Name: Mamoswine
New Stats: 70 (-40) / 110 (-20) / 60 (-20) / 100 (+30) / 60 / 70 (-10) (470)
Removed Moves: Knock Off, Ice Shard (Piloswine still gets this), Freeze-Dry
Changed Abilities: Thick Fat is now replaced with Sheer Force
New Typing: None
New Moves: Focus Blast, Agility
Justification: Going a unexpected route, a mixed attacker! However, while it has gained Special Attack, it has lost a bit of speed and Attack, and a MASSIVE bulk cut. Sheer Force is replacing Thick Fat to have even more resistance cut. Knock Off for no more Dark coverage, Ice Shard to support it being slower than before, and Freeze-Dry to not hit Water-types super effectively. However, it does have Focus Blast to take care of Dark-types a bit more effectively. Agility also now exists if you want to risk your life for double Speed.
Competitive Insight: Far different from Piloswine, it's high powered moves amplified with Sheer Force and Life Orb makes it a great wallbreaker, and it's ability to hit on both sides makes it also dangerous. However, one does have to realize it does have a middling speed stat, poor bulk and defensive typing, and some unreliable moves. With no way to hit Water-types super effectively and a lack of both coverage and priority, one should be careful using it. Stealth Rock also exists, but thanks to it being neutral, at least it won't be easy pickings for it.

More later.

Name: Alolan Ninetales
Nerfed Stats: 73 HP / 67 Atk / 50 Def / 81 SpA / 100 SpD / 109 Spe
Removed Moves: NA
Removed Abilities: Snow Warning
New Ability: Magic Guard
Justification: Fairy type, so being more frail on the physical side and having Magic Guard makes sense thematically. This ability allows it to come into hazards and use LO with no downsides, and its supportive movepool like Encore and Nasty Plot can help stallbreak. It no longer sets Aurora Veil reliably without auto-hail, and even if paired with Abomasnow it wouldn't be that good of an idea to rely on it to set screens when Abo can just do it naturally + veil teams need more sweepers and coverage.
Competitive Insight:
Alolan Ninetales would trade its supportive role for a fast, special revenge killer. Being a Fairy-type this fast and viable would be great, as G-rap is very underwhelming in comparison, and Frosslass is more supportive as a Ghost-type with Spikes. Most Ground- and Dark-types of the tier can be revenge killed by a LO boosted Ice Beam or Moonblast, while Water-types and special walls like Silvally-Water and Clefairy need to be wary of Freeze Dry and Nasty Plot. It still struggles with Steel- and Fire-types, and cannot break Piloswine. The nerfed Def is also a noticeable handicap, as any of the many popular forms of Speed control like Choice Scarf Togedemaru, Sawk, and Toxicroak easily 1HKO. Alolan Ninetails would probably work best as a NP + 3 attacks sweeper, and a much needed fast mon for the tier.

Name: Gyarados
Nerfed Stats: 95 / 95 / 79 / 60 / 90 / 58
Removed Moves:
Earthquake, Stone Edge, Bulldoze, Bounce
Removed Abilities: Moxie
New Ability: Hyper Cutter
Justification: If Gyrados is to retain its role as a DD sweeper, it can't be s good as Scrafty was, but I don't want it to be as underwhelming as Flapple is at the moment. For it to be the premier DD sweeper, its huge Attack and workable Speed needed significant nerfs; putting its power on a Silvally playing field sounded right, and base 58 still loses to a ton of fast mons if Adamant like Wild Charge Rapidash and Gourg-Small. And at +2 Jolly, Gyra is still slower than Choice Scarf Toge, making it very plausible to be revenge killed. It's movepool drops prevents it from hitting Electric-, Poison-, and Grass-types for strong super effective damage like Rotom-S, Qwilfish, Eldegoss, and Abomasnow. Hyper Cutter over Moxie pretty much guarantees Intimidate's usage, and makes Gyra less threatening in the long run.
Competitive Insight:
The coverage Gyra is left with is a very strong combo of Waterfall and Power Whip. With Heavy-Duty Boots and Substitute, it can set up on a ton, and offensively pressures every Ground- and Water-type (besides Qwil) of the tier; Quagsire only has a 12.5% chance to be OHKO'd at full, but otherwise a physical sweeper naturally checking Quag is huge. This is another plus as there is a sever lack of viable offensive Waters, and while this coverage is great, the only comparison in Ludicolo is too weak. Gyra still has a lot of issues with a handful of phsywalls like Garbodor, Iron Defense Cofag, and non-Leaf Storm Eldegoss. Many faster, offensive mons can easily revenge kill Grya, while other offensive mons like the Rotoms, Drampa, and Flapple can stomach the coverage and 1HKO in return. Gyra will need adequate support for these mons, but as a sweeper it surely will do pretty well.

Nerfed Stats:

HP: 110
Attack: 130
Defense: 80
Sp. Atk: 70
Sp. Def: 60
Speed: 80 -> 50

Removed Moves: Earthquake, High Horsepower, Stomping Tantrum, Bulldoze
New Typing:
->

Abilities: Oblivious, Snow Cloak, Thick Fat -> Inner Focus
New Moves: None!

Justification:
Mamoswine always has, and always will be a straightforward yet powerful wallbreaker that bulldozes through the competition when played well. I wanted to keep the aggressive feeling of using Mamoswine as intact as possible, so I kept its offensive stats the same. By drastically reducing its speed and removing its neutrality to Stealth Rock, Mamoswine now requires a lot of careful hazard control and momentum to bring it in safely. The removal of Thick Fat also prevents it from muscling through Fire types like Rapidash and Silvally-Fire, while the removal of Ground attacks prevents it from hitting most NU ice resists super effectively. Mamoswine is now forced to use Knock Off more and still deal satisfactory amounts of damage, but now it's much more manageable while still powerful.

Competitive Insight: Mamoswine now performs like a slightly better Beartic. With a bit more bulk, Knock Off, and Earthquake in exchange for not having Beartic's Swords Dance, Mamoswine is now properly tuned for NU play. It is unable to 2hko some staple walls like Wishiwashi-School and Avalugg, but is able to significantly pressure them and break through the majority of the tier when given the hard-earned opportunity to do so.

Ha, what an interesting concept! Let's give it a go:

Name: Gyarados
Nerfed Stats: 95 / 85 (-40) / 79 / 60 / 100 / 81 (BST: 500)
Removed Moves:
Dragon Dance, Curse, Bounce, Power Whip (it shouldn't have got this in the first place, lol)
Added Moves: Thunder Fang, Superpower
Typing:
Water / Flying
Abilities:
Swift Swim / Anger Point
New Moves (If Any):
Justification:
Gyarados is a rare specimen of a mon that excels both offensively and defensively, so both aspects had to be nerfed somewhat. I set the additional challenge of keeping its BST at a respectable 500. With much lower Attack and no way of boosting with the loss of its boosting moves and Moxie (except for taking a critical hit, lol), it has been quite neutered. However, to keep it interesting I gave it back its prevolution's ability in Swift Swim, which lets it keep the option of being a decent Rain attacker with some coverage options as well. To nerf it further down into NU though, I also had to hinder its defensive prowess by removing its Flying typing and Intimidate. It still has Milotic-level bulk, but with no recovery or helpful defensive abilities.
Competitive Insight:
The most immediately obvious option is as a decently powerful rain sweeper with good bulk and coverage! Even with reduced defensive and offensive capabilities, this thing is more than capable of taking a few hits and dishing them out in return. An alternative would be a bulky support set with moves such as Dragon Tail, Thunder Wave and Taunt - however, this would be hampered by its worse typing and lack of defensive ability.

Unfort that I did not get the time nor the interest to keep this going, so lets just vote on what is subbed then move forward

Only one Obstagoon sub so lets work with that

Vote for either myself or Ho3nConfirm3d for Ninetales-Alola
Vote for either KuraiTenshi26 or Ticktock for Mamoswine
And a 3 way between thechurchofcage, myself or Ho3nConfirm3d for Gyarados. Hopefully if we get enough support we can continue this little project here.

Now a little something here. I will be releasing quite a few Pokemon that suck in higher tiers but are trapped up there for the time being + Slowbro-Garbage. helps build up our ranks and set us apart from NU alot quicker.

(But GALAR)

Now, with that being said, time for the next slate! Slate 3: Mythical Mayhem

Freeing Poliwrath, Comfey, and Galarbro seems a bit too hasty- Poliwrath has much, much better STAB attacks now, Comfey was a top tier NU pokemon last gen and has a fair chance of not dropping, and GalarBro has nice bulk+regen+nasty plot+perfect coverage, can't see it going NU. The other three should be fine

Name: Celebi
Nerfed Stats: 80/80/80/80/80/80 (BST: 480)
Removed Moves:
New Typing (If Any):
Psychic/Grass
New Ability (If Any): Aroma Veil
New Moves (If Any):
Justification:
All of its stats got lowered to bring it down to NU level. It loses its ability to absorb status it must be more careful this time. Aroma Veil fortunately lets it use its wide support and set-up movepool to use without the fear of Taunt and Encore. Its typing remains the same as it still gets a huge number of 7 weaknesses.
Competitive Insight: Can be used as a Hazard Setter, Cleric, or Set-up Sweeper.

Name: Jirachi
Nerfed Stats: 80/80/80/80/80/80 (BST: 480)
Removed Moves: Stealth Rock, Trick
New Typing (If Any): Psychic/Steel
New Ability (If Any): Overcoat
New Moves (If Any):
Justification:
Loses its ability to flinch spam and freeze/burn hax. It gains Overcoat which makes sense flavor-wise because its head is overcoated with a star.
Competitive Insight: Calm Mind sweeper, Wish passer

0870C0D6-472A-4CE6-8998-E29E3686B0EB.gif

Name: Keldeo
Nerfed Stats: 81/82/100/89/100/101 (-10/+10/+10/-40/+10/-7)
Removed Moves: Icy Wind, Calm Mind, Secret Sword, Close Combat.
New Typing (If Any): No.
New Ability (If Any): No.
New Moves (If Any): Aura Sphere, Scorching Sands.
Justification: Without its great Special Attack and with more bulk Keldeo makes up for a great bulky Special and Physical attacker in NU, depending on its team’s needs, but can’t be worthy in higher tiers anymore, considering many Pokémon easily wall him depending on the set. Maybe if Keldeo is too overwhelming Toxic can be removed from its learn set, but I wouldn’t be so sure of it.

Competitive Insight:

So, as I said Keldeo can run different sets in SS NU. Let’s start with the most likely ones and see their checks and counters. First of all, Calm Mind Substitute would have been too strong for the tier to wall with 81/100 defenses and as such it has been removed. First of all Keldeo can act as a great special stallbreaker with a set with Taunt/Scald/Toxic/Flip Turn, maximum Speed EVs, a speed favoring nature and Leftovers. If this Pokémon had Calm Mind pokémon like Cramorant would not be able to wall it unless healthy, but now that it’s gone Keldeo can’t hurt it in any single way except by Flip Turning out after Toxic, which definitely hurts Cramorant in the long run. (252 SpA Keldeo Scald vs. 160 HP / 0 SpD Cramorant: 53-63 (16.5 - 19.6%) -- possible 6HKO and it’s not even Specially Defensive). Basculin is also a free switch in for this pokémon, despite it fearing a burn, but most importantly Clefairy doesn’t fear absolutely anything from this set except Taunt and does huge damage with Moonblast. (252 SpA Keldeo Scald vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Clefairy: 64-76 (18.6 - 22%) -- possible 5HKO; 0 SpA Clefairy Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 134-162 (41.4 - 50.1%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO; can’t be 2HKO if running leftovers though.) Without Icy Wind Thwackey can also beat this set, and as such it’s very unsuccessful. Much the same can be said about an eventual Specs set, with Scald, Hydro Pump, Aura Sphere and Scorching Sands, although Hydro Pump with Specs threatens Clefairy with prior damage, although Keldeo without Toxic can easily cause Wishiwashi to come in for free. Toxicroak SHOULD wall this set, but to not make Keldeo too underwhelming Scorching Sands was added so that Toxicroak fears Keldeo (252+ SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Scorching Sands vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Toxicroak: 276-326 (89.9 - 106.1%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO). Now let’s think about a Physical set. While a stall breaker set is very similar to the special one, there is the possibility to run a Choice Band set with Sacred Sword/Liquidation/Poison Jab/Flip Turn; now this is a much better set, able to beat Clefairy with Poison Jab or Smart Strike (imo a better choice that beats Croak), Flip Turn deals a lot of damage and Liquidation and Sacred Sword are great STABs; don’t forget Cramorant is the perfect counter to this set, although some Rotom forms also fare well against it. Now to the Swords Dance set: since Calm Mind is gone, a Swords Dance/Substitute/Liquidation/Superpower set works pretty well. In case Poison Jab is used instead of Superpower, Palpitoad walls this set, while Croak, Cramorant and Water Silvally also fare well against it. Now to the last sets: specially and physically defensive. Although Keldeo loses much of its offensive power, it can become a strong, albeit quite niche, defensive pivot. A Physically Defensive set beats Silvally Fire, absolutely slays Arctovish (252+ Atk Choice Band Arctovish Fishious Rend (85 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Keldeo: 69-81 (17.8 - 20.9%) -- possible 5HKO), and through Taunt/Toxic also beats Quagsire, Sawk and Piloswine (which doesn’t want to eat Scald from 0 SpA EVs Keldeo anyway). Specially Defensive sets of Keldeo can beat Pokémon like offensive Froslass, Thievul (this is important) and can pivot into Haunter quite handily too. There are a ton of Keldeo counters and checks in the tier, which makes it, in my opinion, very balanced despite its abundance of sets with different answers.
