NEW AMON AMARTH =D can't wait till March 29!

anyway, i want some doom bands, the only one i know of is Saint Vitus.

oh and why is mainstream metal bad? not saying i like them but i don't hate them, but why do most metalheads hate them?

popemobile, i've listened to At The Gates and Necros Christos and Drawn And Quartered. and i fucking love them. thanks.

^You don't know of Candlemass? They're the ultimate Doom Metal band tbh.

Mainstream doesn't make it bad. Being bad makes it bad. Most mainstream metal caters itself musically to be more accessible to the general population (who have awful music taste). Therefore, most mainstream metal is bad.

Meh, most of the underground black and death metal scene caters to the fanbase just as much if not more than the big mainstream bands.

just to you

I'm sorry but that's not a valid argument. I could just as easily say your wrong because mainstream sounds awful only to you. Not only that, but if I did, I'd have a more substantial argument considering that mainstream has a far larger following than underground.

But I won't say that, because saying a statement like that is completely illogical, hypocritical, and false. "You're wrong because I said so," is just so fucking weak.

Actually, I'd like some examples of bands in the "mainstream" that have sold out, and make worse music than before because of it. Because I'm, currently hard pressed to think of any that isn't named Metallica.

why does it matter whether or not a band has sold out

Fair enough, I was just thinking about the general topic of catering to an audience, and I can only see selling out as the only way that catering to an audience is a bad thing.

well anyways, I'm gonna post some music that has shitty production quality, terrible musicianship and sounds like ten thousand other songs

Dead Congregation - Graves of the Archangels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16a-6lW4Myg

Bastard Priest - Under the Hammer of Destruction
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myHbwTciKkU

Adorior - Author of Incest
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Hraln8rGmA

Nocturnal Blood - Devastated Graves - The Morbid Celebration
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n38K_KCNgA

You are a terrible judge of production quality. Only two of those bands have shitty production.

Edit: After giving them a better listen, only one has terrible musicianship, and only one sounds like complete unoriginality.

I was just joking because I actually like all those songs and was gonna post them anyway, although now I'd like to hear which ones are unoriginal and which ones are terrible musicians.

Although I can already guess that you'll probably say Nocturnal Blood for those because you don't really know what you're talking about.

Not terrible musicians. Just terrible musicianship, i.e. bland writing. I actually would've said Nocturnal Blood for that category because the song had little to no real musical content, and was more going for just the atmosphere created by the music, which I can slightly understand but don't appreciate. As for unoriginal I'd say Adorior. Production was good, but holy shit did that song sound like Slayer. I listened to another Adorior song to see if they were always like that, and it was just generic black metal. Gave 'em one more shot and found another Slayer song, Slayer leads and all.

That all aside, Dead Congregation is pretty sick, to be honest. They weren't any of the three sins of underground Death and Black Metal. The vocals can be passed on, but luckily, they're really low in the mix.

By the by, I'd post more bands, but I don't listen to anything relatively new, and generally don't ever go out in search of bands. But I will selfishly promote the band that some of my friends are in.

Warbringer- Prey for Death

Singer is ass, riffs are generic for the most part, but I cannot lie, I enjoy the drum work. Nothing fancy, just very tasteful.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I knew you were joking. The Production quality comment was a tongue in cheek comment. The edit about the other stuff was after I actually gave them all a listen to try 'em out.

I'm glad you like Dead Congregation because I happen to think that album is one of the best of the decade (or last decade, I guess). I'm really not hearing any slayer vibe at all from Adorior but whatever. Anyways I'm gonna post some more black/death metal later which you can judge or not but mostly just recs that I hope people will like

I don't really know of anything that sounds like that because I'm not actually all that well versed in black metal. I WILL however recommend you check out Inquisition because they own.

System of a Down is one of my favorite metal bands (though I have no fucking idea what genre they belong to. Alternative metal? Progressive? Maybe nu metal?). A few of my favorite songs from them are BYOB, Chop Suey!, Toxicity and Hypnotize.

Unfortunately though, I think they are on hiatus =/

@Nevermore - D666 and Enslaved are amazing.

@Limewire - They're back together. A good bit of their stuff isn't really metal though.

Has anybody else heard of Control Human Delete? They're sweet industrial BM.

imo soad's best is the s/t, but i quite like all of their albums. but yeah they're like alt rock/nu metal or whatever. i wouldn't really call them progressive...
