If no roamers have been released yet (cress, mesp, zap, arti, molt) then your roamers would be zero. You RNG them the moment before they are released, so they don't factor into your journal flips and whatnot.

Ok I'm going after a bold Cresselia and this keeps happening: I put the seed in for method 1 from wichu, got my spread, did my time, did 128 steps, did journal flips, and as soon as it left, I went back to canalave. Then I flew to floaroma town and changed the coin flip app to the marker app to locate Cresselia. Then I found her in Valley Windworks and caught her there. Thing is, it keeps coming up naughty. Is there anything I could possibly be doing wrong (and yes I put into consideration the monster frame is 5)?

@people researching HG/SS: So I read this thing on Serebii about easier IV inheritance. If I read correctly, you can guarantee up to two IVs, but does anyone know how the others will be determined? All Serebii said was "normally", with the other IVs potentially being inherited and being determined randomly, so does it mean up to 5 IVs can be inherited?

Is there a way to lower my frames?
cause many good spreads have frames >6000 :(

Search well, and it really depends on how picky you are. I never abused for anything higher than frame 500, but I still managed to get very good spreads. What I like to do is to search multiple delays. For example, I would set the year to 2050 and search 554 /6 04 (so -50 my delay/my delay), keep the max frame at 1000, search IVs and method. I do the same for the year 2099 as well as searching 604 / 654 on the year 2000 to search the first half of the century. This way, I get all kinds of spreads.

@JRT: It would help knowing what frame the Naughty spread is and what your target frame is. How much are you off? How many Pokemon are in your party?

mattj brought this up in the other research thread. The other IVs are calculated the same way, and the average 3 are still inherited, not 5. The power items most likely replace the calculations for the first two IVs to be passed from the parents, and then the third one occurs, followed by the last 3 from the RNG.

My Target Frame is 470. I have 5 pokemon in my party. Naughty has a frame of 473 in the reporter, which is the frame it showed on the wichu program for Bold, but when I put it in the reporter, It goes to 470 for bold.

Easy fix. Wichus program has an error where the frame is 3 off. Always put the seed into RNG reporter to see what frame your target is on.

So since wichu's program gives me 473, I want to assume 470, and since rng gives me 470, I want to assume 467? Remember that my target frame on reporter is 470

When you are capturing a Pokemon >50 to breed shinys, does it mess the RNG up if you don't catch the first Pokemon you find? I always seem to get a 49 or 48 on my first encounter.

49 or 48 usually doesn't matter. It just can't be like L30 or something too low to be specific about the IVs.

I should clarify: So (since it's 3 off) if wichu gives me the frame 473 for my bold spread, should I make it 3 more or 3 less than 473? Also after putting the seed into the reporter, if the frame becomes 470, is it 3 more or 3 less than 470?

...

What? Huh? Why?

Just use 470.

The number that RNG Reporter gives you as the frame is the number to use when following the directions. The directions were written assuming (well, more than that, they are FOR RNG Reporter) that you using RNG Reporter, and were written by the same person who actually coded RNG Reporter.

Lol I can understand you're confused, but if you look at the last page you would understand. I'm having problems with Cresselia's frame for bold. The spread from wichu gives me 473 for bold. I put the seed into the reporter and it gives me the frame for 470. I do my steps/flips, go after it, and it comes up naughty. Naughty is the has the frame 473 on the reporter, so that's when lightningfusion said it was a wichu error.

Wichu calculates his frame number differently from me. Since the directions were written for RNG Reporter, always put the seed into RNG Reporter and get the frame that it reports and then use that to calculate your flips/walking etc. If that was your problem great, enjoy your Pokemon, if not we can go from there.

Correct that's not my problem. My frame of 470 for bold on the reporter keeps giving me naughty when I go catch her, which is the frame of 473 on the reporter.

If advancing the frame to 470 makes cresselia be on frame 473, advance until 467 o_O You're probably miscalculating her initial frame.

First of all, if you calibrated, when it had the journal pop up with "caught" pokemon, in the 8, the +2 from journal was already added. So to get Frame 12, you would've needed to flip to a caught pokemon page then flip back. So you get +4.

Well I didn't flip the journal, which confuses me D:
I pressed Continue, and then the journal came up. There was already a caught Pokemon on the page that automatically popped up, so woudn't that already count as +2?
If it did, then I would be on frame 10, but my target frame was 12. So I would have had to do 1 more journal flip to get to 12(8 was my saved frame).
I got my desired spread, but I didn't do what I needed to do to get there, because I didn't flip the journal at all.
The only reasonable explanation to this, would be that I was actually saved on frame 10??

I'm not miscalculating on purpose. I'm just going by what the programs say.

Do what the other person said, go for 3 frames lower if for some reason you are going over. Do you some how have 3 roamers out your forgot about?

Just to make sure (assuming no roamers):
470 - 5 (monster frame) - 5 (walking 128 steps with 5 pokemon in party) = 460
460/2 = 230 journal flips. Are you doing that many flips?
