My First Team :)

This is the first team that I have used for competitive battling and its worked out pretty well. I have played numerous battles with this team and refined it wuite a bit, but it still needs some work, especially if better battlers are helping me :P. Also, sorry that I couldn't get the pictures to work, so its not pretty.
Sooooooooooooo the team building........

Haxorus
This guy is my favorite new poke from gen 5, and for good reason. His base 147 attack is the ninth best in pokemon, and third best in non-ubers. Slap a choice band on it and its attack becomes 648-combine that with a base 120 power STAB attack, and it can deal some serious damage.

Magnezone
Well, since Haxorus' dragon attacks will lure out steel types that resist them, Magnezone can trap and kill them with magnet pull. Also, the amount of teams that run a scizor, skarmory, ferrothorn etc. is sooooo large that Magnezone can almost always take out at least one enemy poke for free.

Gyarados
This pseudo-dragon is preeety beast. With a high 105 base special defense and intimidate helping out with its defense, gyarados is a pretty hard wall to crack. Great typing is nothing bad either. The only bad thing with his typing is that he is 4 times weak to electric.

Nidoking
A ground type to soak up all those electric attacks aimed at Gyarados. Nidoking got powered up this generation with sheer force, and he has great coverage with special attacks.

Registeel
I need a wall, hmmmm, what's the best type for a wall, I know! Steel! Registeel is a beast and rarely can be even 2HKOd. He can spread status with thunder wave, and set up stealth rocks. I can switch to Registeel when a Latios/Latias or other dragons try to attack Haxorus.

Breloom
Basically so that I have a priority user and can spread more status with spore.

So here are the details

Haxorus @ Choice Band
Mold Breaker
Trait: Mold Breaker
Outrage
Dragon Claw
Brick Break
Earthquake
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
Mold Breaker catches soooooo many people unawares, for example, Rotom-W. Easiest kill ever. Earthquake is an OHKO and leviatate doesn't take affect. The EVs are to maximize his wallbreaking ability. I don't feel like I need to invest in defense because Haxorus is so frail anyways. Brick Break is so that I have something to hit air balloon Heatran, or other steel types with steel types. Outrage is my main attack, but dragon claw is so that I'm not trapped into not being able to switch.

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Timid
Trait: Magnet Pull
Thunderbolt
Volt Switch
Flash Cannon
Hidden Power (Fire)
252 SpAtk, 220 Spe, 36 Hp
Traps the many Scizors, Forretresses and Ferrothorns and kills them with HP Fire. Magnezone also can tank hits pretty well, meaning I can switch it in on alot of dangerous sweepers. Air balloon is so that Magnezone's main weakness is nullifyed.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Impish
Trait: Intimidate
Rest
Sleep Talk
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
236 Hp, 176 Def, 96 SpDef
A strong wall that can never be cracked, unless if electric type attacks are used. A nice cycle can be started with using rest after barely surviving an attack, using sleep talk to boost or attack twice, and then resting again. Gyarados is also my status absorber with rest. It's epic watching a wall like Blissey use toxic while I boost, and then resting off the damage/status.

Nidoking @ Choice Scarf
Modest
Trait: Sheer Force
Earth Power
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Fire Blast
252 SpAtk, 232 Spe, 8 Hp
I use this big boy mostly for revenge killing. With those four moves, Nidoking gets super effective coverage on many pokes. Nidoking can also come in for free on the electric attacks aimed at Gyarados. The EV set is to maximize his SpAtk, and keep his speed high enough to outspeed max speed base 130 pokes.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Careful
Trait: Pressure
Iron Head
Thunder Wave
Seismic Toss
Stealth Rock
252 Hp, 196 Def, 60 SpDef
How is Registeel not OU? Honestly. It tanks so many hits and is able to thunder wave any fast threats, allowing them to be Koed by Haxorus. Stealth Rocks is also set up by Regi, and helps with the sweeping efforts of the others.

Breloom @ Life Orb
Adamant
Trait: Technician
Mach Punch
Bullet Punch
Swords Dance
Spore
252 Spe, 204 Atk, 36 Hp
Breloom is honestly the odd one out on the team. I find I have troubles getting Breloom in and keeping him in. Having said that, mach punch is useful for more revenge kill, especially against other scarf users. Also, spore is very useful to spread sleep. Finally, it is beautiful to see Breloom's Bullet Seed destroy bulky waters like Vaporeon. I dunno, maybe I'll switch it to another priority user, or maybe not.

Other potential changes good be giving Magnezone a scarf, or specs, or giving Registeel something different than Iron Head-maybe counter.

Thanks for reading and comment on how I could make my team better. :)

I suggest dual chop over dragon claw for one reason. Breaking substitues. While dragon claw is stronger you have strength in your outrage and subs can really stall out haxrous, and slow down the pressure so change it to dual chop :D.

On your gyrados it makes no sense to have DD and only one attack in waterfall especially since it isn't even stab. Yes it's nice to have DD and the healing abilities of rest but it limits you to one attack that will provide no coverage. I always thought that sleep talk gyrados wasn't very good anyway since he isn't to terribly bulky and he's better at just wrecking the shit outta teams :D. So I suggest this:

Leftovers Intimidate Adamant
Moveset EVs 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
~ Dragon Dance
~ Waterfall
~ Taunt
~ Stone Edge / Bounce

So what this lets you do is keep some bulk and lasting time that you lose with the loss of rest, and it gives you great coverage with bounce and waterfall! And taunt is purely there to get rid of other setup pokes which there are maaaaany of. however if you don't like this set I suggest this one the highest but the first three here are all good offensive sets.
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/gyarados

You say you want an effective wall that can setup SR and be a steel type? The reason REgisteel is not OU because other pokemon can stall a lot better. Simply because of movepool and typing. So i highly suggest either bronzong or skarmory.

Bronzong:
Leftovers Levitate Sassy
Moveset IVs
~ Stealth Rock
~ Gyro Ball
~ Hidden Power Ice / Toxic
~ Earthquake
2 Spe
EVs
252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD

Leftovers / Shed Shell Sturdy Impish
Moveset EVs 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
~ Roost
~ Stealth Rock
~ Whirlwind
~ Brave Bird / Taunt
252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe

Also see them here and here:;
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/skarmory
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/registeel

You have all Attackers besides magnezone who won't really be attacking much.... So I suggest a SPA sweeper. And the least change to your team toput a SPA sweeper in there is changing Nidoking into a SPA sweeper. I'm assuming pokemon like skarm, and other physical walls especially steel types, (since haxorus can't deal with em) give this team trouble. A SPA sweeper can fix this problem easily. This is a simple switch, and if you want you can even keep it as a scarfer:

Life Orb/choice scarf Sheer Force Timid
Moveset EVs 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
~ Earth Power
~ Sludge Wave / Focus Blast
~ Ice Beam
~ Thunderbolt
First one here:
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/nidoking

I lastly suggest a bulk up breloom. This will also raise his defence and elongate the sweep, making him almost impossible to kill while still boosting his attack to sweep easily. I think overall it's just a better boosting move for breloom, just by it's popularity and success. It's the last one here:
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/breloom

Changes in sum:
-switch registeel to skarmory/bronzong
-dual chop over dragon claw
-change your set on gyrados
-change nidoking into a SPA sweeper
-change breloom to a bulk up breloom

You might want to spruce up the RMT a bit. Currently it is full of typos and the descriptions are a little lacking. Without using bolds, hides, or pictures it isn't too pretty either. Maybe I just overdo it(check out my Dragonitemare, its crazy), but I think it could use a little work.
-I would get rid of Registeel and replace it with Bronzong, Heatran, or Skarmory.
-Dual Chop on Haxorus has more base power than Dragon Claw while breaking subs. Much more useful.
-ResTalk is a terrible set. Use a standard DD. Gyarados isn't even bulky.
-Change Nidoking to Nidoqueen. It's overall better. Actually, you shouldn't really be using Nidoking anyways. Try Choice Gallade.

Hey

Ill give this team a quick rate.

First use Jirachi over Registeel. They both have the same weakness except that Jirachi lacks the Fight weakness. Jirachi can also wish pass/paraflinch/ and rock well against most of the metagame. A Standard Specially Defensive set should work quite well.
385.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 218 SDef / 40 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Wish
This set is very standard so it doesn't really need a lot of explanation. Stealth Rocks is very important to handle Dragonite and Volcarona. Body Slam is to paralayze which is very useful for your team. Iron Head with Body Slam is very useful for flinching pokemon to death and can help you get a wish off. Wish is to heal Jirachi and the rest of your team.

Btw next time can you please organize your rmt better and maybe but some more effort into it. It looks very bad to be honest and looks like you just hastily made it.

Since this is Dream World, Chandelure is an infinitely better trapper than Magnezone. Unless you're playing on Pokemon Online's server (where it's banned), you should be using it. Standard Choice Scarf set (Timid) of Shadow Ball, Fire Blast/Overheat, Energy Ball, and HP Fighting/HP Ice sounds perfect.

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast/Overheat
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]/Hidden Power [Ice]

You shouldn't be using Nidoking, it's complete ass. Serperior is without a doubt the best Special Attacker in DW OU, and if you're not using it you're doing something wrong. Try this set out:

Serperior @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Trait: Contrary
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Substitute
- Leech Seed/Glare

Leaf Storm is obvious, as it works perfectly with Contrary, ensuring it basically the equivalent of a free Nasty Plot. HP Fire makes sure Ferrothorn doesn't wall you. Substitute is for predicting switches to see what they go to. Leech Seed is generally preferred to recover from Life Orb recoil and/or wear down opposing Pokemon, but Glare is also an option to cripple Choice Scarf users like Genesect (assuming you have a sub) before they can revenge kill you. If you are not using Leech Seed, do not use Life Orb as this does not work well in tandem with Substitute otherwise.

The reason Registeel is not OU is because it simply cannot stand up to the powerhouses of OU. A different Steel-type wall would serve you better. Skarmory seems like it would work perfectly as it has similar defenses when compared to Registeel, but is also neutral to Fighting rather than weak to it.

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird

Needs little explanation. Spike up after forcing out a physical wall, phaze stat-uppers, Brave Bird Breloom, Roost to heal off damage. Shed Shell is the preferred option as it lets you switch out against Chandelure and Magnezone.

Now, of course you lose a Stealth Rocker. You're obviously going to need one, otherwise fliers will be a problem. Haxorus seems out of place, so I think it can be replaced with a good Stealth Rock user. Heatran seems like it would work perfectly, since you'll have 3 Pokemon weak to Fire if you use Serperior, so Heatran can find many opportunities to switch in to get a free Flash Fire boost.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 100 SDef / 160 Spe
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Will-O-Wisp/Toxic

Special wall to use in tandem with Skarmory; Skarmory sponges the physical assaults aimed towards Heatran and dodges Earthquakes aimed towards it, Heatran gets Flash Fire boosts on moves like Flamethrower and Flare Blitz aimed towards Skarmory, and Lava Plume's 30% chance to burn and/or Will-O-Wisp can make Skarmory's job of walling physical attackers easier! Stealth Rock lets you set up those necessary Stealth Rocks, and Skarmory can pick things up from there. Protect lets you scout attacks (and see what move Choice users like Landorus want to use), and I would prefer to use Will-O-Wisp to help guarantee physical attackers get crippled, especially since Toxic could interfere with Lava Plume.

Now, after those changes, you'll be having loads of trouble with Volcarona, and Dragon Dance users like Salamence with Fire Blast or HP Flying (which will trouble Breloom). To fix this, I recommend running a Choice Scarf Terrakion over Gyarados.

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Rock Slide

Kills Volcarona with Stone Edge or Rock Slide, and Close Combat gets rid of Lucario, who can be trouble for Breloom if boosted. X-Scissor is for threats like Alakazam and Latios. The last moveslot (Rock Slide) is almost filler since Terrakion's movepool is shit, though it helps for one-shotting Volcarona more easily.

Also, move 32 of Breloom's HP EVs into Attack.

Also, I assume you meant Bullet Seed on Breloom, and not Bullet Punch? Breloom doesn't learn Bullet Punch.

Hope this rate helped.

EDIT: No offense, but... You're a complete noob. Not only is this shown by the fact that I changed about 83% of your team, but by this part of Breloom's description:

Also, spore is very useful to spread sleep.

Sleep Clause would prevent you from doing this. Here is a definition of Sleep Clause, straight from http://www.smogon.com/bw/banlist/ :

You lose if, at the end of your turn, two of your opponent's Pokemon were put to sleep by a move you used but were not forced into, and neither have had their sleep removed since then.

Basically, you cannot "spread sleep". The simulator will automatically prevent the move from working, and the only way to be "forced into it" is if both of these apply in some way:

  • You must use it due to Encore, lack of PP in all other moves, Choice item (i.e. tricked a Choice Scarf when you used the move), or some kind of combination of Disable, Torment, and lack of PP.
  • You cannot switch out due to being under the effects of trapping moves like Mean Look, trapping abilities like Shadow Tag, Ingrain (when not having Baton Pass in your moveset), or all other Pokemon fainted.
My advice to you is to actually learn about the metagame before you post another team. Thank you, have a good day. =3

Thanks everyone for helping :D

@mklo14 waterfall is STAB
also resttalk gyara has been pretty good for me, but i'll try the new set
thanks :)

@Charlie Scene
thanks for the Jirachi idea-looks pretty good

@LucaroarkZ
i am on Pokemon Online

Good for a first team, I would use metagross instead of registeel. metagross can take hits well, but can kill quite easier thanks to high attack AND meteor mash. it also has bullet punch as a revenge kill, something registeel lacks, and can use stealth rock or reflect/light screen to hurt the opponent or help youself. It also doesnt need to worry about fight types, which are bad for registel ESPECIALLY with things like conkeldurr and terrakion who have more than enogh HP to take a few siesmic tosses and will take the switch in opportunity to swords dance or activate guts.
