new metalheads thread

well then

I debated not posting this because there is quite a bit of hard rock and heavy psych on this, but i figured there is enough traditional doom metal and a just a tad of stoner metal too for it to count.

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Lust
uncle-acid-and-the-deadbeats-blood-lust-lp-2011.jpg

One of my favorite bands I've stumbled across in a while, this album came out in May 2011. Their sound is somewhat Sabbathian with a big helping of both psychedelia and hard rock. Their singer is fantastic, perfect for the music; if it wasn't for the fact that it was Uncle Acid, I would assume the lead singer was female (and who knows, maybe it is? Personal info was a bit hard to come by for this group). Can't recommend this album highly enough.

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Death's Door

agreeing that uncle acid is pretty excellent. there's been a fair amount of good doom lately, pallbearer and pilgrim in particular.

Currently I'm interested in Deicide, MaYan, Megadeth, Job For a Cowboy's newest Death Metal album, Cannibal Corpse's new stuff coming out soon and even still enjoying Behemoth.

Hello everyone...

If this thread is for people that like metal, then some of you might already know this website:

http://www.metalstorm.net/

I do a lot of work to keep this website going... I get to interview bands, review shows and albums, etc. - and I believe it is the best metal website out there - so go and check it out! There's everything on there really, a band database, forums, reviews, interviews, you can build your personal music collection and stuff with your profile... really worth checking out.

Personally, I've been listening to metal for a long time and know pretty much all there is to know... I guess I am a metal journalist after all. I used to be a massive power metal fan, but more and more lately I've just been into death metal more than anything.

I like all sorts though, most kinds of metal... last week I was at a Decapitated/Aborted show, and tomorrow I'm on the guestlist for Killing Joke - so there's quite some variation there, hahaha.

my current favorites is:

Rammstein!!

gonig to there concert at south florida april 20, 2012

back from the dead like a zombie

The chances that no one will listen to any of this are fairly high, but whatever I've found so much cool stuff that I don't care. None of this is particularly recent, just new to me.

Dolorian - Ivory Artery (listed as doom metal but pretty hard to classify for me)

Thundersteel is such a fucking great album, no filler on it at all
ignore the abysmal album cover and listen to it
Riot_-_Thundersteel_-_Front.jpg

it's as good as the cover is bad

ok i will dump some new stuff too why not.

klabautamann (proggy black metal) - basically german enslaved, that should be all that is necessary for me to say.
khonsu (black metal, sorta industrial)
dämmerfarben (black metal)
ondskapt (black metal)
temple (doom metal, has some death elements) - i left this sitting around for a couple of months before listening to it and regretted it as it's so good.
krallice (avant-garde black metal)

and that is all i remember.

I fired up some bongripper today, SWD one of my favorite albums of 2010. I actually haven't been listening to too much music in general in a while but I've been getting back into it in the past couple weeks.

Recognizing that my tastes are radically different than the norm in this thread and proceeding with the ideology of "LIKE I GIVE A FUCK."

The Faceless came out with a new album in August.

Different from their previous efforts, but I like it.

Been on a folk Metal Binge lately (Read: past few years of my life). Some recent releases/finds I enjoyed.

Eluveitie:

More writing and musical presence from their Hurdy Gurdy player Anna Murphy this time around.

Ensiferum:

This album has grown on me. It's less aggressive than what they used to do, but it's just... cohesive... I guess... I'm digging this softer tone they've found with Petri now; no longer suffering from the "I miss Jari" Syndrome.

Speaking of Jari... it is coming next month. After 6 years since the beginning of recording, and endless production road-blocks and hiccups. Time (Part I of two because disc space power is not strong enough) is coming.

What has this maniacal bastard done?

Ok, I'm done sullying the tastes of this thread now. As you were.

IF NOTHING ELSE, WATCH THIS.

Eluveitie is pretty great, though i like their old stuff better.

and that Nekrogoblin video...the music is terrible, but the video itself is...well it's at least a little bit humorous.

The Great Old Ones: Al Azif

this is as-of July, so i need to add a few more. also i'm being liberal with the term "metal", because so is everyone else in this thread.

I'ma give a little back story on this because I think it's interesting.

Alright, so I heard this band called Wilderun at Pagan Fest in Worcester Massachusetts back around March. They killed it and I loved every single song they played in their set. They had such a great and defined sound I just assumed they were a Folk Metal band I had never heard of and needed to look up later.

When I looked it up later the internet gave me a good old, "What huh?" with a look of askance, and I was very sad.

A week or so ago I look them up again and apparently that Pagan Fest was their first ever gig. They were so new at the time that they didn't even exist on the internet. They're a band out of Boston (Berklee School of Music kids) who draws heavy influence from American/British Colonial Folk tunes.

Their first Album came out literally a few hours ago, and after just listening to it I love the hell out of it. 4 (maybe more) songs of the 7 are just straight arrangements of old folk-tunes (How Stands the Glass Around, Storm Along, The Coasts of High Barbary, The Dying Californian) and each one is fantastically done. I love the crisp clarity of the production and the overall breadth of the sound, especially when I don't think any production label has these guys. Impressive product for an out of the garage group.

Enough geeking out about the concept, here have a sample song:

Okay, so recently I've mostly been listening to pop punk (my friend hosts shows in his garage), but I still have all of this metal on my iPod that I listen to. I haven't been getting much music recently, but the two metal bands I've been listening to somewhat excessively are Periphery and Between the Buried and Me. Hot DAMN is their new stuff good.

Okay, I didn't know this was out yet, but I can't find videos for most of The Parallax I so this'll do :D

Wintersun is streaming their new album on their website.

I started listening to the first song and my jaw dropped and I started laughing like a madman. If this first song is any indication of the rest of the album, then, fuck man I don't even know. This is insane.
