Necrozma-Dusk-Mane @ Life Orb
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Sunsteel Strike
While Necrozma-DM is one of the best defensive Pokemon in the tier, it can also be a sweeper with Dragon Dance. In particular, Life Orb-boosted Stone Edge allows it to lure in and KO both Ho-Oh and Yveltal, two common checks. At +1, Earthquake 2HKOes opposing Necrozma-DM, on top of OHKOing Eternatus and Zacian-C. Sunsteel Strike hits Calyrex-S and Xerneas hard, allowing Necrozma-DM to check the latter. It can also set up with ease thanks to its bulk and typing, letting it use Dragon Dance against opposing Necrozma-DM, Eternatus, and Xerneas.
This set is stopped cold by defensive Zygarde-C and Lunala, and it struggles against fast revenge killers such as Calyrex-S, which outspeeds it even after a Dragon Dance. As such, specially inclined teammates like Xerneas and Yveltal can help against Zygarde-C and Lunala while appreciating the removal of Ho-Oh and Yveltal. Grimmsnarl is another partner that can provide dual screens support to ease its setup. Similarly, Shuckle can use Sticky Web to let Necrozma-DM outspeed Calyrex-S at +1. This set gives up Stealth Rock, so make sure to include an entry hazard setter in your team; Tyranitar, Groudon, and Ferrothorn can be considered for this. Tyranitar also checks Calyrex-S.
