Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

You didn't mess up as long as you didn't go over your target frame.

Roamers might advance your frames or there is a moving NPC in that area that could do it :)

okay im on frame 12 and my target is 15.. Do i need to get on frame 14, then exit the pokegear, and pick up the egg asap? When i pick up the egg it will move it to frame 15 and give me my flawless IV's correct?? Im nervous.. lol this is my first egg RNG, i finally got RNG reporter to work last night thanks to your help :)

No reason to thank me - this is what the thread is for ^^

Anyways, open up RNG reporter and on the main page, enter in your seed. In "Method" select breeding HGSS and hit generate.

Now scroll down and 15should be your desired IVs.
Now comes the fun part, just place your cursor on frame 12 (where you're at now) and call elm. Each time you call, verify with what it says and go down one. When the blue is 15, stop and pick it up. Read Part 2 here for a better explanation: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2751946&postcount=7

Remember...when you exit out of your pokegear...mash A as quickly as you can so the NPC doesn't get a chance to move. If all goes well, congratulations :)

OMG THANKS SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! Shiny flawless tentacool! lonely nature for the swords dance moveset! thanks again, when i rng enough pokemon to make a trade thread, you're gonna be at the top of my whitelist! Thanks!

I figure it's about time I calibrate my reset time on Heart Gold. I've already caught Entei and Raikou; is calling Elm and checking Latias's location going to be sufficient to find out which seed I landed on? Or will I have to actually go and catch something?

Also, is it worth my while to look up the rebattle codes so Entei and Raikou reappear on the map?

Alright, I'm starting to get really frustrated.

Currently, using Pikatimer to TRY to hit 18 seconds, 639 delay, my last 5 resets have ended up at seconds of 15/20/19/15/19. I haven't made any adjustments to the timer settings, and I'm hitting the start button at the same time I'm setting the clock on my DS. How is there such a huge fluctuation between seconds?

I have a quick question. I'm beginning my RNG process in HG and i'm stuck in the calibrating part. People recommend using Mt.Silver for high level pokemon for calibrating my second and delay but i'm not in that part of the game yet. I'm in Kanto but only defeated Brock. Can I use the lv.70 Lugia at whirl island for calibration or should I just wait until Mt. Silver.

you can use Lugia, in fact I recommend it since you don;t have to just keep searching for a Pokemon like you would on Mt. Silver.

You can. Since its just calibration. Just use the masterball and dont save. :P

you can use Lugia or any other stationary legend. 50+ is fine.

You are obviously doing something very wrong, that should not happen. Something is wrong with how you are doing it, via reset/starting etc.

reread how to use it here.

For some odd reason I've been hitting 23 seconds the past few times I've calibrated (even though its actually been taking me 14 seconds to hit A on my game file icon). Does anyone know why this number is coming up instead of 14 (what was usually getting before)?

The seconds is when you press a on continue.

I still can't seem to match up my Elm Responses..I guess things have slightly improved, since I at least am getting matches back. Here's a screen with everything I have input now. The Search Elm Responses window are the results I just got. I have yet to click the OK button yet. Highlighted seed below is what I was trying to hit. : http://i56.tinypic.com/25qduea.jpg
This is currently what I have in my Pikatimer. I've been updating it every time to try to keep up: http://tinypic.com/r/34zh72c/7

having an update of 90 is terrible. thats around 1.5 seconds off of what you "calibrated".

When I did eggs I never went for a seed that was so darn close to my calibrated because pikatimer messes with your mind at that low of a delay.. Try it without, or try a higher delay seed.

You can't get delays that low, so something is wrong.

Ok your wanted seconds shouldn't change. Since it displays 14 seconds in the in the upper half of RNG reporter, then that should stay constant at 14 seconds.

Secondly if your other delay is that far off then you're hitting continue a second and a half before the timer actually hits 0. Push reset, create timer, and start fresh.

Don't constantly update your Poketimer, update it only after you get the same delay or close to it a few times (3 is good). If you're within +-4 of your delay, don't change it.

Alright. As you can see in the left window, my original Delay was 503. The latest Elm Responses brought me to a Seed with a Delay of 592. What should I be doing in order to get a higher delay seed?
Ps, I set my wanted second back to 14 like SuperMarth64 said, therefore the update of 90 is gone.

I'm experimenting this myself, but if someone else already knows the answer to this, that'd be great.

For pokewalker RNGing, if I don't have any pokemon with me and let a pokemon join, and then I catch 3 other pokemon. After that I return from stroll, will the pokemon which joined me be on frame 7 or will the 3rd pokemon I caught be on frame 7?

I tested before that one of them will be on frame 7, but I don't know which, because both my join pokemon and my 4th pokemon (i.e. 3rd caught pokemon) were Bronzors lol.

Pikatimer is making me rage!

I'm trying to RNG for a Gyarados to use for competitive use in Platinum. My calibrated delay and seconds are 600 delay/15 seconds respectively and I'm trying to hit the following:

Seed: 390F02B8

Adamant Nature
31 HP
31 Att
31 Def
17 SpA
31 SpD
31 Spd

Target Frame: 901

Date: 2010/01/01
Time: 15:06;50
Delay: 686

Coins: H, T, H, T, H, T, T, H, H, H

During my soft resetting I use coin flips to check my seed. Every time I get the incorrect seed, I search for the seed I hit on instead. However...

...I get this!

What's going on here? Why is it keep giving me this stupid message? I've gotten it all day and I don't know what's wrong.

I really would appreciate an answer as soon as possible. Thanks!

You can't expect your flips to match what RNG Reporter expects if you don't put the same wanted seconds in RNG Reporter as you have in Pikatimer.Look at RNG Reporter. You have it set to 0 wanted seconds.

Edit: Also, you have your adjacents too low to even find a match. It should be +/- 99, +/- 5

New edit:

I see you're using the upper window differently than how I use it, so nevermind that first bit which I scratched out. The stuff I said about adjacents set too low is still true.

You probably aren't all that far off. The only thing is you aren't searching any large amount of adjacent delays. Change it to +/- 5 seconds and +/- 99 delays and you should get some results that you can adjust from.

Hm, interesting. I'll take both of your suggestions (and anyone else's) in mind as I'm gonna try again. Thanks a bunch. :3

Only thing I do different from Riski is, that I am almost certain that I can hit my second, as Pikatimer usually will get you on the exact second.
So I do +/-99 delay, and +/- 0 Seconds, if you add to many seconds, I've found that it says I have weird seconds and delays when I check what delay I did hit, that I know are off. But that might just be me.
