Landorus-Therian @ Red Card
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Swords Dance

This is a weird gimmick set I used on my latest hyper offense team. Red Card works as an emergency check to Hawlucha and some other set up sweepers (but mainly Hawlucha). It can also be useful when both me and the opponent lead with Lando-T and the opponent uses HP Ice instead of SR, it drags him out and he will have a hard time setting up SR later in the game.

I'm honestly amazed that noone subbed this even tho it's the best non-analysis set barring maybe defensive Scarf and it's not in the list of banned sets, so I got permission to post a second sub

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic / U-turn

We all know what this does: it pressures Mega Scizor and Kartana super duper nicely, both of which give defensive Lando-T giant headaches. Faster spreads for timid Magearna, modest Heatran, timid Heatran, or absolute max or whatever else are also options; this really isn't rocket science.

Voting stage has once again begun!

For the poll on the top
For the next case study, I think we should do Tyranitar, because we've already done Clefable recently, and Tornadus's moveset leaves a lot to be desired and it will probably not yield a lot of varying sets. Tyranitar, on the other hand, has a gargantuan moveset, complete with a ton of set-up moves and status conditions, as well as having 6 generations worth of sets it can pick and choose from, like Scarf T-tar and others. It also has a nice cavalcade of move options for specific lures, which would probably give it the best set variety.

Also it learns Block and Tornadus doesn't learn a trapping move so you know where my loyalties lie

I think Salamence would be a cool option for next week. It differentiates itself from other dragons with its solid 100 speed tier (notably outspeeds Lele and Lando), and has a very wide movepool. It's also been forgotten about since early SM and I feel that it deserves to be explored more.

Thanks to everyone who voted! With an overwhelming majority, KuraiTenshi26's Imprison Suicide Lead Wins!

Continuing with our theme of majorities, Tyranitar has been near unanimously voted in as our next case study! Being the embodiment of ADV OU as well as being a consistent top-tier threat, Tyranitar has often been considered the epitome of competitive 'mons - and it's not hard to see why. Deadline for submissions will be the 6th of April.

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Fire Punch

Additional Rules
Mega Tyranitar is banned from submissions.

why is mega tar banned

Reserving Support / Utility Ttar

tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Atk / 8 Def / 64 SpA / 24 SpD / 36 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Okay so, I'll preface this with the fact that the moves and EVs are entirely customisable, depending on what you want the set to do. For this set, the EVs allow it to live a Jolly Earthquake from Landorus after Rocks always. The SpA allows it to always OHKO offensive Landorus back with Ice Beam. The Atk EVs allow you to 2HKO AV Magearna with Earthquake, and the SpDef EVs are just filler. Stealth Rock is on the set bc lol it's rocks, Pursuit is nice to weaken stuff like Heatran for potential partners, Earthquake just generally hits a lot of stuff in the tier and Ice Beam is for Landorus, Zygarde, Gliscor and Garchomp that might try to come in on an Edge which Ttar usually carries. yes i know mega does this better but it's banned

Taunt 3 Attacks Tyranitar
tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Icium Z / Rockium Z
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

The idea of this set is that it's able to break defensive cores more easily because it's not choice-locked and has the ability to deal with other common defensive mons like M-Scizor, Ferro, Lando, and Bulu with its strong coverage options, and is able to Taunt fat mons like Pex, Clef, and Hippo which are able to stomach its non-choice band attacks/coverage. I chose Icium Z to be able to OHKO even defensive variants of Lando and help its match-up versus Quag and Hippo, taking less damage in the process and needing to Taunt less. Rockium Z is also a usable option to be able to deal with Pex, Steela and M-Venu better, although Sp. Def Pex is 2HKO'ed after Rocks, can be taunted, Steela is uncommon rn, and M-Venu isn't really doing that much damage back and is unable to heal with Synthesis while sand is up.

Here are some calcs to show the power of King Ttar:
-1 252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-Therian: 192-228 (50.2 - 59.6%) -- 78.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

-1 252+ Atk Tyranitar Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-Therian: 360-424 (94.2 - 110.9%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Hippowdon: 130-154 (30.9 - 36.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Hippowdon: 240-284 (57.1 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 127-150 (41.9 - 49.5%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock, sandstorm damage, and Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 229-270 (75.5 - 89.1%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock, sandstorm damage, and Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 137-162 (34.7 - 41.1%) -- 68.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 48 Def Ferrothorn: 280-332 (79.5 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Fire Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Scizor-Mega: 212-252 (61.8 - 73.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 164-194 (47.8 - 56.5%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Grassy Terrain recovery

252+ Atk Tyranitar Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 306-360 (89.2 - 104.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after sandstorm damage and Grassy Terrain recovery
