[OVERVIEW]
While Nidoran-M may look worthwhile due to Hustle boosting its attack, it suffers from a terrible Speed stat, poor defenses, and a horrible offensive typing. Even with its high Attack, Nidoran-M is unable to break through a majority of walls without extensive setups and is heavily reliant on Sucker Punch to hit faster targets, which is easily exploitable by the bevy of faster Fighting- and Dark-types in the tier. Because of this, other, stronger wallbreakers such as Croagunk, Rufflet, and Pawniard are much more useful, as they have much better speed, bulk, and STAB attacks to allow them to to break through opposing teams.
[SET]
name: Hone Claws
move 1: Poison Jab
move 2: Drill Run
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Hone Claws
item: Eviolite
ability: Hustle
nature: Adamant
evs: 220 Atk / 36 Def / 36 Def / 196 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
This set aims to set up Hone Claws on Pokemon unable to really hurt Nidoran-M, such as defensive Spritzee and non-Spore Foongus, and break through the opposing team while using Sucker Punch to nab faster threats. However, finding this type of setup opportunity is difficult, and Nidoran-M can still be easily stopped by defensive Ground-types and faster threats that can deal with Sucker Punch. Because of Nidoran-M's poor speed and inability to deal with most faster threats, it finds itself needing Sticky Web support to do well. Still, Pokemon such as Croagunk, Rufflet, and Pawniard are much more useful, as they each individually have a much easier time setting up and breaking through opposing teams.
