[SET COMMENTS]
Ninetales's good Speed and offensive presence supplemented by Drought and Nasty Plot make it a threatening wallbreaker and potential sweeper. Drought also provides irreplaceable support for teammates such as Venusaur and Shiftry. Solar Beam threatens Water and Ground-types like Milotic and Rhyperior that can tank a boosted Fire Blast. Toxic allows Ninetales to punish its most common switch-ins, namely Noivern, Incineroar, and Gigalith, much more heavily than any other attack. Dark Pulse is an option as Ninetales's best means of damaging Flash Fire Chandelure but sacrifices Toxic's coverage for Ninetales's other answers. Hypnosis is a niche option to create setup opportunities for Venusaur and Shiftry on sun teams. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Ninetales to switch in and fire off attacks over the duration of a match much more reliably, while Heat Rock makes Ninetales' sun last longer for teammates that can make use of it.
Ninetales's most common answers are Fire-types, most notably Incineroar and Chandelure, as well as Noivern and Gigalith, the latter of which entirely removes sun. As a result, Ninetales greatly appreciates teammates that can help combat these. Defensive Water-types like Milotic and Vaporeon, despite being hampered by sun, can switch in on all of these repeatedly if necessary. Gigalith can act as a useful partner for many reasons—it provides Stealth Rock support, acts as a Noivern answer, sets sand to give Ninetales the maximum number of sun turns when it switches in, and also deals with opposing Fire-types that are otherwise buffed by Ninetales's sun like Chandelure. Venusaur and Shiftry require Ninetales's sun to function effectively and both appreciate Ninetales weakening their checks early in the battle for a late-game sweep. In return, Venusaur can lure in and heavily damage Fire-types, while Shiftry can be used to beat Gigalith or force Incineroar to take significant damage. Tsareena can lure in and pivot out against Pokemon Ninetales can take down or set up on, like Doublade and Galarian Weezing, as well as being able to take on Gigalith and remove entry hazards. Choice Scarf Flygon is capable of revenge killing Dragon Dance Haxorus and Noivern, which can otherwise exploit Ninetales, and often lures in targets that Ninetales or sun sweepers can take advantage of, such as Galarian Weezing and Milotic. Noivern provides Defog support and can help sun teams apply pressure to Gigalith alongside Ninetales through repeated use of Draco Meteor. It also often draws in Pokemon weak to Grass or Poison such as Rhyperior, Milotic, and Sylveon, which Venusaur can heavily exploit. While using Incineroar means running a team with two Fire-types, it acts as a great check to Chandelure and opposing sun sweepers while also functioning as a threatening wallbreaker with both Swords Dance and sun-boosted Flare Blitz. It can also effectively pivot out of common responses like Gigalith and Galarian Weezing in order to bring in a teammate that can heavily threaten them.
