Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Ok I tried to hit a delay of 930. I got 708. 930-708=222. So that is how long it takes to boot the game up for me? So I take my delay and add 222, so if my delay is 930 it'll be 1152?

Wait delays can't go into the thousands. I'll try it out with a normal dealy around 620 or so.

Woops! Sorry, I hit quote instead of edit.:(

although what you say is true chaos, why is it that when I type my normal delay of 599 I get only 10 seconds to SR? is it because I take four seconds on the white screen when I reset?

Wulf, this is how I use emloop (use it only with higher delays).

Say I want to hit a delay of 800. My normal delay is 600.

I then input the difference of those two (200) into the frame field, and convert that into seconds. I should get around 3. Then I add my normal seconds value to that (14), leaving me with around 17 seconds.

I know it's not really a good explanation, just ask if you want me to try again.

Yeah it is 222 for the white screen to go away. Man I just hit 699, but needed 700. So close!

Also wolf, use a delay in the 900s, that'll give you over 14 seconds. When you get in the game catch a pokemon. Find what delay you hit. It won't be near 900. Subtract what you hit from 900. You then take that number and add it to any delay. That way you'll hit the delay for sure.

Ok KingDustero and Chaos I get it now, emloop timer should only be used when you want to get a high delay. That made perfect sense since I was like O_O that timer went too fast it only counted five seconds, maybe I look for a frame with a high delay, then I can use it in my favor...

I was practicing using Emloop, and after initial frustration, I managed to hit my seed, or so according to my coin flips. The frame I needed was 118, so I (mistakingly) did 58 journal flips and used Sweet Scent. I know I made a mistake because I forgot to factor in 2 running Pokemon, but this should've put me at frame 120, correct?

I somehow ended up with the right seed, but at frame 215/221. Any ideas as to what I did wrong?

Im having a little trouble with emloop, I put in the delay as 980 and converted it to 16 seconds, ok so I push space.. and after counting down from 60 it just stops..

Test, it makes your delays odd or even, for most of the games.

Flurries, I have no idea.

Wulf, I don't emloop works with vista.

Let me write down everything I did once I pressed continue:

1. Cancelled the journal that was open with NO caught/defeated Pokes
2. Flipped coin 10 times, successfully matching my seed
3. Opened journal; flipped to a page with a caught Roselia, and flipped back to it 57 times with careful counting
4. Used Sweet Scent with my Roselia
5. Caught the Fearow (non-target)
6. Checked seed and found that it was frame 215, when it should've been 120.

No ideas?

Were there any NPCs moving around? Or maybe the page you flipped to and from besides the Roselia page had a caught/defeated poke on it.

There were no NPCs in sight, and I didn't flip through enough pages to advance the RNG my THAT many frames. It was the little patch of grass in Route 226 next to the Survival Area.

EDIT
: I went back to where I was standing. I didn't notice it at first, but there is a TINY TINY sliver of a runner's sprite showing, who could've easily run up the frames a bit. Mystery solved. Damn runner.

No NPCs in SIGHT does not mean they aren't really there Flurries, check the entire area, VS seeker people (or if you haven't battled them battle them) and don't move from that area until you RNG your pokemon (if you go away they will start moving again) that COULD exlain why you caught a different pokemon

If you are going for 120, it is 118/2 flips, 59 pages, not 57, unless you have runners out. Also, just because the NPCs are off screen doesnt mean it doesnt affect the RNG. They were in the same area and caused you to overshoot it.

wulf beat me :( Good job though

Yup, just edited my post. I didn't notice the runner was close enough. Also, if you count correctly, I said I flipped the journal page (1) and went back to it 57 times (58). Plus, I didn't factor it the roaming legendaries (116+2) and Sweet Scent (118+2). =120, right?

So can anyone help me with my problem? Emloop timer isn't working for me, I set it all right, and after running for 60 seconds (the time you set in the green box) it just stops entirely... this is really strange..

So if I understand this correctly, I need to VS. Seeker EVERY moving trainer in the Route? And if I do so then save, will they remain unmoved next time I reset?

Hmm...why is it that I get a different range of delays when I have a different year? For instance, I always got 13 seconds and 622-626 delays when I was in 2009. However, when I went to 2098 in order to hit my delay I've been getting 14 seconds and 630+ delays. Not only my delays changed, but my seconds as well - I did nothing different (I JUST did calibration today, so the delays are very accurate).

EDIT: Wulf - there's two full guides on using emloop on the first page. Read those.
