Project National Dex OU: Break This Core (Week 34: Mega Latias + Kartana + Victini)

Alomomola (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Toxic
- Scald
- Protect

could either protect on victini when it's using final gambit, or could wish and thanks to regen, it could switch to cc resist because it will be in the range for shifu-r and come in back again, in both scenarios it just scalds shifu-r then wishes for itself or wishpasses to a surging strikes resist.

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 244-288 (45.6 - 53.9%) -- 46.9% chance to 2HKO

it could take a hit and then burn shifu-r with scald

Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Night Shade
- Recover
- Protect
- Will-O-Wisp

Mega Sableye is able to handle the two really well if played correctly. Being a Ghost-type, it can be brought in safely on a choice locked Urshifu or if you predict a Final Gambit from Victini. Since it's a Mega-Evolution, it also can't be tricked a Choice Scarf by Victini. Mega Sableye is able to tank two V-Creates giving it a turn to use Night Shade, and a turn to use Recover right after. Alternating between the two until Victini dies is really easy since Victini lacks proper recovery, and can get choice locked easily. Mega Sableye is a little bit more frail to Surging Strikes from Urshifu, but if it lands a Will-O-Wisp the first turn, Mega Sableye can alternate between Recover, Night Shade, and Protect to use the burn tick damage to Sableye's advantage.

23 March: Will have more explanations later since i'm stuck with this mon due to not realising that the scarf set here has 252 HP instead of 252 Atk

Situation 1: High Health Victini(124/30.7%)
Switch in against urshifu, substitute up after it u-turns, thinking that it could recklessly go for final gambit since it fears the potential tech of power whip or flyinium-z bounce. we dragon dance up as victini breaks the sub with v-create since u-turn won't break it. Dragon Dance again while soaking up the v-create.
331(Max Hp) - 54(u-turn max) - 82(Sub that absorbs v-create) - 105(v-create max roll since we confirmed that it isn't locked to u-turn which will break the sub if we mega and vice versa) - 54(jet max roll) = 36 remaining HP
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike U-turn vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados: 46-54 (13.8 - 16.3%) -- possible 7HKO
0 Atk Victini V-create vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados-Mega: 89-105 (26.8 - 31.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados-Mega: 45-54 (13.5 - 16.3%) -- possible 7HKO
0 Atk Victini U-turn vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados: 31-36 (9.3 - 10.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Situation 2: Low health victini(123/30.4% or lower)
The urshifu have no choice but to stay in and click surging strikes. We shall grab a dragon dance as it does so, staying non mega in case it recklessly click u-turns for some reason, then we would still have enough health to survive a final gambit so we will just grab another ddance if that happens. Otherwise we will just mega and power whip the urshifu since the victini won't switch in, otherwise it will do literally nothing. After that victini will have to final gambit, else it can't ko gyarados
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados-Mega on a critical hit: 129-153 (38.9 - 46.2%) -- approx. 3HKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados on a critical hit: 165-198 (49.8 - 59.8%) -- approx. 99.6% chance to 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Mold Breaker Gyarados Power Whip vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 382-450 (112 - 131.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
24 March: Almost there... saving here since i'm gonna sleep and don't want to retype the long paragraph if my computer restarts or some stupid stuff happens.
25 March: don't vote for this one it sucks

In heatran vs victini, tran only need to spam toxic, If the opponent switch with u-turn to urshifu, then we switch to slowbro and stall it.
In heatran vs urshifu maybe we got a little more complicated. But we still can win. Just a switch to slowbro, if u-turn, go to heatran until the opp doesn't switch. Then we got it.

Even if we flip the scenario and switch into a choice locked tini with vcreate, do the same thing. The only problem is gambit and for that u have to sub beforehand
which means that it doesn't work in that situation, after urshifu switches in it will just cc through the sub before you attack, meaning that you won't have a sub against victini and it will just final gambit after urshifu faints unless it's super low in health.

Directly stolen from SSOU. All you need to do is set up light screen (reflect too if possible) then u turn into hawlucha and sd while they prolly switch into kyurem then kill everything. GG. 252 Atk Zapdos-Galar Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Lopunny-Mega: 404-476 (149 - 175.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kyurem also can't switch into brave bird:
252 Atk Zapdos-Galar Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 208-246 (53.1 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Lopunny-Mega Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Zapdos-Galar: 75-88 (23.3 - 27.4%) -- 64.3% chance to 4HKO

Not sure why the Mega Latios set doesn't have Roost/Recover (especially since Aura and EQ hit the same targets and Aura does it better), but since it doesn't Zard-Y breaks the core with ease. Someone could definitely make a better spread as this is made for only this situation in mind, which allows it to survive a draining kiss + ice beam with 2 rounds of leftovers recovery. Explanations and calcs below.

Get a free switch against fini, bulk up(make sure terrain is up so you can't get burned by a gambling scald) then click your super effective hits. Even if fini stayed in and kissed it will need a crit to be able to let latios finish everything. Zarude is going to get 2 leftovers recovery no matter what.

+1 176 Atk Zarude Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Latios-Mega: 414-488 (137.5 - 162.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

371(Max HP) - 132(kiss max roll) + 46(2 turns of lefties recovery) - 284(beam max roll) = 1 Remaining HP left
Hey you found this, so here's a note. Originally it was gonna be a 401 HP spread but i decided the power sacrifice is way too huge and went with this.
