF and play it on my cellphone's flash player. Everything runs very smothly, except for the fact that I can't make the timer start to count, but that was a close shot.

In response to a request from bearsfan092, I have updated ShinyFinder to include an adjacent result window. I have also updated my original instructions post to add new instructions and link to the new version, but for those too lazy to go and find it I will post the changes here as well. Here is a download link.

New for version 1.1
Determining what seed you actually hit:

1. Having selected a target, double-click on the target row. A new window will appear displaying the range of seeds and flip sequences for your chosen target ± 8 delays.

2. If you wish to expand or change the search, adjust the data in the text boxes at the top, then click "Generate". You can specify a range for both the second and the delay.

3. As you do the 10 coin flips on entering the game, click the buttons corresponding to the results. The Seed Range window will filter out any seeds you cannot have hit. The list of possible results will likely have been reduced to one before all 10 flips have been completed. Make sure you complete the flips anyway (if the remaining seed is your target, otherwise you can just reset immediately) as it is a necessary part of advancing the IRNG.

4. To restore the results and reset the flip count, just click "Generate" again.

I'm working on getting the breeding rng nailed down, but am having some problems. Would one of the more experienced abusers be willing to do a short q&a with me via aim?

I don't have AIM (and I don't want to download it) but if you put your questions in a post, I'll try to answer them. Or we could use IRC if you specify a channel.

Gimme a minute, and I'll write up my dilemma.

My question(s) is/are, what do I do with the generated portion? I understand that I set my game to 00:04:00, reset at 00:05:00, and hit continue at 00:05:10, but does my frame or the coin flip have any affect on what I'm doing? Should I have my journal open, even though I don't need to increase my frame? Should I pick a higher frame, preferably 11 or 13, to compensate for my frame?

Thanks for the update, Minus! I was catching Magikarp in between SRs to find my delay, heh xD This'll help a ton.

The offset frames that are influenced after the continue screen by NPCs do not affect your timing. So you're right about your hitting continue at 5:10. The Coin flips will only affect your IRNG, but you can use them to determine your delay after the egg's already been generated and is being held by the old man, since at that point the egg's shininess and gender, etc, are set.

If you think you can keep re-saving for a frame of 9, then you don't need to have the journal open. Conversely, if you later know your frame number but it's not the one you want, you can go find a spread on that frame number and change the time instead, since it won't be affected by the DS's time :>

Coin flip sequences are generated by the IRNG, not the normal RNG. You can use them to verify your seed because both RNGs are seeded with the same value. Coin flips have no effect on the RNG that produces IVs. You should be collecting the egg (and hence generating the IVs) before flipping the coin anyway so it doesn't matter, otherwise the time wasted flipping the coins will advance the RNG many times. The RNG advances continuously in Solaceon Town in order to generate the behaviour of wandering NPCs.

You do not need the journal open if you were hitting frame 9 without it. If, when you did the calibration, the journal opened to a page with a capture notice before you dismissed it and collected the egg, you will need it to open again (the journal's initial state affects the RNG too, even if you do no page flips). Basically, you must recreate the conditions that, during calibration, caused you to hit frame 9. This will enable you to hit frame 9 again.

If you can hit frame 9, then you do not have to pick a higher frame.

Alright. I hit them without the Journal open ,so I'm just gonna redo it and hope for the best.

If I get it down, you'll see it in the DMP thread. ;]

Yup, just keep resetting your clock back and grabbing the egg from him to see what frame you're on. If the frame isn't the one you want, you can either re-save to change it, or find a new spread with that frame instead. Later you can use the journal to hit higher frames, too, but it's not needed for now if you can find a good spread with your average frame already. :>

@Chaos: Just keep trying. It's going to take some time to get. But, quick question. On all the ones you've done since calibration, have you checked to make sure that they are even? I've found through breeding that most of the time, the delays will either stay even or odd, but here and there they do switch over for one or two tries. I've heard that insterting a GBA game in switches from even to odd, but I'm not sure about that so if someone could verify, that'd help.

If your egg hatches before you grab your seed finding pokemon, does it affect your numbers?

No. I believe RNG Reporter searches a number of frames for each seed to determine where your finder came from, so if other stuff happens beforehand (like encountering other Pokemon) it should still give the right answer.

If you are resetting on a particular seed though, why don't you just use the coin flips to verify?
