Noobish EV question.

Regarding EV's in general. (In my case attack). I have a question.

I have a Forretress holding a Power Bracer sent out against a Seaking. It is too high of a level for my pokemon to defeat so I switch it out for a stronger pokemon with its EV's filled up to finish to Pokemon off. My question is this.

Will my Forretress receive the 6 EVs even if another pokemon defeats it or does it receive nothing at all? I'm just curious as to how that works.

As for your question, I can't really answer it. In Advance I'm pretty sure it'd get 6 EVs, but things might've changed, so you might want to ask there just in case.
