Project Next Best Thing: USUM UU (Week 45: Jellicent - Submissions)

Slowbro @ Tanga Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Fire Blast
- Counter

Dedicated Scizor Lure Bro. With Tanga, Bro is more than capable of withstanding a +2 Bug bite from Offensive SD Sciz and replying with fire blast. (+2 Knock won't kill it from FULL either unless rocks are up and even then the roll is in Bro's favor, if you're curious about a weird SD knock variant.)
Scald and Slack are to be casual old Bro and trick Sciz into thinking it can beat you if it plays around scald burns. Fire Blast is to help Lure Scizor, Counter also helps Lure Scizor, as it lets Bro punish Scizor's teammates when its U-turned on, especially if it used tanga, and also helps Bro better punish the band variants since Tanga fire blast is more oriented toward offensive SD.

I couldn't think of anything for vanilla Slowbro, but here's one for Mega

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet nature
- Trick Room
- Surf
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Fire Blast / Ice Beam

Designed as a late game sweeper, while it's weaker than Life Orb Reuniclus it is much bulkier and also has Water STAB. Trick Room turns Slowbro's good awful Speed on its head, letting it outrun everything. Surf is a strong STAB with no drawback. Psychic hits harder, while Psyshock can 2HKO Blissey after some chip damage. Fire Blast hits Grass and Steel types hard while Ice Beam trades hitting Steel types for Dragon types. EVs maximise power and overall bulk.

The Bro be chilling. So I've made an AV Slowbro for you all today because really I don't know what to make for Mega Bro. This set acts as a bulky special pivot to come on things like Nidoking, Nihilego (non Electrium variants), Latias, and other special attackers while hitting back or switching out to recover from Regenrator. Future Sight threatens your opponent to switch into their psychic resist or dark type which allows you to switch into your check or counter and can open free turns for you. Scald is simply used as a water stab and you can fish for burns, Fire Blast is used to lure in Steels, and Ice Beam is extra coverage for things like Hydreigon, Mega Alt, and other Dragons.

Hope you all like the set!

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

Standard Trick Room Slowbro, but with Weakness Policy instead, to take advantage of Slowbro's Bulk and Plethora of Weaknesses. Generally, you would switch Slowbro in on a Pokemon that it forces out. Proceed to CM as they switch to their Manectric or Hydreigon etc, then Trick Room as you get Thunderbolted or Dark Pulsed. Proceed to Sweep with 2.5x SpA, while resisting Priority Moves like Bullet Punch / Mach Punch / Aqua Jet.

mono attacker set designed as a stallbreaker, calm mind and rest as set up move and rest as a recovery move and because you don´t want to be destroy by poison and it´s gave you the opportunities to destroy some stall team but be careful with scald pp. 60 evs in spa and modest nature gave you enough power to have 25% chance to 2hko burn quagsire.
60+ SpA Slowbro-Mega Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 177-208 (44.9 - 52.7%) -- 25.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and burn damage

Slowbro, for some reason, has stupid bulk. This capitalizes on that bulk to give it a chance to set up Trick Room. Once that's up, most of the time, something that thinks it can KO switches in. That switch can get you a Belly Drum up, and then a chance to absolutely nuke whatever comes in. Self-explanatory, ridiculous, and so unexpected that it can screw with others.

- Zap Cannon

This set is designed to lure in the bulky Water types that stomach Slowbro's STABs with ease and surprise them with a 200 BP Gigavolt Havok, like Suicune, Volcanion, and rival Slowbro. The nice thing about Slowbro is that it has just enough power with a Modest nature to knock out most of its checks with its coverage moves (or at least do a sizable amount) and has the possibility to inflict double status with Scald and Zap Cannon. For instance, a Serperior wouldn't want to come in on a Zap Cannon or Ice Beam, especially the former since it also causes paralysis if it hits. It doesn't even really need to recover with Slack Off since Slowbro is an excellent pivot with Regenerator.

I'm so proud of this huge turnout, folks! Get to voting for your favorite set!

Stoward

Ah, you're finally awake
Right time to vote for one of these things.

Honestly all of them look really nice. Belly Drum slowbro looks hella cool, but I'm pretty sure if I ever used it, some prick would be running foul play foongus or something idk. Electrium Z would tilt me just bc I feel like I'd always be in a situation where I'd need to hit a zap cannon after the Z move to win and then it'd always miss. On top of that I'd have to be playing around with fire blasts hitting. Then again, I can always blame hax for losses and call myself the better player. So if I could have a second place, I'd probably give it to that set.

I'd have to give my vote to Patoche's Iron Defense calm mind Mega Bro seems really nice. It's practically as annoying as Crocune, but you don't have to risk getting crit. I always enjoy my scum sets from time to time, so that set has a special place in my heart. Have my vote patoche

As for the oh-so-lucky week 13, we've got a bit of an interesting pick:

- Hidden Power (Ice / Electric / Grass)

Submissions are due by Friday! Good luck!

Cobalion @ Fightinium Z / Steelium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swagger
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Psych Up

Cobalion has an interesting typing rendering it strong against a lot and neutral against a lot. Swagger takes advantage of common switch-ins by beefing them up and confusing them, and by extension, the opponent, since who does some dumb shit like that. Then you bust out the real heat here, Psych Up, which promptly takes their swag and gives it to you, running around with your pants barely on and talking about money, sex, and drugs.

Psych Up also gives you an edge against slower wall breakers that can’t ohko you, like Haxorus, since you copy the boost and you’re off to the races, taking your opponent’s hard work and possibly sanity with you, wondering how they lost all their swag to a blue goat.
