Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

OK, I am sure I did all the specified to get the right frame, but still no luck. Can someone list everything that advances the RNG? Thanks.

Man, I keep having trouble trying to hit my frame for IV breeding. I have my parents in place (and in the right order), have a shiny Jolly Gible waiting, and now RNG abusing for IVs. But once I hit my delay (finally), the NPCs keep messin up the frame! It's weird - I've calibrated frames and attempted to hit my target time for IVs twice now, but the frame was ahead both times by one frame. I aim for 20, but the NPCs make it 21. During my calibration I had it down to frames 7, 8 and 9. I don't know how to control their movement or if that's even possible.

Does the seed determine NPC action? If so, it seems my frame will always be ahead one and I'll never be able to get the right frame. I tried re-saving to get (and then calibrate) a different set of frames, in order to try to hit the frame right on the dot, but again I was ahead by a single frame.

Help? I can do everything else I need to, it's just the NPC movement always seems so random and it's hard enough to hit the right delay... without worrying about them... ugh...

I've been having the same problem, Waterfiend, where my calibration shows one stable number and then when I go to reset for the correct seed, my frame mysteriously changes by one.

The best advice I could give is to mash the hell out of the A button once you exit out of the journal, but well, it hasn't worked for me yet. :P

I believe they don't have to be in sight, just in the town (Solaceon Town?)

I have a question, If my Giratina is in turnback cave, and I have a Mespirit running, I assume I start on frame 6, correct?

Yeah, I think I may just retry for a consistent frame (although I hate having to recalibrate multiple times). I suspect that the NPC movement is based on both the NPC's behavior right before you save, plus the seed you're using to get your frame... that determines their new movement...

I've not tested this because what's the point of resetting the game if you've finally gotten what you wanted ;) But if you were to reset a few times and get the right delay / frame and all that, and you get the same result every time, that would answer the question. Resaving may be your best bet after all...

Question. If my target frame is 2, and I have a monster frame of two and a wanderer, do I have to advance my RNG once or not at all?

If your target frame is 2, for the wild, sweet scenting a pokemon is 1 and the monster frame is 1, stop saying 2. Having the wanderer will make you get a frame or 3.

Waterfiend - we already know the movements are somewhat saved and based on the RNG once you load the game. Nothing to test. You will get the same frame every time unless you take longer to take the egg. Re-saving is the only option if the seed goes over the target frame you want.

Wait.

Target Frame: 2
Monster Frame: 1
Roaming Frame: 1
Sweet Scent: 1

2-1-1-1= 3?

So, I need to advance the RNG 3 times?

2-1-1-1= 3? (What? 2-1-1-1 = -2 ... But this is wrong anyhow)

So, I need to advance the RNG 3 times?

Target Frame - This is the frame number of your selected spread. Spreads may be found using RNG Reporter or the spreadsheets below from the "Creation Methods for Captured Pokémon" title.

Monster Frame - This represents the frame number that a Pokémon will land on when soft resetting and then immediately capturing it without doing anything to advance the RNG. Please see the list in the "Creation Methods for Captured Pokémon" which is below.

Number of Wandering Pokémon
- This number represents the number of wandering Pokémon that have been released into the game, but have not been captured. Examples of wandering Pokémon are Cresselia, Mespirit, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres.

Finally the forumla to calculating the number of required RNG advances is:

RNG Advances = target frame - monster frame - Number of Wandering Pokémon

---------------------------

So.

Target Frame = 2
Monster Frame = 2 (sweet scent)
Number of Wandering Pokemon = 1

RNG Advances = 2 - 2 - 1

-1

Impossible.

I know it's not 3, that's what the poster above me said.

So I can't use that frame unless I capture Mesprit? :s

Thanks everyone for your help.

I just hatched a Modest Piplup with the following IV spread: [31 x 31 31 31 31] and couldn't have done it without the articles and help that everyone's provided.

Good lord it's a pain though. Hopefully it gets easier the more I do it. :naughty:

9. Select "Breeding (DPP)" and then click generate with this initial seed.

This step in "Hatching Perfect Pokemon" confuses me, does it mean DPPt Egg Iv's? and if so then I think step 9 and 10 should be swapped?

Ah okay... sorry, my first time doing this so I must have missed in the comments... I will try to re-save. Thanks for the help.

What it means is select the "Breeding (DPPt)" option from the main RNG Reporter window once you have your initial seed for calibration.

That will give you a list of possible IV spreads from frame 1 to frame 1000000, then you hatch your egg, note its IVs (by leveling it or otherwise) and match its IV spread to an IV spread that was reported by the RNG program.

The frame of that spread is the frame you're looking for.

No, they mean on the main rng reporter page, click the dropdown next to method and select Breeding (Dppt)
Edit: beaten again. XD

So what I do is select "Breeding DPPt" then put in my seed and it should generate, right?
EDIT;
I am getting this " error " I guess you could say, it states the following

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

How do I fix this?

My bud on another forum is trying to download RNG reporter, but is having problems. Any suggestions? Here's what he sent me...

so.. I get up this morning, look over what you gave me about the calibration phase, finally watch that video, get my times synchronized, and had every thing ready, but forgot about the rng reporter program. so i go to the link you gave me, download it, and this is were im having my problems (go figure).
so, after it downloads successively, it pops up on the desktop (i think thats what the main screen of the computer is called) so i press it and it takes me to a screen that looks like a "My Computer" screen and it has 3 icons, one says "readme" another says "rngreporter" and the last one says "rngreporter.exe.config.". so i press on the one that says "rngreporter". it pops up a little screen that asks me ether to run, extract, or cancel. i press run, it tells me it wont run, then i go back and press extract, it takes me to a screen were it look like its installing something, and i keep pressing next, then it brings up another screen that looks alot like the same "My Computer" from befor, it has the same icons, so i press the "rngreporter" again, and it gives me the same message saying that it cant run. so im sooooooooo confused..... i guess this is just another bump in the road, hopefully we can get over it. if you have any suggestions what im doing wrong, than pleas PM me, and hopefully i can get this done

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
