New and "creative" moveset/EV spread thread "Mark 2"

Status
Not open for further replies.
If you have a slash for EVERY SINGLE SLOT then there is like, four or five completely different sets "crammed" together. You need to slim it down. A good set should have only ONE slot with ANY options in it. Option 4 can have some slashes, but usually beyond that, the first three moves should be concrete.

Bah I realized registeel does the job better
I have a Different metagross to post now

Metagross@Life Orb/Expert Belt
Naive
Ev's: 20Atk 252 Sp atk 232 Speed
Meteor Mash
Hidden Power Fire
Grass Knot
Earthquake/ Icy Wind

This Metagross is design to be a wall breaker. Grass Knot 2HKO's bulky Suicune and OHKO's Swampert, Hidden Power Fire OHKO's forry, scizor and 2HKO's Skarmory. Meteor Mash is pure power. earthquake hits heatran and other metagross harder than Hp Fire. Icy wind can be used to slow down anything with base 115 and make them slower so you can KO them
232 hits 254 being able to outspeed max speed neutral Heatran

does Icy Wind 2HKO Salamence, or does it just fall short? Because if you could get in on an Outrage you could possibly 2HKO it before it could 2HKO you.

That same moveset is in the analysis. The only difference is that you gave it more speed and less attack, but it's the same concept.

True but heatran is really important to beat and you will also get outsped by a Timid Magnezone if you don't use a +speed nature
Icy wind By far 2hko's Sally
In fact its a OHKO with SR
Damage: 78.68% - 92.64%
thats a sally with 252 HP too

I made a moveset like that almost a year ago, except I had zen headbutt>meteor mash for hitting weezing (who isn't common nowadays, so its not that useful anymore)

UU Wall-Breaker Flareon

Flareon @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 28 Atk/228 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Electric]
- Superpower
- Double-edge

Despite being deceptively cuddly, Flareon has amazing offensive potential in the UU metagame. A Mild nature, 28 attack EVs, max special attack EVs and a Life Orb put its attack and special attack stats at roughtly 394 and 410, respectively. In UU, Flareon’s Fire Blast is 2nd only to Camerupt’s, but Camerupt doesn’t get Flash Fire.

The EVs above outspeed standard Rapid Spin Hitmontop (the standard set with the most speed) by 1 point to reach 223 speed. This also beats minimum speed Rotom as well as all other minimum speed base 90s. Basically, Flareon has enough speed to beat all of the most common UU walls and the power to dish out some serious pain. If you don’t care about RS Hitmontop or defensive Rotom, you can reduce the speed EVs to 136 to hit 200 (beating minimum speed base 80s) and then pour some more EVs into physical attack or HP.

The residual damage associated with this set is discouraging, I know. However, I think the sheer destructive power is worth it. Ideally, this Flareon will switch in once or twice and do irreparable damage to the opponent’s defensive end, allowing your other Pokemon to sweep. Plus, using Flareon wins you major cool points.

I chose Double-edge over Return because it gets some 2HKOs on important Pokemon that Return doesn’t, as shown below. However, Return is the better option in some situations if you’re positive you’ll have Stealth Rock support. Similarly, Bite is a more desirable physical attack against Hypno and Grumpig, but is generally inferior to Double-edge. Hidden Power Grass isn’t useful for Lanturn, but is better than Electric for Quagsire and Gastrodon (and maybe Omastar). If you’re okay with using Double-edge on Mantine then Grass is probably the better Hidden Power. Finally, Quick Attack is often useful for finishing off faster opponents and can replace one of the last two slots.

Offensive Calculations:

Fire Blast obviously OHKOs anything weak to fire

HP Grass vs. 252 HP / 252 SDef Careful Gastrodon: 69.01% - 81.22% 2HKO

So, yeah. Flareon hits kinda hard. Rawr.

To demonstrate that Flareon’s special defense (even without any investment) is decent, here are some Defensive Calculations:

114 SAtk Bold Claydol Psychic vs 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 29.15% - 34.32% 3HKO w/ SR
114 SAtk Bold Claydol Earth Power vs 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 58.67% - 69.00% 2HKO

4 SAtk Bold Blastoise Surf vs 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 62.73% - 73.80% 2HKO
(After Stealth Rock, Life Orb will often bring Flareon into OHKO range after 1 attack if Mantine or Blastoise switch in on anything that isn’t a 2HKO.)
252 SAtk Modest Specs Glaceon Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 43.91% - 51.66% small chance to 2HKO w/o SR
252 SAtk Timid Specs Glaceon Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 40.22% - 47.23% 3HKO w/o SR
252 SAtk Modest Specs Venusaur Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SDef Mild Flareon: 53.87% - 63.47% 3HKO w/o SR factoring in the SAtk drop

Okay, I’m done with calculations now. xD

In summary, Flareon is an incredible wallbreaker with an awesome fire immunity and passable special defense. He needs more love. If people like this set, I’ll fix it up and submit it to the Analysis Workshop, since there are no good offensive Flareon sets on the website. Feedback would be appreciated. ^^

Could this work?

Gyarados @ Leftovers
EVs: I don't know yet.
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Subsitute
- Torment
- Waterfall

Think. What pokemons are the best Gyarados counters? Starmie with Thunderbolt, Vaporeon with HP Electric, Weezing with Thunderbolt etc. But this set owns them all! The idea is set a Subsitute and then Torment the incoming Electric attack.. Let's say Thunderbolt/Surf Starmie switchs in and you Torment her Thunderbolt. Then you can set up and sweep. You need some luck but with right support this could work, right?

I agree. Let's even use your example of Starmie (assuming not choiced). Starmie uses Tbolt and breaks the sub while Gyarados uses Torment. Starmie attacks with something else while Gyarados DDs. Gyarados fails to KO with +1 NVE waterfall obviously, and then Starmie can KO with Tbolt.

Salamence

Hey guys, I have found a moveset for this dragon on shoddy (I am not too sure if anyone has used something like this before). Anyways:

Salamence@Focus Sash / Yache Berry / Lum Berry
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SpD) / Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpD)
EVs: 252 Atk / 120 SpA / 136 Spe
Moveset:
Dragon Dance
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Fire Blast / Flamethrower / Stone Edge / Fire Fang

Although Salamence has overall above average defenses plus Intimidate, the vulnerability to Ice attacks high. This set may used as a lead, as Stealth rock is not present in turn 1. Focus Sash prevents any OHKOs, while Yache Berry is for taking an Ice Attack. Lum Berry is here if you hate being statused or want to do a second Outrage.

Outrage is the main STAB here. As a non-legendary Pokemon, Salamence is the pokemon that has the highest attack stat with STAB Outrage. Dragon Claw is here if you are really annoyed being locked into a Steel or the confusion, but the sginificant power drop is absolutely not appealling.
Earthquake is a very good attack along with a Dragon STAB, as now only Bronzong (Levitate) and Skarmory resist the combination. The last slot should be a fire attack, as then nothing resists the combination. Fire Blast is a very powerful attack, while Flamethrower deals average damage and has better accuracy and pp. If you really want to go for physical, Stone Edge and Fire Fang are options, but Fire Blast is really what you should go for.

This is a slight twist of the DD-Mence in the analysis. The EVs listed are for the Focus Sash users , as that kind of Salamence is not count as bulky anymore. Max Attack (252 Atk EVs, +Atk Nature) is important for the power of Outrage, and it does about 41% to Bronzong after a DD. 136 EVs of speed reaches 270, as recommeded in the analysis. The rest goes to Special attack.

Sorry, but those calcs aren't impressive, and by choosing a Mild nature you're lowering Flareon's only good stat. You also will die after getting something because of Double Edge-LO recoil, but you already stated that.

AND, Stellar already posted this in the Platinum Updates.

Scarf MixGator?

Feraligatr @ Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Nature: Rash
EVs: 222 Atk, 60 SpA, 228 Spe
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake / Crunch
- Superpower / Rock Slide

Before you just forget this thing by looking at it's stats, let me compare it to a somewhat similiar Pokemon: Flygon. Feraligatr has 1 less base SpA, 5 more Atk, but less speed. Flygon's been opperating with a Scarf set since way before Platinum and doing pretty good.

This Feraligatr can serve as a revenge killer to various threats, or by using Life Orb a decent mix sweeper. Surf is a garunteed 2HKO on most Hippowdown and pretty much an bulky ground. Ice Beam OHKO's 120 HP Salamance after sandstorm or stealth rock. The physical options can vary: Earthquake is always good for steel types, Crunch for Starmie and revenge killing Azelf / Gengar. Superpower for Blissey or Rock Slide to do a little bit to Gyarados.

Mega Stall Rein

365.png
@ Leftovers
Ability : Ice Body
Impish Nature
EV: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 Atk

This is a little bit different from the old Stallrein. Protect is good move when it's paired up with leftovers and Ice Body it gives you free turns to heal off. Predict a switch out use Substitute, Toxic, protect. If you need an offensive tool use Dive, and while your underground you get free turns to heal. It's just an annoying way for this thing to go down when used correctly.

Ah, I didn't know about Stellar's set. I guess mine is just a more special-attack focused version of that one.

Could you explain to me why these calcs are unimpressive?

I realize that choosing Mild over Lonely forces the use of Double-edge instead of Return because of the potential power drop, but I really like how hard he hits on the special side.

Mix mence with DD has been done like since the birth of mence. That's nothing new.

Check out my mence in my avatar, it looks awesome!
