Project NBT S3W5: le monke

By a slim 1-point margin, the winner of Season 2, Week 6 is...

RestTalk by Shengineer!
RestTalk Milotic

:sv/milotic:

Milotic @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Marvel Scale
Tera Type: Ghost / Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Dragon Tail
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Rest turns Milotic into a great status absorber that no longer cares about the ticking clock from Toxic. It takes advantage of Marvel Scale's synergy with Rest, boosting Milotic's natural defense to incredible levels. Best used on bulky balance/stall teams while shuffling opponents into hazards using Dtail. Additional coolness points from the chance to pull Dragon Tail using Sleep Talk before the opponent even acts.

Thanks to everyone who participated and voted, plus a shoutout to LessThanThreeMan for coming in second with the Choice Scarf set! NBT will return very soon with Week 7!

S2W7: Muk-Alola

:sv/muk-alola:

Muk Alola has been a defensive staple of the NU tier and consistent progress maker since its arrival. This is thanks to its incredible typing and synergy between Poison Touch and Knock Off, which has long been the bane of many balance teams. Muk-Alola has quite the deep move pool to draw from, so this week, we'll explore what else this pile of goo can do! SubPunch? Gluttony? Curse? Mean Look? Or something far more sinister... the choice is yours!

RestTalk + 2 Attacks (Knock/Poison Jab/Clear Smog)
Knock + Poison Jab/Clear Smog + Drain Punch + Shadow Sneak/Protect @ Boots/Leftovers/Assault Vest

Submissions are open now and close Tuesday, November 5th around 7pm EST (GMT -4).

Adamant Nature

Was gonna right a fire comedic intro but... yeah I got nothin
Muk-Alola @ Throat Spray
Ability: Power of Alchemy
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rest
- Recycle
- Snarl
- Flamethrower
You want a muk set that ABSOLUTELY no one else is using, well look no further with recycle throat spray muk. (why do I do these things) So snarl activates throat spray raising muks Spatk and recycle lets you make more throat sprays to keep boosting. Since snarl is reducing the opponents Spatk, I tossed on investment to muks Physdef. Flamethrower as the coverage of choice and rest for sustainability.

Muk-Alola @ Choice Band
Ability: Poison Touch
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off
- Zen Headbutt
- Fire Punch

cb mukkers. Zen hits croak and plume, fire punch is just for steels.

You know what? I concede. Nothing I could ever come up with could top Diamonds_realm's Recycle + Throat Spray set. We are in the presence of a truly masterful chef.

NBT is canceled forever.
I lied. NBT is back!

S3W1: Those Who Snow (Ninetales-Alola)

:sv/ninetales-alola:

Ninetales-Alola has taken over the NU tier, becoming an incredible supporting AND offensive presence. In fact, it was so good they had to ban Cetitan instead! What sets do you think people are sleeping on?

Submission Deadline: Thursday, February 13, 19:00 GMT -5

No banned sets, but remember you get points for creativity ;)

Calm Mind Draining Kiss

:sv/ninetales alola:
Ninetales-Alola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Poison/Water
EVs: 164 HP / 160 SpA / 184 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Dark Pulse
- Pain Split
Coming in with a pretty unique set. CM draining kiss is a set I've seen used in SCL in RU, which somehow stole away the game. But here it is to terroize NU. This set is very fat, with its ability to sit on the field for a long time to acquire mutiple boosts in order to sweep the opposing team. Calm Mind and Draining Kiss are self explanatory, Calm Mind to boost your special attack and special defense, while Draining Kiss is a decent stab option that keeps you healthy. Dark Pulse hits Bronzong for good damage, and Pain Split can keep yourself healthy if you don't have enough boosts with Draining Kiss. The evs are as follows: Enough speed to outspeed Flygon, enough special attack to 3hit ko Bronzong with +2 dark pulse all of the time and the rest dumped into HP, with something like munkidori sludge bomb having a smallish chance to 2hit ko at +2. Tera Poison makes you immune to Toxic, while Tera Water is a good all round defensive tera type.

This set however, has one issue. Into any non Bronzong steel, it completely flops. That's why I think on something like hazard stack or the popular steel overwhelm cores, this set can be really good. Something such as A-tales and Munkidori alongside spikestack could be good.

This is a work in progress, but something like this could definetely be decent.

Nasty Veil
:sv/ninetales-alola:
Ninetales-Alola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Fire / Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Moonblast
- Tera Blast
- Aurora Veil

This set is intended to be multifunctional! At worst it sets veil (which is still very useful on offense builds) but can also sweep on its own and/or lure and break down steels for its teammates. With veil up it can potentially NP more easily as well! Either terablast type hits most steels, but fire also hits bronzong, (which i valued on the team composition it was on) while ground also hits amuk/incin harder (which are both neutral to moonblast anyways.) It could also be Blizzard or Freeze Dry as your stab over moonblast but I liked moonblast more here and felt like it had better neutral coverage while maintaining the higher base power which alotales needs with its lower spatt stat.

Replay: 1, 2, 3 (most games it seems to set veil x2 or np and bops a steel, but the flexibility is still nice)

Eject Veil

Thank you slice i forgot to finish this.

Ninetales-Alola @ Eject Button
Ability: Snow Cloak
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Blizzard
- Moonblast
- Encore

Well This is very simple you lead this and click veil when you feel you getting hit. Is good in HO paired with setup mons that enjoy veil.
Absolutely boring and an all in. Encore is there to prevent counter setup and the double stab is what this mon have going offensively
It could be EVd to be fast and bulky but honestly you are playing HO so go for the dmg.
If you are going balance go for boots.

Next week is coming soon for a mon that's been in the tier a while, but still holds great potential...

S3W2: Pressure Makes Diamonds (Diancie)

:sv/diancie:

Diancie has been a mainstay in NU for a long time now, and has dominated both tournaments and ladder. In my opinion, it's even a candidate for S-tier! Let's see what y'all can cook up this week, but I will cheat and add my own set first...

Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 2nd, 19:00 GMT -5

Meteor Beam + Moonblast + Earth Power + Trick Room/Rock Polish/Stealth Rock
Diamond Storm + Body Press + Spikes/Stealth Rock + Encore/Moonblast

Sub + Encore

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Tera Type: Dragon/Water
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 80 SpD / 160 Spe
Impish Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Body Press
- Substitute
- Encore

This set excels at 1v1ing bulky Steels while also trading favorably (and sometimes sweeping) against offensive teams. Encore locks opponents into setup moves like Iron Defense or failed status moves used against Diancie's Substitute. Speaking of Substitute, it's incredibly useful to dodge status moves like Amoonguss's Toxic and Incineroar's Will-o-Wisp, as well as dodging the secondary effects of moves like Knock Off, Sludge Bomb, and Scald (which can be easily lived after a Tera Dragon or Water.) Speed investment helps you get the jump on Vaporeon and defensive Incineroar, a Defense-boosting nature improves the damage output from Body Press, while the Special Defense investment helps your Substitute live hits from Galarian Slowbro. The proof is in the pudding, so check out some replays below!
