Yeah Milo is breakfast for Toxicroak, nuff said. If it has Ice Beam, free setup for my SubPunch Azumarill.
Slowking is proving to be much more of a pain. Toxicroak can't do shit thanks to Psychic, and switching in is a huge risk due to Thunder Wave. I'd switch in a Ground type, but guess what? STAB Surf.
True, but Torterra's just one Pokemon. I'm just saying it's a bit difficult to reliably switch in to Slowking. But yeah, Torterra's pretty much a full stop to it...unless it's carrying a little surprise in the form of Ice Beam. Do you think Psychic/Ice Beam as the two attacking moves could work? You do get completely walled by Registeel, but you'd switch out of it anyway.
I'm afraid not. Without Surf you can't really *beat* the fire types/rock types your supposed to beat. Ice beam on Slowking would be a total bitch though. And yeah besides Lanturn/Torterra, NOTHING likes switching into Slowking due to T-wave.
What EVs do people use on RestTalk Milo anyway?
Thund has brought up an interesting point; investing Spe and Atk/SAtk into 'wall' Pokemon in order to boost thier effectiveness. Milotic for example, can (and should) always run enough speed to outpace RP Torterra, Aggron, and Rhyperior. The minimal requirement that it takes as well as the obvious payoff it gives, makes it seem like a no-brainer. Another Pokemon for example who could do this is Blastoise. Using a more offensive EV spread in order to secure a Spin. Again, give him enough speed to outpace Torterra, coverage moves (Ice Beam, Hp Grass), and Modest +Nature that allows him to beat-out said threats as well as grants him the ability to 2hko Rotom and Mismag.
No they shouldn't. Milotic needs to run a whopping 86 speed EV's to effectively troll Jolly Aggron. (CB varients)
it needs to run more speed to outspeed Jolly Torterra.
Imo, it should just run enough speed to outspeed Rhyperior.
Sorry to change the subject, I remember a few pages back there was a swellow discussion. Well, some people were saying that the lack of "easy spikes" have hurt it's effectiveness this round, but I beg to differ. I brought back an offensive team from when rosey was still around and before the whore and raikou dropped down. Anyway, swellow is still one of my star players if not the star. Also, I've found that absol has become pretty damn potent this time around; he's fairly easy to set up and once he does, we all know what happenes next.
And about this speed > bulk thing; I agree that it's sometimes ok to give your wall some speed. I remember getting my ass handed to me when nearly everything on my team got outsped and KOed by a fast milotic, without life orb! Of coure, it did have spikes support.
tl;dr Speed on your wall can prove to be beneficial, but if it's uneccessary then stick to what will always work- the standard.
But it needs even MORE than Milotic's 86 speed just to outspeed. By then it's just not worth it. (Unless you are sadist)That isn't hard to do, seeing that Milotic outspeeds max Jolly Rhyperior without any EVs in speed.
Blastoise could run some speed EVs to outspeed Aggron though.
I'm telling you guys, lifeorb milotic is one of the best pokes in the tier. Timid means modest (all) moltres can suck it. Ice beam those grasses. I stuck light screen on my venasaur and extra sp.def evs on it for protection. However, venasaur is a great support mon and water check. Synthesis/sleep powder/light screen/energy ball. I don't mind being walled by so many things, I just set a screen on the switch, sleep em and switch. Takes a moltres' air slash if he screens on the switch and sleeps it. So said milotic can come in for free
tl;dr version: don't use offensive venasaur and defensive milotic - use defensive venasaur and offensive milotic
Timid means modest (all) moltres can suck it
